[Elecraft] K3 observations from the reflectors
>From the looks of it, at least 100 K3s are now on the air. A number of them have been through one or more of the major contests. Several have been on DXpeditions. There have been a couple construction related issues posted and I've heard one has gone back to the factory for a look see. Other than firmware changes, it looks like the rig will have minimal hardware issues. Firmware doesn't really sound like a problem to me. The fact that it continues to develop and improve is very positive IMHO. There are hams here that still have firmware issues with mature products from other manufacturers. Am I disappointed that I don't have the radio yet? Sure. Would I like more frequent updates than we have been getting? Sure. Do I understand why they aren't as frequent? Yes. Elecraft has had to do some things (winding toroids, if nothing else) they didn't expect to need to do. I'm not sure many companies would have taken that task on to keep product moving out the door. That alone implies that the technical folks had to check the non-technical folks work, time consuming, but guarantees that minimal defects creep into the product. Cool. In addition, they've added new staff to deal with vendor issues and regain some control given up by using outside vendors. It takes time to get new folks into the swing of things, even skilled labor. My "faith" in Elecraft isn't shaken. I've had conversation with folks who have K3s and whose opinions I trust and expect a great radio. I expect, if I do have a problem with my K3, that Elecraft will make it right (or better yet, help me make it right). Maybe I'll have to call instead of sending an email, whoop-de-doo. I see a few fellow contesters are picking up used K2s. I know a number of us are still very pleased with the K2 contesting mojo. I don't particularly like the turmoil on this reflector. Sadly, it's not unique to this reflector... Wishing all the peace that is supposed to go along with the season, regardless of faith. [Elecraft] K3 RTTY setup with MMTTY
I'm running into problems interfacing my K3 with MMTTY on transmit. First, I'm unclear as to whether a keying interface (simple NPN 1K combo) is needed for the FSK IN and DTR? I am guessing that FSK IN comes from the TXD line out from the computer and DTR from the DTR out. Then under the COM Port Radio Command, I'm not sure what needs to be specified. Do we chose Kenwood (like N1MM in the old days) or does it require something special? How easy is it to damage the RS-232 / AUX I/O on the K3, if one makes the wrong connection? Color me baffled, but I seem to have lost the ability to adjust my receive RF level from the front panel. It's locked at S9 on the meter. [Elecraft] K3 problems
I've had a number of things crop up since trying to get on RTTY. There may be no link to trying to get the rig going on FSK, and the issues are noted in CW mode (my primary activity). There have been several one-time error messages. The most recent one being: E 0444A7 ERR DSE. I've received overtemp warnings on 160, even though I had not been transmitting on the first key down. I've checked the PS, one that I've been using for years. It is metered and the output voltage does not waver. I've checked it with a Fluke in Rx and Tx, and it reads 13.4VDC/13.3VDC respectively. The K3 internal meter reads 13.3 and 12.2! That doesn't seem right. Also, I seem to have lost control of my RF Gain pot. It does not function in AGC, either F or S. Sometimes I can get it to work in AGC-OFF, cycling the radio on and of seems to place it back in the non-functioning mode as does changing bands. I've put all of the AGC settings back to factory default. Same problem. I'm using the last official firmware release 2.78 and whatever the associated DSP firmware was. It might be something blatantly obvious, but I'm missing it. Any suggestions before I go batty? Thanks, Julius Wanted to put the second Rx in, but with this weirdness, I'm holding off. Re: [Elecraft] K3 problems
Gary, I do see a difference between two cables. Both are the same gauge, one from a K2 kit and the other some "scrap" from a hamfest. This is a different PS too, slightly higher output voltage about 13.8 VDC to begin with. With the K3 internal meter I read 13.7 in Rx and 13.4 in Tx. Much better spread... Powerpole on one end 1/4" lugs on the other. The other issues seem a bit better, which makes me wonder if there is something in the internal power in chain not doing it's job... [Elecraft] CW Keyboards
