Re: [Audyssey] games and religion

2009-04-19 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi,
Yeah, but that is straying from the real issue here. The real issue are
games like Mysteries of the Ancients sinful, evil, bla. Personally, I
don't see it because it is fiction and it is not a worship issue. It is
just entertainment.

Bryan Peterson wrote:
Not only that but there are honest-to-goodness christian themed video

known people who did, is definitely on the hypocritical side. There
was that old NES game Bible Adventures for one thing.

I want you...to go upstairs...and kill that boy!

Re: [Audyssey] games and religion

2009-04-19 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Al,
Well said. Bottom line, people, the key here is to keep things in
perspective. It is probably alright for Christians to play Dungeons and
Dragonsor other games provided they don't get carried away with it, and
don't let the game rule their life. If a person doesn't feel comfortable
playing that type of game there is no law says you have to, but at the
same time don't try and force others not to enjoy it either.

JESUS is to be their main focus for every aspect of their life, so
when a christian gets involved in other things, there is this constant
reminder that material possessions and such have their place, but it
should never be before JESUS.
In my case, I had to stop playing dungeons and dragons because I would
blow large amounts of cash on it, and play it constantly to the point
it would consume my life. To a non christian that might seem fine to
have a favorite hobby, but for the christian who focuses on that

Some cults and other religions require strict rules on what to eat,

the heart of the person who wants those things.

I hope that examined the brain of the common christian, grin.

My thought on the whole matter is a quote from the book Christians live by.
That is Judge not less ye be judged.

You can thank the various religious groups for the thinking I conveyed in my
previous message, mainly, the Baptists. I grew up going to all kinds of
churches and getting confused by the differing messages I heard. One says
you're going to hell because you're listening to rock music, the other said
when you die, you are in limbeau, and you're waiting to find out your fate
in eternity.

What is right? Who is right? I still find myself wondering about that.

I'm getting off the subject of games, so I'll stop here.

You have the wrong idea of what it means to be a christian. It is quite sad
how some individuals give things, (like blindness or a specific religion) a

bad name by acting odly or saying things like everybody in the group means
it. I'm sure you've met that blind person that feels so sorry for
him/herself that they can't do anything. If you're that person I'll pray
for you.

not all christians are like that, judging left right and centre. People
shouldn't judge other people like that, not even the christians who judge.
Usually you don't have all the facts.

Christian stations have weather forecasts on them, so does this make them

Hi,
Darn right! I made them harder to kill and like the new enemies stamina.
Each enemy has their own stamina levels so a centaur is tougher to take
down than a harpy or skeleton. Skeletons are kind of on the wimpy side so
they are easier to take down than a harpy. Adds a little challenge to the
game.

Thomas did say he'd altered the enemy AI so that they would adjust their
point of aim. That's what a real opponent would do, unless they were a total
moron. Sooner or later they'd have to realize they were wasting energy. But
I agree about the stamina thing, especially on the higher difficulty
settings. You start out with twenty rounds of ammo in your pistol but you
can easily blow eight to ten of them on a single centaur even if every round
finds its mark. But by the same token he could have made things a lot harder
than they are.

Hi,
Darn right! I made them harder to kill and like the new enemies stamina.
Each enemy has their own stamina levels so a centaur is tougher to take
down than a harpy or skeleton. Skeletons are kind of on the wimpy side so
they are easier to take down than a harpy. Adds a little challenge to the
game.

too, liked the other arrow sounds better, so thanks for replacing them in
the future. Not that these are bad sounds, I just like the others
better. Nice improvements on this beta. Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Change Reaction.

2009-04-19 Thread Charles Rivard
What I do is to find a matching coin for the one I am going to toss, then move
right and left one or more spaces to see the top coin of those piles. If there
are 3 of them in a row, I drop the coin on the middle one. Also, I down arrow
on columns that match the one in my hand and drop it there if there are 3 coins
that match mine. Of course, when a bomb is activated, quickly checking to see
if that top coin matches mine is good, but get away quickly if that coin is not
a match. If it is a match, even if other piles may be better, I drop it on the
bomb pile to explode coins of that denomination that are in that stack. Moving
quickly and reacting quickly, I think, are the keys. If anyone else has better
ideas and other hints to improve our scores, I'll bet we'd both like them.
Thanks.

  Hi Charles,

I see you have the top score on the change readction board, can you help me
figure out how to score so many points? I've read the manual through quite a
few times, and I guess I still don't get it.
The way I play now is to just see if there's any matching coins from the one
in my hand, on the pile. If there is, I put it right on top of that one. Is
this something I should be doing?
Maybe we can talk on FTP or something if you can't explain by Email.
  Any help is appreciated.
  Thanks, and take care.
