Re: [JAWS-Users] Reorder message column in thunderbird using Jaws

2018-04-16 Thread matthew dyer
Getting drag and drop to work. I already found it. Unfortionetly the jaws
currser does not work. I just get blank. Oh well I guess this is a limitation
of jaws 2018 and windows 10. I was trying to rearrange the columes in
thunderbird, could not figure out how to get the touch currser to work wihile
the mouce button was locked. All I got was selected and nothing more.

Go to the message list.

go to the very top of it with the home key.

enable touch cursor,

now go left until you hear select columns to display... button.

Press enter. This opens the menu allowing you to check and uncheck columns.

If you want to rearrange the columns, go left past that button and you'll find
the header items like subject and the like. Find the one you want to move,

press the keystroke to lock mouse button, with laptop layout that would be
shift caps lock num row 8. then left or right to the colum you'd like to place

this before and press the mouse lock toggle again. Note that the columns are
read in the same order regardless of their actual position when using touch

cursor. You'll have to try to move it, then go back to pc cursor and navigate
the list of messages to see if you did it. If it fails, try dragging other

columns around the one want to move instead and see if that works. It's a bit
messy but can be done with a little time and a big dose of patients.

Once you have a folder set up, you may want to assign that folder's column view
settings to all folders, this is available in that button that says choose

which columns to display near the bottom says something like apply to folder,
you can apply it to your entire email account that way if you want to.

Hi all,

I like most of you find that jaws either comes up very late or earlier
depending on rather or not the machine is doing system updates or not. I guess
I am more patient then most. I find that usually jaws will come up how ever it
takes its good old time. I have my windows 10 vm set to give me the login
sound which works but as I said before this could be more of a windows thing
rather than jaws. Just my take on the matter.

Hi Ted,

Officially, so to speak, you do have the latest update, but FS / VFO did come
out with a minor update to fix a couple issues, & will be an official update
when the next update comes out. This so called minor / unofficial, so to
speak, update does not appear on the released updates page, but on a technical

the text while navigating by character or word.

Respected friends, I have red 5 emails regarding JAWS version confusion.
The matter of fact is that the latest version of JAWS 2018 is not on the
main page of freedomscientific’s main page.
For those of you who are saying that they are using the latest version of
JAWS 2018,
They should check if they are using JAWS 2018.1712.54 which was released on
January 4th 2018?
The latest version of JAWS 2018 which is available on the main page of
freedomscientific’s main page is JAWS 2018.1712.10 which was released on
December 12th 2017.
If you find out that you are using different version of JAWS 2018.1712.54
and if you are encountering the problem in using windows 10 mail app, then
do the following things.
1. Press INSERT+J to open the JAWS menu.
2. Select Help > About and press ENTER.
3. Navigate to “Special Update Code” and press ENTER.
4. Type in the following access code: 957395
5. Press Enter.
6. Navigate to the “OK” button and press ENTER.
7. Restart JAWS 2018.
8. Press INSERT+J to open the JAWS menu.
9. Select Help > Check for Updates.
10. When the “JAWS updates” dialog opens, press the SPACEBAR to select the
JAWS 2018.1712.54 update.
11. Navigate to the “Install” button and press ENTER to perform the update.
Remember one thing if you have repaired your JAWS 2018, then it will not
update and you will have to download the full version of JAWS 2018.1712.54.
For that purpose you need to click:
https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freedomscientific.com%2FSupport%2FTechnicalSupport%2FBulletin%2F1670=02%7C01%7C%7C57dfeb8b4bf64ac28f7308d5601b640b%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C636520593106271473=b1VlvizjSKlla2Zq0G8yRWpHXxe7Nm2a3V5xQaV4P5k%3D=0

2018-01-10 Thread matthew Dyer
Hi,

I think what he is asking is if there are any free email services other than
gmail and yahoo. I believe there is something called gmx, but have not used it
in a while. There is also something called poste.de, but have not looked at it
so don’’t really know. Doing a search for free email services should do the
trick though and if I come acrosst any myself I will be sure to pass them on..
Thanks.

Morning everyone. I have a question hoping someone can answer. I may need
to reinstall windows in a vm as when I restored it I ended up on the insider
program, but here is the question. I only have one authorization left
according to fsactivate.com. Is it possible to deactivate my lisance and
send it back to the server so it can be used after windows is installed? I
looked around and did not see any way to do this. I thought this was
possible, but can find nothing in the help menu or the help topics that

I am one of the co-owners of the group that moved. You are incorrect about
it not having problems with Gmail; that's the main reason Buddy and I moved

about three times in the final thirty days that the group existed using a

Re: [JAWS-Users] sign in with jaws.

