Ok, then. There IS software for Linux.

Maybe Apache web server on the K4 and a browser on the tablet.

Re: [Elecraft] SVGA Screen save to memory stick

2020-09-27 Thread Nr4c
Use the P3 menu to set one of gibe sict buttons to this feature and when you
wish to save a screen, just tap the button.

Don’t have a P3 anymore but this worked for me. Utility save only saves to
computer file. The button saves to USB stick.

I always figured they wanted the dye for camouflage. But the real reason was
marketing. Women didn’t care for the old packaging.

Re: [Elecraft] K3 Receiver frequency adjustment

2020-09-20 Thread Nr4c
Look in the manual for Ref Cal calibration. But before you go Messing there,
tune radio to WWV on 10.000, 15.000 or 20.000 MHz and see if it’s really you or
the other guy that’s off.
Now check for procedure. The zero beat works well and can get you within a
Hertz or two

Re: [Elecraft] K1ZTE - KAT500

2020-09-12 Thread Nr4c
You need RF to cause the amp to know what band and freq you are using.
Keying then mic on SSB won’t generate RF until you speak. CW, AM, FM or RTTY
will generate RF when keying the mic (or tap the paddles in CW) and will
generate the RF to tickle the Amp and ATU.

Re: [Elecraft] KX3 microphone nut size

2020-08-29 Thread Nr4c
There were several answers, many were just wrong (1/4-20. Or likely).

But the absolute best answer was from Wayne of Elecraft who is sending out an
envelope with a nut. So who cares what size it is?

I think it might be 6X.75 (mm).

I think it was setup by users like you and me especially to discuss K4 stuff.

Yes. The Elecraft-K4 on Groups.io.

And I would like to see posts of when you got notice of shipping, order date,
delivery, and serial number. I think this could really clog up the regulars

the K4 group so as not to tie up this one with a lot of traffic not of interest

Try submitting a very small file, maybe two lines of log. See if it’s the

Re: [Elecraft] KAT100 memory question

 Oooops

I misread your email. You are asking about the KAT100 in the radio. I read as
KAT500.

Download the KAT500 manual and I believe segments are the same for both ATUs.

And “learning” process is the same.

Read the manual. There is a list of the frequency segments that can be stored

Re: [Elecraft] OT construction question

2020-08-17 Thread Nr4c
 Ic

I think you might be ok with a product like “JB Weld”. It’s a grey highly
viscous Epoxy that can be molded into shape and machined when completely cured.
Takes 24 hours to fully harden. Maybe 72 hours for full cure.

I’ve seen modelers repair broken engine lugs on a model engine. When cured,
drill out the mounting hole and remount the engine and go flying.

As for the little mounting pieces you can make them with a file or nobler.

Re: [Elecraft] Blasphemy! IC705 w/ KPA100

2020-08-09 Thread Nr4c
First off, the amp and tuner aren’t going to help you on 2 Meters or 70 CM.

And you're going to need a full 12 Volts at 20 Amps to power the combo. You
might as well use a 7300 and a dual band mobile.

Re: [Elecraft] K3S in QRP mode

2020-07-26 Thread Nr4c
It set it back to bare min CONFIG. Uninstalling all you installed options. You
have on filter, no KPA3, no ATU, etc. download the kit assembly manual from
Elecraft and go thru the Unstallation of each option.

I don’t know why owners jump to a EEINIT to solve problems. There are less
distructive ways. Starting with restoring a saved good CONFIG file

And reloading latest firmware.

Re: [Elecraft] Convert a KXUSBa cable to KUSB

2020-07-17 Thread Nr4c
A DB15 is not going to connect to the DE 9 on the back of the radio. A DB15 is
a much larger connector.

Also, converting the KXUSB to use on a K3 is not going to provide all the
signals that the KUSB has. No RTS/DTR.

No. At field it’s batteries. At home an Astron 35m linear or any or several

The field setup may be one or two AGM batteries. Nominal voltage 12-12.8 volts.

[Elecraft] [K3] S/N 45## low power out and ATU not tuning properly?

2020-06-28 Thread Nr4c
This started several years ago at a FD. Brought home and worked perfectly.
took to another outdoor event and same thing. Works at home not at events.

Pulled KPA3 out and applied Deoxit and worked connectors in/out several times
and replaced KPA3. Worked well thru two FDs and number of other events. And as
main radio after selling my K3S last summer ($ for K4D). Took down and packed
it up for FD about 6 weeks ago and replaced it with an IC-7300 till the K4
arrives.

This AM it started again at FD!

Could this be an LPA issue instead of the KPA3 issue? Can’t remember if my
KPA3 has gold pins or not.
