Hi,
Actually, you can: you need to save membership list to a text file, then ask
Groups.IO to offer you a one-month transfer plan (ten dollars), which then
will allow you to add members directly via file upload method. Also, in
theory, you can port archives to Groups.IO provided that it is in Unix mbox
format.
Cheers,

Even though I have participated on this particular list minimally as a
contributor, I also vote for integrating the list with the existing JAWS
for Windows Users Group on the Groups.io e-mail list/online forum. No
purpose is served by having multiple JAWS user groups. It's one thing, for
instance, to have specialist groups like the JAWS scripting group, but if
one is looking to bring end users together the idea should be reaching the
largest audience in a single place.

Personally, I'd love to see the JAWS for Windows, NVDA, and Windows 10 for

Personally, I'd love to see the JAWS for Windows, NVDA, and Windows 10 for
Screen Reader Users groups "fused." There is very little that goes on in
any one of them that doesn't have partial or total cross-over interest for
the other. In addition, Groups.io gives you an exquisite level of control

I am considering moving the list over to groups IO as I understand they seem to
have less problems of being bounced by various internet providers. Over the
years and especially lately we have lost a number of good members since their
providers will not allow messages from this domain to get to subscribers, and
as such they bounce and get removed by the server. I can’t even contact these
people privately since my email address is tied to this domain.

I have to bring my people up to date on groups IO next, the good thing it is a
lot easier to figure out than Mailman. It is almost 10 years since the last
move and with luck this will be the last. I do not know how much longer I will
keep running this beast, but believe it or not in October it will be 13 years.
Bob and I never figured on it lasting this long, There is obviously a need
which is the reason for keeping it.

Screen Reader Users groups "fused." There is very little that goes on in
any one of them that doesn't have partial or total cross-over interest for
the other. In addition, Groups.io gives you an exquisite level of control
over just what e-mail messages you will get from any group of which you're
a member. See:

2018-07-20 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi David,
I am on numerous groups that are hosted by groups.IO. They all seem to work
quite well without any issues. I know there is some way to switch everyone
there at one time without anyone having to do anything. I think it would be a
good move on your part to move there. Just my two cents worth.

Re: [JAWS-Users] major announcement

2018-07-19 Thread Steve

David,

I run a pretty large list on Groups.io, the blind-hams list.

It has been good until mid-July, when it started bouncing some members. Of
some 240 members, nine were bouncing.

I sent "bounce reactivations" to them, and a majority I think are back on
with no problem. But, there were four people who I had to unsubscribe and
send them invitations to re-join.

I know that is still a better track record than the mailman lists, but just
want to let you know it isn't completely without some faults.

Hello David:

I think it is a wise move, with all the email security nowadays it is much
preferable to use such a service than hosting one's own list.

I have my "Hosting, podcasting and broadcasting" list at hr+subscr...@groups.io
and so far it works flawlessly. My Spanish-language internet radio list is
with googlegroups.com and likewise, that solved the bouncing problems I used to
have.

I will be quick to subscribe to the new list once you set it up.

lot easier to figure out than Mailman. It is almost 10 years since the last
move and with luck this will be the last. I do not know how much longer I will
keep running this beast, but believe it or not in October it will be 13 years.
Bob and I never figured on it lasting this long, There is obviously a need
which is the reason for keeping it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] table announcement

2018-02-18 Thread Adrian Spratt
My solution to this problem is to re-open the message in IE. So, open the
message, then press alt-h, pause a second, then a, pause a second, then v. Now
the message should have opened in IE. I mention these pauses because I find
taking these three steps too quickly makes the operation fail.

I don't know why JAWS has an easier time with complex email messages when put
in IE, but in my experience it does.

This method works in Outlook 2016 and 2010 and with IE11. If it matters, my OS
is Windows 7.

I have the same issue using Outlook 2007. I found that if I close Outlook
and reopen it I usually get rid of the tables but it is temporary and I have
to do it again when the tables come back. You can also open the message as
html by doing the following: Alt-h+x and then v. You can read the message
and then copy what you want or simply close it with Alt-f4.

[JAWS-Users] regarding announcement of region on webpage

2016-09-12 Thread korbamukesh
hello,
this is the query regarding the announcement of region available on
any webpage. one of my colleague is using jaws 16 on window 7 32
machine. after opening the internet explorer, when she visits any
webpage such as, google, youtube or any other webpage on which region
is available pressing letter r does not work. jaws just announces
there are no regions on this page. so she tried to upgrade her browser
from 8 to 9 still no luck. so she checked the settings under quick
settings by pressing insert+v and found the option related to live
regions. there were two check boxes which were already checked.
despite these efforts, jaws is not announcing the region. so could
anyone please tell me the solution for it?
your response would be highly obliged.
thanks,
mukesh

It is fine if you have a problem with FS, this is not the place for it to be
discussed. I have already received quite a bit of hate mail from the person
who started this out today.

In the past month I have received a number of complaints and believe it or
not also a death threat for not running things the way some people think
things should be handled.

I try to be understanding but flaming will not be tolerated. If I want to
watch people fight I'll go to a family reunion.

So let's just put this to bed and try to move on. No I am not going to

No I am not going to
remove you from the list since you caught yourself, don't worry about it.

[JAWS-Users] Annoying announcement with I E.

2012-12-02 Thread Rich
Hi all,
 I have XP and 13.0 and I E 8.
Whenever I go to I E, I hear History, tree view,... number of items.
I'll hear a list of every web site or document that I have been on until the
desired web page comes up.

Is there a way to keep the historyfrom coming up, or from announcing that
list?

Thanks so much.

[JAWS-Users] importan announcement

2007-08-23 Thread David Ferrin
It is almost a shock to me that the list has reached such a mile stone in it's
existence. It is my pleasure to report that at this very moment the membership
has grown to 300. It does bounce around some what, but right now the database
is showing 300 members total. Also welcome to the 20 plus members who have
joined us in the past couple of weeks. I never would have believed it possible
2 years ago when I was kicking this idea around, thanks to the management team
of Bob, Rick, and of course last but certainly not least our lady living on an
island paradise Kerry for helping me make it work. Also to all of you out there
that have given the list a life of it's own supporting each other and helping
out your fellow man. I'm going to climb down off of my soap box right now and
go back to bed, good night for now.

I do for a fact screen members before they are allowed to post. You don't
see any Spam on the list, at least not so far any way. So far as any of
those free services are concerned this list is no longer using any of them
at all. It in fact is being hosted by my web space provider actually and as
such is independent of Yahoo or google.

David, congratulations. I do wish, however, that there were some way for
you to screen members. The amount of spam that no doubt comes from my
membership in Goodle or Yahoo groups is disgusting. Some of it even
addresses me by my e mail address which is disquieting and annoying. marilyn
