When I first bought from Heritage, I thought the settlement process was really
difficult and thus very unpleasant. I really did not like it one bit.

But lately, I do nothing now after an auction I won ends and they just send it
to me about a week later. They have my card details, address and shipping
preference on file.

I do get a bit annoyed with Heritage still as I perceive the packaging very
excessive. I am talking a folded poster drowning in 4 inches of peanuts. All
you other good dealers can send me a poster in unbendable board in a slim
envelope.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. Also the seemingly continuing change
of personnel at the billing department slows things down. Before

Re: [MOPO] Anyone else experience consistent shipping issues with Heritage?

2009-12-05 Thread Susan Heim

Yes Randy, I agreee. Remember, part of that time is the actual shipping
process. I ship a package via Fedex from Los Angeles to say New York and it
takes 5-7 shipping days to get there, so that is at least one week or more of
the delivery process. Following an auction of the quantity of material Heritage
ships, it does take a few days to put the order together, get it processed and
out the door and that is assuming you paid either the day of the auction or the
next day. Since most of their auction are near or an a weekend, when no
shipping pickups occur, that adds to the process also. I have never had a
problem with them or Bruce or any of the auction houses. I know we live in an
instant gratification world, but I don't think 2 weeks is that long from
auction to your door. As for overpackaging, most people are usually complaining
the packaging is inadequate and often their items sustained damaged in shipment
because of said packaging. Now you get a company that is being accused of over
packaging, I guess you just can't please everybody.

Believe me, I know that situation. It doesn't happen often, but every
once in awhile I get a customer that orders a frame on Monday and will call me
Thursday or Friday to say that they haven't received it yet. They aren't even
taking into consideration that the frame is being custom made to their size
specifications, and the box, which typically contains a huge oversize frame, is
being shipped 3000 miles to them. I'll tell you though who is the fastest
shipper I have ever had and that is Rick Ryan. I have ordered a poster from him
one day and had it the next. That's superhumanly fast!! Hope all is well with
everyone..

Yup, I consider 'within 2 weeks' receipt to be acceptable performance for any
internet-based purchase that requires careful packaging and 'handling'. I
purchase quite a bit of diverse stuff online and my expectations vary
considerably. If it's something you can just toss in a box and drop in the
mail, then yes, I expect to get it in a few days. If it's something like a
Notorious onesheet (for example), then I really don't want someone to pop it in
a flimsy tube and ship it, forgetting the endcaps (yes, it's happened). I
don't expect a seller to be at my beck and call, but I do expect them to get
around to it within a week. So yes, 2 weeks, and if I haven't received the
poster (or prop, which may also be susceptible to damage en route) by then,
I'll probably drop the seller a line.

Depending on what you sell, your patrons could be correct to expect their
shipments from you within a week. On the other hand, you could be attracting a
bunch of obsessive compulsive nerds who need to chill out.

No fair saying Bruce Hershenson in this context, because I don't ever pack

But thanks for the too-kind words. I think it especially impressive given

On a few occasions I had to elevate to Grey he was very responsive. BUt, I wish it would rub off on "some" of the others in their customer service and/or billing dept which I won;t mention any names. BUt, it's possible we get spoiled from the "exceptional" shippng service from other dealers and auction houses of which some have been mentioned. If 2-3 weeks is no problem for you, that's fine but it is NOT good business for me to leave my customers in limbo with NO communication. .
And, as far as " I guess you just can't please everybody"., I guess that would include the NINE people who responded to me privately, with a concensus you can probably figure out. And, GREAT packing does NOT and should NEVER translate into VERY late shipping AND Non-responsive customer service.

I had the same experience just now. I asked them what they would have done had
I not called. She said they would eventually get around to it.

Anyone else experience consistent shipping issues with Heritage? I am amazed
for such a big auction house how delayed and/or completely forgotten many of
my shipments are. On THREE occasions over the past 4-5 years they actually LOST
items I won. Two they never found and one they found about a month later. ANd,
almost everytime I get posters I have to contact customer service to ask
where's my stuff. It's looks from the outside , like they do NOT have a
very competent shipping system or department. And, this has been the case ever
since I started buying from Heritage. Sometimes they tell me my shipments are
late becasue I paid late or have another outstanding invoice , but then the
same experience when I pay immediately. ?? AND, it's NOT just when I buy
posters but also extertainment or sports memorabilia.I deal with about 6-7
auction houses on a regular basis and it's only Heritage need to stay on top of
or my shipments may NEVER go out.
 Happened agin this w!
eek, I made a substantial purchase in their entertainment auction which I paid
Tuesday. I sent two of their billing managers an email and also their customer
service dept. All I wanted was some kind of a status , maybe even a response.
Friday is over and not even a response. Anyone else have this experience?

I pick up new movie paper at every Heritage signature auction and almost every
weekly internet auction. Without exception, my acquisitions are packed
extremely well and shipped promptly. I got my November signature auction
winnings within 3 weeks, having paid by check. Weekly internet auction
purchases, which I pay for through paypal, always arrive within 2 weeks. Of
course, I do always pay my invoices promptly...

Re: [MOPO] Anyone else experience consistent shipping issues with Heritage?

2009-12-04 Thread Randall Petersen
Yup, I consider 'within 2 weeks' receipt to be acceptable performance for any
internet-based purchase that requires careful packaging and 'handling'. I
purchase quite a bit of diverse stuff online and my expectations vary
considerably. If it's something you can just toss in a box and drop in the
mail, then yes, I expect to get it in a few days. If it's something like a
Notorious onesheet (for example), then I really don't want someone to pop it in
a flimsy tube and ship it, forgetting the endcaps (yes, it's happened). I don't
expect a seller to be at my beck and call, but I do expect them to get around
to it within a week. So yes, 2 weeks, and if I haven't received the poster (or
prop, which may also be susceptible to damage en route) by then, I'll probably
drop the seller a line.

Depending on what you sell, your patrons could be correct to expect their
shipments from you within a week. On the other hand, you could be attracting a
bunch of obsessive compulsive nerds who need to chill out.
