Scripts for tabs
Hi all, Has anybody written any scripts of generating tab type of images? Is anybody interested in writing such scripts? -- Regards, Harshdeep Singh Jawanda.
draw a simple shape
Hi all, I'm try to draw a rectangle with rounded corner in a perl plug-in. How do this ? I've think about GFig, but : - Gfig doesn't draw rectangle with rounded corner - I don't know if we can call gfig in a perl plug-in I've try to add a selection with shape border, but it's blur... How do this ? Axel R.

Re: Scripts for tabs
Hi, James Smaby wrote: Sure, see http://virgo.umeche.maine.edu/gimp I think perhaps my original posting was misunderstood. By "tabs" I meant the sort of tabs that one sees on tabbed dialog boxes (or property sheets) in GUIs, the effect of which people have tried to recreate on the web by using images. I did not mean image galleries :-). I should have explained myself more carefully :-). -- Regards, Harshdeep Singh Jawanda.
Looking for an image
GIMP related in that I will work on the image in GIMP. I am seeking an image I can use freely on our company Intranet. I have scoured my CDs and the web for over an hour so far, but have been unable to find a good image of a red English phone box with no people in it. If someone has such an image, and could send it to me, or point me to where I can find it, I'd be very grateful. -- Thanks! Jim Clark

Jim Clark Microsoft has got something called Live Clipart Gallery on microsoft.com (http://cgl.microsoft.com/clipgallerylive/default.asp?nEULA=1nInterface=0) where you can find pictures/illustrations/etc (the pics are usually of very high quality). These pictures are free to use, they are very small though (which is where they make money, larger size costs money :) but i've often used them. Just do a phonebooth search and you'll probably find something useful, the People category is very useful too. -- mvh, .---+-+---. | tobias gärder | webdesigner | scandinavia online ab | | 0733-201060 | 08-58781112 | www.passagen.se | `---+-+---'

I would be happy to run take a picture of a red english phone booth on my lunch break. I'm in Houston TX but we have imported some of the phone booths and placed them around the Upper Kirby district. Unless I'm missing something, their some funky format *.cil, which GIMP does not recognize. There are references to using them in Office The best I could do was to right click the thumbnail. Then I noticed that if you select the image, you're provided yet another larger gif image in a separate window. You can right click that image and download it. By the way, not that I need one, but I did a search for phonebooth and nothing was returned. -- Until later: Geoffrey [EMAIL PROTECTED] Microsoft != Innovation

[...] Neither "blow up" nor "stretch pixels" are well-defined terms. What do you mean by them? I would assume that the intended question here is "How do I increase the number of pixels in my image so that the extra pixels are interpolated, rather than simply repeated?" (just to nitpick, when you blow up an image, the pixels are interpolated, not repeated. That's why it looks blury. Without anti-aliasing you do get repitition. What gimp does (more or less) is a simple liniar interpolation to find out what inbetween colors are. IE if you have a black box on white, when you double the size you'll end up with a grey line between the black and white because that pixel would map to between a black and a white pixel.) Exactly. How do I do that? =) I think the ting to do is scale up normally, then use something like unsharp mask to get some detail back. I remember seeing a link (perhaps from this list) that was to information on unsharp mask and an even better shaprening filter someone had made. --Ben

I apologize for the sky being all blown out. I should have shot some with fill-flash and a different exposure in hopes of getting blue sky. You'll need to use Gimp to sharpen, scale, and crop things down to web size. I didn't know your output size so I shot big. Better to have too much image to work with than too little. Re: Reverse video
- Original Message - From: Leonard R. Wayne [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2000 10:45 PM Subject: Reverse video Hello. Is there any quick way in GIMP to swap black and white colors in an imported color image? I have a .tif image (generated by another program) which I want to send to my printer. The .tif image consists of a color graph superimposed on a black background. The black background covers most of the image. The graph is labeled by white text which appears superimposed on the black background. The reason I want to swap black and white is that currently when I send this plot to my printer, a ton of ink gets used up in printing the black background. (I am going to be generating a bunch of these plots, so it would be nice to have a way to swap black and white.) Here's how I'd do it: Edit-select by color Select the black color. Copy it to the clipboard. Select the white color. Fill it in black or invert the color (same effect). Paste the black from the clipboard, invert the color (image-colors-invert I think). Finally, line things up if the paste didn't go where it's supposed to. --Ben