For those who need or want a CW Keyboard, I would recommend K1EL. www.k1el.com I've built three of his kits, and you can get the USB kit built. They work well. The only caveat I would have is setting up the drivers for the WKUSB. Some of us have had a lil' trouble, depending on one's OS. [Elecraft] Looking ahead to Field Day - roofing filter question
Bill, In my CW opinion, I would say you don't need a filter for FD use. While popular, it doesn't hold a candle to the harsh conditions during a 160M or major DX contest, such as CQ WW on 20M. The 500 Hz filter is a good choice for general contesting and semi-crowded conditions. For casual CW, you probably don't even need a special CW filter with the K3. The beauty of the uber-narrow filters in excessively crowded bands is that you can really kill most of the garbage outside of your filter's pass band. I think it's been stated here before, unless you have serious needs, like contesting, the K3 does great bare bones and added roofing filters are not necessary. I'll be hauling my K2 out for FD, love the "all-in-one" QRP package. 73, Julius Julius Fazekas N2WN Tennessee Contest Group TnQP http://www.tnqp.org/ Elecraft K2/100 #4455 Elecraft K3/100 #366 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] K3 choppy CW
Hi Andy, No argument on the advantages/disadvantages of using WKUSB with the K3. But you don't "have" to have it, even with a USB to serial interface. Too, I haven't any experience with Vista and WKUSB, so can't make an experienced comment on that combo. My experiences with loading the drivers is simply noted to save someone else the headache some of us have had... Re: [Elecraft] K3 choppy CW
Erik, No you can use the paddles with N1MM and just the K3. The K1EL is for computer generated CW. Some of us have a hard enough time typing, tuning, using a key AND keeping up a decent rate ;o) For casual contesting, without using computer generated CW, you really don't need WKUSB, the paddles will do it. Re: [Elecraft] K3 QRPp
Hi David, I have a combo Tee. It has about 72' of vertical aluminum (2.5" tapering to 1.5") with a two wire sloping tophat. They slope down about 10 to 15 degrees, uneven to the nearest tall trees. The base of the antenna is about 10' away from the corner of the house and maybe 20 from the operating desk... I do have a short beverage. It's 330' long made from coax, meant to be bi-directional, but on seems to work towards EU. I don't use it a lot as my QTH is reasonably quiet. It does help in contests and in noise. Rx antenna(s) is probably my weak spot, can't put up a longer beverage, and recently the neighbors calves have found the wires on the beverage ummm tasty :o( I have plans for a new antenna using an AB-621 as the base for a slightly taller (82') and thicker (6" tapering to 3") vertical section. I have a lot of radials, ranging from 10' to 120', with most being around 40 to 60' long. Re: [Elecraft] K3's RF Clipping Speech Processing
The higher clipping parameter seems to make the higher pitched voice less understandable. There does seem to be some "mushiness" to the lower pitched voice, but for my ears it seems less prominent. The crispness of the 25 setting is how I would like to sound. I've had good reports with mine set at 30, but I can hear enough of a difference that I'm willing to go with clarity. It doesn't seem to give up much in the way of "punch"... [Elecraft] K3 band buttons
Hi Doug, Thanks for the contest Qs! Always nice to pick up the EI multiplier. As to the band button discussion, depending on your logging software, band and mode switching is easily accomplished by typing in where you want to go in N1MM. I rarely use the band or mode switches on my K3 when playing. It took me a while to "discover" this method, and now I'm not sure how I lived without it ;o) I believe that you can even pick how the software determines mode in the setup panel. It's a breeze to move between CW and SSB. Adding RTTY is a bit more complicated as you need to open the digital interface. So far I'm just SO1R and there's enough going on there that adding another monitor look like a useful option, if not another computer! It's easy enough to get the contest desk cluttered pretty quickly... C'ya in CQ WPX CW I hope... Re: [Elecraft] CQ Contest
