Trenton, your post was cut.Serrebi, the reasons that one would choose to purchase a Polaris are that it offers far superior braille quality to BrailleBack, and I believe that the method it uses to connect the braille display and standard apps is superior to Talkback.

Re: Fruit pot

Well Slj, Good kto know about unlocking more minigames, since generally unlocking stuff is something I prefer in the game itself (it's an incentive to play more and a reward). I did check some of the comments over on applevis and they answered a few things. firstly, it seems the stopwatch is for whyen you have many symbols to increase your chances  of getting three in a row, I do use it to hide some of the lesser paying symbols when I can, though since once you activate the stopwatch it automatically spins all reals you can't do it in conjunction with holds or nudges, so generally I only use it when I have nothing else to use. With the hero credit games I still don't know when you get more credits for them, but it seems looking and the instructions that yes you pretty much do! just spin and hope. I still don't exactly get the five reals and lines thing, but basically it doesn't seem there is any strategy to those any beyond just hi
tting spin until you run out of credits.Lastly according to the applevis comments, the video adds thing is fairly recent and no, the videos are not accessible so the only way to fix it is! to restart fruit pot which is a miner pest but probably worth it for the extra nudges and holds.

Re: A mudding guide for newbies, questions and suggestions please

Hello, so just a quick update on that issue I had with Mush not reading the last paragraph of new text.  TSP on the new yugioh mud's chat alerted me to the cause of the issue and explained it rather well.  I found an old article that might explain it a bit better than I can, so I will paste it below:note on promptsMUSHclient, and these plugins, process complete lines only. This means that certain lines, such as prompts with no newline at the end will be spoken after the next line comes in. There are several ways around it.For muds that support it, enabling Convert IAC EOR/GA to new line in the Output item of the configuration will translate certain telnet sequences into a newline for you. You may have to enable it mud-side (e.g. config +telnetga on smaug). If your mud doesn't support it, enabling this won't hurt anything. Most muds allow you to put a newline after your prompt, or turn it off entirely. help prompt will usually say ho
w.In character creation where this is usually an issue, you'll just have to review the screen in order to read the last line of output that may have come in.If you want to provide specific instructions on how to get to the config option: Convert IAC EOR/GA to new line, it is as follows: Game > Configuration > Output > Second to last checkbox is Convert IAC EOR/GA to new line.Stewy, on the same yugioh chat also mentioned that if you toggle auto-retype it will read the last line for you.  This is due to the client then indicating that the option has been toggled and thus adds a new line to the output.  One can use this to get through the character creation as mentioned in the quote from the article above.  It appears that VIP does not have this issue due to it automatically adding a new line after a certain amount of time has elapsed without there being one.Since I have picked up this issue in at least four MUD's duri
ng my testing, I think it is important that you add this to the guide.

We also need to educate ourselves, which is why I love it when people ask me questions about my disability, because they learn and they realise that the stereotypes they hold of us are very untrue. They question the myths that they have been told. It is only if we answer questions and show the world through both what we have to say and our actions that we have something to offer the world that extends beyond our blindness--that we can be employed, we can participate in a wide range of leisure activities, and we can live and thrive just as they do. As someone once told me, "People are naturally curious. And they love to learn." So I try to be approachable and friendly with people, and try to engage them when they ask me questions. And while I am
very used to answering standard questions about such things as braille or travelling around without vision, my favourite question to be asked is "If you could get vision, would you?" The reasons that I really enjoy answering this question are that my answer surprises most people, and I know how stressful it must be for the person asking the question because they do not know how the other person will respond, so when they disregard their nerves and ask the question, I can tell that they are genuinely interested in what I have to say, and are starting to realise that I am an individual and not the stereotype of a blind person--a true sign of success.

