Richard Williams has made almost 350 posts in a little over a week, and no one stands up to him and demands that he stop. I tried a few times but gave up, now I'm too busy ignoring him. I guess I'm complaining because of all the extra effort it takes me *to* ignore him, or just to read the forum at all these days. I've given up entirely on Neo, because there is no way to filter or sort it usefully, and sadly setting up filters to block the email addresses of known spammers entirely doesn't seem to work properly. So every time I feel like reading FFL I have to perform this ritual of opening the whole list of emails that have arrived since the previous day and then clicking a checkbox next to all of them by Richard, Dan Friedman (while he was here), Ann, Nabby, and fleetwood (Jim), and then deleting them all unread. But then I start reading the remaining list and realize that I also have to delete almost everything from Steve, Share, and Emily/Denise, because they rarely ever said anything that isn't related to some bullshit posted by one of the people I'd already deleted. Vicious circle. :-) The remaining list is somewhat manageable, and occasionally contains something worth reading. Even more rarely, there is actually something worth replying to -- but at most 1 or 2 a day. That's not a very good track record for a forum, so I doubt I'll stick around if this is how things are going to continue to be. At this point I'm not quite sure which is more dismaying -- the outright insanity of people like Richard, or the shocking True Believerism from people like Share and Nabby and JR and Lawson. Both make me feel as if I'd accidentally dropped into a world in which reason is not only not the norm, but has never been heard of. :-) Dan Friedman tried to do exactly the same thing, but fortunately everyone just ignored him, so he seems to have lost interest and gone away. [FairfieldLife] Re: Black and White? (Where is Barry Wright?)
I don't think any of our lawmakers really understand the problem. This is not a black and white world and there are no 'black n white' solutions. One has to take into account the dualities and the paradoxes in nature. Which again brings us to the barbel strategy. If political parties and canditates received 'state funding', they would not sell the country to vested interests. Their loyalty would be to the country and not to some obscure corporate interest. :-) LOL, slim pickings for you then. I'm just hoping I develop dementia so I don't realise I'm saying the same thing over and over again. I have been spending my time fiddling with the Yahoo e-mail sort rules. Previously I have only posted directly into FFL. I have not quite got it right yet, but I have got the FFL individual e-mails sorting into three separate folders FFL-fluff; FFL-maybe; and FFL-read. I have just not quite figured out how the API interprets the filters command 'SENDER contains...' As soon as I get it right, assuming it works, I will resume posting, having filtered out most of the crap e-mails. Already all of Richard's e-mails are going into the FFL-fluff folder and not appearing in the main In-box or the read folder! If a new poster shows up, it will appear in the main In-box. This seemed better to me than trying to just block certain posters, just in case something interesting shows up. It just takes time to set up all the individual sort rules. Now that I have Richard's posts out of the way, I can work on the other insubstantial posters. I would vote to have Richard removed from FFL. With the old system of 50 posts a week, Alex had to deal with over posting every week. I suppose he would mind if he had to do that, say, every three months. That is, remove someone for posting excessively for a period of a quarter of a year, or maybe longer. That would not take too much extra effort. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, turquoiseb@... wrote : From: j_alexander_stanley@... [FairfieldLife] Re: Awake: The Life Of Yogananda - Rotten Tomatoes
Willy Thank you for your reply. It is so clarifying. No prob if you don't understand Comans book although that is hard to understand if you can also read scholars discussing Tantra. Since you don't understand Comans or unwilling to spend the $$ (I spent $128 – twice your price), much less copy the important parts, I have a better suggestion. Pay $12 new or $10 Kindle on Amazon for James Swartz How to Attain Enlightenment. I have found he tracks true with Comans, which is expected since they had the same mentor – Swami Dayanâda. Swatz has also done a lot of Patanjali yoga so he understands its value for purification. I have already place links to Comans article, (find it on Realization.org) tracing the conversion of Advaita to modern yogic-advaita, although you may not have read it. The article is fairly short but valuable for seeing why suspension of mental activity (yoga-samâdhi) is unnecessary for realization. However, Swartz is best at addressing all the current variances in yoga/advaita in our time. Perhaps then we might have a more useful discussion. … šrî gomâya gomâya svâhâ … Willy sez, This should be dirt simple, Bill, but it's just too subtle for us householders, I guess. I don't have Coman's book anymore and I'm not going to spend $60 to get one. Anyone would have to go back to UT Austin for a four more years and learn four languages in order to read and understand this stuff in the originals. Rita and I are tantrics and so we don't even have to understand anything - we know what works for us. So, I think I'll just stick to my preconceived notions until someone can explain everything to me in plain English that I can understand. It sounds complicated. It would be nice if you could just explain it in simple terms instead of wasting our time with more drivel. And, remember to hit the Show Message History button, SO WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. Thanks.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: New FFL Rule, was where is what's his name?
