Argh; mea culpa. Thanks for the very quick reply, Hans. It does work "as 
expected" (albeit deprecated)---Tracking down errors, I was misled by an error 
immediately following the deprecation warning and associated it with the 
warning, not the subsequent text.

French:   10\,000,00
(and other languages).

This is quite readable, and much preferred to the use of any kind of
macro that might format numbers according to language.

I find that students often need such helpers when deciphering many

Let's not forget all of these spaces commands are used in math mode.
Sure, and thet adaot to math mode. They will nto dissppear, it's just
that in macros I like more verbose names.

When your goal is to format C or C++ code you can load the scite module 
which provides support for additional languages.


The \setuptyping line is necessary because the module selects the wrong 
formatter for C++ but this should be fixed in the next ConTeXt release 
and you can remove it when you make a update to the newest version.

I tried a system-wide install of luametatex,
but having my binaries in a disk mounted with w^xallowed
did not change anything.

I tried to compile different files, but cannot guess yet
where do the crash come from. 
If it can help, I uploaded the luametatex.core file and files
that were compiled during the crash at this adress:

When I compiled this file, I had the first crash at page 12.
Retrying to compile made it crash at page 3.
I did not wipe the cache between compilations, nor made
mtxrun --generate and context --make.

I'm afraid, I didn't completely understand all of you about
transliterating commands name. I don't want to do this.
I don't want to translate or transliterate command names.

I just want to transliterate *text* part of input.

I can't split *commands and math* input from *text* input, because there is
inline math and commands are all around .
It is serious amount of switching. (ALT+ SHIFT keys), and when i'm thinking
about what i should type(about subject) i forget to switch, and that's
happening all the time.

Mojca, for 'ž'  i again have to switch keyboard.

Also, Mojca probably the best understand what i want and that Serbian
language can  be  written equally in  latin and cyrillic script.
Some people privately write in one script and some other people in another.
So there is a lot of scripts in Serbia written in latin script.
But official is CYR.

ОТ2 doesn't transliterate commands--- just text --- and i'm able to type
'zh' and 'ж' in the same file and he knows  what i want,
both input characters he treats the same. Even more Babel understand that
too, and hyphenate words according the rules define in cyr.

No, this is a feature, not a bug!

According to the original graph macros, the data files are kept open, and thus 
subsequent reads will pick up successive data sets in a single file. This is 
explicitly stated in the documentation.

A consequence for us in ConTeXt mkiv, where the metapost code is called in 
multiple passes, is that one must explicitly close the data file if one does 
not want this feature. This, too, I documented. So don't break John Hobby's 
code by removing the saved.

I will try to find a working solution with a float. If I cannot solve my 
problem I will post a minimal example, although I think that to show what I 
would like to do but cannot do I will need a fairly large example.

In the wiki, http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Titles, there is a MWE of how to
flush section head data without typesetting it in the text. But then
\placelist gives a wrong order of sections and subsections:

1   First section

If \setuptexttexts is omitted and the argument placehead=yes instead of
placehead=hidden, then the order is correct:

I run the same file again and I think that main things in my log file is not 
different from yours.

Do you use Adobe Reader to view the pdf files?
The pdf viewer of TeXShop and that of TeXworks can not show the animation.

If you have the trouble even if you use the adobe reader, I don’t know the 
solution.

I hope that animation feature works in your computer.

In the \startxmlsetups section I tried to put that condition in a
\xmlsetsetup, but I commented it out because it did not work.

inferring that this might help. At present I have treated the files as two
separate documents. I didn't take too much time looking at how to set up the
project structure because it wasn't clear that I needed it. But I can see
how this might impact cross references between documents.

formulas in another document. This is a good solution. However the example
below doesn't give usable results because the references to the external
formula output by test2.tex does not include the chapter number:

Using the \usereferences tag works if I label formulas 'bytext' rather than
by 'bysection' and turn off chapter prefixes in test1.tex using the
following at the start of the document:

\setupformulae[way=bytext,prefixsegments=None]

I would really prefer to maintain numbering by section, but to do this, I
need test2.tex to show external references in the same way as test1.tex (by
including the section number in front of the equation number). Is there a
way to do this at present? If not, labeling formulas 'bytext' will work for
now even if it isn't ideal.