Well I agree with hammer that unfortunately it seems human tribalism is inherent, indeed I tend to think myself that the "fall" in the biblical sense probably had nothing to do with snakes or apples, and a lot to do with the day that one cave man said "this cave ours get out!" . That being said I do fully well agrew tih Tjt that if people didn't teach  there would be considerably less oof it, the amount of times I've walked past a child and their parent and the child asks innocently something like "why is he carrying that stick?" or "Why is that man walking with that dog?" And the parent replies in clearly a "don't go near" voice "sh! he's blind!" As though it were  something dirty that should be hidden and not talked about. Actually I remember one occasion
on a train  a nine year old girl saw me reading a braille book and asked her mum "why is he touching that book" and me feeling unusually extravert when she said "s! he's blind!" I decided I wouldn't have it and talked to the little girl, explaining what braille was, showing her some of the symbols etc. Ironically, the child was quite accepting  and just interested, but the mother was very uncomfortable and ended the conversation as soon as possible. To what extent this was fear of blind people, and to what society's general paranoia about men I do not know, (I did tell the mother I was a post graduate student since for some reason students are held as a little less potentially harmful than most men), but she still was clearly far less accepting than her daughter, which is pretty depressing. Then again I don't think this is something u8nique to England, it's just people generally being scummy!

That is very odd since I was running vipmud 2.0 on an xp laptop until quite recently, so it presumably isn't just xp that is causing the issue.  Have you tried installing Kitchinsinc since that has all of the vb runtime components that are needed, also ~Aprone's games with the checkup file are handy too, and even if it is an xp machine it might still be missing some dependencies.

Okay, I recall we once had a topic like this a while ago but goodness knows where it is, and since we have goodness  how many members now it might be fun to have another one. So where in the world are people from? Feel free to give as much info as you want, though at least knowing the country might be nice.I will go first.I put my location as "the ivory tower" reflecting my generally academic status, and the fact that I love the one in never ending story. However I am actually living with Mrs. Dark in my flat in Durham in the north of England, this is a small, old  city with a 12th century cathedral, many stwisting cobbled streets and old  buildings on the river Tine where it is continually damp, rainy and rather cold, (well we are close to the Scottish boarder). The most famous thing of course is Durham university, which has buildings all round the city including the philosophy department which is where I tend to go.The center i
s unfortunately  rather built up and fairly busy, though it isn't a huge  place like London or Bermingham since I do not like big cities. Shortly of course (as in in probably a month or so), Mrs. Dark and I are moving to Newark. This is a small market town in Nottinghamshire about 45 minutes from the city of Nottingham where my parents live (and where I certainly would not! consider living). the place where we will be living is opposite Newark castle which will be cool, just close to the river, but also within walking distance of shops and the train station. so how about everyone else? Btw, no need to describe your town if you don't want to, and of course do not mention your address, it's just  with some topics recently about different countries I thought it might be nice to get a brief idea of where people are especially because audiogames.net is a nicely multicultural forum, also I admit I do get a bit bemused when people sa
y things like "I live in the west" and my first thought is "the west of where?" Since manifestly everybody does not live in the same country .

Audio Maze first demo

2017-07-25 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : Steve via Audiogames-reflector

Audio Maze first demo

Hi everyone!I've managed to complete the first revision of my game Audio Maze, if you would like to try it out I'd love some feedback! The game is early in development so a lot of things haven't been implemented as yet, I wanted to try and make sure that the audio was okay before going too far with it. For now the object of the game is to collect the musical beacons from around the maze, once one is collected another one will pop up at a random place within the maze. The walls make a burning noise to help guide you around. All of the audio in the game is binaural so it should be possible to tell where the sound is coming from, it works best with stereo headphones but speakers will still work.I have included a read me file in the folder with instructions for the controls and a little bit about the game, I've been using a combination of Windows screen reader, VI simulation goggles, and just leaving the monitor off to try and make
sure that it's accessible but please let me know if there are any problems. One thing I have found is that if you are using Windows screen reader then you may have to turn off the option to lower the volume of other apps while it's in use because it turns the game sound down too much.*EDIT I forgot to say it's for a Windows 32 or 64 bit machine. I've only tried it on Windows 10 so far because that's the only system I have.Click here to download! The file is quite large at 320MB and the link page might say that the file is too big for Google to virus check it, I don't know how to get round that, I promise there is no virus! You might have to click continue first. If there is a preferred hosting site then I'll re-upload it. It's a zipped file that will need to be extracted first and then you just have to click on Audio
Maze.exe and the game will start straight into the first level because there is no title screen at present, just press the escape key to end the game.I plan to add more revisions in the coming months and have plans for enemy AI, scoreboards, and different maps. Some of you might recognise what game this current map is based on but I don't think it will be easy!Hope you have fun and I appreciate any feedback good or bad. Thanks! Steve.

anyway to stop the cheaters on the main server? seems like they can shoot through walls. also they never go offline and have insane amounts of kills. seems like they have some kind of script or something that can just run and kill people without the user having to do anything. no one can stay on a game for 24 hours without getting bored of it.

