Amen, brother!   I am in good (?) health, but age has a way of taking away 
the interest and ability to do some things, like crawling around under the 
tablework doing wiring!

My final shot --

Stick with S!   It still has the best set of compromises of size vs. space 
required, size vs. performance, size vs. play value.   I am sure that all 
who have tried other scales find that the play values change with size.   If 
you doubt that, look at the way folks play with G vs. HO.

Don't count on retirement time. I got to retire early and figured on
lots of time working on a layout. My Fibromyalgia limits me to one or
two days a week, probably less hours than I did things when I worked.
Figure on doing things in the now, the future may not be what you think.
