Re: AudioWizards now on Steam and PC!

Given that the developers were concerned about the piracy of the game when it was only on the mobile platforms, I sincerely doubt they will or should release the game on Itch.io. DRM-free is a great thing, until you realize that it just means only one person needs to buy your game, then he can share it with whomever he chooses without any concern for user keys or other protections. It'd be nice to think the audio gaming community wouldn't abuse DRM-free, but lets face it. There are certain groups among us who will jump on that and completely rob the developer of sales without even a moment's pause for guilt.Kai

Hi.If you can find a used cheep Xbox One S, then it would be worth upgrading in my opinion. I started out with an XBox One and upgraded to an XBox X, because one of my friends wanted so desperatly to buy mine after he saw how accessible it is. I got surprised to see how much difference there is between the Xbox one and Xbox One S. Also the console is much smaller.I have never seen the Xbox One X, so I can't speak for that.If you can wait, then I'll also recommend to wait for the new generation. That depends on how much you use your console.

Where do I get an installer for Open Shell? The only thing I can find on the Github page is a zip file containing the source code. I don't care about the code, I just want the installer.Windows 10 is decent once you run Ribbon Disabler and Classic Shell or other similar programs. It's not exactly like XP, but I suppose we'll never get another XP era interface again. It's a shame they couldn't do what Apple has been doing for years and just upgrade things under the hood while leaving the UI unchanged.

Hello,So I like it. I do. But my issue with it is, it's basically just a sound generator. (A way to turn those down would be nice, BTW. That grenade launcher... OOF.)I think it would be a lot more fun if you could move around, and the person didn't fight back but ran, so you could corner them and pound them. Also no rage game is complete without a hammer.I also agree that items should be a thing. Random powerups to stab or shoot or whack extra hard. Bombs. An instakill if you're just that ragey. The ability to pound the corpse into mush for five seconds or so just to vent even more rage. That sort of thing.Just some thoughts.

Re: Help Getting Started

There are many potential places to start, but if you ask a room full of programmers what the best language is, you'll inevitably get a million different answers, as everyone has their own preferred styles and tools. What matters however, is what your comfortable with. All languages share certain similarities, variables, loops, if statements, etc. Each has their own strengths and weakenesses, and as a programmer you'll very likely learn more than one language as you go.As for where to start however, I typically recommend [Python], because its easy to use, has lots of documentation, is powerful, and has a strong community who can help you out if you need a hand. There's quite a few free books around that can get you started, like [Think Python], [The Python Practice Book], and [Dive Into Python]. These books cover the core basics of python, when your done with those you can move on to libraries that expand on these basics like Pygame and Pyglet, which handle creating windows, keyboard and mouse input, and audio. For things like TTS you can use Tolk, although its been having some issues of late... There are other libraries around for advanced audio handling as well, such as my own OpenAL Py Lite examples, but that can be for another time.If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Same with disabling  ribbons. I will admit, the win 7 was my personal favorite style of start menu. Start is back is awesome. Used it on win 8. Though it's as you say, Jayde. Most. Not all. I think assuming motive before the individual has a chance to make their argument is not always a good idea. We don't want to even subconsciously dismiss their argument before they have a chance to make it if we can help it. That's how we miss valuable criticism. Now, don't get me wrong, it's hard to do. Especially if you have any kind of emotional attachment to the situation. That's partly why even lawyers hire lawyers to work their cases that they themselves are involved in. Emotional attachment makes a truly clean argument next to impossible. Correct me if I had misinterpreted your comment, though. That's always possible for me. LOL!!!

Re: Currently available portable talking book players.

If you want something blind specific I really couldn't not recommend the stream. I'm pretty sure the new generation stream goes for like $200 to $300, might be wrong, and if that's still too pricy you could always get the first gen stream which is what I currently use and am most sattisfied with. I use a tool called inaudible to strip the DRM from audible books and split them into files based on chapter, which I then copy to the stream using a 32 gb SD card and my laptop which most usefully has an SD card slot built in. You can do USB transfer as well though I have yet to test it, but it uses USB 2.0 so it probably won't be all that great. I do want to get a new stream at some point, but I'm currently saving up for some airpods mainly because of the awesome transparancy mode, but that's a hole other topic.

Re: Currently available portable talking book players.