I think it's the same unless you are using their stock apps. In the demo, talkback talked over their SR. Maybe braille is customized too. No one should feel bad for choosing this kind of option if it is what they are used to/need.

Re: describe where your from

Well, I am from Albania, a small country geographically situated in southeast of Balkan peninsula. I live in the north of Albania, in a neither small nor big city, called by its natives Shkodër, in Latin it's called Skadar, and Italians used to call it Scutari. It is, in fact, my birthplace. If you begin to study Albanian culture, history, literature, or any other field, it is imposible to not meet the name of my city, which is also my favourite city in Albania, and in the world. It is by far the most cultural city in Albania, with an immense contribution to history, customs, traditions, humour, sport, literature, music, theology, ethnography, and education. Due to its contribution in the afore mentioned fields, it has been often suggested the status of capital of Albania, but since my city has never been in line with my government, the officials have refused to choose this city as the capital of our country. Instead, they chose an agricultural city, but that was also for some historic reasons which still do not justify their actions. I really like this city, its people, its culture, its music, and particularly its subtle humour that its citizens make!

Re: New Yu-Gi-Oh game being created

Well, since Starlord seems to have simply washed his hands of the soundpack he was working on, I'm thinking about polishing the last version I was able to get a bit and putting it up for people to get unless he objects to it. This would include putting the duel triggers in a class that gets enabled/disabled when a duel starts/ends, fixing it so that different sounds play when a monster VS spell/trap card is destroyed, and matching the volume of all the sounds so everything plays at the same volume. The structure of the pack wouldn't change so VIPMud 1 and 2 users could both use it, and all original documentation would be included. I actually wanted to do this before on my own copy of it, but his changes would have overwritten mine whenever it was updated so I held off on it. Now that he's decided not to work on it any longer, I can at least modify it for my use. Note that I won't be doing anything crazy like adding the music support he wanted to add. I'd l
ike to keep it as original as possible. It just needs a few fixes.Again, this is all assuming Starlord is okay with it. If he asks for this not to be done I won't do it, or if he asks that it be taken down I will comply. Wy? Because this was originally his code and, while it's pretty silly to remove it and say screw everyone in a fit of rage that's similar to that of the Winged Dragon of Ra, he does have the right as the creator to ask people not to modify or distribute it. I'm grateful to him for starting the pack so I didn't have to, and I only wish to take over where he left off so other people can enjoy it.

I'm wondering what can a city with 1.4 million people offer that  a city with less than a million people cannot. Bigger area to cover? Perhaps you like to go one end to the other one to feel alive or something? As to talk about discrimination, if there's any such place, please let us know. I'm sure whole seven billion of us want to move there. lol. And I agree with Braille's post, You want to be a cop? How are you going to manage that without an ability to see what's in front of you much less a criminal. And becoming best friends forever nowadays depends on where you live? And completely honest politicians or peeps who  look the other way when they are being offered much more than they could get in their entire lifetime? lol, I guess I'm little exaggerating. But, seriously No corruption and no discrimination and nice people and  dream land where you do whatever you want and get whatever you want. I'm sure you'll find it some d

Dark wrote:...and of course do not mention your addressDark, depending on the descriptions given, an address isn't even needed right?  ROFL!  (Just remembering the last topic like this from years ago)I live in a city called Redford, in Michigan (USA).  A very busy 9 lane road, with no pedestrian crosswalk, separates us from being in Detroit.  Just like a river can serve as a boundary in nature, keeping predators and prey in close proximity without them actually interacting, this road keeps us extremely close to the conditions of Detroit while we remain relatively safe.  By safe I am referring to crime rates and streets that look like we're post war under foreign occupation.  It sounds a little over dramatic, but on my side is a pretty nice neighborhood and on the other 1 in 5 houses has rotted enough to cave in in places or fall over, there are mounds of trash in
the yards, and if you walked there even in the day you run a real risk of being mugged at gun point. My neighborhood is not bad at all.  I have no reservations walking around even at night.  People on the Detroit side rarely risk death trying to cross that road, and if they're willing to drive out looking to cause trouble, they travel further than the other side of a single street.  We're in a nice position, in a crazy sort of way. With Detroit to the east, everything we do is either directly west.  While not really the sort of distance I'd want to walk, 3 or 4 miles west of us has 2 nice shopping centers with all the stores we ever need.  There's a little bit of everything, and the 2 shopping centers are almost competing with each other by bringing in nicer and nicer things over the past few years. The hub where my wife and I work is right next to one of those shopping centers, so we don't have to drive far each d
ay.  It saves a ton on gas and time, because we rarely spend more than 7 or 8 minutes driving to get to work or to go shopping.

