2010/6/24 Lê Việt Quang levietquan...@gmail.com I think this error may be caused by Preprocessor startline: E:/ooo320_m19/solver/320/wntmsci12.pro/bin/rscpp @C:\Documents and Settings\Le Viet Quang\2F17.tmp, the file path should be mixed short path. I've tried to disable Mozilla. Visual Class Library (vcl)'s gtk plugin also depends on cairo and pango. You would face another error upon building vcl module sooner or later, however you disable Mozilla at the very beginning of build process. If you are not quite familiar with such libraries, cairo, pango, ... what I can help you is to stop install libraries under your $HOME directory and look for pre-compiled RPM packages delivered by the distribution vendor and install them in order to put them in the default directory such as /usr/lib. # yum search cairo # yum install cairo-devel On CentOS 5.2: $ rpm -qa | grep cairo pycairo-devel-1.2.0-1.1 cairo-1.2.4-5.el5 cairo-devel-1.2.4-5.el5 pycairo-1.2.0-1.1 As you can see, they are too old, and some libraries (gtk specific in this case), are linked to them. OOo 3.x requires a newer version of cairo and pango, so I have to install it *somewhere*, and $HOME is a place I thought of. Because I don't have another machine so the next time, I will create another account in my Linux box, and only use it for building OOo. In this way, I will not mess up with libraries, headers, bin, etc... in my $HOME. I cannot look into individual errors that you currently see because your build environment is somewhat strange. Most errors that you get come from the settings of your build environment, not OpenOffice.org's source code. How would it depend on environment? A shell is a requirement, tcsh and or bash are optional. Of course a shell is a bad example, like saying you need a kernel or a c library. But as far as environment, it doesn't matter if you use Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, etc., dependencies are still dependencies, either required or optional. OOo build is not platform independent unfortunately. So you make to build it for Linux, Windows, Solaris,... separately. This[1] is a good place to get started. [1] http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Building_OpenOffice.org Several links away from that page and you start to get something resembling useful, but that page doesn't make an attempt to answer my question. I think the simple approach is: follows that link, build, and post errors to think mailing list you have encounter. The best page I've found is http://tools.openoffice.org/build_env.html, but search for python and you see only --with-system-python. The questions are thus: As far as I can tell, tool.openoffice.org has almost nothing to do with building OOo. - Is package truly required or is it optional? - If package can be left out what function would be missing? This kind of information enables system developers/integrators to make more informed choices. As I said in the previous email: The list will be quite long and system dependent. Re: [dev] Detailed build deps
2009/2/13 Tor Lillqvist tlillqv...@novell.com: This kind of information enables system developers/integrators to make more informed choices. If no, then just start by looking at what dependencies the official build for your platform uses. Check the spec file in the source rpm or whatever corresponding file it is that your platform uses to direct builds starting from pstream OOo sources and dependencies. That should help get you started. I don't recommend using SRPMS to *RE*build OOo. You will fall into the so-called RPM dependency hell and we need to pay more attention to spec files, more build time is needed because we can't use ccache. If yes, then I still recommend you check how OOo is built for some version of some Linux distro that most closely resembles your platform. Tora says he has VMware images for those builds. You can ask him for a copy. -- Best Regards, Nguyen Hung Vu [aka: NVH] ( in Vietnamese: Nguyễn Vũ Hưng ) vuhung16plus{remo...@gmail.dot.com , YIM: vuhung16 , Skype: vuhung16dg A brief profile: http://www.hn.is.uec.ac.jp/~vuhung/Nguyen.Vu.Hung.html - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.org