I primarily want more cool features related to files and playback. For example, I'd like to transfer files over Wi-Fi on the Stream, browse network attached drives, and play audio on Chromecast or AirPlay devices. Sadly, the Plextalk/BookPort Plus isn't receiving software updates anymore, and it looks like the Victor Reader Stream is reaching the end of its software support life as well. It's a shame, they said they could do all these cool Wi-Fi things, but they've only done a few things. I was expecting so much more...The Stream works pretty well. I've had mine for over 5 years, and it's still rocking! It plays NLS as well as enhanced quality Audible titles which is awesome! The keypad still works, although a couple of the buttons are a little worn out due to my extreme usage of the device. The Wi-Fi works pretty well, although it can be a little slow when downloading podcasts or NLS books. All the other playback features work extremely well.I also have a BookPort Plus, and it's decent as well. The Wi-Fi is horrendously slow, probably because it's using 802.11 G and most likely has a slower processor than the Stream. It's not nearly as intuitive to add podcasts or web radio stations, as these must be manually added to the SD card from a computer. APH also released an update that was supposed to add download capabilities for NLS, Bookshare, Open Library, and the APH magazine service. It was a paid upgrade that was around $30. Unfortunately, it did not work well at all! The unit would freeze up and I received many download errors when downloading from Open Library. I believe most of the functionality has broken, because the only service I could download from successfully was Bookshare last I checked. What pisses me off is the fact APH refused to do anything to fix these problems, even after I reported them. Because of this, and the fact this isn't the first technology product they've abandoned, I refuse to purchase any other APH products, let alone any of their technology ones. Remember what they did to the Braille Plus 18? I understand the hardware was old and underpowered, but they couldn't fix issues in an update that was hopefully? tested for about 3 years? Seriously?I'm done purchasing these blindness devices. They always lag behind mainstream tech, and these companies never develop them to their full potential. If you want something with buttons, try a GPD Win. I love mine! It's a Windows 10 laptop that's about the size of a Nintendo DS. You can do all sorts of things with it except play NLS books. Honestly, NLS should release a Windows 10 BARD app on the Microsoft Store and be done with it.

Re: The Site is Ruled by Rogue Dictators!

In my experience, most (although not all) such complaints of dictatorship, preferential treatment, prejudice and the like are made by opportunists attempting to capitalize on moments of unrest.Incidentally, I do not breathe. Air simply enters me by way of my nose and then expels itself from my respiratory system by way of my mouth. The muscular action of my diaphragm is entirely coincidental, and unrelated to the whim of the air which chooses to make its way through my body. As such, I am not guilty of breathing and should not be labelled as dictatorial for this reason alone.

@Jack, I recall trying a ribbon disabler at one ponit, I don't know if it was with classic shell, but it didn't really help since yes it disabled ribbons,  that just meant I couldn't use any of the functions in the ribbon without knowing the necessary shortcut key, and if I was going to use the shortcut keys anyway, I might as well have the ribbons there for occasions when I needed something I didn't know the key for . What I'd really like would be a way to turn ribbons back into  sensible up and down right and left menus, though since that would effectively mean rewriting the hole interface I don't know if it's likely to happen.

Whoa. Sounds great, but that thing is about $500. You could get a Zenix q802 with an Audio Technica or Shure mic and be fine, though if you wanted effects you would need a software fx rack, I'd personally look to Waves if I were you. Considering that Waves Central is now very accessible, I can actually recommend a lot of their plugins. Their hardware modeling is 100% authentic, so it isn't going to sound subpar just because it's software. Quite the opposite in fact.

Strange. I'm going to recompile it and re-upload it. Test it again because by the time you'll be reading this, I've probably already done so.

Re: Am I really that immature?