Re: describe where your from

I'm from Ulaanbaatar Mongolia. As you may be wondering, yes here we have internet, computer, electricity and such. Some people think that we still live in thirteenth century, herding livestock and brandishing our swords. snort. But anyway, Ulaanbaatar is definitely becoming one of the nicer cities in Asia, if not for the whole world. As to describe about it, we have around 1.5 million people live in the capital Ulaanbaatar, it is ironic that i know, about the half of Mongolia's population live in single city. Lol Mongolia is located in central Asia, neighboring with north to Russia and to the south with China. We have 1.5 million kilometer square land and no sea or any other seaport. It's landlocked or some such if I remember the term correctly. The official language is Mongolian, and we use Cyrillic alphabet courtesy of Soviet union. We have our own Traditional script too, but less popular in use. I live in a flat with my grandma, on the northern bank of the river
called Dund Gol. Everything here is at walking distance, bus-stop, stores, supermarkets and restaurants. Literally it is just an average living ground  in modern society. As to talk more about Mongolia, yes, there are still many people in Mongolia in the rural parts who live as nomads, herding livestock and moving one place to the other by following more suitable place for livestock to grow. We have farms, and people grow rice, vegetables and fruits here, besides being herdsman. And about  the weather, it is really highly continental dominied climate we have here in Mongolia, warm summer and long cold winters. We have Gobi desert in southern side of Mongolia, which is the fifth biggest desert in the world If my memory serves me right. Anyway, enough of this rambling and if you have any questions, just ask is all.

I'm from the North West of England, in a town about half way between Liverpool and Warrington. According to its wiki entry, it's home to the second narrowest street in Britain at just 26 inches. That always gives me a grin and makes me think of the brilliant Weird Al song: Lame Claim to Fame. It rains a lot, could do with a large injection of financial investment, which unbelievably it might be getting thanks to a crackpot scheme, and is your typical grim-up-North kind of place.

Re: Interactive audio fiction with Earplay!

Will the "reactivated" Codename Cygnus actually continue the story from where the iOS Cygnus app left off? Or will it just bring the currently released Cygnus episodes to the Earplay platform. I want Mission 2 that we've been waiting 3+ years for!On a side note, I'm liking the weekly episotic comedy with the Earplay meeting on the platform. I'm hoping that "reactivated" is one of the stories released in August at some point, especially if it gives us what should've been mission 2 after we get through the new revised content.

Re: Audio Maze first demo

Hello Steve and welcome to the forum. In terms  of the location of this thread, new releases = new release games, including alphas, betas whatever. Just so long as there is something for people to download and play that is fine. I have downloaded and tried the game myself and  did have a few questions. I really like the echoing footsteps here and the beacons sound very cool, and of course w'ere always interested in someone creating new audiogames, especially those that involve exploring. I'd love more in the rpg field, but if you fancy something else that is fine too (other than space invaders games we've pretty much got a need for audio versions of every game genre). Now for the questions and feedback. firstlyI noticed that if I just walked forward the walls seemed to turn around me, indeed when I tested by walking directly towards a wall things seemed to turn. If you have the game set thus far to make the player turn
if she/he strikes a wall that probably isn't a good idea, ideally the player should stop moving at that point.I also wonder exactly how the walking works at this point.Since on the one hand you talk of "walking forward" and "left and right" but then you note that the left and right arrows are used to look around the place. So I presume the game is first person and the arrows are intended to turn the player to a given direction while w walks forward and a and d sidestep? Or is the gamethird person, ie, the player moves on a grid pattern with w north, d east etc, with the arrows being used to look in different directions?A bit of clarification might be helpful here since I wasn't exactly sure of the audio vs player movement at this point (I believe it is first person but again I am not certain).control layeIf indeed the game is! first person, you could consider using a more familiar layout for keyboard keys, i
ndeed a common one we've had  using a and d (or left and right arrows), on their own to turn the player, and control in conjunection with those arrows to snap to a %90 turn, with shift and arrow to sidestep (arrows or a s d w keys both work for this). You might also consider a way for the player to know their coordinates in space in the maze. I don't know if you think of this as something of a cheat, but one problem I did have was knowing which bits of the maze I had and had not explored. Hope some of this is helpful, and I look forward to seeing where this one goes.

