we already have https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/32060 which will be, from the point of view of 99.9% of the users, identical to what's proposed in the ticket we are discussing, #32532. (the remaining 0.1% are people deliberately building gcc/gfortran as a part of Sage). Thus on Matthias' side it's a bit strange to claim that with #32532 we will be hit by a barrage of users' questions. We will be, as much as, or as little as, we will be with #32060.
