Re: [OSM-talk-be] Champs Libres OSM - cartopartie salon des mandataires (Julien Fastre)
Hi, Thanks for all yours answers. This week has been full of activities, I am sorry to answer so late. We had good contacts at the Salon des mandataires, but it does not seem that a commune will plan a cartoparty yet. We had discussion witch cooptic and other associations there, and it seems obvious that it might be easier to talk directly with those associations (people who walk, protection de la nature/milieuvereniging, ...). They have the volunteers, they have activities : they might be plan a cartoparty if they think about that... Let's speak to them ! @Julien Minet : I think your approach of speaking with ADL (Agence de développement local), GAL (Groupe d'action local) is a good idea! We had a thought that it might be interesting for OpenStreetMap Belgium to have his own stand there. A lot of political people are coming. They visit the stand of IGN/NGI, ESRI Belux, ... geographical information have a central place in municipalities. So, at the end of the year 2014, we might think about OSM-be to have a stand at the salon des mandataires 2015. Maybe (I hope) that others companies could sponsorise osm-be :-) ! Marc Ducobu and I started slowly our company mid-2013. We are a cooperative, with a social purpose. What's our purpose ? Support Free Software ! We provide service and help for association, entreprise, and public autorities around free software. Until now, we are mainly proposing open source developments. We have a speciality: software who use/need geographical information. We use OpenStreetMap for our projects. More info here : http://www.champs-libres.coop. We are thinking about a project to make speak about us, but also about OpenStreetMap : we are planning to propose municipalities to organize a cartoparty and offer them a PDF map of their territory (with osm data). We will have a stand at the salon des mandataires on February 13 14 (http://www.mandataires.be/) to convince local councils to offer help for a cartoparty. If they do so, we will, in the following month of the cartoparty, offer them a mapnik style to produce PDF with OSM data, adapted to their municipality and for printing (printing screen map does not render so well). Our goal: promote OSM and let know the project's advantage for municipality, and, also, offer an immediate follow-up to a cartoparty. So, - are you interested in giving help to a cartoparty in Wallonia, during a week-end in April / May / June / July ? - do you have some ideas, positive or negative, about our project ? Champs Libres will be very happy to help the community. In August 2013, I was planning about offering a WMS [1] with aerial images on Brussels Regio (10cm resolution, something like that, but the images are in MrSid, you must compile GDAL with the MrSid SDK and uncompressed it to have a geotiff usable in JOSM, not very easy for beginners). Le 11/02/2014 22:29, Rob Nickerson a écrit : Some ideas: 1. Tools to compare OSM data against the available external data set. One recent blog post on this by SK53 http://sk53-osm.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/looking-for-footpaths-in-hickling-notts.html 2. We need to be asking for not just full datasets but also regular change-sets. If we cannot get a change-set from the data supplier then we need to be keeping a copy of any imported data and creating comparison tools between the original imported data and the updated data from that government/organisation. 3. More data conflation tools. Not all data can be imported in bulk. We need to look at developing more tools to allow for piecemeal imports from the local community. For example the Android app Vespucci *could* be extended/forked to allow the following work flow: 3a. A new import dataset is added to a holding database. 3b. On the ground mappers can can then view this database on the ground using Vespucci on their tablet/phone 3c. For each element they mark it as verified or incorrect, and if necessary change the tags or geometry using the tools already built into Vespucci. At this stage Vespucci has not shown any other OSM data, just the holding database layer. This makes it easier to use in areas of high data density. 3d. If the data is just nodes then Vespucci searches for potential matches in the OSM data. Is one is found the user is asked how to merge the two. If not found then the node is imported into OSM. 3e. For ways the user can either work with Vespucci to merge/import the data, or they can log in when back home using JOSM or ID and work with these editing tools to merge the verified data from the holding database. Osmose QA tool do this job. Look at this, last tow section at menu. http://osmose.openstreetmap.fr/fr/map/?zoom=6item=level=1,2,3 Mainly items are in France. Btw, the French region of Aquitaine (country around Bordeaux), have funded work to integrate into osmose more OpenData on this territory, I will do this in march. For addresse integration we have also a specific tool : http://addr.openstreetmap.fr/ Osmose can be a base work for this thematic. The OpenData part of Osmose is done as generic, so add new opendata set is simple. Btw, if you interested in add OpenData set to Osmose for integration or validation/gardeange of already integrated data, just ask. [OSM-talk] Potlatch deprecation
Hello everyone, I was wondering when is it that Potlatch will be considered officially deprecated (so, taken out of the main website). I know that the editor has its pros (Flash is sometimes faster than iD's JavaScript, and some users certainly prefer Potlatch's menu organization), and I definitely appreciate the role it has played in OSM previously, but some of its cons make map maintenance an unnecessary pain. My main issue is lack of proper support to relations (not displayed and handled improperly on basic operations, such as when merging and spliting way members, and not going to be fixed AFAIK). Six months ago when I first posted the problem below, I was seeing problematic changesets in my city every now and then, but now, as the Brazilian community has grown quite a lot, I'm hearing of similar problems popping up in many other cities. Let me show you the case of these 4 turn restriction relations: http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/20391254 They have been deleted by this changeset: http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3490365 The user didn't know he was destroying data because Potlatch neither displays turn restrictions nor issues a warning when merging ways referenced by relations. Osmose QA tool do this job. Perhaps I am not aware of everything that Osmose can do, but my basic understanding is that it provides an in browser view of errors already in OSM. What I was trying to propose in (1) and (2) was a really slick, really simple tool that allows the user to load in two datasets (e.g. original and updated file from a government department, or a government file and an OSM extract) and it shows you the big differences in a really simple intuitive way. For (3) I am proposing a mobile friendly way of getting people out on the ground to verify data provided by a government and load it in to OSM (either there and then via mobile, or back at home on their computer). Happy to do some mock-ups if you like, but can't help much with (3). Longer term I *might* be able to tackle 1 and 2 but it would take me ages to get to grips with it all. Re: [Talk-br] Como etiquetar Churrascarias no Brasil?
Pode lhe interessar o plugin public_transport to JOSM. Cara, ficou ótima a proposta.
Existe uma outra tag, postal_code, que segundo o wiki serviria para ruas, acho que vale à pena testar pra ver como o Nominatim se comporta: For streets with the same postcode on both sides of the way this postal_code=* is still valid and widely used. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:postal_code 2014-02-14 10:41 GMT-02:00 wille wi...@wille.blog.br: Sempre usei addr:housename com o nome do prédio em que o POI está localizado.
Re: [Talk-it] Fwd: [Direttivo] Terlizzi e OpenStreetMap