2017-07-20 Thread Matthew Dyer
Hi,

Not sure if this would help or not, but here is what I sdo. When booting up
my windows 190 vm as that is what I am using, I wait for jas to load at the
lock screen then press ctrol this brings up the pin edit box whare I type my
4 digit pin and then the system loads just fine after that. What happens if
you just tap the control key? You should get promped for either your
password or pin in either case you should just type in the edit box if
prompted. If you have it set to use a pin, the last number in your pin will
dismiss the dialog and sign you in. If you do not have a pin typing your
password should do it after you press enter.

HTH.

Hi Miriam, The mysterious and annoying behavior you describe also happens to
me on occasion. Likewise, I have the latest JAWS 18 with Windows 7 and a
64 bit system.
Short of rebooting the system, applying the hot key sequence I have assigned to
JAWS 18 will sometimes return speech but it's all guesswork and when the hot
key fails to return speech, I am forced to restart the system. Lastly, it
seems to happen when tabbing away from an open web site but beyond this
pattern, I remain puzzled by this annoyance. Mitch

Jerry,

I believe a patch was released to support the windows 10 1703. Running
check for updates should give you the latesed build of jfw 177. If you have
an SMA, Upgrading to version 18 might be even better. HTH.

Good evening everybody.

First of all, I have to apologize if this question was placed previously.
Second, I am running JAWS 17, Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. I sometimes get
messages from Microsoft wanting to check my settings to prepare my laptop
for the next Windows Update. I started to perform the check, but stopped it
to find out if anyone on the list can tell me if the latest update is
compatible with my current version of JAWS. Many thanks in appreciation.

I always have this problem on a computer where I use Windows 10 Pro Insider
Preview 32-bit builds when I try to download through the JAWS Check for Updates
dialog. I always have to download the installer directly from Freedom
Scientific's website.M Moreover, sometimes the setup package does not run when
I press ENTER on it on the Firefox download library, so I have to manually go
to the folder in which I downloaded the installer and choose Run as
Administrator from the context menu.
You say that you're getting this error even by downloading the package
directly. Despite the summary of the fact that the app can't run on your PC,
please send us the full explanation given by Windows, readable by pressing
JAWS+B. When I try to install via Check for Updates, for example, I receive an
error like “contact with the software publisher to see if there is a version
for your computer,” identical to the one I get when trying to run a 64-bit
executable on a 32-bit system or 16-bit exes on 64-bit systems.

Well thanks to the Microsoft Upgrade Assistant, I'm now running:
Windows 10 Home Version 1703 OS Build 15063.13

The upgrade went pretty smoothly. Used the [Control]+[Windows
Key]+[Enter] shortcut to bring up Narrator immediately during
installation, so I was able to do the upgrade myself, without any
sighted assistance.

The only problem I'm encountering has to do with JAWS.

The volume of JAWS periodically goes down then back up again while
reading any text. It's pretty damn annoying and it's making me regret this.

I highly recommend anyone using JAWS with Windows 10 to wait on FS to
release an update first, before upgrading to the
Creator's

build. Hopefully they'll take care of the default Windows 10 mail app
problem too.

