Hello All! Hope everyone is virus free & using their personal quarantine
period to make some lace! I am revisiting the colored Torchon samples on Jane’s
site & have run into a snag. It’s the first sample—red & yellow diagonal
stripes over butterscotch passives. I am clueless on how to change co
Thanks to Devon for sharing your collar & to Elizabeth Kurella for identifying
it! The last photo on Ning—a closeup of a partial “rose”—was a real puzzler for
me. The way it is made/attached to its stem makes it seem like a Rosaline
wannabe rather than the real thing. Rosaline is light & airy,
Thanks to advice from Jane & others, I managed to finish my sample! It was
quite an adventure working with multiple threads as weavers. Two strands of #8
perle were too thick so I tried 1) #12 perle with #8 & 2) two stands of floss
with #8. Passives are all #8. My colors are peach, rose & pale
Hello All! On a quick break from Binche, I wanted to ask a question about this
thread. Has anyone used it to make lace? From what I can determine online, it’s
considered a flat silk but in fact has a very slight twist. A website—that I
can’t find now!—said that it makes nice lace. Looking at onl
Hello All! Devon, I am most intrigued by your question & look forward to
answers from the experts. In the meantime, as one of the least experienced
lacemakers on Arachne, may I call your attention to the Lace Dealer’s Pattern
Book? When I saw your sample, I thought of the many fanciful floral s
Hello all! Many weeks ago, I asked questions about Soie Ovale & other “flat
silk” threads. I have an upcoming project that requires fine, colored silk
threads with low twist. Thanks to the Silk King, Francis B, I now have a better
understanding of silk thread construction! Sue Babbs kindly sent
OMG—what a great job! Organized in the twinkling of an eye by our very
tech-savvy volunteers, I’m overwhelmed. The lectures hit the mark & the faux

Thank you Vicki for identifying the house! I’ve been racking my brain to

Hello All! It’s amazing what you can collect over the years! As we get ready
to move yet again, I was sorting thru my embroidery, beading, braiding & lace
stuff because I know that I can’t take all of it to a small condo. Mind you, I
did this less than two years ago when we downsized & my stas
Hello All! My “lace cave” moved recently & I was faced with larger, deeper
drawers that are more difficult to subdivide. The Plano fishing boxes I use for
metallics are expensive & not really conducive to separating various size
spools of cotton, linen, silk & other fibers. What to do? As I open
NOT! I’m trying to stay busy as I suffer from Ithaca Lace Day withdrawal. I’m
sure I speak for all when I express how much I miss the classes, shopping,

weekend. Holly, Jerry & many lace elves make this a “must attend” ev
Hello All! Quick question—it seems like semi-fine linen thread in the 40wcm
range is not available in the US. What gives? I want to make a bangle Christmas
ornament & try linen. Cotton isn’t my first choice. Any thoughts? Many thanks.

To follow up—apparently Bockens has discontinued 120/2 linen (34wcm) so Holly
is offering Fil au Chinois, 1500m. Seems like a 3 lifetime supply plus I was
aiming for a slightly finer thread. I’ve been working with YLI Fine metallics
(39wcm) on a 3mm isometric grid. It’s a good fit for that scal
Thanks for weighing in on this issue Brenda! I’ve annotated my Threads for

that I’d never heard of. Most of them are heavier weight to please the knitters

Hello All! Has anyone used threads from this Japanese manufacturer? I noticed

Hello All! Has anyone used this thread to make lace? I ran across it at Hobby