Hi *, I did the followings: 1. svn checkout http://svn.services.openoffice.org/ooo/tags/DEV300_m40 2. And setup lots of stuffs above the stop 2.3 written in http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Building_OpenOffice.org#Hints 3. [dev] Re: [marketing] Re: [project leads] Re: [discuss] Re: OpenOffice.org Community Mapping Project
Hello, In my very humble opinion, OpenOffice.org is not a truly open. Main coders is a team working in German and they work locally. Language is not the problem but IMO this is what they want to do. OOo is a very big project( 9.8 MLOC) and it is quite hard to add a new feature, or fix a bug. If a local team( or a contributor) shows a bug and tags it WORK_FOR_ME( a stopper), chances are they get fixed with very low probability. Due to the big size, new comers will find it very hard to get started with OOo. The main reason, IMO( again) is that, core coders of the OOo project is not willing to share the knowledge. In my case, I am trying to submit some bugs to OOo qa. Most of them are still there, marked as NEW and a questions pops up in in mind: How OOo treats contributors? How QA works in OOo? The openness is heart of the Open Source developement model, an open file format and an open source csv are not enough. # Will be there another fork()? I am sure there will be. [dev] [Bug alike] OOO300 m2 Writer on Windows zoom too slow
Hi all, I notice a problem as described in the email title. I am not sure it is a bug so I post here, please verify if it in your environment How to reproduce: 1. Open OOO300 m2 Writer onWindows 2. Open any document( I copy some mixed and and graphics from a website) 3. Push the - and + button on the right-bottom of Writer to zoom See: http://flickr.com/photos/vuhung/2821210158/sizes/o/ Expected result: Pages get zoomed smoothly. Actual result: Writer stops responding for about 5 seconds, then get zoomed correctly. FYI, In my test( see the picture above), during the time when Writer hangs, the note( the yellow box) on the right collapsed into 2 rectangles. Sorry I couldn't take a screenshot with PrintScreen, but I will do it later with a camera. My environment: Windows XP SP3 Japanese, Celeron 3.0GHz, 1GB RAM. OOO3m2 build 9343, CWS:localisation30 Vietnamese. -- Best Regards, Nguyen Hung Vu ( Nguyễn Vũ Hưng ) [EMAIL PROTECTED] , YIM: vuhung16 , Skype: vuhung16dg Japan through an eye of a gaijin: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vuhung/tags/fav/

[dev] Minimum/Recommended system requirement of OOo 3.0
Hello all, Do we have any information on Minimum system requirement, or Recommended system requirement for the up coming OOo 3.0? We need to cover: 1. What OS can OOo 3.0 run on 2. Minimum/recommended memory 3. Minimum/recommended ( of course, this depends on platforms). # FYI, for example, Windows Vista officially has a page for that: # http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/system-requirements.aspx -- Best Regards, Nguyen Hung Vu ( Nguyễn Vũ Hưng ) [EMAIL PROTECTED] , YIM: vuhung16 , Skype: vuhung16dg Japan through an eye of a gaijin: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vuhung/tags/fav/

Actually someone has done that for 1.x vs. 2.0. but I didn't find anything for 3.0 http://www.oooninja.com/2008/05/responses-to-is-openofficeorg-getting.html Unfortunately, the dominant factor in how long it takes OOo to startup seems to be how fast the user's system responds to DNS queries, not on which OOo version they are using. See http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php?t=81345highlight=openoffice+startup for a discussion of this issue (and various workrounds). I suspect that most of the people who complain that OOo is really slow to start up are suffering from this issue, so won't see any improvements made in the OOo code base. Interesting! This is one of the factor that affects the startup time of OOo. IMHO, checking DNS or connecting to Internet at start is not a good thing to do. Users can do that later for they want to check for version update, cliparts or something. We should do it with users' acknowledgment, i.e, simply popups a windows and ask if OOo can connect to the Internet. -- Best Regards, Nguyen Hung Vu ( Nguyễn Vũ Hưng ) [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED], YIM: vuhung16 , Skype: vuhung16dg Japan through an eye of a gaijin: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vuhung/tags/fav/
Re: [dev] OOo 3 new features and performance speedup
2008/8/28 Tor Lillqvist [EMAIL PROTECTED] IMHO, checking DNS or connecting to Internet at start is not a good thing to do. Users can do that later for they want to check for version update, cliparts or something. I think the DNS lookups occur because it (unintentionally?) looks up the machine's name from DNS, or something like that. Wasn't that what the Mandriva bug report earlier linked to from this thread talked about? If the machine's name service APIs then don't recognize its own name without DNS lookups, you might get delays. Sorry, I misread that. I consider this a *bug* than a feature. We can't predict name resolving time, and as reported, it may takes 20-30 seconds for name resolving. We can do name resolving on demand. # Someone posted a quick fix using /etc/hosts # http://divinecode.wordpress.com/2008/02/03/openoffice-slow-startup-in-x86_64/ -- Best Regards, Nguyen Hung Vu ( Nguyễn Vũ Hưng ) [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED], YIM: vuhung16 , Skype: vuhung16dg Japan through an eye of a gaijin: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vuhung/tags/fav/
