Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
It's a bit more complicated than that! My subwoofers are powered by a separate sony amp, this is connected to a home easy wall socket. I use Domoticz to switch everything. So when I turn my squeeze touch on, a plugin then tells Domoticz to turn a switch on which will send a command to turn the denon on and set a quick select setting and also turn the sony amp on at the wall. It needs to be clever enough that if the touch is left on but not playing and the TV or projector is on then when the touch turns itself off or we realise and turn it off then it doesn't turn the amps off because we could be listening to our tv/projectors through it.. Make sense? Also make sure you don't have the player set to 100% volume, even if you did the patch. I assume you have followed these instructions? https://code.google.com/p/denonavpcontrol/wiki/InstallationInstructions Lastly if it still does it you can turn the debug feature on for the plugin and restart lms. Since it has RS232 support Peter's Denon Serial (link in post above)might work -- Aesculus Chris Aesculus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Out off shameless self interest comes this plugin idea.. (I will push the donate button if this leads to something ) Make this plugin work with iTach devices for more universal control of not only denon devices. looking at the plugin makes me *think* that it's very close match not so extensive mods are needed I use these devices http://www.globalcache.com/products/itach/ip2slspecs/ They come as serial or ir , ethernet or wifi . API http://www.globalcache.com/downloads/#apis The Plugin then needs user inputs for . The network address of the Serial or ir device . The proper serial or ir codes to be sent for volume and power . Plugin can then send to correct device at the rigth port ( see api ) And add the special carriage return character needed \x0D for their serial adapter. Also the ir-device has an ir-blaster, so with this devices one could do a plugin that substitutes ir-blaster for Touch that does not support ir blasting you will then need this 3'rd party hardware, but it will probably work fine. I can not code myself out of paper bag otherwise i would have tried it myself. I actually think netcat would do on the linux servers, to send commands. Unfortunately netcat is not available on the Touch itself , otherwise this could have been a nice app idea, to have serial and ir blasting without a local server. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. If the major functions of turning the unit on/off, adjusting the volume and perhaps sending some setup commands to get the receiver on the right channel, audio format etc would that be enough? If we kept it minimal like above it might be achievable. My biggest question now would where to store the IR codes. Since there is only potentially 5 above (assuming that a receiver has the ability to reset its configuration with one command like the Denon does), this could probably be done via the Web Gui on the plugin. If it gets much more than that it would require a file of codes and that is very problematic to maintain/adjust. -- Aesculus Chris Aesculus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I use the rs232 for volume and power and actually i only need volume . meridian has a feature that standby can not be defeated by ir or rs232 so if the system is in standy it's needs a push on a front button (it is not really off ) but selecting a source is simple and by doing that it evokes your already preset dsp modes etc . When I use iRule i have macro functions to select the squeezebox on the meridian and send play signal to the squeebox by ir then i swap between iRule and iPeng to listen , but once i found a comfortable listening level and dsp mode it's mostly iPeng, but i built a complete ir remote for my squeezebox in iRule to . it may not be worth the work for you as i see that you have no personal use for this function. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. You may be able to use the old IR Blaster with such a setup. Take a look at http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/IRBlasterDirectLink If you upgraded to an SB Touch, bought a $10 USB-to-RS232 cable, and used something like the the 'socat utitilty' (http://www.dest-unreach.org/socat/) to turn the Touch into a TCP/Serial server, you should also be able to use my plugin, and probably Aesculus' too. The RS232 and native TCP/Ethernet interfaces that are used by DenonSerial and Denon AVP Control offer a huge advantage over the Denon IR interface, as the RS232 and Ethernet interfaces allow our plugins to set exact volumes and determine the Denon's volume. The IR interface is one-way (SBS, plugins, and applets can't determine how loud the amp already is) and crude -- all you can send are Volume Up and Volume Down commands (and some sort of Mute command -- serial/TCP allow discrete Mute On and Mute Off, but I don't know about Denon's IR codes). -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I don't know what features you need -- Chris' plugin is more advanced than mine -- but if you can stand only having power and volume sync, you might be able to use my DenonSerial for one amp and Chris' plugin for the other [I'd probably switch to Chris' plugin but I'm too lazy to add 1) my logic for respecting IR volume commands when my SB3 is off and 2) integrating with my custom MusicInfoScr saver that displays the volume in terms of the Denon's gain level]. DenonSerial should work fine with two different amps with two different IP addresses, though I haven't tested that. Myself, I just use it with a single amp that gets an IP address only by virtue of software running on an HTPC connected to its RS232 port. When I try to control the 3808 from iPeng, nothing happens. What can I do to debug (log files etc.)