The new rules apply for any engine change!! up or down in cc's
sinds end last year.

The DVLA as well as the Dutch RDW are getting stricter by the month . .
They are " forced "by Europe - they say...

I think that used to be only if you are putting in a lower capacity engine
and were going to change the tax group.
I.E going from 1.6L to a 1.4L puts it into the lower tax band.
But i do remember reading somewhere they now want more details for an engine
change.

Personally, i can't remember the last time i told DVLA when i'd changed an
engine for another of the same capacity, you can never read the engine number
on the block after it's rusted for a few years.

I don't know how it would work on a newer car (post 2001) where the tax is
based on the CO2 emissions of the engine, i guess you'd have to supply all
sorts of details of where the engine came from.

If you put an other engine in your QSC and want to change the V5 with the
new engine nr and cc's you need a detaild letter/bill from the garage that they
did the engine swap!!!

Found out the hard way . . .
This info is somewhere on the DVLA website.

Just for interest of those of us doing engine conversions. I was informed
by somebody at Stoneleigh that the DVLA are cracking down on this and you must
now be able to prove where the engine came from i.e. what the original car was.
I don't know how true this is but thought I would mention it. Luckily I have
the car that my diesel came from so hopefully will not be a problem.

I believe you had some bits off him too. The subframe mods are not a major
issue. I don't know what the donor car was as the engine was bought from
someone who bought it for a Q. I have seen your website, though not recently. I
will go and take another look now.

All the mods required have been covered in this group in the past, they
may also be in the FAQ on the club web site.
I presume you've seen my web site www.quantums.info, some pictures on
there of a Zetec in a 2+2 plus another page on fitting a Zetec in a Mk2 Fiesta.

        Main things are:
Spaceframe mods to clear crank pulley, top of cylinder head and
possibly exhaust downpipe.
Modification of the CVH top engine mounting bracket to fit the Zetec.
Change to injection fuel tank or external swirl pot with high pressure
fuel pump.
        Additions to the wiring.
Depending on the engine donor don't forget about the PATS anti theft
system..

What car is the engine coming from ?

I've got standard XR2 drums on the rear of my 260bhp ZVH turbo 2+2 but
i've Willwood 4 pot calipers on the front.
There is no weight on the rear of a 2+2 so i don't think upgrading the
rear brakes will help.
