What are you talking about? BBC iPlayer plugin always relays data through the LMS server, so any perceived improvement turning on/off proxied playback is either imagined or an accidental coincidence with some other change eg. broadband or BBC issues. Forcing an update on a user who has a out of date URL usually results in hand holding to understand what is happening. The alternative is to delete the repo. In the past when I deleted repos - I got squeals where some users do not want to migrate of fear of the unknown and their LMS flags an error which is also upsetting. Now I try to get them to move by changing the banner message into something vaguely apocalyptic until eventually there are very few downloads - then I delete. The repo-short.xml (and a few others such as the five 1.4.10 users and the five 1.6.0 users) users are hardcore remainers and so I let sleeping dogs lie - less work for me. > Does Sourceforge support redirects or symlinks? Yes but as slartibartfast points out - this issue affects many other URLs so it is not unusual behaviour in terms of LMS - not sure if that means it is not really a bug or not.. In fact it ties into the "More info" menu which has the same issue and as such is probably more significant. > Version 1.6.5, which I understand to be the latest. Cross linking protocol handlers is dangerous as "iplayer://" can call "dash:// " and "dash://" can be setup to play independent of "iplayer://" (which I don't support but some users do it anyway) - there is too much opportunity for circular behaviour and crashes. The "dash" metadata handler will need to check the originating URL which caused the dash url to be used (e.g. playlist). bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version
I notice that when a programme is initially added to the playlist, more metadata is available for it than when it is playing. For example, in the Logitech Media Server web interface, clicking on the currently playing iPlayer programme in the right hand pane causes it to appear in the left hand pane with the programme artwork replaced by LMSs generic radio mast icon. This appears to be because, when a programme plays, the handler switches from Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer to Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH, and the latter class lacks a getMetadataFor() method. Adding the following to DASH.pm seems like a step in the right direction: Code: sub getMetadataFor { my ($class, $client, $url) = @_; my $metadata = Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor(@_); $metadata->{'icon'} //= $class->getIcon($url); $metadata->{'cover'} //= $metadata->{'icon'}; return $metadata; } mavit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10203 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Cancellation often happens with "normal" MP3/AAC http streams is that if a stream is paused - TCP and/or host server will break the connection - this behaviour can be dependent service operator. However with chunked http over http 1.1 - this doesn't happen as TCP connection doesn't have to persist. With DASH, the plugin tracks the chunks played and so if a stream is paused and resumed - it will request the next chunk. For live stream these are timestamped and so plugin will request a chunk that is now no longer valid (currently more than 3 hrs old). With "Listn Again" chunk are sequentlially numbered and playback could resume. Your log seems to indicates that playback was paused at 9:30pm on 2nd Aug and resumed at about 9:25am the following day 3rd Aug - does that seem reasonable ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I have the players set to stop a stream at power off though I am not sure how this applies to the Touch as I don't use a power button and maybe only pause it. I have actually recently started using the Alexa app again and stopping playback on the Touch using that. Do I remember correctly that if iPlayer is paused for more than a certain time then the delay introduced is cancelled? If it is LMS specific - then the only setting I can think of would be the WebUI Setting/Advanced/Network Radio Station Timeout - it could be too small (this is the time LMS waits for a reply to the http/GET for the BBC xml URL) . The test is to etst whether the system which runs LMS can fetch the URL without timeout. If it can then the problem is within LMS, if it cannot then theproblem is with your server and local network setup. An alternative is to use a command line interface on server (e.g. telnet, ssh) which runs the LMS and then use wget (saves to a file) or curl (puts URL on output) e.g. wget http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/radio2.xml curl http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/radio2.xml bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

IIRC The chromecast plugin acts as player which has an infinite buffer it tries to grab as much data as possible - in early days this caused problems with BBCiplayer livestreams so something had to be introduced to manage the flow better. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

More detailed info please - "long distance" doesn't cut it ! What is a long distance colleague ? Do they use a satellite link ? Are they non UK but using a VPN to become UK ? The error below means that BBC replied with a requested chunk after 2292 seconds - 38 minutes !! what is going on Code: Plugins::BBCiPlayer:ASH::__ANON__ (779) Chunk fetch status 200 Long chunk fetch time 2292 800 With a valid chunk being returned after 38 minutes - I think the plugin gets confused - it looks like user has paused so chunks being played are 38 minutes old but none of the other plugin variables match the expected delay. Code: [18-01-10 13:57:24.3098] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (567) Invalid estimated delay -14 streamtime=1515610675 The delay may be partially due to the system (e.g. XP system with slow single core processor, small memeory with a lot of system swapping) Quick test would be to set "delay to start live stream" to 5 min. I know it has been suggested and I also laid out some of the consequences which land at my door. 1. If you delete the 1.3 from the current - AFAICT at next startup the user current 1.3 BBCiPlayer (which if patched will be providing Listen again and live) will be automatically removed and disappear. 2. if an update is done - some users may not be supported. If a user is using 1.3 then are likely to be using LMS 7.7.* which I don't support 3. If an update is done to say 1.5 , then there may be conflicting update notices between default plugin and users who have steadfastly remained on 1.4 (12 download in last week) Either way there may be a burst of frustrated users wondering why their beloved BBC has broken and why was it done and how to fix it. The present situation means there is only the occasional user with a problem. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

V1.3.1alpha3 of the BBCiPlayer plugin is years out of date and is not the subject of this thread. The first page of the thread summarises the situation. There is another thread tells you how to patch the 1.3 version into sort of working order if you really need to run the 1.3 version of the plugin. This thread is about a test version successor to that plugin - V1.5.* and also an update to BBCiPlayerExtra (which has its own thread) To install the 1.5.* version - follow the instruction on the first page adding the new repo to the plugins tab. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

File Format - Stream Format - Decoder AAC - AAC - Native - FLAC - faad/flac - MP3 - disabled - PCM - faad - NB, Soma pls files work when posted in the Tune In URL box, e.g. https://somafm.com/dronezone130.pls, and play AAC. Clicking on any one show (be it under the main listing or under one of the 7 days) just bring up the artwork plus the programme text. The line below the text which would give the stream rate and type just shows "0" (a zero). The timer bar just shows 0.00 on the left and 0.00 on the right. Proxied streaming does nothing with BBCiPlayer - only with plain http /MP3, http/wma or http/aac streams. First tets transcoding oif AAC on your system: Can you play ordinary http/AAC stream such as http://www.somafm.com/illstreet64.pls ? If there is no problems then As you are using Windows - increase the "live delay" setting to say 2 minutes. What is the spec of your Windows systems. That is LMS plugin interaction as no audio chunks and some metadata are available (unlike a file or a http/MP3 stream) when play is pressed. When Play is pressed LMS starts the playtime display but plugin doesn't know all the details of the stream (e.g. duration) until it has fetched MPD etc. nor has any audio chunks been retrieved. Once MPD and few audio chunks have been received and then sent to player the plugin updates metadata etc (which is after play has been pressed) LMS then updates all the displayed info. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