In terms of mail filtering, using an email subscription with POP access (like Gmail) lets you use the filtering capabilities of an email client, which may be superior to whatever Yahoo Mail has to offer. As for me, I don't have the time or patience to deal with FFL management beyond what I'm doing right now. My beloved has been in poor health for the past year, and my days are filled with her pain and discomfort. She is so dependent on me being in Fairfield that I haven't traveled east to see my 87 year old father since last September, and I don't know if I'll ever see him again. And, now, my own low-grade infection, that had been kept well in check for 11+ years, is staging a major comeback. There is simply enough stress and unpleasantness in my own life that I refuse to tackle the inane bullshit that goes on here. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, anartax...@yahoo.com wrote : I have been spending my time fiddling with the Yahoo e-mail sort rules. Sorry to hear all of this, Alex, and as I've said before, thanks for handling the thankless task of trying to manage this place as well as you always have. I know that there is not much you can do when faced with someone as psychotic and as unresponsive as Richard Williams. For all we know, if you were to revoke his posting rights, he's so insane that he might do what Ravi and others have done and just try to create new IDs so he could continue to harass the people here, and you as moderator. Dealing with people like this is a lose-lose situation, which is why I and some others who have spoken up lately have chosen not to interact with him at all, ever again. I guess the thing that bothers me the most, still having a tiny bit of affection for my days involved with TM, is how a discussion group about it could devolve into the inane bullshit that you so accurately describe it having become. What HAPPENED to all of these once-intelligent people to make them so petty, so vindictive, so irrational, and so attached to their beliefs or to the people who sold them those beliefs? If FFL continues as it is, many people will probably bail, because after all there is just so much inane bullshit one can take in a lifetime. The only good thing I see coming out of that is that any prospective newbies wondering whether TM might be right for them and coming to Fairfield Life to find out will probably run away screaming within a few days, and thus never fall prey to all the cult madness. In that sense, True Believers like Nabby and JR and Share and True Psychopaths like Richard Williams may actually be performing a service.

Good fun for a while but unsustainable for me. Dan Friedman tried to do exactly the same thing, but fortunately everyone just ignored him, so he seems to have lost interest and gone away. Good riddance. It's clear, however, that Willytex is too insane to do this, and will keep up this endless spamming forever, even if no one ever responds to him. It's just like at a social gathering when a group of people are sitting around a table discussing something and a stranger walks up and says You people are full of shit and then singles out the one person that wasn't even at the table - and when they don't even know anyone or what the group is talking about. That is rude. If anyone did that at a normal social gathering they would be asked to leave. Nice analogy but not accurate in this case. Emily is no stranger plus she has read and responded to plenty of your posts. By the by, Emily is hardly the only one here who has accused you of trolling and repeating yourself although I think her use of the word drivel was unique. The rest of the guys here just chalk it up to mental incapacitation. I wouldn't go that far, actually, I find your posts humorous and apropos some of the time. It was Denise Evans that used the word drivel and pointed a third finger at Share. http://www.mail-archive.com/fairfieldlife@yahoogroups.com/msg327351.html What surprises me is the number of people on the list that didn't object, but cheered the boor on. The boor? Emily a boor? She really did find your button. But then nothing you say here should be taken seriously so I'll just chalk it up to a little fun you're having - as usual. Denise Evans was acting like a boor, not Emily. But, obviously Emily doesn't read all the posts on FFL. Often it's what people DON'T say that is important. I don't have anything against anyone posting drivel - people do it all the time - I do object to a stranger attempting to co-opt the whole conversation with drivel insults. However, you don't seem to mind, since you don't like Share anyway. It was low, real low, and makes me think a lot less of the others at the table. Ha, ha Ricky. As I said Em is no stranger, no one is co-opting anything except you in this case, and I don't don't like Share anyway so stop making things up. The only one here who I wouldn't invite to my birthday party is bawee. Denise Evans is the stranger who hits and runs. And, Share thinks you don't like her. And, Barry is the only person NOT invited to ANY table, which is why he probably sits alone at a cafe.

