I’ve never heard of this one. Is there period or just straight out pay first?

I also have a ftp server, but I run it from windows. I’d love to move it over

Re: An app to make an FTP server in a mac?

Hi,

OS X Server has been around since the dawn of OS X. It used to be more
enterprise oriented and be considerably more costly, but now is simply $20 or
equivalent depending on your local currency. It’s quite easy to set up and
fairly easy to manage. You can implement a basic server components without
much fuss although more advanced features take more network and server
administration know how.

Re: Creating Recipes In Mac Gourmet Deluxe vs. iOS

2014-01-30 Thread Jim Gatteys
Hi!
Have you read the users guide first? I'd recommend that and then if it is not
clear I will try to answer anything I can. Mariner says that if clippings does
not show up under services then quit and relaunch the program and see if it is
there. But remember you have services under safari and clip recipe should be
there as well. also in other programs like TextEdit there will be clip recipe
and you can go into preferences and keyboard and shortcuts to define a
keystroke for clip recipe. They may have defined one already. But I really
would recommend reading the user manual. It is a pdf file and it works pretty
well. There is a lot of good info there. Whick version of Mac Gourmet do you
have, and do you have the standard or deluxe version?

not locate the clip recipe. I am getting better at the Mac OS, but I am
still a beginner and need more concrete step-by-step directions. Please be
patient with me, as I don't give up easily, but it may take more time for
this senior brain on the uptake of a new program. The iOS version seems to be
simple and straight forward. I don't have problems inputting a recipe on that
platform, but my text files are stored on my Air, so it's logical that I
would gravitate to the Mac version of Mac Gourmet Deluxe. Any further
 assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and if need be, please don't hesitate to contact me off

Then Mac Gourmet will put it into the clippings section and it easy from

now. I have a busy task at hand to get the recipes into this application.
However, once this is done, it will be extremely handy in the kitchen. All
suggestions on how to input the info on the Mac side would be appreciated.

 Thanks in advance.

And if you bring text from other apps, use Paste with the same stile, so you

An other good advice would be to try not to put too much text on each slide.
If you run from top to bottom by the text and you find that special page

Hello All,

I wasn't going to add to this thread, but I havenoticed on my Mac Air running

So, I'm wondering if it's really an OS or voiceover bug or the idea of a

Re: Creating Recipes In Mac Gourmet Deluxe vs. iOS

2014-01-30 Thread Eileens Misrahi
Hi Jim,

I have the deluxe version and I think the version number is 4.0. I received a
license key directly from the developer after purchasing it. I have read some
of the PDF manual, but not in it's entirely. Maybe, I need to start from the
top and bookmark certain sections until I get more acquainted with the program
itself. I'll also check in text edit under services to see what I have. Once I
have used Mac Gourmet Deluxe more, I will post or contact you with more
specific questions.
Thanks.

Have you read the users guide first? I'd recommend that and then if it is
not clear I will try to answer anything I can. Mariner says that if
clippings does not show up under services then quit and relaunch the program
and see if it is there. But remember you have services under safari and clip
recipe should be there as well. also in other programs like TextEdit there
will be clip recipe and you can go into preferences and keyboard and
shortcuts to define a keystroke for clip recipe. They may have defined one
already. But I really would recommend reading the user manual. It is a pdf
file and it works pretty well. There is a lot of good info there. Whick
version of Mac Gourmet do you have, and do you have the standard or deluxe
 version?

not locate the clip recipe. I am getting better at the Mac OS, but I am
still a beginner and need more concrete step-by-step directions. Please be
patient with me, as I don't give up easily, but it may take more time for
this senior brain on the uptake of a new program. The iOS version seems to
be simple and straight forward. I don't have problems inputting a recipe on
that platform, but my text files are stored on my Air, so it's logical that
I would gravitate to the Mac version of Mac Gourmet Deluxe. Any further
 assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and if need be, please don't hesitate to contact me off

It is very easy to get recipes into Mac Gourmet Deluxe. If you have a text
file you can select the text you want to import and then find clip recipe
under services. You can define a keystroke to do this to make it quicker.
Then Mac Gourmet will put it into the clippings section and it easy from
there. You have various fields like name, ingredients, directions and
more. You highlight the ingredients and press command-5 for ingredients
and command-6 for directions. There is a very clear explanation of this in
 the user manual.
Hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Re: Any gotchas about Keynote?

2014-01-30 Thread Daniela Rubio
Hi again!
Keynote for iOS is very good. I use it on an iPad and what I like, is that it
is totally compatible with the one on the mac.
I really do the hard work for presentations in my mac, but I love presenting
from the iPad. As I can read the slides in Show mode, I really don't need the
presenters notes ... of course, when the presentation is too complex, I use mac
and the notes to keep track of where I am.
The other thing that I like of keynote, both in mac and iOS, is that you can
add descriptions to the images you use. So a blind person also knows what is on
the picture. Mostly, I use these descriptions for my self.
Well, If you need some advice on more specific things, just send a private
message and I can sure help you!
Take care!