Good afternoon Jaws Users list.
If you change your Microsoft account, you will lose your office 365
subscription. You will have to buy it again for your new account. For
example: I decided to make my computer and accounts more organized. I
was using two Microsoft accounts on my computer. Instead, I decided to
make a new Microsoft account, I made it an administrator account.
Warning: after making this new Microsoft account, I deleted the other
accounts. I chose to keep a copy of the old user folders. What
happened after I restarted my computer was the following. No office
365, I went to the Microsoft store and purchased a yearly subscription
to Office 365 this time instead of the month to month subscription for
office 365. Now this is important, when my computer restarted, I had a
brand-new desktop, which included an icon for my old user folders. So,
I had to totally customize all my Windows 10 settings again, and set
up my computer just like a new install of windows 10. With one
exception, I could copy and paste all my old user folders into the new
user folders. Also, I had nothing in my new OneDrive folders. So, I
set up OneDrive, I copied and pasted my stuff from the old OneDrive
folder into the new one. I had to sink my chosen folders to OneDrive,
I had to share a OneDrive link again with my two groups. I had to
download many apps I wanted to use. I had to set some programs back up
again. But for the most part, that was not too hard to do. The one
challenging item for me was to set up Outlook 2016 again from scratch.
No email accounts, no contacts either. The outlook.com account was
easy to do, but the Yahoo Imap account was a pain in the butt to set
up. I kept getting certificate errors. Turns out one of the server
incoming numbers was wrong, and I had a period at the end of one of
the server details. So to make a long story short, I spent several
days setting up my computer after creating a new Microsoft account,
and I had to buy the office 365 subscription again. But all and all,
Jaws is working much better now. I have everything reset to the way I
had things customized on my
W-10 computer before I made the change of my Microsoft account. So in
my opinion, I am happy that I made this change to my Microsoft account.
Everything is working better for me including Jaws. I just wanted you
all to be aware of changing your Microsoft account if you are using an
office 365 subscription. I also called Microsoft and cancelled my old
Office 365 subscription. Just wanted to let you all know what will
happen if you switch Microsoft accounts. Smiles.

When I try looking at the desktop with the Jaws cursor, it will say
something like this:

What is this and why can't the Jaws cursor properly see the desktop? Oh yeah
and when you try to right click something in the system tray when the Jaws

completely restart the computer. Restarting Jaws has no effect.

Just a note not sure if anyone else has seen this, but if you try to expand
a conversation in the mail app, the app just crashes and even a restart does
not bring it back. This happens with all screen readers not just jfw, but
wanted to see if anyone else has seen it. This is with the update to the
mail app that was released a couple of days ago.

Enhancements in JAWS 18.0.2530 (February 2017)

The following is a list of improvements made between the JAWS 18 January
2017 release and the February 2017 update.

To download the latest release, visit the Downloads web page.

New Support for ElBraille Applications

This update adds JAWS scripts for Keyboard Editor and ElNotes, applications
included specifically on the new ElBraille, a Windows 10 Notetaker from
Elita Group.

The ElBraille is a Windows 10 computer in the shape and size of a
traditional notetaker, and is designed for users who are blind or deaf-blind
and want to stay connected at school, work, or home as well as on the go.
The twenty-first century, take anywhere replacement for the dedicated
notetaker, ElBraille combines the power and flexibility of a modern
mainstream computer running the Windows 10 operating system with JAWS and a
braille display with a full braille keyboard to offer a fully accessible
compact computer. JAWS provides the best screen reader experience with
either Eloquence speech output or the highly responsive and life-like
Vocalizer Expressive Compact voices as well as full braille output. Type
text into documents or perform JAWS and Windows commands right from the
braille display's keyboard using the JAWS BrailleIn feature. Run any Windows
application such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook. Use
FSReader to read DAISY books from sources such as Bookshare.org or browse
the internet with Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
ElBraille also includes a set of specially designed apps for performing
popular actions such as the creation of voice or text notes, listening to
audio content, and more.

The ElNotes application developed by Elita Group is designed to create,
store, and manage text and voice notes on the ElBraille Notetaker. ElNotes
allows a user to quickly create text and voice notes using a set of special
keystrokes and then export them to TXT or MP3 files respectively, if needed.

These
files are saved to a user-specified folder and then are available to be read
and listened to using other ElBraille applications.

The ElBraille Keyboard Editor is designed for adding, modifying, and
removing keystrokes using ElBraille buttons and Focus 14 Blue keys. Users
can assign a keystroke to launch an application, simulate a QWERTY keyboard
shortcut, or perform a JAWS script.

Amazon Kindle App Support

JAWS now supports reading books in Amazon's Kindle for PC app version 1.19
and later. This enables users to access books purchased through the Amazon
Kindle store right on their Windows PC using both speech and braille. Books
can be navigated using all standard reading commands including reading by
character, word, line, paragraph, and continuously with Say All. As JAWS
reads, pages turn automatically so you can enjoy a book without
interruption.

JAWS can only access Kindle books that support Enhanced Typesetting. The
product details for the book on the Amazon web site indicates if Enhanced
Typesetting is enabled. This exposes the necessary information to screen
readers and provides access to the book content.

Tip: Pressing CTRL+HOME or CTRL+END while reading a Kindle book moves to the
top or bottom of the current page instead of the top or bottom of the
document as in other applications. To move to the beginning or end of the
book, you can use the Go to Location dialog box which is accessed using the
Kindle command
CTRL+G.

