   >There's an old saying that goes something like this;

   >But to be really honest with ourselves maybe, our saying should be;

    >If it isn't broke you haven't looked at it hard enough.

*I'm not sure I fully agree with that (probably just on the wrong wave
length) :-) ... but as for the rest of your post... I agree!

    >The only way we can get better is to be honest with ourselves, Is the
current
    >program working 100% across the board? Now be honest! No, it is not.
Why?
    >Who really knows? At least the powers to be are looking and trying to
find
    >out a way to fix whatever they can to make us better.

*100% of anything is near impossible... why? Something about our flesh
getting in the way. Anyone who has been in Rangers long enough fully knows
the factors that relate to burn out and getting burned. It all serves to
make us stronger if we choose to look at it in the proper perspective....
and keep coming back for more.... I know I do.

Times change, people change, ministry efforts, direction and techniques
change. We cannot expect the "way it has been" to always be the "way it
should be", nor should we fully disregard the "old ways" for the "new ways"
without prayerful consideration.

I have seen Commander Mariott present the new program. I have sat under
Brian's mini-leadership training for the pilot program. I have scoured the
new leaders resource guides and I have *worked it with the boys. It will
work, and it will work WELL!

I've said that not to impress anyone, but only to say, in all that, I *SEE
the Vision, I *FEEL the Passion and the *LEADING of the Holy Spirit in this
move to change. Making the ministry, the program and the technique more
relevant to the youth of today is certainly the right path of direction.
After all, each generation has had to endure change... why should the church
not be so motivated?

Whether we choose to work the "old program" or the "new"... the goal hasn't,
nor will it, change. We're here to reach the lost... the boys, the girls,
the fathers, the mothers, the sisters, etc....

Rangers is a ministry tool to win the lost, as is Evangelism Explosion and
many others... but it goes much further than that! Commanders are here to
help mold boys (and girls in some cases) into the children of God that they
were meant to be, as well as teaching them valuable life skills that can
transfer across any ministry or life change. Folks... KEEP IN MIND THE BIG
PICTURE! ... the "life skills" of the 60's have changed a bit here in Y2k,
wouldn't you agree? ... some things never change, but others... *WOW...
drastic changes!

It's bigger than your church, your outpost, or even your District... but
more importantly... it's bigger than yourself (collectively speaking)... and
your petty "peaves" and "personal preferences" .... God is much bigger than
that.

Spread the word, be instant in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke,
exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine... go in the highways and the
byways... win the lost souls for Christ!

That's the Point of Ministry! Keep your compass pointed that way and no
matter what "program" comes or goes... souls will reap the benefit of
eternity with Christ.

Blessings,

Parson.
