Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What version do I actually have running ?
@mherger, haven't heard from you since February. LMS version 8.2.0 has been running very stable in my container environment since, and I'm very pleased with it. After all, the DB contains some 10k albums with more than 130k tracks. Still it is surprisingly responsive and handles multiroom sync perfect between all kind of playback devices that I have. But I often get notifications about new fixes. It must have been a considerable collection by now. Still, no signs of an 8.3 (or even 8.2.1) release? I feel I'm missing out on new features and bug fixes ? (Although I'm not plagued by any) Just curious. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What version do I actually have running ?
Every now and then, LMS pops a message in the lower left part of my screen where it says that a new version is available and that LMS needs to restart - and so I do, every time, and I have - for years. Then, one day I stumbled across some place on the net that said LMS had been release in v8.0 Since I was running v7.9 I began to search how to upgrade my Docker Container, and finally I found the -lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver- container, and a fresh install was made with that. Happy Happy. Then - as days has gone by, I have received a couple more update notifications (as mentioned above) and I have happily restarted my LMS, and the message was gone. So I have been under the impression that my LMS container was updated. Then I read that since my jump to v8.0 a few additional versions has been released and LMS is now at v8.1 So I launch the setting page and check my Information Tab, expecting to see that I too had been liftet to 8.1 since I have updated every time I had a notification about it. But to my big surprise, it says the I am still at v8.0 ??? 32985 When I search Docker HUB, it tells me that there is indeed a v8.1 available. The easiest way to move LMS freely between different HW platforms, is to run it Docker. Then it is abstracted completely from whatever HW you have, and it can be moved easily. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Querying/cleaning up LMS library
Sorry to butt in I run LMS 7.9 in Docker on a QNAP NAS and I have approx 140k MP3 files. I too decided to clean out all tags, remove unnecessary tags, perform volume leveling, delete all APE tagging etc. etc. After a lot of trial and error, using MediaMonkey, ID3Tag and many others, I ended up with Foobar2000. It is less user friendly at times, but the gain is its extreme power, speed and ability to perform on huge libraries. Most basic commands are readily available from the default UI, and with a bit of scripting knowledge, you can make it do almost anything for you. Give it a try. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
Sorry, I didn't realize you were one and the same person :-) My bad... Anyway, installing LMS in CS is pretty straight forward if you carefully follow my guide. However - the guide assumes that you have installed CS itself correctly. I suspect that you may have made some mistakes during installation of CS. Especially you need to tell CS correctly where to store containers and where to find shared folders, during installation of CS itself. Have you checked that? Also, what you can do, is to enter into the container using SSH (my guide tells you how to do that), then - from within the container itself - try to browse the folder tree and see if you can find your own music. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
OMG - what are you all trying to do to this poor fellow?!? 1. You can NOT install any version of LMS natively under QTS 4.3.x anymore! LMS is a 32-bit app and QTS no longer supports that after 4.3.x 2. If you want to run LMS 7.9.x under a previous version of QTS, you ca - but it is very difficult because the tarball is supposed to be loaded temporarily in the /tmp folder which resides by default in flash. The 7.9.x tar balls are too big so the flash overflows. Therefore you have to temporarily move the /tmp folder to your HDD. That is no easy task. 3. If you want to run LMS under QTS 4.3.x you need to use Container Station. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Cover art
Cover art should preferably be JPG 500x500 and you get the best result if you store it in the ID3tag of each track and not at all in the folder. When stored inside the ID3 tag, the album art will show up correctly on all types of players with the ability to display graphics. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Identical tagging showed differently
LMS 7.9.0 - 1488878280 I noticed that on a compilation album where all songs are tagged identically; The Album Artist field = *Various Artists* while the Artist Name field = the actual name of the artist on all tracks. However, some of the songs are displayed just as *Various Artists* during playback, while others are displayed correctly with the name of the artist (See screen shot below). 22631 I have inspected the metadata tags in depth using both MediaMonkey and Foobar. There is no difference between them. This erroneous display of artist name seems to be client independent as it shows up exactly the same way in other clients I have tested (Squeezeplay, Squeeze Ctrl, etc). So this is obviously an LMS issue. This album has 40 tracks. 19 of them are displayed incorrectly. There is nothing peculiar with those tracks. No funny characters or double names, extra spaces or anything as far as I could find. Any ideas, anyone? +---+ |Filename: Capture.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=22631| +---+ QNAP TS-453Mini 4x3TB RAID5 QTS 4.2.4 LMS 7.9.0 running in Docker Madsonic 6.2 running in Docker Plex running in Docker QNAP HS-251 2x2TB RAID0, QTS 4.2.4 Kodi 16.1 Jarvis QNAP TS-119 1TB Single, QTS 4.2.4 Retired oyvindo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19302 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107351 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I'm not so sure I can stand by that statement anymore. I used the exported container to "go back" and as I discovered, it doesn't restore everything to a defined state during import. I'm now having a hefty discussion with QNAP over this, and @Kev is also assisting me in the research. So please do not assume that this is reliable information from my side. What I know now, is that with all the different version I've tried after it first began (last week), the flooding begins as soon as I log into SN. I was hoping @DJanGo's advice on SLIMOPTIONS=" --nomysqueezebox" would help, but somehow it didn't - or I did something wrong. Many thanks to both of you for helping me. Logging on directly to SN