Re: [JAWS-Users] creating shortcut for restarting jaws

2017-09-25 Thread Vicky Vaughan
Hi, When you are at the Desk Top, arrow to the Jaws you want to have come up
with your hotkey,

Press Alt plus Enter,
Tab until you hear it say, "Shortcut none", The Alt and Control are already
assumed, so all you type here is the letter j, if that's what you want with
the Control and Alt for your Jaws hotkey.

I don't remember the rest exactly, but you will need to continue tabbing and
the choices will make sense. You will end with the OK key and that will be
the end of it.

Hope that helps.

Hi Fernando,
Many thanks for your reply. This was not what I needed, I wanted something
much simpler, that is, going to properties and general you somewhw find a
shortcuts option, which you enter and usually there is the contrl-alt-j
thing. I did it very easily on my other computer, but cannot retrieve the
instructions. All I want is, if jaws is closed for any reason, to be able to
quickly reactivate it.

Thanks again,

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] creating shortcut for restarting jaws

Hi,

JAWS itself has a keyboard shortcut which creates a memory dump in case you
wish to send the error report to Freedom Scientific or contact Technical
Support, kills all JAWS-related processes and then relaunches it.
For cases in which this command doesn't work, I made a .cmd file that forces
killing of all JAWS processes and then run a certain specified JAWS version.
To do this, create a text file with the following content and save it with
extension .bat or .cmd:

taskkill /im jfw* /f
taskkill /im fs* /f
start /b JAWSnn
pause

In the Start command, nn is the JAWS version number as you would enter into
the Run dialog, for example 17 or 18.
You can save this file anywhere, then create a shortcut to this file in your
Desktop and assign it a hotkey in its properties.

This type of file lets you run a series of commands as if you enter each
command into a Command Prompt window and then press ENTER.
The /f parameter in the Taskkill command is the same as ending a process
directly from Task Manager's Processes (Windows 7 or earlier) or Details
(Windows 8 and newer) tab. If this parameter is not included, it is the same
as closing the program windows or using the End Task button, that is, send a
message for the program to close and wait to save data or any other
operation the program usually do when closed.

The * in names is to include multiple processes into a single command.
The Start command, with the /b parameter, allows to launch something by
specifying the string you would type in the Run (WINDOWS+R) dialog, in this
case the JAWS version of interest.
Finally, the Pause command, although not required, prevents the Command
Prompt window from being closed, displaying a “Press any key to continue”
message instead. This is useful to see the otput, for example, in case the
file is not working properly.

Hope it helps!

Hi List, I already asked Freedom scientific about this and they were not
able to help, but I'm hoping one of you might have solved it for yourself.

What I want to be able to do, is to bring up a pronunciation setting for
only when I am reading the Bible. Think of the name, Job. Of course Jaws
pronounces it like it's your work, instead of a person's name. However, you
wouldn't want to have this permanently changed, since it would be wrong most
of the time.

It sounds to me as if much depends on the particular synthesizer one's
using, so I'm not even sure they should be calling it the JAWS Dictionery!
Also, capitalising syllables helps at times, spaces not always necessary in
words. There's a county Kildare (but, using Eloquence, that should be
pronounced KilDare), in Ireland. One synth I used makes a bad job of BBC
when used with JAWS, nearly always emphasizing the second syllable. So then
I had to change it to BBbe Sea. - (Actually, with that synth, Bebe Sea) for
more comfortable listening.

A two-part answer.

First, I just plugged "du luth" into the replacement field of my JAWS
dictionary, and it pronounced the city's name correctly, at least for my
synthesizer.

Second, I've found no consistency in how the JAWS dictionary processes the
emphasis of syllables. Finding a solution in each case depends on trial and
error and experience. Even then, sometimes I can find no good solution.

Regarding your specific topic about table of contents, if you marked section

Actually I think there is a way to give it the signal that the upcoming text
is to be centered, but I am not sure of that one.

For the other 2, you do a Control B or Control U either before the text or
after you have written and selected it.