Google Docs Improvements

To improve the user experience with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google
Drive, the Virtual Cursor is now turned off by default when focus is in any
of these applications. Since these are basically programs running inside a
browser window with their own sets of keystrokes, turning off the Virtual
Cursor makes it much easier to interact and provides an environment that
feels more like a standard application.

In some situations, the Virtual Cursor will be automatically turned on when
it is needed to review information. For example, pressing CTRL+SLASH in
Google Docs opens a page listing available Google

Hi. I'm writing to explain the new JAWS repair method I learned today from
VFO. Previously, I'd taken the file of the currently running JAWS build, put
it in the C drive, copied the exact wording into a Windows run dialog, etc.
this procedure failed twice for me today. VFO seems to know about this
because when I called, they had me follow the procedure I'll detail below,
and it worked. I don't know why it is different, but somehow it is. So, here
goes.

First, make sure you have the .exe file on your system for the JAWS build
you're running. You can download it from the FS/VFO website.

Unlike before, it doesn't seem to matter where you keep it on your system.

Close all running apps.

Highlight the JAWS .exe file.

Press shift-F10.

Arrow up to "Copy as path." Press enter.

Open the run dialog with Windows key-r.

Press control-v, then spacebar, then / (the forward slash key), then the
word "type", spacebar, and then the word "repair."

Let me try that command line a different way. After pressing control-v
followed by the spacebar, continue with
/type repair

Then press enter.

The process went more smoothly than any JAWS repair I can remember, and it
went all the way to the end.

I hope this is useful.

I am using windows 7, Outlook 2010. I have noticed that when I forward an

confusing when going through previous emails that I have forwarded several

Any way I can fix this?

Hi Matthew

With Outlook closed.
Open the control panel.
Navigate to mail.
After pressing enter a dialog opens.
Use, shift control, to find the data tab.
Here you tab through the buttons and options ,until you land in the list
view.
Here use the up and down arrow keys to find your file.
On my machine JAWS announces jeff.ost, at the end of the file announcement.
Now shift tab back to the delete button and use space bar.
Close this dialog as well as control panel and open Outlook.

Hello;
Not sure if this will help,
But it may be worth giving it a try.

In case you need to troubleshoot Outlook, it is a good idea to load Outlook
without loading any 3rd party Outlook add-ins. This article explains just
how to do it.

Among other culprits, Outlook add-ins are the usual suspect when Outlook
runs slow or triggers unexpected errors. To determine if the installed
add-ins are causing you problems, the easiest thing to do is to start
Outlook with no add-ins.

Outlook command line switch for add-ins

In order to load Outlook without add-ins, you have to exit Outlook and type
the following command in a RUN window or in a Windows command prompt:

Outlook /safe:3

Please note that, while the above command will cause Outlook to load with no
add-ins, the add-ins are still going to be displayed in the Add-in Manager
window.

open this view in File Explorer, you can create shortcuts for any of them.
Open the Run dialog (Windows+R=run), type in:

shell:AppsFolder

and then press enter to view this folder.

apps-folder

Find an app you wish to create a shortcut for, right-click (applications
key, or, shift+f10 and choose Create shortcut from the pop-up menu that
appears.

create-shortcut

You'll be prompted that the shortcut cannot be placed here, and Windows will
recommend placing it on the desktop instead. Press enter on Yes. A shortcut
with the name App-Name Shortcut (Mail Shortcut) will appear on the desktop.
You can leave this as-is, or rename it (I usually remove the word,
Shortcut). And you can of course move the shortcut to any folder as needed.

Now, just repeat for all the app shortcuts you need.

snappy.
I urge anyone planning to use the version 18, see the two freedom scientific

So far no problems with the beta. Final release should be in two weeks.

So far the talk over the current beta cycle has been very minimal on here.
Either nobody is using it or nobody is having any problems. I am curious as
to which it is so far.

It works fine for me since the start. I still have a little sluggishness
going from message to message in live mail 2012, but other than that it
seems fine.

3.5.

Since I upgraded to JAWS 17, I am having a problem that I had when I first
installed JAWS 16 last year; that problem got fixed in the first revision of
JAWS 16.

The problem is that JAWS 17keeps crashing without warning when I am using
Outlook 2013, Internet Explorer 11 and Word 2013. Sometimes it comes right
back; other times I have to press Windows m to get JAWS back; still other
times, I have to unload JAWS with Insert F4 and then use my hot key, Control
alt j, to bring JAWS back.

