If you'd like, keep an eye on the Beta forum for an idea of when it
will be ready for wider testing prior to release. Some people are
having good results already with firmware 29, but obviously it's not
ready.

I guess I should try a small subset of my music collection with maybe 1
or 2 multi-disc albums and 1 or 2 "various artists" albums. Now it takes
too long to go change everything (even if Mp3tag is good) and then
rescan the whole database.
Last time I tried to use the multi
Fast Audio Converter is another option. It does batch processing so you
can do all of your files at once, and you can select the output
destination if different than the source location.
Works well and the output bitrate is selectable in CBR or VBR. Encodes
To/From other formats as well.

When you say "the new version" do you mean the 6.2.2 branch or the 6.5 branch?I'd say you have two options:1) Go back to your old, good level. Either of the two above levels are still beta levels and not yet released. One of the caveats of going to them is that you may hit bugs.

Since switching to MySQL I've definitely noticed things being a lot
quicker. Then again, my slimserver machine is fairly underpowered
(PIII 450 with 224MB RAM), so you may not see these effects if running
on a decent machine to start with.

IR codes from your remote control.

The exceptions list in PC-Cilin shows all the Slim connections as
allowed under 'OUT', both TCP and UDP. No connections show 'IN' for all
Slim connections. My Windows (XP) Firewall is 'ON'.

I am an iTunes user. I would like to be able to exclude songs that
Squeezebox can't play (e.g. songs I bought from the iTunes store). I'd

You can change the screensaver from both.
In SlimServer's web interface, go to "player settings" for the
appropriate player (if you have more than one), then scroll down to
screensavers.
It's in pretty much the same place in the player menus.
