This would allow the user to go from varying degrees of legato to staccato by reducing the note duration for all of the selected notes. That seems useful to me. Or is there already a better way to do that? Combining them seems dangerous to me. They probably have four notes of the same pitch for a reason. The attack is likely to be important to them.