@turtlepower I'm glad you approve.  It honestly was one of the greater moments of my being out here on the forum, particularly since I do liked to resolve issues if and when they arise and hate to have any unfinished business or hard feelings.  NO matter who we are, where we are or where we want to be and where we're going in life, in spite of the fact that this is the internet of things and you can just turn it all off when it's all too overwhelming I still do my absolute best to treat people as people because they're people.  To not have offered an apology on my part would have been a jerkwad move regardless if you honestly commited said blunder or not; I know I'd feel the same way if the shoe were on the other foot. For me it was more about how you personally felt about the situation and I felt a need to do my absolute best to resolve it as cleanly as possible.  Sadly, I must admit as I'm  pretty sure that there was a point in time when my pride would have gotten in the way of my making or even trying to make the right decision because I wouldn't have honestly seen myself as having done anything wrong.  I'm glad this was not the case; I just wish others would start walking the extra mile...I knew I had it bad when I was at a party and was asked by one of the wonderful, elderly ladies who was there if I wanted more food.  I had already eaten quite a bit as it was.  In snarky sarcastic, satirical me joking fashion I perked up and asked, "What, do I look like I'm hungry?"  I learned after the party that she had taken the comment rather hurtfully even though I had meant it as a joke.  My initial reaction was, but I joke like that with all my friends!  She needs to freaking lighten up!  The blazes is her problem!  In the end, I apologized because the question wasn't one about whether what I said was even right or wrong, but one of having hurt someone else.  It's called humility and I wish I knew how to exercise it more effectively, though I do try my best.  This story in particular though taught me many nasty things about how humankind works; so often we're more interested in being right than being thoughtful and compassionate.I can honestly say that it would have been super easy to just look the other way where the situation on the forum with you on that topic was concerned, but am sincerely super glad I didn't.  It cost me only the time it took to say I'm sorry but was well worth the effort and as we can all with an ounce of common sense see, resulted in a rewarding experience for all parties involved, as we are able to mutually and warmly discuss this matter.

Re: The Site is Ruled by Rogue Dictators!

I mean, my opinion is that the mod team has been improving over the year. We're definitely in a better place then last year. I would actually like to publically commend Jayde for showing some growth. While I think he still has some things to improve on, I am glad to see him show some qualities that I would associate with a sober and fair minded leader. Again, he's not perfect, but growth is growth. As for the latest controversy on the fire, it's not too terrible. At least the updates got done in the end, even if it wasn't reminded in the most professional way. I thank Cartertemm for pushing past the unproffessional reminder, and doing his duty without snark. Even actually wrote the context to his ruling complete with links. A fairly solid post. Oh, and while I do realize Nocturnus is not a mod, his snark of a veteran mod is on point as always. LOL!!!  I always enjoy reading your posts, man. I'm sorry I'm not the target audience. I'm afraid the title had the opposite effect, and drew in those of  us who came to read an opposing opinion. LOL!!! I'm also curious why people think these actions are more ergant. I realize no one wants a repeat of last year's incident, but we should also be fair minded if we don't want to repeat those issues. No point in burning a system that could be fixed. I'm curious what people want. If they were more fast paced and harsh on their rulings, the mods could make terribly careless mistakes. If they took to long, though, it seems that people are way too quick to jump on them. I think if I had a preference, I'd rather them take more time and rule after a good discussion. It's slow, but it reduces the risk of careless mistakes.

Maybe you've got further on than I have Lord Lundin I don't know, I haven't run into any quest bugs or issues of that sort myself, and the   writing quality seems adequate enough for depicting the world. I've noticed a couple of typos, EG on one occasion my female character was referd to as "fellow" but nothing ground breaking or worse than many muds, indeed nothing that couldn't be cleared up with a simple typo report command. then again, I freely admit in terms of mud playing I don't go through the writing with a fine tooth comb, and so long as the descriptions are atmospheric I don't mind a misplaced comma here and there.I haven't had time to play recently as much as i'd have liked and am still level 11, but if I run into anything serious like none working quest bugs I'll mention as much, since  is the sort of thing that would irritate me, but nothing of that sort so far, indeed  mostly extremely impressed as I said.

One of my problems with all the mods is that they have letters in their names, which we all know really means they're absolute dictators.  I mean, we all know that every dictator's name started with a letter, ended with a letter, and had letters throughout the rest, including the middle of their names.Another problem I have with them is that they breathe.  Seriously, have you ever seen anything that didn't breathe be dictatorial?  Once upon a time when things breathed not I bet there was a mass of peace that reigned supreme in nothing-nothing land...Oh, and another problem?  For the love of all why do they even have to post MODERATION! Like it means something!  I mean anyone who posts the word MODERATION?  All they're doing is like showing off their powertrip desires and a need to clamp down on people!  You should never post the word MODERATION!  EVER!  And for that matter, you should never have the word moderator atatched to your existence!Ok ok, I really couldn't resist... I do hope this discussion takes off in a productive fashion.

I do not know a synth that does this out of the box, unless you are more than willing to put up with Jtalk speaking in a heavy Japanese accent for reading English stuff, and it reads numbers in Japanese. Funly enough, that's about what I did, switching back to e-speak when I just needed to deal with English when I was done with my Japanese studies for the day. Otherwise, grab the duel-voice plugin: https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/ … ce.en.html That should do what you want. All you need after that is jtalk.