? Before you go to iPeng you have to make sure the SBS can see it and uses the plugin to control it. You can test this from the player or SBS web gui. Since you have the plugin defined for the 4308 are you adding another amp that another SB Player will see? You would need to configure the plugin that sends its output to the 3808 like you did with the 4308. If you just swapped the 3808 for the 4308 and kept the same IP address it should work. If you just changed the IP address then you must do so in the plugin definitions too for that player. After all this you will need to restart the SBS for it to take effect. BTW I have never tried running two amps from the same SBS before but I think someone else reported they had it working. It may require an update to the plugin. -- Aesculus Chris Aesculus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm sorry to be a noob about all of this - I'm fairly new to this and it can be a little daunting when trying to see the big picture and how all of this wires together. OK. Basically the plugin manages the AVR when you do various functions on the SB player. For example if you turn on the player it will turn on the AVR and if you adjust the volume on the player it really adjusts the AVR instead. Here is the tricks you may not have grasped. 1. On your AVR you need to go to the network settings and turn off power saver mode. That was what the prior poster mentioned in the PDF reading. If this is turned on you cannot turn on the AVR by the plugin. 2. Set your player to 100% volume if you want to bypass the analog to digital conversion. Your audio is streamed to the AVR via a SPDIF (cable or fiber) connection. The SBS does not support DNLA or some networked streaming. I added this statement to the plugin pages since it was not obvious. This plugin assumes that your Squeezebox player is connected to the AVP/AVR via a SPDIF connection to one of the Denon audio ports and that you have confirmed that audio can be heard from the player through the Denon to your speakers. -- Aesculus Chris Aesculus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
There is a delay built into the plugin when you change the volume. I think its about 1/2 but then the whole system my add another 1/2 or so. This is to keep the user from overrunning the Denon which has a pretty poor communications system in my opinion. The delay is there so if you rapidly change the volume the Denon does not have to chase you until you settle down a bit. Just give it a second until you decide to move it. I took it down to a 1/4 of a second once and that seemed to introduce problems where the Denon would get locked up. The 'snapping' or jumping of the volume when you turn on the system is the way the plugin tries to capture synching the volumes. I will have to look at it again to see if I can improve that. Basically you have to match the two so either the SB volume jumps to the Denon setting or the other way around. I favor the SB moving to the Denon setting because its safer than having the Denon adjust itself the to the SB. If the SB was mistakenly set to a high volume you could damage your equipment. -- Aesculus Chris Aesculus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

What else can I do to debug? thanks doubrown to your description, i had to say...i have exactly the same issue. i am using sb 7.51 and have installed denonavp plugin. i can select the plugin under each player settings, have configured it, and the denon ip is fixed to 192.168.7.148. denon is configured and it works with other apps on my iphone to control via ethernet the denon 4308 or over webgui. sbs runs on my NAS qnap ts409. unfortunately it has no effect on my denon when i start the sb touch (is there any issue that denon avp plugin runs on sb touch?, i tried also another sb classic, both has no effect on my denon 4308). also in peng 1.2.5 on my iphone i can`t see the denon options (yes audio option are on and configured for this player on the sbs webgui), but it is listed in peng on my iphone that the plugin is install and running. i love this plugin and it is very useful. great work. can anyone help me? best alexander -- daz daz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32776 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

If you don't see the Denon AVP/AVR Control under the player settings its probably because the option to Enable Audio Settings Menus was not checked during configuration. To solve this go into the Player Settings on the SBS menu (web) for the player you are using the plugin with. Select Plugins and then the Denon AVP/AVR Control. At the very bottom of the features you will see the option to Enable Audio Settings Menus. Make sure its checked and then save your settings. You will have to restart the SBS for the new setting to take effect. Now under iPeng when you select Player Settings you will see Denon AVP/AVR Control as an option. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
OK I installed the plugin v1.7 and configured it to control my Denon AVR-4308 at IP 192.168.1.69. I know I have network connectivity to the Denon as I can access its web GUI at 192.168.1.69. The plugin is enabled, but doesn't control the receiver. When I look in the Squeezeserver log, there is no reference of DenonAvpControl. I also have iPeng 1.2.5 on my iPhone and it works great with the SqueezeBox. Look at my code. I have debug statements everywhere that have to terminate in new lines :-) I am stuck with what Denon does. I did not invent the interface. Hmm, guess no great reason to switch, then. I'm wrestling the same problems with RS232 -- and for my gear I think I've ended up with pretty good default timing, including when I use a network serial port server (app) to make my amp accessible via TCP port 23. My favorite part is that it seems the amp queues up informational messages if the user uses the amp buttons or IR to make changes, so sometimes you'll issue a command that should result in 4 response lines but instead you'll get 10. My notes are in my code: Code: my $minTimeBetweenCommands = 0.1; # delay after getting a response (seconds) my $responseDelay = 0.15; # wait this long after command before expecting response (seconds) my $maxSerialWait = 0.25; # wait this long after serial command before giving up (seconds) # (also wait for ($numberOfResponseLinesReceived * $maxSerialAdditionalWait) # MV?, PW?, and SI? all tend to return in 0.10 secs # CV? often takes about 0.39 sec, but we don't issue that command my $maxSerialAdditionalWait = 0.09; # after one response, treat a delay this long as indication that response is done (seconds) # (worst I've seen with a 2310CI amp is about 0.05 sec) Denon's protocol is much better than some other's -- but maybe this is what Sean Adams should be working on now, a good network-capable amp with a stable, modern, multithreaded control interface. :-) -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
