Adding new languages to ITSM

2013-06-04 Thread Thomas
Dear Listers,

Is there an easy way to add an additional language to an existing ITSM 7.6.03
installation?
Currently, English is the only installed language, I would like to add Spanish
to that. The system isn't customized.

Thanks,
Thomas

Thomas,

You have to run the installer again and choose the languages you want to
install. You would however need to verify that your database server
collation is compatible with the new languages you want to install. If not
you might have to do what is necessary to change the server collation first.

Cheers

Joe

Thomas,

I think you would have to run AR System server installer so that your AR system
support multi-language applications, where you also need to verify DB
compatibility as pointed by Joe. Once done, you need to re-run ITSM installer,
select the require languages and install it.

Thanks Regards,
Anandsagar

SRM - Re-Mapping Cancelled.

2013-06-04 Thread Andre, Jacques
Environment :: Full ITSM 8.1, Core 8.1, SRM 8.1,Knowledge 8.1,CMDB 8.1 on
Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008.

Hi Folks.

We have a requirement to remove the Cancelled status from the Incident
Application.
Unfortunately this has a knock on effect I that when a Service Request (From
SRM) is cancelled by the customer, it does not update the Incident application
(Sets Status to NULL)

I can see that when the user presses the Cancel button on the SRM screen, an
Active link (SRM:AOI:CancelStatus_ByParent_CancelApp) sets the field
zParamCommand to SRM_IN_APP_REQUEST_CANCEL which I assume is what is
pushing the cancelled request through to the incident.

So I changed this to SRM_IN_APP_REQUEST_RESOLVED, but it still does not
update the incident.

Has anyone faced into this or know a way to resolve this. In a nutshell, when I
user presses cancel on the SRM screen, I just want to resolve the incident.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Re: Problem copying records to People form

2013-06-04 Thread Hennigan, Sandra
I use a series of Escalation to normalize field content in advance of pushing
data to CTM:People.

The first copies AD records from the ARDBC form to my staging form. Each
escalation in the next group keys off an AD attribute to normalize the data.
The next writes records to CTM:People, followed by an escalation that updates
existing CTM:People, a final escalation deletes the staging form records. The
escalations run 5 times a day without measurable impact to the application.

Attached is the Escalation that pushes records from my staging form to the
CTM:People form successfully.

Good luck!

This is about as strange as it gets. Today I logged onto my dev server with

opening an application and got the same.

I looked at About Studio Installation Details Configuration View Error Log

Has anyone seen this? If so what would be the corrective action?

Look at your environment variables. I had this issues when I had both 32 bit

the PATH variable to ensure the 32 bit java JRE path is listed before the 64
bit JRE path.

When I see 'could not install' messages I tend to assume the tool is broken in
ways that aren't worth trying to figure out unless you are someone responsible
for the install packages for BMC. I would just remove the app and install it
again, though I would use SP4 instead. Focus on why things won't install right.

SRM Notifications

2013-06-04 Thread Kevin Shaffer
ARS 7.6.04 SP1

ITSM 7.6.04 SP1

Configured to create a service request when an incident is created

I hope I am missing something basic here. I have two SRM notification
questions.

1. When an Incident is created, the service request notification is sent out
(SRM-REQ-Submitted-Requester) and not the incident notification
(HPD-INC-CustomerReceiptConfirmation). I get that works as designed based on
our configuration. My customer wants to be able to view the notification that
was send to the customer. When I click on View Audit Log from the Incident and
select the Notifications tab, there are no customer notifications there. Is
this normal? I assume I just need to find the service request notifications
and add a push fields to the NTE:Notifier Log but before I went down that road
I wanted to confirm that there wasn't some OOTB method for me to verfiy that
the customer notifications were sent since the request notifications dont
appear to be in the incident view audit log. P.S. We don't store records in
the AR System Email Messages form so I can't use that form.

2. If an Incident is Resolved and Saved at the same time, the
HPD-INC-CustomerReceiptConfirmation is sent. If an Incident is saved and then
resolved later, the service request notification always fires. Is this
expected behavior?

My challenge is explaining to the customer why one notification message is sent
when a ticket is created if a certain critiria is met and another message is
sent depending on the steps followed. I would think that it is either the
service request that sends out the notifications or the incident that sends out
the notifications.

Thanks in advance

Kevin

First time I deleted the workspace directory and but that did not removed my
preferences as stated in the guide. So the issue persisted. Then I created a
new workspace in the My Documents directory and all works fine. Days like this
I wish for 6.3.

Thanks Lj

This is about as strange as it gets. Today I logged onto my dev server with

opening an application and got the same.

I looked at About Studio Installation Details Configuration View Error Log

Has anyone seen this? If so what would be the corrective action?

Configuring Work Order Routing/Assignment Based off of people record

Re: Configuring Work Order Routing/Assignment Based off of people record

2013-06-04 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Unfortunately this type of functionality doesn't appear to exist within ITSM.
What I'm doing for this exact situation is converting my SRDs to leverage
Advanced Interface Forms, which leverages a lookup form that basically has
assignment mappings for the companies, and pulls that assignment group
information into the AIF based on the Company field. I set up the assignment
fields to be visible to set up in my AOTs for Incident (I will be working on
Change Management next.) I probably could have enhanced the Assignment Engine
to make routing by Company only work, but I figured it was safer to not try
customizing something that will likely be broken whenever I apply a patch.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson

I used a really long time ago, that can do it. They had changed owners once

Another tool that I used was TelAlert http://www.mir3.com/telalert/ . It
used to be bundled with Remedy.