is no problem. Please also recall that I've been ok using LMS in docker for almost a year. This began after the most recent update of LMS. I'm not thereby saying that I think there is something wrong with Michael's work. For me, this is just the point in time that I recall. I always also update and upgrade the container simultaneously, so there may be a combination of events. I'll try Michael's log suggestions today and get back. Oh, and Kevin - tanks for your effort to try to solve the docker export / import issue. I'm not sure how smart it is to maintain two such different subjects in the same thread. Maybe we should move that issue to the QNAP Forum? Hi Michael, I removed (deleted) the container completely, reloaded the master image 7.9.0-1463778102 and choose 'Skip' on the registration page. So far so good. Then I added the plugins that I use and removed many of those that I don't use. So far so good. Then I made a total rescan of my library, and allowed it to play on various players for a long time. So far so good. Then I upgraded the container (apt-get update, upgrade and autoremove) and restarted it. So far so good. Again I let it play song for several hours, and today I upgraded to 7.9.0-1484464959. So far so good. :) I have restarted the container a couple of times, playing new songs. So far so good. Then, after a while, the following showed up in the log: Code: [17-01-22 16:26:14.7094] Slim::Control::XMLBrowser::_cliQuery_error (1676) Error: While retrieving [http://www.mysqueezebox.com/api/myapps/v1/opml]: [A mysqueezebox.com account is required for this service. Oh, I agree. The Docker solution is superb. I too have a "retired" TS-119 still running and with LMS installed, but not running anymore. My favorite combination though is the Philippe's Castbridge plugin which I use with different ChromeCast devices I have around the house. The sound quality from a ChromeCast Audio is surprisingly good. What I am struggling with now, is how to make a run-time snapshot of docker containers for backup. Hi Michael, thanks for your support and your never ending effort to keep the community alive :-) I have now deleted this instance of LMS completely, and gone back to a previous release. So far, the problem is gone. That's why I (in the first place) assumed that some bug had crept into your latest release. My plan now, is to carefully upgrade until I get back on the latest release, to see if it begins again reporting SN errors. I'll keep you posted, but it may take some days as I am kind of busy at work these days. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Updated to 7.9.0 - 1484464959 @ Sun Jan 15 and now the log is flooded....
I updated my LMS from LMS-7.9.0-1484126560 to 7.9.0 - 1484464959 and now my log is flooded with the following error messages every 3 seconds: Code: [17-01-17 18:57:49.0934] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::Players::_players_error (359) Unable to get players from SN: 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable, retrying in 950400 seconds I have checked the username and password to SqueezeNetwork, and it is correct. I also tried to disable the mysqueezebox.com Integration, but no avail. Then I downgraded to 7.9.0-1484126560 again, and the problem is gone. Upgrading again to 7.9.0-1484464959 and the problem returns. This leads me to think that there's some bug in 7.9.0 - 1484464959. Apart from the above, LMS works perfect, and plays on all my players, but this keeps my server from spin-down as LMS writes to the log constantly. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can the list of players be deleted?
Thanks guys for answering and helping. I found the reason to be software players (squeezeLite) on two different machines which was running in background and was not shut down properly, even though the foreground app had terminated. Rebooting these machines eventually also made the players disappear from the player list. One was XSqueeze on a KODI server and the other was SqueezePlay on a Windows 10 machine. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing artwork/artist index when casting to UPnP players
Hi all, I have an issue getting LMS to pass on artist and albumart info properly to UPnP players (renderers). All tracks (MP3) play ok, and all controls work ok (volume/pause/play), but there is no albumart and it says: no artist. This problem is persistent no matter which UPnP player I try (I have tried many, incl. Kodi, BubbleUPnP etc.) on different clients (iOS, Android, Linux). There are no problems when playing to SqueezeLite players or genuine Logitech HW squeezeboxes. My LMS log shows the following error message each time I attempt to play through UPnP, but never when I play through a regular player: sq_get_metadata:474 [0x812dfd0]: missing index Below is a visual of the problem: 19981 Anyone with some good ideas what to look for? +---+ |Filename: Screenshot_LMS-2-Kodi.png| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19981| +---+ oyvindo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19302 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105221 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Excellent! :o But hear this; I do not consider myself the average "dummy", but all too often I find that forum contributors take for granted that all people already know the obvious (which is rarely the case). So taking the extra time to explain just a little bit more often proves to be the difference between success and failure for the rest of us. :) It also seems to me that the "update Plug-ins automatically" also has to be tagged (?). I was unable to activate CastBridge without it. But now it works. Again, thanks to yourself, Philippe and Michael (Who I belive is not doing this on behalf of Logitech, but just out the good from his own heart - am I right?) oyvindo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19302 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103131 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Accessing LMS from Windows Media Player
I tried accessing LMS through WMP, but perhaps because my LMS is on a NAS and because my WMP client is connected to the NAS over WLAN, the result was that WMP slowed down to a crawl and spent hours trying to build its library before it finally gave up with a library that was perhaps just 25% filled, and most of it incorrect. All in all a very sad experience. WMP is definitely not able to handle a remote library with 100k+ tracks. So if you are like me, I recommend 'Muso ' (http://klarita.net/muso.html)instead of WMP. oyvindo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19302 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105155 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