I guess you could try doing the Control e before writing your text and then
when you press Enter, the text should center itself.

Good luck!

appearance. Let me see if I can explain. The bullet will be up against the
left margin, or most frequently ¼ of an inch to the right of the left
margin. This is called the hanging indent. The start of the text will be a
little to the right of the bullet. As an example, let's say that the bullet
is 1/4 of an inch wide, and the space between the bullet and the start of
the text is 1/4 of an inch. This means that the text is starting 1/2 of an
inch away from the left margin. This is called the left indent and is .5 of
an inch from the left margin. If the text you are typing is longer than the
line and needs to wrap down to the next line, the start of that subsequent
line will be positioned right under the start of the previous line’s text at
the 1/2 inch mark from the left margin. When you are at the beginning of a
line, you can use the Insert+f command to learn about the hanging indent and
left indent positions. If JAWS announces Aligned left, then you know the
text is flush against the left margin and there is not a bullet at the start
of the information.

The use of bullets makes it easier for the visual reader to quickly move
from one item to the next. Personally, I find it also allows me to quickly
move through bulleted information with JAWS.

HTH,

Annette

Re: [JAWS-Users] MS Word 2016 and Spell-check

2017-04-03 Thread Vicky Vaughan
Hi Wayne, I'm no master of it, but it seems to work much like previous
versions.

You start it with F7, if the suggested replacement doesn't sound right,
press Tab and arrow down through the choices. Now, here's something that is
confusing, most of the time, you can still use the Alt C, to make the
change, or Alt I to Ignore, but sometimes, it tells me to just use the
letter, meaning just use the C or I.

I have absolutely no idea why this is. I just try my usual command and if it
tells me to do the changes without the ALT key, I just go with the flow.

Good luck,

I do a lot of writing and spell-check is essential for my work. I am

a demonstration of MS Word 2016 and Spell-check was a disaster. You have to
search for the wrong spellings amid pop-ups and all sorts of unreadable
tabs. Has anyone been using Spell-check effectively in Word 2016? If so,
can you point me to where I can learn how to navigate it. The older
versions were so simple and straightforward.

Yes - you need to know how the menus work, and what the Chrome keyboard

I've been using Chrome on the Windows 10 system at work for a while now,
having largely switched from Firefox. Chrome is working reliably. I also use
it under Mac OS, where it is likewise very accessible.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] The anniversary update to W-10, changes to expect

Hi Jaws user list.
Hi group, I just did a Jaws tandem into Ed's new laptop which is running the
anniversary update of W-10.

The settings area, changes:

1. After pressing Windows key+I, you are now in the search edit box.

2. Tab one time to the category list of 9 main categories.

3. After pressing enter on any of these categories, again you are in
the search edit box, just tab one time to the list of sub-categories.

4. . The first sub-category is always selected for you.

5. Just begin tabbing across the choices.

6. Again Jaws speaks too much information, just like at the first.

7. Always press, insert+Tab, this makes Jaws repeat what control you
are sitting on.

8. There are many new sub-categories in this new update.

9. I found a few places where Jaws had a hard time.

10. But overall, worked pretty good, at times, too much speaking.

The start button area:

1. After pressing the windows key, or pressing enter on the start
button.

2. You are in the search edit box.

3. Tab one time to, the navigation button.

4. Press the down arrow to get to all your shortcuts, Documents,
downloads, personal folders, and power button.

5. Tab again to, your list of apps and programs.

6. First letter navigation only works from say, A to B. From whatever
letter you are currently in to, to the next letter, no further.

7. Tab again to, the live tile region.

8. OK, let me review.

9. After pressing enter on the start button, or pressing the windows
key.

10. You will be in the search edit box, tab one time to, your shortcuts to
your folders and the power button, tab again to, the list of apps and
programs, tab again to, the live tile region.

11. In my opinion, Freedom Scientific, needs to do some work with Jaws to
have it more ready for the new start button area in the anniversary update.

Action center.

