Well a few things. I am using DVDAexplorer using the command line flac -f "%filepath%"
under the Run program check box. It is what was suggest from their web site. It uses the same flac.exe frontend file that I use with EAC when ripping CD's. I'm not sure why it would make a difference to manually convert the WAV's to FLAC using an extra step because I would be using the exact same program and the same exact command line structure....???? Maybe because it's not recognizing the tags to put on the DVD-A files in the first place and it's screwing something up. After ripping the DVD-A's all of the FLAC files end up with a very long and generic file name with no tags. At least none that I can see. There is a setting in the Flac frontend to Auto Detect under Tag Config and since it has no info to tag with this very well might be the problem. I'll try it and see. Also as a test, and I'm starting to lose faith in MP3tag, I re-tagged an older CD/Redbook Yes album, Drama, that I already had ripped to FLAC that was working perfectly on my SB3's. I did it with MP3tag. All of the tags in MP3tag show just fine but the album has completely disappeared from both SB3's and Slim Server. It's still on the server, I can browse to it and play it just fine on the local machine. But it's gone else where. And even though the tags look OK in MP3tag, if I look at those same files in either Media Monkey or Tag&Rename, they show different parameters. Sometimes the Artist is missing, sometimes the album. But if I re-tag again in Tag&Rename everything is just ducky again and works just fine everywhere it should. I then took a new CD, ripped it with EAC using the FLAC frontend flac.exe, rescanned the music folder in Slim Server and it works just fine. Obviously I'm doing something wrong with MP3tag but it shouldn't be this difficult. (I'm really not this computer illiterate....honest.) What settings are you guys using in MP3tag under Tags, Ape, Mpc and Mappings? Should these all be checked? Should there be different mappings for VorbisComment? I still think I must be missing something really stupid but what I don't know. The only other difference is using either auto tag from Amazon, or Freedb or writing the tags by hand. But a tag is a tag and should work right? I will try ripping the DVD-A's manually to WAV, the converting to FLAC, then tagging with MP3tag and see what happens.
