You can buy an obd connector with clips to put on a 12V battery to keep all the
electronics happy while you disconnect the main battery. It puts power to the
power pin on the obd port. I got one off eBay or Banggood or something that was
$5 or so

Cool! Make sure you are adequately defensed when you go out. Those things are
faster than you.

I had a black panther walk across the back yard about 12yr ago. Killed a big
deer in the woods about 150ft from the house, ate half of it then got the rest
the next night. Haven’t seen it since though last year there were cougar
sitings on Wadmalaw next island over. Lots of woods here for them and plenty of
food. Had a bobcat (mama with 2 babies) kill a little deer right in front of
the house and leave it under some azaleas. I dragged it into the woods and they
ate it that night. That was a few years ago.

Weirdly (or so I thought) there is a company called NuScale Power that just
started advertising their small modular reactors on the radio here. On an
"urban" station out of Indianapolis. Not sure why, hard to imagine that the
audience of that station has much potential involvement with nuclear energy.
But maybe they are looking to do some projects in Indiana and want to try to
get public sentiment on their side.

136 litres and the price for regular today was $1.739 per litre so if
the truck was empty and I filled it, the price would be $236.50 and I
hear it is going up more.

I have not been filling because I park outside at the back lane and I am
concerned that there will be people out stealing gas. I just hope that
they won't drill a hole in my fuel tank in order to get the gas. That
would be expensive and potentially dangerous. If it caught fire, it

Got this in an email from my HOA today:

"Please accept this email as a friendly caution that we have been notified by
Arizona Fish and Game that a Mountain Lion was spotted on Oakmont Drive. For
the safety of yourself and your animals please be careful and keep a watchful
eye out."

My house is on Oakmont. We have deer and elk in the yard, but have never seen a
mountain lion. Yet.

Of course, the rest of the issues might not have surfaced yet.

Yeah, I read that, too. The 320 and 350 were both the bulletproof M112. That’s
why I rarely put a lot of credence behind these “best of” reviews. Granted,
they did call out the M272 and it’s issues, but that was a major recall anyone

the waste heat would be used in the home, and that $8 could
perhaps easily stretch to a year.

Of course, uranium has gone up, apparently rather a lot recently.
(It was $11/lb in 2003, and $100/lb in 2007.) Even so, still sounds
pretty affordable.

Now, if only there was a "Mr. Fission" desktop reactor...

The US Govt is sitting on some billion (!) pounds of
uranium, in the form of depleted UF6. Only needs Mr. Fission
and some slight enrichment in order to be ready to go!

At about 20,000 kWH/lb I could run my house at full feed load,
electric furnace turned to '11', doors left open, my wife in charge
of the lights, and everything else turned on too, for 16 days.

Should be able to stretch it to a month, easy, under normal
use patterns. (Perhaps three.) I'd be OK with an $8/month
power bill. With any reasonable co-generation implementation,
the waste heat would be used in the home, and that $8 could
perhaps easily stretch to a year.

Fischer Tropsch.

Take cheap electricity from nuclear energy (thorium from coal) turn our coal
into gasoline and diesel, and tell the rest of the world to piss off.

We have enough coal reserves to last 400 years.

Never going to happen.

I work for the energy Department in the late 1970s. We were tracking
uranium shipments for nuclear power plants that were on the books. The
price of uranium shut up from $8 to $40 a pound when it became obvious that
there was not going to be enough to supply all those power plants. Then one
by one they all got canceled and what do you know, uranium fell back to $8.

I've cut my carbs way back this year. We used to do meat, veg and a starch for
dinner. That's changed to meat and two veg. I've finally started to see some
weight loss so I guess it's helping. I explained to Angie that it's harder to
over eat on asparagus than it is on Kraft Dinner...

The flour goes mostly to pizzas, our bread machine makes good pizza dough. This
year I've stepped up my biscuit game too, finally realized keeping the butter
cold really does make a difference.

Re: [MBZ] Oil

2022-03-09 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
I'm planning on a trip to stock up on canned goods. We've been eating hominy
and artichokes lately. I cooked some into a chicken pot pie last week that was
pretty good. Those are both somewhat specialty and go out of stock on the
regular.
Green beans and niblets are on our regular rotation. Guess I better grab some,
they probably aren't going to be cheaper any time soon.

Geezer day tomorrow is 5% discount so that will make it $0.92/can. Not a bad
deal.

They often do bogo on pasta sauce so I get that too, and canned tomato stuff is
on sale this week too. Last week was green beans $0.37/can (35 with geezer
discount 10 max), the dogs like beans in their supper so those usually last

The tranny cooler might be but that is typically leaking coolant into the

be the other way as coolant pressure is more than oil pressure. I have only

why, but the shelves have been empty for pasta both here and in Flagstaff.

I didn't mean to disparage you that way, I meant the empty shelves were caused
by panic buying. A large subsection of the country has no idea why the cost of
gas is rising.

I'm weaning myself off social media with Pokemon on my old Nintendo Gameboy SP.
I got a Everdrive (made or at least designed ,in Ukraine) which allows me to
put games on an SD card. I can download all the games ever made for the thing,
it's great.

[MBZ] Oil

2022-03-09 Thread dan penoff.com via Mercedes
Went to Wally Whirled this morning. Oil aisle was destroyed, with maybe 50% or
more of the shelves empty. I found two 0W-40 M1 five quart jugs and snagged
them at the $27/jug price. I didn’t look at their web site before I went. I was
hoping to find a couple of the 12 quart boxes of the stuff which they had on an
end cap for some time, but no sign of it anywhere.