1. What was the notification center is now the action center?

2. So either pressing Windows key+A, or pressing enter on the action
center on the notification bar.

3. You can sometimes tab across here as usual, but if you find the
tablet icon, just press the right arrow key to go across all the items here.

4. When you find action center notices, just down arrow through the
list of notices.

5. Tab one time to the delete these notices.

1. Everything else looked as it does now, as far as what I had the
time to look at.

2. Make sure you look at the back-ground-apps, most of them are turned
back on again.

3.I will have to wait until my computer gets updated to play with
some of the new settings area sub-categories, to figure out exactly what
they do.

4. Anyhow, this is the best I can do for now.

Good luck...

While I was not sleeping last night it crossed what I call my mind a couple
of ideas for future recordings.

Version 5 could cover creating a batch file that would allow you to create
your backups just by hitting enter on it since all of the presets will be
hard coded. Version 6 could cover modifying it to run from the virtual
environment. That way again all you would need to do is hit enter on it.

Now this is getting up there a bit, but if there is an interest I can sure
record my thoughts. Note: the last might have to be recorded on my Victor
Reader although that is not set in stone. It's just a possibility.

Let me know folks if those are things of interest to anybody out there.

then press Tab, to the Replace With, and just either leave it empty or press

create what Word calls a table. You'll find tables in the insert tab of
the ribbon. I've just checked Word 2010, and it looks like the shortcut is
alt-n, t.

I believe you just press Tab and Shift Tab to go back and forth.
Try it with sample text, such as "This is column one and This is column two
and see if the Tabbing will take you back and forth.

4. Now ARROW down an JAWS will say "2x" then "3x" and so on. Arrow own to

If you're referring to Dectalk Access32, the version from Freedom Scientific

Windows Vista, 7 or 8 and I assume Windows 10. So Dectalk Access32 can be

Yes, I'm corrected, in the NumPadSlash and not NumPadMinus being a component
of the drag-and-drop. However, this control + JAWSKey + NumPadMinus does a
slightly different thing than routing JAWS to PC. Still, while it may be of
some value with sighted company on Web pages - it isn't so valuable in most
other scenarios where it throws off many of our usual navigation keystroke
movements. Yes, it has some usefulness, but doesn't cover all of what we're
doing on Web pages, I recall from having tried it with a sighted onlooker.

Hi Flor,

The, control, insert / jaws key, + Jaws cursor / Numpad minus key toggles
the Jaws cursor to follow the PC cursor.

Control, Insert, + Numpad slash is the drag & drop keystroke.
Take care.

The Route JAWS to PC keystroke is, Insert or JAWSKey Insert plus
NumPadMinus; no ctrl key. (With the ctrl key, it's drag-and-drop - a whole
other ball game.) However, it doesn't have the desired effect on Web pages -
at least, in my experience of a sighted user trying to read what I was
reading with JAWS. The caret browsing feature is not aimed for us; I think
it interferes in some way with our navigation of pages, although it's been a
while since I played with it to an extent. Best way to know is to try these
things out - trial and error - with a sighted companion. Perhaps the
solution that'd suit the sighties most would be to turn off the virtual
cursor with JAWSKey+z, and then use one of the two proposed 'solutions' -
that would usually hamper our JAWS use on Web pages and with other similar
environments.

On the other JAWS user's list, we have been discussing how to get better
help from the sighted, when needed, while browsing with JAWS. It has
been stated many times over, that under normal settings, sighted people
mostly can't tell where we are on a web page.
Two suggested remedies mentioned are caret browsing, invoked by f7, and
JAWS cursor follow PC cursor, invoked by pressing insert plus control
plus numpad minus.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has any other suggestions, or
knowledge of any harmful effects of these seemingly helpful, but not
widely known, features of JAWS.

Hi Carolyn, Control Page Down will go to the next page, if there is a next
page.

Since my little test document, only was 1 page, this command went back to
the top. It surprised me as well.

Hi Jim, That is what I thought also, but it is not working on my test
document.