In your example the paper has the same size as the page but you try draw a 
frame which is larger than the page. The question is where you expect the frame 
to appear.

FYI:

I have had similar problems with the grid. I set a portion of my book in 
a different typeface to simulate a hand-written letter. With the grid 
on, the lines in the alternate typeface are spaced quite widely (double 
space?). It seems to be related to the size or x-height of the 
alternate font. If different than the size of the body font, things go 
awry. If I use something like italics instead of a different typeface, 
though, no problems are seen.

 Whenever I want to learn about a command I don't know yet, I grep for

reuse of any previous MP instances...)

It simply translates the (0,0,0) triplet (which is black) to the (1,1,1) 
triplet (which is white).  This is very simplistic and may not do all that you 
want.

Unfortunatly there is no such a sequence in my file:

I doubted that it would work, but thought that I would try just the same.

I put together this little utility for converting a color EPS/PDF/SVG to
grayscale.

http://www.tlhiv.org/grayscale/

Selecting invert swaps colors from white to black and black to white.
So, using a black/white graphic on a transparent background should
transform it to a white/black graphic on a transparent background.

Testing is certainly necessary.

I tried that and it has no effect. I also found this article here:

...but that makes no difference either. My chapter titles continue to run off

 I use a Korean unfont as main fonts and an English fonts as fallback font 
 using the following type script file which is made by the help of Hans and 
 D.H. Kim.
 You may set fonts similarly.
 
 Korean fonts contained Chinese glyph(not all of them) and Japanese glyph, we 
 don't have any problem to use them.

Thank you. I tried to adapt this (see below), but I'm not sure how to
invoke this typescript. There are \usetypescript \setupbodyfont and
\setmainfont from the simplefonts module, none of which seem to do what

 in your first example the counter is incremented but in your second example
 \startchapter sets the counter back to zero.

 To have a counter which isn?t reset you need ?way=bytext and to remove
 the chapter number from the \getnumber result you have to add ?prefix=no?.

 The full \definenumber declaration is then 
 \definenumber[examplecounter][way=bytext,prefix=no]

Ah ok, auctex.
You are under windows, right ?
Maybe open a cmd.exe, set the env. vars.
with setuptex.bat
and then run emacs, always fro the same shell.
Anyway, I think that context support in auctex  is a bit outdated.

Well, I was thinking about that last night. Technically, yes: one is only 
supposed
to have one per or / in a unit, and any subsequent ones have no effect.

But actually I now think that if an author wants that, there may be reasons, so 
let's leave it as it is. Then you can actually write

It is correct that 
\unit{1 metre per second per second} is
\unit{1 metre per second second} and is also
\unit{1 metre per square second}.
\stoptext

 What exactly do you plan to do with the language check, for simple texts your 
 method is overkill and labeltexts are better suited, even a command which 
 prints a text can be written in TeX without problems:
 

Yes, you are right. Those methods are  beyonds of my normal use. 
For me, either \doifelse or context.setvalue is enough to set some labels 
depending on  two languages, Korean and English. However, it is a good 
oppertunity to know various methods and lua codes.
 
I didn't know that \labeltext can do the same thing. Your sample gives me a new 
ideas to handle them.

Korean labels are working well, but the index tagging need a little more.

I checked index in my file and found that some words which should be in the 
same group are scattered.
Also, the order of list doesn't follow the order of korean letter.

the order should be

ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄹ, ㅁ, ㅂ, ㅅ, ㅇ, ㅈ, ㅊ, ㅋ, ㅌ, ㅍ, ㅎ

In english index, Capital letter and small letter are mixed.

Can you send the files (project, product etc.) offline because it’s not
possible to say whats wrong with this example.

The \starttext/\stoptext aren’t necessary because \startcomponent/\stopcomponent
itself acts like them and \starttext itself is just ingored.

I've tried to find a function to translate text to number but I've not find it.

manipulating the number that way is just a lucky guess: pagecommand (and

I'm a little bit disappointed that it's not possible.

But the waiting time for my students to get the lecture notes is over : I'll 
give them the handout with no page numbers.

you can try to use \structurelistrealpagenumber which is set for each entry