Re: Our Great Adventure III -- now fully playable in English!

I asked that same question a few weeks ago. Yukio couldn't remember what his original thinking was. Someone suggested triangular numbers, but I couldn't get all the numbers to appear in that sequence, but I mightn't have understood the logic behind triangular numbers, and it still didn't explain why those particular numbers made a pattern. dd came up with a neat solution, which was to take the difference of the prior two numbers and add 25 to it. So the difference between 15 and 55 is 40, add 25 makes 65, added to 55 gets you 120. The difference between 120 and 55 is 65, add 25 = 90, add it to 120, and that's the next number in the sequence.

I'd just like to say, once again, that BGT is *** not *** a 'programming language'. You asked for a programming language that was easy. If you want to use a programming language that is fun to use, and, of course, that is easy, then use PureBASIC. Hell, even go learn VB.NET if you like.As for your other question, BGT is an easy option if you can be patient. The only problem is the fact that it's documentation is seriously out of date, and the tutorial hasn't been updated since... well, I think since version 1.0 was released.

Re: a NVDA question

Jaws behaves the same way. I think the logic behind it is that if you press the quick nav key for a particular element, you know you're cycling through that element so it classes the element type as of secondary importance. Whereas if you're arrowing through a page, it puts the element type first because if a heading, or link, or whatever had lots of words in it, it would be inefficient to put the element type second. I know how you feel when it comes to headings though. I hardly ever need to know whether something is a heading or not, so it would be nice if you could switch the priority when arrowing. I wouldn't want links to be announced that way though.

I also have an idea for the creation of an audio theme. How cool would it be to have a steampunk screen reader. Take some common mechanical sounds, add in a train whistle or two and boom! Steampunk screen reader is now a thing. It would sound amazing and with high quality sounds placed in a 3D stereo field it might become a type of sound artwork. Re: Can I still buy a copy of treasure hunt or get it for free?

I downloaded it off the archive. If I'm not mistaken, this should help. How you process orders online is dependent on what system you use for payment processing. I used to use PayPal. They allow you to enter information that will send a notification to your server when someone makes a purchase. Your server then takes that information and generates a license. That license unlocks the game for the purchaser. For example, I would ask the user for their hardware ID during their payment, and the payment would not process unless they provided this ID. Once my server received a notification from PayPal that they'd made a purchase, it would send me the hardware ID they provided. With the hardware ID in hand, it's easy enough to generate a license and deliver it to the user.Generating a license is also a highly custom process, which is probably why you're not getting direct answers. Typically it involves finding some data that is unique (such as a MAC ID
or drive serial number) and encrypting it. The encrypted form is called the license. The trick is to make the encryption process elusive enough where it's hard to guess how your game generated the encrypted version of whatever unique string you used. There are infinitely many ways to generate the license. You can complement bits, use a cypher pad, etc. Getting into encryption means you should have an understanding of encryption algorithms and it's far beyond what we'll discuss here. Essentially it boils down to taking the unique string and "playing with it."Once you have your encryption procedure down, testing for a valid license is simple. Your game will have the unique string, and the license, both of which are provided to it as part of the registration process. The game then takes the unique string, and performs the encryption on it to get the license. If the license it generates matches what the user said their license was given the unique string,
the license is valid. For example, assume you had a unique string X, encryption algorithm E, and resulting license Y. During payment, the user provides X. X is put through E, and results in Y. This is all done by the server. The user then provides Y to the game.Next, when the game loads, it either knows X already because it's generated by a hardware fingerprint or a self-generated unique string, or it's been provided to the game by the user. The game knows E, so it does exactly what the license server did: it puts X through E, and gets Y (we'll call this Y'.) Finally, if Y is equal to Y', the license is valid.including things like not using the computer's date change to restart a game's free trial. For this, all you have to do is find some super-secret place on the computer to store the trial information, like a hidden file somewhere. Only your game knows where that hidden file is. You can keep track of the trial expiration a
nd all that in there and not rely on the date.the above response was written by Munawar Bijani on GitHub when I asked him about using http://developer.paypal.com/