Shouldn't a blank line, in a document indicate that the next line is the
first line of the new paragraph? I even tried indenting it, to see if that
was what was needed to get Jaws to recognize that a new paragraph was there.
This also did not work.

Very puzzling.

Vicky,

Don't worry about whatever it calls the Focus. If you're using a modern
version of JAWS, like around JAWS14, JAWS wiull detect ithe display and when
it does, know how to deal with it. For now, I wouldn't worry about the
difference in mouse-clicks terminology (in relation to the braille display)
either.

The ENTER key on the display is dot8, the key to the right of dot6.

The iPhone pairing code is: - that is, four zeroes. (And it must be
input quickly, on the phone screen itself, or you will have to do it all
over gain.) (The same applies when pairing it with a laptop using JAWS,
except you type on the laptop keyboard.) Firstly, the phone must see
the Focus - i.e., the Focus14 must be 'detectable'. When it does, you'll be
asked eventually to type in the code. After that's done, the display will be
ready and you can explore braille options. (I should also add that this
works much the same when Bluetooth-pairing the display with your computer
using JAWS to assist.)

Hi,

I’m using a Focus 14 Blue with an iPhone, and its serial no. is 5.71, so has
itself been updated to take advantage of Power 123 feature. I also have it
already Bluetooth-paired with an iPhone, where it has worked previously (and
will work again, O think) with a laptop. Now, this PC is not itself
Bluetooth-enabled. Using JAWS16 on this PC. What do I do to make it accept
USB while iPhone accepts Bluetooth? So far, the 1-2-3-+power button doesn’t
change from one to the other, but rather from the one I’m using to the Focus
status line. I tried the suggestion of setting it up in Bluetooth on my PC,
but, thus far, it hasn’t worked. The PC is Windows7, and, as I said, does
not itself have Bluetooth (if that’s relevant)? While connected to USB the
display will read off the iPhone screen, or, the JAWS screen, but not
alternating with the power123 switch between one and the other. Do I need to
download the power123 firmware update, again, for this new computer? Even
though the display already has the firmware in it?

You could purchase just Word
2013 as a self standing piece of software, but you would come out better in
the end if you purchased an Office suite. You could get the Home and
Student version which will contain Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and One Note for
a little over $100. Word by itself will probably cost you this much, I have
not checked in years, but the last time I did, the different Office
softwares as stand alone applications were running $99.99 each. Then there
is the Office 365 route. This is Office 2013 sold on a monthly subscription
basis. You will always have the latest version updated automatically, and
for $6.95 per month you can get the personal version which will include
Word, Excel, and I believe Powerpoint and maybe Outlook? but I am not sure
about this one, but you do get 4 of the Office software packages with this
subscription. To subscribe to this, go to www.office.com, and sign into your
Microsoft account, and there will be an option to purchase Office 365 on the
page somewhere. If you decide to purchase an Office suite, then you will
find better deals on the internet or maybe at one of the chain type office
supply stores. Try www.softwareking.com.

Hi Vicky,

I'd seriously consider an Office 365 subscription if I were you. You'll get
everything including Outlook. LEASEY also works well with Outlook so that
would probably be a good thing to have. There are different prices depending
on how many installs you want. It is a subscription, but the next time
Office is upgraded, you'll get that at no additional cost. You also get a
terrabyte of OneDrive space. go to www.microsoft.com/office for more
information.

Probably no discounts, but maybe from Microsoft if they have an upgrade
price. You, of course would need to have your registration key for your
current installation, and possibly some other information. But, most likely,
you will have to pay full price. This is why I mentioned purchasing from a
third party seller if you decided to buy the software out right. You will
get a better deal than Microsoft will offer.

Hi, I also have had this happen. Like you, it has been happening since I
downloaded Jaws 16.

The connection between the two and the remedy for this problem eludes me.

The best I can do is to have as few applications running as possible. Then,
when it happens, use the Control Alt and delete and then Tab to
Shutdown... This will give me the chance to find the Reboot.

It's not a great solution, but it's the best I've come up with. At least,
it's better than just pushing the Power Off button.