I just want to be able to play the music while I work on something else. I would like a sort of auto advance option on the sound test feature that would move you to the next song after this one was finished, and you could enable or disable it. But I also think Aaron is done writing code for this game because we haven't seen any updates to the code. So it's all a pipe dream anyway. Introducing RagePillow - Take out your rage in a game-friendly environ

Taken from the readme:RagePillow is a fun entertaining rage-killing game, that allows you to take out all your bottled up feelings on a virtual human, which is known as the ragetaker. The ragetaker understands that you need to let it all out, so it'll voluntarily do nothing while you bash at it.You are given a handful of weapons to do as you please with the human: kill it, talk to it, or just have fun. There are several in-game modes to suit your raging needs, such as the "insane mode," which gives the ragetaker 100 health, or the "random mode," where the ragetaker's health is chosen between 5 and 50.If you have any weapon suggestions or in-game issues that need resolving, please let me know, as this is 1.0 and bugs/issues are expected.Download Link:http://tunmi13.jennios.com/projects/RagePillow.zip.Enjoy!

Re: Am I really that immature?

Nocturnus, the example you gave of solving a forum conflict was a good one. Since I was the other party involved, I'll just say that it was much more of a blunder on my part than yours. Once it was pointed out that I had, in fact, said my real name on here before, which I had legitimately forgotten about, I apologized, and there were no hard feelings, at least from my side. I could have, in hindsight, messaged the mods privately about it, though I thought that would only stir up more flames given the unrest within the team at the time. Had that situation happened now that things are a bit more stable, I would have done just that. What I would not have done, then or now, is constantly antagonize anyone, no matter their rank, just because I can. In the grand scheme of things, my grievance was pretty minor anyway, so to do so, and to hold a grudge about it, would have been ridiculous. I hope some of the newer members read that topic you linked to and took the way it was handled to heart, at least.

For those who say steam sucks, have you tried it recently recently? I love it and it works greatly.

I just beat the main story, this game plays well on pc. At the start of levels (usually just after a cutscene ends) the game's input will lag for a bit and I'm not really sure why. I don't think I had this problem with the IOS version.

That doesn't make any logical sense though. Jayde, Cartertem... both of these two have the same privileges. Just because one does more than the other in no way means that that person somehow holds more authority than the others who are more "in the background".

Re: Currently available portable talking book players.

Nah, that won't work for me, I do NLS all the time. Audible too though to a lesser extent. I'm not really worried about a ton of wireless features. I mean, I don't know what you want to see that they don't do, but I'm fine with what they actually do. I realize I'm imposing hardware/software restrictions on myself, e.g. as opposed to a phone or such which has already been pointed out, and I'm fine with that. I also realize there are ways to deal with things that you won't talk about, but I'm not interested in hem, both because of legality and because they take forever. I'm looking for convenience here.I'm just looking for decent info to evaluate the players so I make sure I'm picking a decent player. If, for instance, the Stream's keypad dies after a year regularly, clearly it won't be a good option. If the Plextalk doesn't have good support, again, not a good option. The bottom line is, I guess, I debated between one of these players and a new iPod, they'd be around the same price because I'd just get the iPod with the most memory. Like I said, I've got issues with the iPod. They're solved with the players, e.g. buttons for quicker access to controls, uniformity of dealing with content, both in terms of transferring it to the player and playing it, and so on. I can upgrade the capacity as much as I need to by just buying more memory cards. It's down to the Stream or a Plextalk because they both seem to be currently available, and they seem to have similar features, e.g. the types of files they can deal with and so on. I was originally just going for the Stream but like I said, the PT seems to be the same price, and has similar features. So if there's something that's really better with one over the other, it would help to know that. PT's site seems a bit more disorganized than Humanware's, but maybe they have great support anyway. Anyway, I'm looking for experiences, not alternatives, unless they're equivalent to those two players. I use NLS and Bookshare pretty much every day, and the only reason I'm not using Audible is because I'm currently reading an NLS series. So that's why I've picked these two players as contenders.