Hi Willis, I always enjoy reading the post contest comments. They can be fun, informative and downright funny. The knob comment was made because his cracked during the contest, irritating, but not the worst that could happen and he pointed that out in a later comment. It was done in good humor I think... Glad you did well, and sorry we didn't work. Unexpected circumstances kept me from putting in the effort I had hoped, but had a lot of fun working DX on 10 for a change. Had hoped to add something new, but no luck, need seven states for WAS and six countries for DXCC (worked 112 but can't get the QSLs from any of the outstanding ones). Hats off to the Top Band folks, just got card 102 for DXCC LP and all 26 zones worked confirmed... A few K2s and K3s in that lot! See ya in IARU! Steve and all, This is where you might look for us: CW 3540, 7040, 14040, 21040, 28040 SSB3820, 7240, 14280, 21390, 28390 Probably plus 10KHz or so depending on QRM. Storms are predicted for WV all weekend and with SF running around 68, looks like 20 may be the band. We'll certainly try 80 and 40 in each county for close in folks. We'll spend more time in the first five counties as we may be the only ones putting them on. Dave, There are a number of online resources to help ease the pain of SMT soldering/desoldering. If you have access to older QRP magazines, there were many tips in them. Is this not possible? Generally, if I start a run, or am trying to pull a particular signal out during a run, I have changed the filter width during Tx (with the K2). It's a minor issue, more of a preference thing, but would be nice to have... [Elecraft] DX on 10m
Dave and all, 10 opened later in the day last Saturday here in Tennessee. EU was very strong at times. Considering I was running QRP in IARU, I was tickled that most of my DX QSOs were made one call no repeats. The antenna was better than some, but not a monster stack, just a 4 element SteppIR. The openings were just that good. Too bad there weren't more folks playing there. 15 was good into EU as well later in the day. We may be at a minimum, but there are some fun openings if one is looking for 'em. May catch you on 6 this weekend... 72, Julius Julius Fazekas N2WN Tennessee Contest Group TnQP http://www.tnqp.org/ Elecraft K2/100 #3311 Elecraft K2/100 #4455 Elecraft K3/100 #366 ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. RE: [Elecraft] Elecraft Antennas in trees
This is Alan's site (as is the previous posting). I whole heartedly recommend the CSV-19. It is simple to use and effective, particularly if you have tall trees. I've tried most of the other suggested methods, and while most will work to some degree or another, they usually take multiple tries and are height limited. While this device is not cheap, if you do a lot of antenna work in your trees, this is a real time saver. Well worth the price... It's also my most borrowed piece of equipment ;o) http://www.antennalaunchers.com/antlaunching.html 73 & CU in NAQP CW this weekend! [Elecraft] width knob
I find varying the width pretty intuitive and the indicator eliminates any question. The one thing I don't like is that I can't vary it while transmitting. Something I thought was going to be changed... I'm using the latest beta 2.20. [Elecraft] VP6DX on 160 Elecraft Mojo
Worked VP6DX this morning on 160... I was running my K2/100 (about 90 watts to the tuner due to some foldback issues) thru the KAT100 into a 55' piece o' wire with a few radials, none any longer than 40'. It was a solid no repeat QSO. Those folks have good ears and they were a solid copy without a Rx antenna on the K2. Don't be afraid to try them, even if you think your antennas are lacking. Worked them on 12M CW as well, been ages since I even heard anyone on 12! GL to all in ARRL DX this weekend. [Elecraft] SMD video? (was: Mystery Mods)
Hey Ron, Another item that really helps SMD/T work and rework is a flux pencil. Mouser carries them and I'm sure others. I use a wood toothpick to hold the parts in place while soldering. Think the key to doing good work is taking one's time. A good flip-down jewelers visor helps as well. Would like to find one of these with LED lamps to better light some of the boards and parts. Poor vision and the jitters does make this work tough going, if not impossible to do. I suspect there will come a time when I won't want to do it. Re: [Elecraft] Reason to NOT buy a K3?