;) - Ciao, Aury -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/Fwd-Direttivo-Terlizzi-e-OpenStreetMap-tp5796299p5796319.html Sent from the Italy General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it ___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

- Ciao, Aury -- View this message in context: http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/Fwd-Direttivo-Terlizzi-e-OpenStreetMap-tp5796299p5796330.html Sent from the Italy General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

/Joakim On 14 feb 2014, at 14:03, Joakim Lindbom joakim.lind...@gmail.com wrote: Done!
Ep! He posat 3 propostes d'ubicació: Barcelona, Ordal i Gualba.
Hey all, Figured I look, for the codes mentioned on the GNS site and save others the trouble. ADM 1 Codes First-order administrative division. An administrative area directly subordinate to the pertinent governing authority. CC1 Country code. CA being Canada. DSG Feature designation code. Comprised of two to six character code to identify what type of feature this is. In this case, PPL means Populated Place. FC Feature Classification. Designed to allow similar features in GNS to be grouped together and searched for. JOG Joint Operations Graphic Reference. This is a specification determined by the US Department if Defense to ensure that graphical representations of the feature (maps) treat the item in the same manner. MGRS An alpha-numeric system of expressing UTM/UPS coordinates. UFI Unique Feature Identifier UNI Unique Name Identifier RC Region Font Code. FOr determining the equivalent characters used in GNS sorts rendered in Roman Script. 1 means Americas and Western Europe. n:xx:NT=N NT is the Name Type and N means Approved. The rest mentioned are self-explanatory. Very few of these codes appear to hold any meaning for the OSM database as it sorts the data based on it's own tagging references. As such, they should probably all or almost all be removed from OSM. Oops. Meant to send this to everyone. [Talk-ca] CanVec updates without a version bump
I was having a look at New Westminster in tile 092G02.1.1, and I noticed that there are differences between CanVec 10.0 which I downloaded when it came out and what I just downloaded from the CanVec webpage, which is also labeled CanVec 10.0 Addresses have been added, and with them, errors introduced. Although I'm not opposed to adding addresses, adding a new feature like this obviously needs discussion and review, and I checked imports@ and it doesn't look like this happened. Who's our contact at NRCan these days? We need to make sure that the scope of what's getting imported is clear and that additions get properly discussed.

Ja bych to addr:country=CZ daval vsude, protoze to treba zjednodusi vyhledavani bodu zajmu v prihranici. To, kam patří obyvatelé RUIAN nezohledňuje. Maybe highways should be marked as impassable? The Highways Agency etc are producing such lists. We would need to revisit these areas to remove it as they subside but this information is invaluable to many people, agencies, charities, gov departments etc. There's also a historical benefit having areas mapped as having previously flooded, either as live ways tagged accordingly or as old deleted ways that nevertheless are still accessible. If the HOT team had been activated for this then we would be doing this sort of thing just as has been done in many other parts of the World. I'm beginning to think we are not stepping up to provide this unique mapping requirement that no other mapping service is providing. Hennepin too. The MetroGIS Policy Board passed a recommendation for all of the 7 counties to do so. Hennepin and Ramsey were the first to vote. Give them a little time and I expect to see clear license terms and convenient download. When we are done with the MN Geospatial commons, much of the data will hopefully be there with at least one open data format. I give MetroGIS and the counties a lot of credit for reevaluating their policies and business models and changing. Re: [Talk-us] Telenav giving away iPad Mini or Galaxy Note to Editor with the Most Edits Made By March 10

However, is there a way to report script kiddies who are running a script to just rack up points that aren't doing anything to help out OSM and just want to win the prize? Should I just report them to the DWG, especially since he hasn't talked to talk-us about running the script? The reason I'm asking is because I've already spotted one of these type of users who is just running a script that is just changing tags from one to another type to rack up the edits. Heck, he's also somehow editing some nodes just to make them his without doing anything to them (no idea how he's doing that!). It looks like he's looking at recent change sets of other mappers. Then he looks for a tiger or gnis tag to change into incomplete an addr:* like so http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3506764/history. Perhaps Telenav needs to refine the contest rules? I am thinking that adding modification of existing data to contest rules has the unintended consequences of abuse like these edits. Otherwise, Telenav's good idea could become a black eye on everything that the company is trying to do to enhance their support of the community. ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