Two) when I send a message to this list, a copy of it is stored in the
important folder on my Gmail account on my iPhone 5s running iOS the latest. Do
responses to this message go to this important folder as well, and not to the

Three) as anyone responding to these messages, and I have not responded to

Four) I have a MacBook with an iTunes music library of about 80 GB. It is
currently shared on my Wi-Fi network, with no password. How do I get an iPhone

TK: Just a habit, I guess. I usually read most of the message in case
something important is further down. Sort of like the Pirates of the Caribbean

of people missed because they leave the theatre before the credits are done.

Re: Questions re iOS

2014-01-30 Thread Erik Heil
 Hello
To try and answer your questions, messages on all my IOS devices are not at
all delivered to the important folder. As far as copies of messages being
sent, Gmail does not send you copies of mail sent to mail that is sent on
mailing lists. This policy is not local, so you cannot change it. As a
temporary fix, you may not want to sync that folder in your Impa
configuration--the IOS native mail user agent does sllow the user to select
which Imap folders re actually synched. Feel free to mail me off-list and
I can try and help you out ad much as I possibly can.

I managed to create the folders fine, and they show up in the document

space or VO-Space on the folder, all folders open to reveal their contents, but
then pressing VO-Space, Space, Return, or mouse clicking on the documents does

Re: Creating Folders for iCloud Documents

Hi Nick,

It works well for me with the Open dialog in List mode. So,

1. Open Pages.
2. If the Open dialog doesn't automatically appear, press cmd-o to bring up
the dialog.
3. Press cmd-2 to put it into List mode.
4. Press cmd-shift-i to get to iCloud documents.
5. Navigate to the File List or Table and Interact with it.
6. Navigate to the specific folder you want to open.
7. Press VO-back slash to expand it.
8. Navigate to the document you want to open.
9. Press return.

The document should open as usual, at least it does every time for me.

Collaboration with pages?

2014-01-30 Thread Alex Hall
Hi all,
I'm looking at Pages (which I just bought) as a collaboration tool, since
Google Docs is so inaccessible. I had my sister make a new pages document in
iCloud, then send me the link. I thought it would automagically appear in my
iCloud files in pages, but no luck. I clicked the link in the email, figuring
it would add the file then, or at least download it... Nope.

So, how do I work on the same file as someone else? Is collaboration even
possible using just Pages, or is the (still inaccessible) Pages on
www.icloud.com the only way? Thanks for any help here - I'm new to pages and
document collaboration both.

Re: Can I dual boot with Mavrick?

2014-01-30 Thread Alex Hall
You can definitely boot from an external drive. Plug it in and use System
Preference startup Disk to choose it, or hold down the option key during
startup and arrow to the drive. Note that the latter option does not talk. I've
never tried making multiple boot partitions outside of Bootcamp, so you may
want to google that first (you are far from the first to want to do this). I
see no reason it could not work, but then Apple sometimes places odd
restrictions you don't see coming.

Re: Collaboration with pages?

2014-01-30 Thread Nicholas Parsons
Hi Alex,

For now, collaboration via iCloud from the Mac or iOS version of iWork can only
be done by someone sharing the link via iCloud and the recipient editing via
the web version of iWork. In other words, both people cannot use the Mac/iOS
versions of iWork. Only one Apple ID retains a copy of the document in iCloud,
the other people with authorisation to edit the document must use the web app.

At least that is my understanding. I looked into it recently because I assumed
it would work the same way as you did. But things might have changed without me
knowing.

Anyway, this doesn't stop you just saving the document in Dropbox and sharing
it that way. It's not good for syncing with iOS, but it's great for syncing
between Macs.

Best,
Nic

Re: Changing Item Sizes in Pages?

2014-01-30 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Alex,

Having inserted your text box, navigate to it. VoiceOver will say: Rectangle
layout item.
Jump to the Formatter using VO-j and select Arrange.
In the Arrange formatter scroll area, navigate down to Size where you'll find
the object's dimensions. Below that is Position which gives its X and Y
coordinates.

Both Size and Position are editable so you can make the object whatever size
you want.

Cheers,

Anne

 Hi all,
I'm messing around in Pages, just getting a feel for things. One issue I've
run into is sizing items. For instance, I inserted a text box into a
document, but how do I size it? For that matter, how do I even know how big
it is? Is there a way to define it as being as tall as the surrounding text,
or one line long, or other easy metrics? Thanks for any help on this!