I still can't understand why Judy called you and the other guy, Anartaxius, liars - but it's all water under the bridge now anyway. Now if we could just deal with MJ and the TB. LoL! I will try to reach out to you. Thanks for responding. It was supposed to be a joke. #1) The golden rule is not, those with the gold, make the rules. It is something other than that. On this forum it is Rick that makes the rules. We are all guests on his forum. Anyone is free to start there own. #2) The jury is out as to whether Zen Master Rama, aka Frederick Lenz was able to levitate. Let's wait for more data to come in before we comment on that. The guy is dead, but only his students are making the claim that he could levitate. I don't recall Rama himself ever making that claim. So, I guess the burden of proof is on the students making the claims. #3) Postings made two to three years ago, should not be considered as current. Chat room protocol has generally set a six month, four day limit as to whether a posting is current or not. On most discussion groups, everything that has ever been posted is fair game. Judy was a master at searching out old comments in order to make her point. Quite often it's not what people are saying but what they once said that is important to the conversation. It is a common tactic to point out consistencies in any debate. Sadly, the Yahoo Groups search function seems to be on the blink, so we will have to use the other FFL archive to search out older messages. Of course, this isn't a chat room as Judy pointed out - it's supposed to be a discussion. But, sometimes it does act like a chat room when most of the messages begin and end on one single line and all begin with RE:. #4) Posting a person's name when they have requested anonymity is not considered good taste, and is really violation of the rules of the forum. It's not a good idea to post using your name and email address in the header if you want to be anonymous, Steve. That's my point. #4a) Using a person's name in such a way that you are saying you are not going use such and such''s name, because such and such has requested that you not do it, does not get around point #4. Maybe she didn't realize that her name was in the header of all her messages, including the one where she requested us not to reveal it. Go figure. But, in fact it was Judy and Susan that first revealed her her first name. If what's-her-name had not made a big deal out of it, probably nobody would have even noticed it. Now it's gone into over 200 replies, WITH HER NAME FOR ALL TO SEE! Not to mention that Susan's original post included the TurquoiseB's real name in the subject line. Go figure. It's not complicated. Now, we all need someone to talk to. Some more than others. Please note the daily post totals. (-: It's simple: /Be familiar with the group you are posting to before you post! (-: It's simple: Be familiar with the group you are posting to before you post! *From:* j_alexander_stan...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife] FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com As for me, I don't have the time or patience to deal with FFL management beyond what I'm doing right now. OH GOD - WILL IT EVER END? It's all about what's-his'name. When I search online for information, I always get the early meditators, such as Walter Koch etc. etc. but rarely is there much more said. I gather he was a figure in the early movement who was know by so many that just mentioning his name was sufficient to get the point across. However, for a later generation reading through information about the early days, the big names don't have the same meaning. Any memories, impressions, letters, interactions you may have or know about? I'd love to hear it. Thank you all. Ms. Koch

[FairfieldLife] Terrorist Advisory
Given the ISIS violence that is occurring in Iraq and Syria, Americans should be on alert for possible terrorist activity in the country this coming September 11, 2014, which is the same calendar day of the attacks in New York 13 years ago. Astrologically, the reasons for concern are as follows: 1. Jupiter is now closely transiting the natal position of Rahu at 16 degrees, 51 minutes in Cancer. 2. Rahu is now closely transiting the natal position of Saturn at 24 degrees, 4 minutes in Virgo. 3. Mars and Saturn are still in close conjunction in Libra. The possible location of attack is the Capitol in Washington DC. At that time, the Moon will be transiting at one degree Aries, in the nakshatra owned by Ketu, the significator for a holy place.
Re: [FairfieldLife] Terrorist Advisory
But John, Mars goes into its own sign on Thursday. Won't that mitigate? BTW, I think FFL birthday is Sept 5or 6, same year as 9/11. Re: [FairfieldLife] Who remembers Walter Koch?
dear Leopard, I was once in a meeting with Walter and some others in 1980. Even though it was so long ago and only that one time, I remember him clearly, can easily recall his face. He was such a bright light. Very welcoming of everyone, very gracious and down to earth at the same time. I was Director of Housing at that time and my best friend was Director of Housekeeping. So we both attended the meeting. She introduced herself and Walter brightened even more saying, That's my wife's name. I bet if you emailed some of the leaders at MUM, you could gather some even better memories. Welcome to FFL and thank you for evoking this sweet memory of mine. We had fun at the dance, now we are teaching it to all of our friends. You might try it just for fun. First, you crank up some dance music; then you get out on the dance floor. Next, you put one foot forward (left foot first for the leader); then you put your right foot forward. Then after that, you step in place three times and then reverse the procedure. For Thunderbird for a message filter use pundister for the From. Now, if I were a terrorist and planning an attack for September 11 2014 my first desired target would be the Thursday night football game between the Steelers and the Ravens. Prime time terror! Not sure which stadium it's in. It would definitely be a challenge since fans are screened and all bags taken into stadiums need to be plastic see- through. How about a small plane loaded with explosives or beer kegs loaded with C4 in the concession stands? Bhairitu, Yes, the security forces should now be aware and vigilant of possible attacks by ISIS agents here in this country. If not, they're failing in their duties.