I finally gave up last night and went back to JAWS
16 until this gets fixed.

Any help or insight will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Hello, everyone.

I have a question that I hope will not be considered off topic for this
list.

I would like to purchase some sort of a Windows tablet to use when
traveling, and for when I don't want to drag my laptop computer around.

I am currently using Jaws 16, but plan to upgrade to Jaws 17 at some point,
probably in the next few months.

I assume that any windows-based tablet that I might get now will
automatically come with Windows 10 installed, which I'm ok with, since I'll
eventually need to upgrade my other computers to that operating system at
some point.

Can anyone give me recommendations and approximate costs of windows tablets
that would have sufficient resources to accommodate Jaws, and basic

At one point, I had considered moving to an IPad, but I am quite comfortable

tablet if at all possible.

Thank you!

What's New:

Enhancements in JAWS 17.0.1214 (November 2015)

The following is a list of improvements made between the initial JAWS 17
release and the November 2015 update.

Smart Navigation
list of 6 items
• When INSERT+X is used to toggle Smart Navigation, the JAWS focus now
remains at the location on the web page where you performed the toggle.
• The command to temporarily toggle Smart Navigation (INSERT+X) can
now be

found using the JAWS Command Search feature (INSERT+SPACEBAR, J).
• Resolved an issue where JAWS was not reading list items on certain web
pages when using Smart Navigation.
• Addressed a reported issue with the commands to read from the
beginning of
the line to the cursor (INSERT+HOME) and from the cursor to the end
of the

line (INSERT+PAGE UP) not working in a table cell when using Smart
Navigation.
• When using the V and SHIFT+V Navigation Quick Keys to move to the
next or
previous visited link, resolved an issue where all links on the
current line
were being read instead of the specific visited link if Smart
Navigation was

active.
• Addressed an issue where many blank lines were appearing on some
web pages

with Smart Navigation active.
list end

JAWS
list of 12 items
• Addressed an issue with the Amazon Product Search Research It lookup
source not returning results as expected.
• Addressed an issue with symbols not being read as expected when
inserted
into a document using the Select a Symbol to Print dialog box
(INSERT+4).
• In response to customer feedback, the folder path for the Explore
Scripts

shortcut has been changed from C:\ProgramData\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\17.0\Scripts\enu
to point to C:\ProgramData\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\17.0\Scripts.
• This update contains new drivers from HumanWare for the Brailiant BI
braille display in order to support Windows 10.
• If Active Follows Braille is not enabled, addressed issues where the
braille display would not move away from the structured line when
panning,

or using
the commands to move the braille cursor to the next or prior line (RIGHT
ROCKER BAR on Focus Blue braille displays).
• When entering text from the Perkins-style keyboard on a braille
display
using Unified English Braille (UEB) or another form of Contracted
English

Braille,
resolved an issue where contracted words beginning with dots 4-5-6,
such as
spirit, many, world, etc., were not appearing correctly in documents.
The

dots
4-5-6 portion of the word was being dropped when the word was
back-translated.
• When verbosity for Braille Flash messages is set to Advanced, resolved
customer reported issues where "sts" messages were being shown on the
braille
display even when the option to display status information was turned
off.
In addition, the flash messages for the INSERT+T and INSERT+Q
commands now

display
the short message as expected instead of the long message.
• If the JAWS cursor is configured to follow the PC Cursor using the
CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD Minus command, an issue was resolved where JAWS
was not

reading
as expected when moving between applications with ALT+TAB.
• Addressed an issue with JAWS not correctly identifying the factorial
symbol in MathML content.
• If you perform a two-finger double tap to open a context menu while
text

selection is active, the flick gestures will now work as expected to
navigate
through the menu items. Text selection is toggled by performing a
triple tap

with one finger.
• If you perform a five-finger tap to open the Run JAWS Manager
dialog box
from an Internet Explorer window, addressed an issue where you could
not use

touch gestures to navigate this dialog box.
• To address potential issues, changes have been made to the process of
compiling scripts so they are compatible with versions of JAWS prior
to 17.

