Pete Coors ran for the senate in Colorado and appeared on Meet the Press with
Salazar, the Dem candidate. Campaigning on family values, Coors was asked about
his statements that 'his company values were his family values' and he was
coming out against gay marriage.

At the same time, his company, COORS Brewing company, notable for being one of
the biggest polluters in colorado and to many of us old enough to remember,
boycotted for union busting policies, was contributing free beer to one of the
most lewd and raucous gay festivals in the world in Canada.

just as there were Jews who joined the Nazi party, there will always be
Sullivans in the Republican party. They believe the balance of the bottom line
on their issue sheet tilts in favor of their oppressors, however naive or
masochistic that may be.

As for Ashcroft, there are a number of reasons. It's a toss-up of who was more
afraid of whom, Bush or Ashcroft, both have a good case for being the more
radical, but Ashcroft served his purpose, even by taking a lot of the heat for
Bush's (Cheney's) policies, including the patriot act and rejection of freedom
of information requests.

Now, (and I've previously posted the dangers of Gonzales appointment) we get a
Halliburton attorney of Hispanic descent that is considered soft on abortion.
Think of the ramifications:

Bush is touting the legalization of untold thousands of immigrants.
The 'liberals' are thinking, 'O.K, he's not a hard line anti-abortionist, he
must not be too bad'
The Christian Conservatives are breathing a sigh of relief that he's not on the
Supreme Court and won't stop the overturning of Roe v Wade
BUT

He's a Halliburton/Enron attorney with a long relationship with Bush dating
back to Texas when Bush was bull-rushing executions, including a
'mentally-challenged' minor

Gonzales has also been instrumental in writing the legal positioning condoning
the use of torture in Abu Gharaib and the detentions in Guantanamo.

This is a horrifying portent of things to come:
First and foremost, all investigations into Halliburton and it's criminal
activities in Iraq come to a screeching halt, or at least fall off the radar
screen.
Second, constitutional protections against the right to free speech and freedom
of assembly begin to take a remarkable spin in the name of Homeland Security

Third, the Posse Comitatus act is officially revoked, allowing unprecedented
use of American military power against it's own people

Gaining the support of the Mexican people who are being treated as a second
class citizens by allowing them the same immigration rights as my white
ancestors may look like tolerance on the surface, but it may be a preface to
removing the border and taking the oil fields of Mexico on our way to South
America, where we have already demonstrated our intentions

With Ashcroft, we at least could recognize the mad dog he was/is. Gonzales is
a rabid wolf in sheeps clothing, and Bush is trying to appoint him to guard the
hen house.

such a reason why we should listen for a long time before we judge? i was just
discussing what he said, which still might be relivant no matter what a puke he

as i said i heard pat buchanan say some stuff about bush and was agreeing with

he also was smart enough to know that during the 2000 election all those little

The bare back issue came up about a year or so ago. It was a huge
controversy in the gay community because the majority of us felt he was
fostering and promoting a very dangerous activity. One in fact, that most
of the gay community has been trying to put a stop to for years since the
HIV crisis began. We were trying our best to publicize what he was doing,
because much of his activities were being advertised under a false identity.
He made a lot of enemies since then, not that he was all that popular among
most of the gay community to begin with.

The bareback stuff came out fairly recently. Hypocrisy has no bounds
within the Rethuglican party.

Enjoy.