If you hit Alt V, that will put you in JAWS Verbosity. You will need to

none, some, most or all. It could be that there is something else in those
choices in JAWS Verbosity that would solve your problem, but I don't know

One time I had some kind of smart tag or something and ended up calling

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Programmer?

Hello Vicky,

I have a macro that will find all misspelled words before running spell
checker and put them in a list in a separate document. If this will work
for you then the info is below. You can then use CTRL with F6 to quickly
move between the new document with the list of misspellings and other open
documents. Below are the steps to follow and then the code that can be
copied and pasted. I am using Word 2013 so your version of Word might vary
somewhat.

Create a new macro and make it available in the normal template. Do this as
follows:

1) Select and copy the code shown at the end of this message. Make
sure all code is selected. One way to do this is to put a place marker at
the very beginning of the code using Windows key with CTRL key and K.
Navigate down to the very end of the code and press JAWS key with spacebar
followed by M. Use CTRL C to copy it to the clipboard.

2) Press Alt key with F8.

3) In the edit/combo box type the name GetSpellingErrors (Get, spelling
and Errors should all be capitalized words and use no spacing).

4) Tab across to the Macros In box and have it set on All Active
Templates and Documents.

5) Tab to the Create button and depress it.

6) Use CTRL+V to paste the code.

7) Use CTRL+Home to go to the top of the window.

8) The top line should read:
Sub GetSpellingErrors()

9) After pasting you might find that this first line is repeated. In
this case select the top line and blank line after it if it exists and
delete them. There should be just one occurrence of
Sub GetSpellingErrors()
and it should be at the very beginning.

10) Go to the bottom of the document by using CTRL with the end key.

11) There should be only one line at the bottom that says
End Sub
so if when you arrow up you find another occurrence of that line then select
it and delete it.

12) Check your window against the code below to make sure it is exactly
the same.

13) Press CTRL+S to compile the code.

14) Use Alt+F4 to close the visual basic editor.

If Word doesn't let you run macros then you might need to change settings in
the trust center. Use Alt+F followed by Alt+T to go into Word's options.
(These keystrokes are for Word 2010 and 2013, they might vary a little with
earlier versions of Word). In the list of categories use End key to move
down to the trust center. Tab to the trust center settings and use
spacebar. Find macros in the list and tab to the group of radio buttons and
choose to have them disabled with notification. Tab to the check box for
allowing access to the VBA project module and check it with spacebar. Use
OK until out of dialog boxes.

After creating the macro you can use Alt+F8, find the GetSpellingErrors
entry, tab to the run button and use spacebar. You can also add the macro
to a key combination if you prefer.

Here is the code:

Sub GetSpellingErrors()

Dim DocThis As Document

Dim iErrorCnt As Integer

Dim J As Integer

Set DocThis = ActiveDocument

Documents.Add

iErrorCnt = DocThis.SpellingErrors.Count

For J = 1 To iErrorCnt

Selection.TypeText Text:=DocThis.SpellingErrors(J)

Selection.TypeParagraph

Next J

End Sub

Hello, everyone.

You may recall that, a few days ago, I was having trouble with a program
on

my computer running in the background, and interfering with Jaws.

Originally, I thought the problem was with Java.

Apparently, the problem was not with Java, but was with the latest version
of the AVG anti-virus software. I think the version number is AVG 15.

Last night, an AVG update occurred, which literally made Jaws totally
unusable.

I've now completely uninstalled AVG, and Jaws works perfectly.

Has anyone else had this problem with AVG, and if so, how did you deal
with

it?

If AVG is not the most Jaws-friendly anti-virus program to be using with
Jaws, does someone have recommendations for a more Jaws-friendly
anti-virus

program?

I'd prefer to stick with free anti-virus software if possible.

Any help would be appreciated, since I am not comfortable running this
computer without anti-virus software.

For the record, I'm using Jaws 14 on this windows 7 computer.

I've only heard of Check Boxes. For them just press X on your page.