The
Compatibility Mode option has been removed from Script Manager and

Hi Neil,
Good job, I knew you could do it.
Press Windows key+X, the first item is programs and features.
Press enter.
Works the same way as it did in w-7.
Highlight the version of Jaws that you want to uninstall, press enter.
Follow the prompts, keep shared components and shared settings.
Turn narrator on after Jaws is uninstalled with Windows key+Enter.
Press the windows key, up arrow to power, press enter.
Down arrow to restart, press enter.
After a few minutes, press Windows key+enter, to turn narrator on.
Sign-in, use narrator to go to your download folder where you should have
the latest Jaws 16 or 17 already downloaded.
Press enter on the Jaws file, turn narrator off, with, Windows key+enter.
When Jaws finishes installing,
Redo your shortcut keystroke for Jaws.
Redo the Start up on the log-in screen.
For whatever reason these two settings are not kept, all other settings for
Jaws are kept.
No need to restart after the installation of Jaws is complete.
Good luck...

Hi Wayne,
When you boot the computer, wait a minute or two, to allow the system too
load everything,
then press the Windows key + the Letter U, to open the "Ease of Access
Center".
Next, press Alt + the letter N, to start Narrator.
Be patient, Narrator may take a few seconds to start talking.
From this point, you should be able to navigate the pre-setup screens
using

the tab key and arrow keys.
Once you have completed this process, Windows should load the desktop, at
which time you can install Jaws.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 17 beta!

Hi.

My experience with jaws 17 have been such that I'm glad this is still a
public beta only. Try using 17 with a touch screen on a tablet computer,
my atom 1.8ghz quad core asus t100 is sluggish in quite a few places not
the least of which is skype for desktop. Try moving up and down your
contacts, if you're lucky JAWS will only be sluggish and keep talking
and focusing new items for several seconds after you take the finger off
the screen, but I've had plenty of jaws crash and restart, or jaws
shutdowns happen to me, the shutdowns are nasty because I have to
connect the keyboard dock long enough to use buttons to start jaws again.

While my t100 isn't exactly a speed demon, it does actually run pretty
good, and it did ok with jaws 16. I think this ought to be fixable given
that fact. I don't know if it has anything to do with extra code in use
to play the tick sounds when touching no man's land or what.

With the touch keyboard, if you put it in numbers mode and slide a
finger over to the number pad, you get extreme sluggishness or crash and
hopefully restarts of jaws. I duplicated this numerous times with my
asus t100 running windows 10 (see specs above) and my 3ghz core i7
hozwell lenovo yoga 2 pro with 8gb ram running windows 8.1.

Also, the touch keyboard is pretty dangerous on the t100 while trying to
type someone a skype chat, because if you accidentally touch above the
keyboard jaws will at least freeze temporarily, if not just crash and
again HOPEFULLY restart. I say hopefully there because it doesn't always
start up again, it just closes and you have to connect a keyboard or go
back into laptop mode long enough to press the buttons you need to start
jaws again.

The touch keyboard is a lot better, but the touch screen support right
now feels really gimmicky, 16 didn't have as many touch screen usability
features but it is far more responsive and stable.

My last issue is with smart navigation. If you have a page that uses a
list of links but they're all laid out horizontally on screen even
though they are indeed an html list, jaws insists on putting them in a
vertical layout. You can reproduce this on freedomscientific.com near
the top of the page with the navigation menu that contains items like
home, products, services, downloads, support, dealer locator and shop.
According to the jaws cursor (yes I really mean the jaws cursor), this
is a horizontal list, a bar of links that span the top of the website,
kind of looks like a menu bar. With the virtual pc cursor while you've
got smart navigation turned on, this appears to be a vertical list.

I have reported all of these concerns to fs via the 17 beta report form,
but as that form is crazily short on the edit boxes limiting the input
to too few characters to say all that I have to say, I wondered if there
was a chance I'd get Erick's or someone's attention on here, especially
if anyone else wants to confirm my findings, perhaps by duplicating my
problem reports via the beta report form at least.

I think the touch screen issues are likely fixable as jaws 16 is much
better. Oh also, is anyone else finding web browsing to be more sluggish
in internet explorer 11? Smart navigation is of course on, for elements
and tables.

Hi

I can't speak for Outlook 2013, but if you have a non-Gmail account, another
way to receive messages you send to an email list using the Gmail account is
to set up your Gmail account to use the outgoing server from your non-Gmail
account. You'll have to specify the user name and password for the outgoing
non-Gmail account. I like this method better because with the recent-colon
method, you receive a copy of every email you send via the Gmail account.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2013 question about Gmail

The question has arisen about configuring a Gmail account to receive your
own messages posted to a mailing list. I was under the impression the fix is
still the same as it was for several years placing the word recent with a
Colon after that before the account name on the server tab.