Hi Gary, You've already had a lot of great replies... Thought I'd throw my two cents worth in at this late date: The second RX is well worth having particularly for the low bands where you're more likely to be using a separate RX antenna. Too, if you're gonna be DX, it's VERY useful for listening to behavior on your TX frequency, as well as the pile up. Diversity RX is very useful at times, but if you don't have the antenna(s), it is kinda expensive to have just to say you have one... I'd probably second the 500hz and 200hz options, not a big cost savings, but it could be put towards the second receiver... One can argue the performance difference between 5 pole and 8 pole, I've not seen a meaningful difference in my contesting activities. For digital (RTTY), I'd suggest going with FSK and the aforementioned filters would be just fine. The K3 is as competitive as you are... I think it is very functional, provides easy and competitive performance at a good price AND has a tremendous team behind it. Firmware is always being improved or having features added, which is more than you can say for some other companies. IF, you ever need to work on/repair one, it is fairly easy to do and parts aren't unobtainium. One can argue about a radio's competitive advantage forever, there are so many things that go into "winning" beyond the radio. That being said, either the K3 or K2 are great contest radios IMHO. The K3 offers a lot of flexibility and growth options. Combined with KYBITC, decent antennas, decent QTH and decent propagation, you definitely will in great shape for the top 10 ;o) Cheers and see ya in the fray! 73 and Happy New Year to all, Julius - Julius Fazekas N2WN Tennessee Contest Group http://www.k4ro.net/tcg/index.html Tennessee QSO Party http://www.tnqp.org/ Elecraft K2#4455 Elecraft K3/100 #366 Elecraft K3/100 #1875 -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Reason-to-NOT-buy-a-K3-tp5868025p5874614.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] K3 & S9 43' Vertical
Hi Tom, Check out Phil's, AD5X, site: http://www.ad5x.com/articles.htm He has written a number of articles related to your questions. Good information with plenty of "how to" ideas with locally found materials. Elecraft's Balun kit is also capable of 1:4 unun and will easily work with any 100 watt rig. QST has had several items related to the ubiquitous 43' verticals that are all the rage now. I see at least one person has mentioned radials, which are a must have to effectively use this antenna on 80-30. The K3's ATU is very effective, but keep in mind that you will be matching the feedline and antenna as a unit, versus matching just the antenna. The K3 will most likely find a match most of the time, but you still could be seriously mismatched at the antenna. It may work, it just won't work well. Re: [Elecraft] another contesting how-to question
Tim, Winkeyer is a great piece of equipment and was needed for the K2 after some changes to N1MM years back, due to timing issues. For the K3, you do not "need" Winkeyer at all, and we're talking up to 40 WPM. You do need two ports. You can use the LPT port or USB to Serial adapter from your computer, or there are serial add-on cards to be had. N1MM generates CW. You will need to build/buy a very simple serial port keying interface to key the K3 from the program. It is in the N1MM start document, and I see there are a couple folks who have built little boards for CW/PTT/FSK for this purpose. Winkeyer may be a cost effective option, if you don't have a usable second port option. I traded my last built Winkeyer for an un-built kit and some aluminum tubing. The keyer is still unbuilt. The aluminum is in 40M vertical form ;o) Check the getting started with N1MM document, it explains a lot of this in easy to read details. One of the better start=up guides I've seen... The K3 does it all. And I, too, have had no problem keying the K3 from N1MM without a Winkey. In the Config menu, go to PTT-KEY. Rotate VFO A to choose OFF-DTR. (You can also choose any combination of DTR and RTS from the serial port to control PTT and Keying. See Table 3-12 in the KE7X book, if you have it). OFF-DTR means that there is no PTT control and the K3 will expect a keying signal on the serial port DTR signal. In N1MM (I can't speak for other programs), go to the CONFIGURER->HARDWARE and click the CW/Other Details box for the serial port you connected to the K3. Click on SET and make DTR be CW. That's it. The serial port will be the radio control interface and also will key the radio when N1MM sends CW. No LPT or any other keying interface needed. I haven't done it (no SSB contesting experience) but I suspect that the PTT capability can be use to key the radio when N1MM is being a voice keyer. *chuckles* It's funny to see the complaints after a major contest. Worked a couple of K2s (that I know about) and plenty of K3s over the weekend. Found folks up to 150 on some bands, and much less on others, and this with less stellar SF numbers than during CQWWDX. 20 had activity around the clock. [Elecraft] K3 ERR TXF
