Sorry, but has the Ranger Code been applied here? The Code applies to the
Commanders even more so than the boys.

Sounds like to me in this 'hypothetical question' the Code has been relaxed.
Does the boy learn for the rest of his life that you can get by with things.
Remember we are teaching the boys things now that they will be able to use
for the rest of their life.

Please realize that I am not talking about you.

It is quite possible that you could test the boy in the merits that "he has
earned".

Any GMA worth his stuff is not going to have a problem with this. And a GMA
is to be looked up to by the rest of the boy in his OP and in the region.
Dad shouldn't have a problem with this since his son knows everything about
the merits that his son has earned.

I know that this is so easy to say, but is so true. What would our Senior
Ranger do?, what would Jesus say.

I myself forget to think of what would Jesus say and do. We have the Ranger
Code in front of us and we have our conscience. We must be guided by God.

Take the Boy and his father and explain to them that while he has the merits
on and things have been signed off you will need to make sure that he truly
knows the things that he has merits for. I think that you should also
include the Senior Commander in this discussion.

I don't envy the position that the trailblazer commander is in, but, with
prayer and delicate timing, this could turn out to be something good for the
boy. Since the whole thing is about the boy.

Subject: [RR] What would you do?

The Pioneer is moving up to Trailblazers soon. He is wearing 15 merits on
his chest, including Bible, Physical Fitness, Citizenship, etc. His Pioneer
Commander Daddy says "He's just a couple of months from earning his GMA".
But...

You _know_ the requirements for many merits have been superficially adhered
to at best.

You _know_ that Mama and Daddy have been lenient in signing things off.

You are _not_ the Senior Commander.

You _are_ the Trailblazer commander.

What do you do, if anything?

Of course, this is PURELY a hypothetical situation! <G>