Google Assistant has just recently started rolling out support for en-GB with third party actions like ours, so UK users with Google Homes should be able to start Earplay without a problem very soon.Thank you for pointing out the online Alexa sim, Trenton! We use it as a testing environment. It's a free tool. Lirin & crashmaster - you can use echosim.io to play Earplay from your PC. VB6 has a similar switch.  Actually that switch is enabled by default, and you have to specifically turn it off if you no longer want to define everything in advance. The functions automatically changing to the correct type is part of that "advanced" setting as well.  Without that setting specifically enabled, you'd get the same sort of wrong-type error as in other languages.

Re: Programming language with easy syntax?

That was one of the things I hated about Visual Basic and PHP, no types.Sure, Visual Basic had types, but all it did with them was determine how to store the variable in memory. If a function called for a parameter of type A, but you provided a parameter of type B, Visual Basic would automatically change the parameter to the correct type.I learned programming using UCSD Pascal on an Apple II which had very strong typing as well as other rules like define it before you use it, and I still use all those rules when programming. To me those rules that Pascal forced on you made sense as the proper way to do programming, so I treat what ever language I happen to be using as if it was Pascal. In fact Pure Basic has a switch you can turn on that requires that variables and functions be defined before you use them and I always have it turned on.

Re: RTR Map Maker Help

Also does the map have to be a perfect square? Even some times when I have a perfict square surrounded walls it still crashes my server. Like say 110 by 110 and yet a map that's 500 by 500 loads fine. Any tips on what I'm doing wrong?

Re: describe where your from

Well, I am from Albania, a small country geographically situated in southeast of Balkan peninsula. I live in the north of Albania, in a neither small nor big city, called by its natives Shkodër, in Latin it's called Skadar, and Italians used to call it Scutari. It is, in fact, my birthplace. If you begin to study Albanian culture, history, literature, or any other field, it is impossible to not meet the name of my city, which is also my favourite city in Albania, and in the world.

Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy

You could make it self voicing. Sorry, I am using dictation on my iOS device.  Hi, nice game. After I disable all animations and ascii  I still see a lot of symbols in some places. I think this is a bug. Another idea, you could maybe record all of the text in the game and make it so voicing. Also, what about the ability to name your king.

Here's what I know so far:creating and assigning values to variablescreating and resizing arrayshow to create basic subroutines (Form_Load, Main, Etc.)Also, I did try an old version of the  JAWS demo (I think it was v15) and it did work rather well with the VB IDE. The only problems are (1) I'm not going to buy JAWS, just so I can use it for VB6 development, and (2) It only shows a few controls in the toolbox at a time (E.G. when you open the virtual toolbox, it doesn't show any controls, but controls are slowly added to the list over time during the VB session.)

Can't recall what's needed for making metal, and don't have access at the moment to stages above 14 so can't look. I imagine it'll involve finding the secret landing on 18-3, changing the dial to something between 3 and 9, then going back to 18-2, landing and seeing what falls.

There were some updates to close security gaps and it might have disabled such things. The trophies available are more for participation on the site (Read, rating, writing stories, etc)EDIT: Double checked and it looks like the Tower of Riddles one must still be working. Some people might have just changed their profiles and took down the images.2. You can if you want and there are even a couple of stories up there that aren’t in English. It’s just tougher for them to get a high rating (or a rating at all) due to most not bothering to read them.

I do think so, because I ordered super sports last year. However the multiplayer for any of the games has stopped working because their game servers are down, and there is no way to do a peer to peer connection. So unless you really like the single player mode of one of their games, don't bother.

So who has heard of SVGDraw01 I have been looking at the program and It could be used  to create pictures of floor plans and pictures of what the place would look like in 3d but I have been looking through the documentation and it sounds promising. I don't know if the developor looks at this board on the forum but it would be interesting to add the z access.