In my experience I found EtherPage a little more easier to setup and

Heather,
There's a few ways to approach this. One thing I've done is to provide drop
down menus that query the people form with the following qual: 'Remedy
Login ID' = $/USER$ and then have them validate their location info. You
can then use those answers to map to the Work Order being created. You can
then go into the CFG:Assignment form and create assignment rules for each
location to the appropriate support group and select Work Order as the
module which uses those routes. Does that make sense?

Howard,
Remember that you need to overlay the Form, then the Field, and if you are
on 8.1, change the granular overlay type to 'Overwrite' in the proper
section, then you can change the values.

Re: SMS

2013-06-04 Thread Steve Kallestad
Telalert got *very* expensive and full of unnecessary bells and whistles.
(they bundle it with their own help desk software and do voice recognition
if I remember correctly, things like that)

I still see telalert out there at a few customers, but most people are
using SMS to email gateways or blackberry. I think if you contact them
they will still sell licenses for the old version that is strictly for
paging, but they don't advertise it.

There are a number of web services that are open for integration that will
confirm delivery, but my experience with testing them out is that they are
about as reliable as the email gateways but with the email gateways you
can contact the telco about fixing delivery problems (like if your email
servers get flagged as a spammer)

Integrating with a SIM card device / hosted provider is expensive and takes
a long time for approval mainly because it's generally used for advertising
and even with all the alerts remedy sends, the volume will fall far short
of what those are typically used for.

If you want to receive messages as well - it's a choice of either hosting a
SIM card or leveraging a web service. Some providers will post the inbound
messages to a web service, others convert it to an email, and others will
allow you to poll a web service.

Re: SMS

2013-06-04 Thread Shellman, David
Joe,

You are correct with the link for TelAlert. It was purchased by MIR3 a few
years ago.

We use it and have integrated with our home built forms. The filter performs a
run process that initiate a client that connects to the servers.

Version 6e has a lot of functions that have been included that works for some
folks. Those functions were added to complete with AlarmPoint. I have always
felt I should configure how and when I want paged from the AR System instead of
the messaging software. Others feel that it should be managed from the
messaging software. I guess it becomes your choice.

1. We use telalert to notify varies vendors ( ATT, SPRINT, TMOBILE, Telpage

smart phones on some carrier that the replies have an embeded gif; but we are
working on coding for that; this is an intergation with outlook.

2. Another telalert notification it is used for, on TEC/Ominbus server, they
correlate incidents from Remedy and leverage the telalert IVR component/call
feature to notify for a specific incident. another, The schedule is used to

play with it in Devcreate an overlay on a form that doesn't have one,
overlay a drop down selection field creating view overlays as necessary,
get everything working just fine, then go back and delete all of the view
overlays and see if everything is still working (that's what I did, and it
worked just fine)then when you are done with your playing around,
delete the overlay in question (because it was just a sandbox anyway) and
you are no worse for wear.

 Howard,

Remember that you need to overlay the Form, then the Field, and if you are
on 8.1, change the granular overlay type to 'Overwrite' in the proper
section, then you can change the values.

Re: Configuring Work Order Routing/Assignment Based off of people record

2013-06-04 Thread Thad Esser
I don't think it will. The workflow that does the look-up from the
CFG:Assignment form only fires if there isn't already an assigned group.
So, if you are setting the group on your templates, the work order will
already have a value and no look-up would occur. Of course, test to be
sure.

Oh, and I'd imagine its the same for previous versions, but just in case -
I'm looking at 8.1 workflow.

Re: SMS

2013-06-04 Thread Joe D'Souza
I just had another thought on this (which was honestly fueled by a
discussion I had with a fellow Remedy developer at the WWRUG on a similar
related topic about integrating into popular messaging/chat systems.)

With almost a good 70 to 80% of us who have phones that are email capable,
do you really want to spend whatever it needs to have your system send an
SMS message in this day and age? Most phones are perfectly capable of
receiving emails from at least 1 email address. So why not just send an
email? Chances are 100% of phones in the very near future will be email
capable.

So it really goes down to whether it's worth spending the time and money it
needs to stage a system that is SMS capable, to bridge the gap of those
users that do not have email capable phones. The larger that gap, the more
sense it might make to invest in that system.

Just a thought.

Telalert got *very* expensive and full of unnecessary bells and whistles.
(they bundle it with their own help desk software and do voice recognition
if I remember correctly, things like that)

I still see telalert out there at a few customers, but most people are using
SMS to email gateways or blackberry. I think if you contact them they will
still sell licenses for the old version that is strictly for paging, but
they don't advertise it.

There are a number of web services that are open for integration that will
confirm delivery, but my experience with testing them out is that they are
about as reliable as the email gateways but with the email gateways you can
contact the telco about fixing delivery problems (like if your email servers
get flagged as a spammer)

Integrating with a SIM card device / hosted provider is expensive and takes
a long time for approval mainly because it's generally used for advertising
and even with all the alerts remedy sends, the volume will fall far short of
what those are typically used for.

If you want to receive messages as well - it's a choice of either hosting a
SIM card or leveraging a web service. Some providers will post the inbound
messages to a web service, others convert it to an email, and others will
allow you to poll a web service.

2013-06-04 Thread Joe D'Souza
I was thinking the same although I think there might be a design change in
its physical structure or dimensions or size.

The reason I suspect this, is that I have noticed that protective gel covers
for iPhone 5 that used to be sold at premium prices of 20 plus dollars a
piece have all started falling down to under 10 a piece on online stores,
many of them at under 5 along with protective sheets and stylus pens
included. I've seen this happen twice in the past, both when 3GS faded to 4
and then 4S to 5.

I was planning to pick up a 5, and thought I would pick a protective cover
online before buying the phone, and noticed this.

Hence I thought I would either wait to buy the 5 to take advantage of a
possible price drop, or buy 6.