Made a couple SSB QSOs prior to the start of WPX and one QSO in the contest itself, but now am getting ERR TXF anytime I try to key the rig. Also, not getting any power out to speak of. the pre contest QSOs were LP, the first contest QSO QRP. Checked all the settings, both directly and with the utility, everything is set correctly. Tried a reboot, power recycle and reloading the firmware. Nada. Any method of keying in either SSB mode triggers the error message (PTT, VOX, DVR). I do have the KDVR3 in this rig, if that makes a diff... Looks like it works fine on CW, power moves from QRP to LP. Any suggestions? [Elecraft] K3 Lightning near miss
Had a bunch of stuff zapped during the recent super cell event that wreaked so much havoc, including one of my K3s... First, hope anyone in the affected area is safe and sound. My K3 appears to be mostly OK, as far as I have been able to test it. The exception being the PA. I can get almost 20 Watts out max. The SWR/Power indication on the K3 does not appear to be functioning correctly. This leads me to think the issue is related to the diodes in that circuit. This happened several times with my K2s. Any thoughts? I happened to see the strike, as I was outside on the balcony observing the storm. It appears to have been a near miss, versus a hard core strike. My 160m Tee had the coffee can housing for the matching network blown apart and the coil and some wiring was melted/vaporized. The antenna, as some may recall, is within 25 feet of the operating position. Two blown breakers in the house, two UPSes tripped (one looks to be permanently dead), at least a blown video card on the shack computer and the K3 problem(s). The antennas were disconnected from the rig and grounded. Considering the other damage in the area, I feel I was pretty lucky overall. Re: [Elecraft] Something *really* new at Dayton from Elecraft
Not enough power and way too many bucks. Too much power... only want a max of 150 watts out (considered LP in some contests);o) On another subject, why do you guys all buy QRP, limited function radios and then wish to add a 100 watt amp? Sometimes I run QRP, sometimes I run LP in contests... usually run LP when chasing new ones, but not always. And another subject, no one has commented on the thread that was going on about improving the DSP NR etc for the K3, and the fact that the KX3 will have a much improved DSP and newer better chip?? Leaves the K3 owners kinda out to dry dont it? Kinda the stuff that we always criticize YeaComWood for doing when a new model came out and the old one could not be updated? Or is a K4 around? I won't feel left out with my K3s, same as I didn't feel left out with my K2... The KX3 will have it's place. Until specifications are published and verified, everything else is pure speculation. Don't think one could place Elecraft in the same class as other manufacturers when it comes to upgrades, or service. Elecraft IMHO is miles above the rest. Items in quotes are my thoughts/explanations. This is a first time issue for me, and I would consider it quite a rare occurrence based on my K3 experiences: (My problem started with a working, properly configured radio that suddenly started displaying "ERR TXF" when keyed in SSB. The radio worked correctly in CW. I suspect either or both of two things: fumble fingering the keys when trying to record new KDVR3 messages or a static spike. It is possible that these were strictly coincidental too.) The TXF error is a SOFTWARE issue, it has nothing to do with hardware. If you have confirmed that the 2.8 Khz filter is in the slot that it really is in (Slot #1 is the first slot on the right as you look down into the radio from front) and that in the CONFIG:FL 'n' BW the 'n' matches the slot number that the filter is in (if you have multiple filters