I must admit that I don't have 2013 although with some stumbling around am
able to figure things out when needed. I tried the fix mentioned above but
the server would not accept the password for the account until I removed the
recent fix so to speak.

So what is needed is somebody with greater experience with outlook 2013 to
chime in and give me some much guidance.

It is annoying when something I know should work does not and screws up my
batting average for the lack of a better term.

here's the article I copied and pasted it

Many of you have written concerned that you don’t have that little upgrade
icon for Windows 10 in the lower right corner of your Windows PC.

 windows-10-upgrade-symbol

So what’s going on? There could be several possibilities, so let’s run down
 the list.

It could be that your device doesn’t have the latest Windows updates. You
need to have updated to Windows 8.1 and have all current updates. Windows 7
must have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed as well as the latest Microsoft
 updates.

 For Windows 7 SP1:

 KB3035583

 KB2952664

 For Windows 8.1 Update:

 KB3035583

 KB2976978

Try running both critical and optional updates and installing them. There’s
a good chance you’ll see the icon then.

 checkforupdatescharm

You’ll only see an upgrade option for Windows 7 Home and Pro and Windows 8
Home and Pro versions. If you’re running an Enterprise edition, there won’t
be a free upgrade. Also, if you’re running Windows RT, there’s no upgrade.

Is your device part of a school or business network that’s managed by
administrator? You’ll have to check with the IT administrator about upgrades.

If Microsoft thinks your PC might not be able to run Windows 10, you won’t
see the get Windows 10 app before July 29. They’ll enable the app after that
 date.

There’s also a possibility that you aren’t running a genuine version of
Windows. The upgrade will only apply to genuine Windows versions.

 windowsactivated

If none of the above apply to you, Microsoft does offer a fix, but it’s a
complicated one that I’m going to copy verbatim from their support site. I
do not suggest trying this unless you are very comfortable with technology
and doing something like editing your registry.
 1.Open Notepad
2.Copy the following text and paste it into Notepad:

 REG QUERY “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
 NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\UpgradeExperienceIndicators” /v UpgEx |
 findstr UpgEx

 if “%errorlevel%” == “0” GOTO RunGWX

 reg add “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
 NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Appraiser” /v UtcOnetimeSend /t REG_DWORD
 /d 1 /f

 schtasks /run /TN “\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft
 Compatibility Appraiser”

 :CompatCheckRunning

 schtasks /query /TN “\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft
 Compatibility Appraiser”

 schtasks /query /TN “\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft
 Compatibility Appraiser” | findstr Ready

if NOT “%errorlevel%” == “0” ping localhost nul goto :CompatCheckRunning

 :RunGWX

 schtasks /run /TN “\Microsoft\Windows\Setup\gwx\refreshgwxconfig”
1.Click File, and then Save As
2.In the File name box, change the file name to ReserveWin10.cmd
3.Then click the dropdown next to Save as type, and select All files (*.*)
4.Select the folder you would like to save the file to. For this example,
let’s choose to save the file to the C:/Temp folder. Then click Save.
5.Open an elevated command prompt. (From the Start screen or Start menu,
type Command Prompt in the search box, and then in the list of results,
right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.)
6.Finally, run the file from the location you saved to in Step 6. In this
example, you would type the following in the Command Prompt window and hit
 Enter:C:/Temp/ReserveWin10.cmd

The Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser can take 10 – 30 minutes to run,
during which the script will continuously provide status reports that it is
 running. Please be patient.

If the script is failing in an infinite loop, then you don’t have the
 necessary prerequisite Windows Updates.

Hopefully one of these will work for you.

 Hey Dacia,

First of all you must have either Office 2013 or Office 365 installed on
your computer. It could be the Home edition, the Home and Business
Edition, or whatever. Then hopefully, you will already have the icons for
Word, excel, etc on your desktop. If you don't, then we can go through the

steps of putting them there, if you have one of these versions of Office.
Then, you could just go to your desktop and press enter on the icon for
Word and it, of course, would open. Let me know what version of Office you

are running , and we can take it from there.

As for more blind friendly versions of Word, I know that the web app is

On saving, I, again, open the file tab, and arrow to Save to save changes

the name that you want to give to the document. Then, simply tab down to