If that doesn't work, I think a call to Freedomscientific would be best.

No, that isn't working. This is not a combo box. These are list boxes. I
used to know how to access them, but I just cannot remember. I believe it
had something to do with the f8 key, but nothing I am trying will work.

I know this, you need to be on the combo box and press enter first, then
press the alt-down arrow

I've also noticed on some web pages of late, there seems to be now an
option to view in either, view mode or grid mode. Personally, I find the
grid mode more favorable with J 16.

You can get an external numpad that can plug in to your laptop. For all I

Hello Group,
In one of my computer, I have Office 13 installed with JAWS 16. While
working with MS Excel, 2013, on trying to edit using the edit mode by
pressing F2, JAWS does not seem to read anything, but stays so quite. Moving
arrows does not help. Suppose I use earlier version of JAWS 15 or 14, it
seems to work fine.

How can I solve the problem?

Looking forward to hearing soon.

It has been replaced by a double-sized delete key.

I use the caps lock for my jaws key so that's not the problem. But is
there some key combination I can utilize to invoke insert mode?

And who the heck thought this new keyboard design was a good idea?
Why do I need a double sized delete key anyway? Sheesh!

All suggestions welcome. I'm stuck with this laptop for reasons I

choose. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You can create a hot key for a document by highlighting the document name,
Press your application key and go to, create shortcut and press enter.
This will put you on the shortcut for that file so now do an alt enter for
the properties and tab to where it says, hotkey.
You can use just about any combination of alt plus control character or
number.
You can also use control plus shift characters and numbers.

Here is a fix for the 64Bit iTunes that works. You will have to uninstall
iTunes first. There is an order in which iTunes should be properly
uninstalled. I will place that information below and place the link for the
fix afterwards.

Uninstalling iTunes

Steps

1.Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in
the following order. Then restart your computer.
1.iTunes
2.Apple Software Update
3.Apple Mobile Device Support
4.Bonjour
5.Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Subject: [JAWS-Users] iTunes 12.1 fix

Here is a fix for the 64Bit iTunes that works. You will have to uninstall
iTunes first. There is an order in which iTunes should be properly
uninstalled. I will place that information below and place the link for the
fix afterwards.

Uninstalling iTunes

Steps

1.Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in
the following order. Then restart your computer.
1.iTunes
2.Apple Software Update
3.Apple Mobile Device Support
4.Bonjour
5.Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall
some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Character by character reading?

2015-01-22 Thread Vicky Vaughan
Thank you Mike and Rob! What I am wanting to be able to do is to read
character by character when I am in the List View of my Address Book or
Contacts list. As Rob said, I can do a quick double numpad 8, to read it
out, but this is only a little bit helpful, since this reads out everything
and I cannot review anything or check it phonetically.

Hi Vicky,

I, think I folow you. Are you wanting to read the address in the To, Cc, and
BCc fields, or the senders address? If so, then you cannot do that on a
character by character basis as far as I know. If it is the sender, you can
click on Add Contact, and when the Add Contact wizard comes up, you can
then read the address character by character, then when done, just cancel
out the address. You can also copy the address out of the from, to, and Cc
fields when it reads it really fast, and paste them into another document,
i.e. Notepad, then read them character at a time. I hope this helps and is
close to what you are talking about.

Hi List, I am using Windows Live Mail on a Windows 7 computer with Jaws 14.

When I bring up my list of email addresses, I can hear them fine enough to
pick out the one which I want to use, but in a forwarding situation, I have
to be on the message list at the message to be forwarded, so I cannot read
the address again. Not only that, I would like to be able to make Jaws read
each character as I arrow across them. It would really be awesome, if I
could copy it and just paste it in to the address field of the forwarded
message!

Can anyone help?