then they must be arranged widest to narrowest in lowest slot number to highest slot number) along with CONFIG:FL TX SB being correct, then you may have a corrupt memory workspace. Do you know how to do a parameter initialization? That will correct the corruption. (This is EE INIT, follow instructions in the owner manual.) (My problem returned...) Are you reloading an older configuration after doing the EE INIT? If so, you need to manually reconfigure everything. The "glitch" can get saved in the configuration file. (By "manually reconfigure" he meant via the CONFIG Menu on the radio itself, NOT via the K3 Utility program.) (The sequence I followed was: 1) Hand copy all of my important parameters (assuming you're not using all the default values) 2) Perform "EE INIT". 3) Test to see if the problem was resolved. 4) Using the CONFIG Menu, re-enter all of my personal settings (filters, AGC and such). 5) Test again to see if the problem remained resolved. If it tests good 6) Erase all saved configurations for the radio in question in the K3 Utility Program. 7) Save to new working configuration. 8) Test again, heck if only for peace of mind. If good, pop open an 813 and do a little jig (wired jig preferred... hihi) ) 73, Julius - Julius Fazekas N2WN Tennessee Contest Group http://www.k4ro.net/tcg/index.html Tennessee QSO Party http://www.tnqp.org/ Elecraft K2#4455 Elecraft K3/100 #366 Elecraft K3/100 -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K3-ERR-TXF-tp7400316p7409532.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Elecraft] WTB or trade
Looking for one or two 200 or 250 Hz filters for the K3 (matched on the five pole would be nice, but not super fussy)... I have a KBPF3 General Coverage RX Bandpass Module and KFL3A-6K (6 kHz AM / ESSB, 8-pole (req'd for AM) **) available for trade or sale. Maybe a KFL3B-FM (13 kHz FM (required for FM) **), still mentally debating this, as well. Let me know price shipped to 37709, off reflector. Re: [Elecraft] [SECC] Mosley TH-3jr Weirdness
Rich, Suggest you look into silicone hose repair tape for the coax connection. Electrical tape tends to unwrap and/or leave a messy residue. This stuff can be found in the garden hose section. It's a bit more expensive, but does a great job. I've wrapped my Steppir Boots with it, great UV protection. NeverSez (sic) or aluminum wiring protection goo found at an electrical supply house will work. There's copper based stuff that is marine grade and used on thing like propeller bolts that will work well too. Wear gloves or have rags around, it's messy and will stain. I wouldn't bother cleaning the whole element, unless you're going to paint them (or powder coat). They'll oxide again. From street level you'll never know either. Don't forget to protect the joints and hardware on your Glenn Martin as well. See ya on da air... 73, Julius n2wn - Julius Fazekas N2WN Tennessee Contest Group http://www.k4ro.net/tcg/index.html Tennessee QSO Party http://www.tnqp.org/ Elecraft K2#4455 Elecraft K3/100 #366 Elecraft K3/100 -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Mosley-TH-3jr-Weirdness-tp6631788p6634459.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] Tom Hammond, N0SS, silent key
Tom was one of the first folks I "met" on the Elecraft reflector and helped me a lot with my K2. We corresponded on and off through the years. We worked in contests and even met at a TenTec Hamfest way back when. He was always friendly and upbeat. I knew of his health issues, but I didn't realize he had taken a serious turn for the worse. I think Wayne's eulogy expresses how I will remember him. Hopefully we can all be more like him... 73, Julius n2wn - Julius Fazekas N2WN Tennessee Contest Group http://www.k4ro.net/tcg/index.html Tennessee QSO Party http://www.tnqp.org/ Elecraft K2#4455 Elecraft K3/100 #366 Elecraft K3/100 -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/TOM-HAMMOND-N0SS-SILENT-KEY-tp6655191p6659442.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Elecraft] FS: Machined Aluminum Knob for K2

[Elecraft] Silly question about DVK3
OK, used my DVK for the first time, pretty simple to record and use BUT, I couldn't figure out how to stop a message. This may not be possible. I use N1MM and ESC has been effective with recordings on the computer, but doesn't stop the DVK. I didn't notice anything in the instructions about a manual stop from one of the K3 buttons. Can this be done, and if so, how?
