I did the first time - but I've set up two others since, and never used cleaning cartridges. I don't think it's essential. They're possibly useful after blocked nozzles.
Thanks for this Paul. It didn't sound too important to me, it being a machine that hasn't had ANY ink in it yet. I'll maybe wait for a couple more replies telling me to go ahead and then whack 'em in :-)
I'll probably get six people telling me not to even think about it now... --