Thank you very much! Vicky

Hello there
Well, there may be a better or easier way but this way works for me
1 find the document you want and while selected
2 press the application key and up arrow to send to sub menu
3 right arrow to open and down arrow one time to desk top and enter
Now that document is on your desk top
If you desire a short cut/hot key for this then
While on desk top select the document and use
alt enter to go to properties
now use the tab key and get to short cut/hot key
here put in what you wish for your desired hot key
tab through to okay and enter
Now you not only have a hot key for this document but this is also on your
desk top as well.
If you wish not to have this on your desk top
Just highlight/select it from the desk top and presss the delete key
which will put it in your recycle bin
or
or shift delete which will remove it permmanently
Hope these keystrokes help you

Caveats: NONE

Some people have trouble plugging the USB cable into the Refreshabraille,
but there's a technique that helps much with this. I had a Braille Pen for
a while, but returned it because it just wasn't engineered well, it had a
long joystick and was just generally clunky. Not sure about the small
Freedom Scientific displays, but I like the APH Refreshabraille 18, it's
ruggedly constructed and has a very long battery life.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Braille display?

Hi Jaws people, Do any of you know of a really small Braille display
that is Jaws compatible and iPhone friendly and connects either by USB
or Bluetooth? I am looking for just the display and not one that is
part of a device that has any of its own computability.

Hopefully, this would be able to work with either or both my Windows 7
computer using Jaws 15 as well as my iPhone 5.

Thanks so much for any input or comments about your small display!
Vicky

Re: [JAWS-Users] Manage application settings as found under the File menu in Jaws?

2014-06-10 Thread Vicky Vaughan
Hi Mike, Thank you very much for your explanation of the Jaws Options and
Manage Applications feature!

What or where should I back this up, before deleting those I don't need?

In other words, is there somewhere within Jaws I can put the original
settings?

Again, thank you so much! Vicky

Hi

When you go to Manage Application Settings in the JAWS Options menu, the
list that you see shows all the applications for which there are JAWS
settings in your JAWS user settings folder. If an item in the list is
checked, JAWS will use the settings in your JAWS user settings folder before
going to the default settings for that application. In an item is
unchecked, JAWS will only use the default settings for that application. So
the safest thing to do is uncheck all of the applications for which you
don't want to use the user settings. However, if you want to just get rid
of the JAWS user settings you don't want, go through the list and make sure
that only the ones you want to delete are checked. Then tab to the Remove
selected button and press enter. I recommend that you backup your JAWS user
settings before doing this just in case you find you want something back.

Hi Jaws list,, I am using Jaws 15 and iTunes 11. I am confused by the long
list of choices found first in the Jaws Options menu, and then under Manage
Applications.
I have: Default checked, iTunes Chinese checked, iTunes Code not checked,
followed by 14 other languages some of which are and some are not checked,
iTunes Super Playlist not checked, SuynCUICoreLocalized not checked and Word
Checked.

What does all this mean and is there a way to get rid of all the languages I
don’t need?

Many thanks for any help! Vicky

Hi, Do you know if you can use just JAWS and Draggon Speek together, or do
you need the extra program of Jawbone? I'm not sure what that is, I just
thought it was needed for this.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Transferring Sound Schemes

2014-05-18 Thread Vicky Vaughan
Hi Marilan, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I had my toy sized poodle for
18 years, so I know how that loss really really herts. .

What was your dog's name and color? Mine, was Kimba and she was jet black.
Some day I want to get a poodle for a guide dog. I have loved my Labradoor
guides, but it sure would be nice to have a non-shedding guide!

With much love and sympathy, Vicky

Mike, I have had that same pain for six months with no end in sight. I
truly hate win 7 and will probably hate the one after 8. I also had to put
my dearly beloved 16 year old poodle down Sat/. so I am bereft over this.

Hi All,

I'm setting up a new Win7 Pro computer running J13 latest , would like to
know if it's possible to transfer a sound scheme from 1 Win7 Pro system to
another? If it's possible, how is it done? I truly hope this is possible
because doing major sound scheme changes in the Win7 system is a total pain
in the very lower back region! Ah, fooled y'all! I bet you thought i'd say
something nastier! LOL LOL

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated, graciously accepted.
Thank y'all very much.
Take care.
