[NTG-context] runner (was: Law/Jurisdiction typesetting)
Hi, now I found something (for LaTeX) that looks like exactly what I mean: a runner see http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/juramisc/doc/jmgerdoc.pdf , page 20: \rn[ (Marke) ] { (erstes Wort) } rn steht für Randnummer oder für runner, der englischen Bezeichnung für Randziffern. [NTG-context] TOC fine-tuning (urgent)
Hi, at a large project's end (480pages, 10pages TOC) I need to fine-tune content and MyContent (with \writebetweenlist ...). As processing these 1.5 million characters each time takes about 10 minutes, fine-tuning seems to be impossible. What is needed is a way to place the TUO file instead the re- calculated \complete content. Once, Hans kindly send this patch, but I can't make real use of it: \unprotect \def\dodoplacecombinedlist[#1][#2]% {\dobeginoflist \dosetuplist[#1][#2]% \doutilities{listentries,#1}\jobname{#1}\relax\par \doendoflist} \protect just change \jobname to {somename.tuo} I guess when my TUO normally is called test.tuo I should copy it to a testtest.tuo and next, instead of \completecontent I use \placecombinedlist [content][file=testtest] . This works, but takes long too, as again all chapters are processed. So I comment all the \component lines in my project structure in order just to integrate my placecombinedlist[content][file=testtest]. But these pages are empty now. Anyone can help me there? But apart from Wolfgang's very elegant solution you can do it also a more ConTeXt-like way: As you may have seen I use ConTeXt's project-structure ... \setupsectionblock[frontpart][page=no] \setupsectionblock[bodypart][page=no] \setupsectionblock[backpart][page=no] ... and the lowest part of this structure is the component – which in my case is the chapter. [NTG-context] re-using ConTeXt typescripts ?
Hi Adam, the simplicity of XeTeX's font handling is amazing -- when starting from scratch. But I am wondering how can I continue to use the typescripts (and virtual files) that I used to use with ConTeXt?! texexec --xtx --example.file ends in an error log containing: This is METAFONT, Version 2.71828 (Web2C 7.5.4) kpathsea: Running mktexmf AGaramond-Regular ! [NTG-context] Feature request
Hi, it would be great if the \placefigure macro could be extended to combinations like \placefigure{top,left} or \placefigure{bottom,outer} The reason for this request is that we use ConTeXt a lot for typesetting books from arts and humanities. There we often have to place a lot of (more then 100) figures at fixed positions like top-outer and bottom-inner, wrapped by text. I guess it's not a trivial feature to be implemented in TeX's paragraph processing, but I know it might be worth the effort: ConTeXt's way to deal with fonts and text is so superior that it should be also accessible for disciplines that besides text also rely on images - as the arts and humanities do. So in this example it doesn't seem to be possible to keep footnote markers and text at the same page: Wouldn't it be better in this case to fill page 1 also with the footnote text of the following footnotes? In this way the pages would look much better. Is there a way (penalty?) to express how *urgent* footnote markers and text need to be forced to the same page? [NTG-context] columnsets and footnotes (better explained)
Hi Hans, maybe my problem was not clear enough. So please let me try it once more. The following example has main text in 2 columns and footnote text in 3 columns: \setupfootnotes[n=3] \starttext \startcolumns \dorecurse{10}{\input tufte\footnote{\input ward \relax}} \stopcolumns \stoptext But as I also have to use section titles that span the columns (without causing pagebreaks) I need to use columnsets (like they are used in the following example): \definecolumnset[two][n=2] \definecolumnsetspan[two][n=2] \setupfootnotes[n=1,width=\hsize] \starttext \startcolumnset[two] \input tufte\footnote{\input ward \relax} \startcolumnsetspan[two] \subsubsection{Spanning all columns without page break} \stopcolumnsetspan \dorecurse{10}{\input ward\footnote{\input tufte \relax}} \stopcolumnset \stoptext But I don't want the footnotes to be placed at the bottom of each column, I want them to be set in 3 columns at the bottom of the page (as shown in the columns example above). How can this be done? Steffen ___ ntg-context mailing list ntg-context@ntg.nl http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context

There is nothing more you can do from within ConTeXt. Check your PDF using the Document Settings-Fonts dialog in the Adobe Reader. OK, a while ago I've found the XeTeX page in Patrick's garden: http:// wiki.contextgarden.net/XeTeX Now it works with both (pdfetex and xetex). Works fine in Terminal: texexec --xtx text.tex But the next problem is TeXShop. How do I trigger ConTeXt-XeTeX in TeXShop? The only solution I've found is: 1) start the document with %program=xetex 2) in TeXShop's menu choose Typeset: ConTeXt and Personal Script This will typeset a ConTeXt file with XeTeX. In plain ConTeXt (for the 255 characters) we can use \showfont[...] and \showcharacters in order to know how to call the specific characters/glyphs. But what about OpenType? Peeking at the LaTeX side of XeTeX, I saw that they have created a packages called fontspec which seems to give better access to all (?) if these options. What about us?