Re: ALure and linker errors

@pauliyobo, that is no problem. Send me an email. To be clear, this is just an example I quickly threw together for Lightsome. It is mostly so he could examine my sound API and how I call into OpenTK and the decoders to get everything working together. It is not an interesting example of HRTF. It just plays a sound in front and to the left of the listener.I expect Lightsome to make it more interesting by moving the sound around on its own or in response to keyboard input.I just want that to be clear so you are not disappointed.

Re: Looking for a mixer

2020-01-22 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : pitermach via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Looking for a mixer

I bought a GoXLR 2 weeks ago after Talon got one a few months back, because he seemd to like and recommend it. I wanted to write a review about it with an emphasis on accessibility, and I'll still do this to give people detailed information about it and expand on what I'm about to say. But in short, for the person that it was aimed for, it's an excellent device. What I mean by that is the GoXLR is designed for people streaming games on Twitch or YouTube from a computer. So instead of having a ton of physical inputs, either as RCA or 6.3 MM jacks, you get just a single line-in apart from your microphone which can be either XLR or 3.5 MM.However, on-top of these, you get 5 channels over USB which are all exposed as separate audio devices in Windows that you can direct sound to, as well as 2 input devices. These are also available as ASIO if used in a DAW like Reaper. You can root the audio from these channels in any way you wish and assign the 4 faders to any of the channels or your microphone gain to quickly adjust their volume. For your Microphone, the GoXLR has a built-in EQ, compressor, Deesser and noise gate which can help you sound better without buying additional hardware or making you have to run your audeio through software effects. There are 2 models, the regular GoXLR as well as the recently released goXLRMini, the main difference being in addition to everything described, the regular model also has an additional effects processor that can do pitch shifting, reverb, distortion and auto-tune and a sampler which lets you play and record samples quickly using 4 large pads.Software wise, the device itself is all physical buttons and faders. You need the software and drivers, which are Windows only, to use it. This is where you run into the one major annoyance. The GoXLR app was written using the juice UI toolkit, which is famous for being completely inaccessible and whose developers have made a concious effort in not caring about improving the situation. That being said, TC-helicon gaming were extremely helpful here. When Talon bought his GoXLR and discovered the problems and reached out to them on Twitter, they hooked him up with the main software developer. Hopefully, we will see accessibility improvements in the software in the future as from what I know they are investigating things like Tolk to work around the UI problem. In the meantime though, said developer helped us out with figuring out a way to use it.All of the configuration for the GoXLR is stored as plain text in XML files, which can just be edited in any text editor like notepad. This way you can enter in pretty much everything you need (Adjust the compressor, Gate and EQ, set volumes, change audio routing, put the 4 faders in different channels, etc). So even though the software itself isn't accessible, you can still adjust your settings and the workaround of manually editing XML files isn't as bad as some of the software used by other audio interfaces where there's sometimes literarly nothing you can do or use autohotkey scripts that click on mouse coordinates which could break if a window is moved in the wrong place. For your particular use case, you can definitely hook up an echo to the GoXLR via the line-in. For Google, it might be more of a problem because none of the Google home speakers have an audio output on them. So I don't think there's any mixer that would be able to support a Google home, unless you get something like an Android phone with a headphone jack and use that as a fake google home speaker.

I know the newbie islands pretty much inside out.BTW, you don't have to trigger the red fern at all. You don't have to say Distemper or anything else. That's just a handy clue.Go to Polliwog swamp, look for a room that mentions the smells of strange flowers (it's 1 west of the rocky island with the newt). Search there over and over till you find a red fern. Then go to the farmer in Stillwater, talk to him, just to be sure, then go south, type "use fern dog", then talk to the farmer. Boom. Done.

Re: Cosmic Rage, a futuristic MUD unlike any other

It just seems like an archaic system to me, and it really bugs me as a player. I wouldn't have so much of a problem if the autosave item was obtainable in another way besides needing to pay for it with cash, or being lucky enough to get on for the anniversary event and get a lot of cash points like I did for my only character. Those kinds of loopholes though are more luck in my opinion than anything, and it just seems to me like it's an extra very minor thing that most people are probably writing a timer to script anyway, which, if I'm reading the policies correctly, is illegal.

Help Getting Started

Hi Folks,I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me out with something. I am not currently a developer myself, but I have recently taken a great interest in attempting to learn what I would need to know so that I might try to develop a game of my own. Can anyone recommend a good resource that I can use to help me get started in terms of learning how to do this. I have seen lots of information regarding programming and coding, but there's just so much out there that I just can't figure where to start with this. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
