After the second notification I quitted restarted the program and have just received the third notification. So I'd say it works in the latest beta version. I have not read the history of fixes since v3 release to verify if it was broken and has been fixed since the v3 release version of Sept 1st (the beta.19 is from Sept 27th). I don't know of a release date, but given the large number of fixes that have been made since the v3 release I'd dare say that an updated release version is only days ahead, but don't nail me down on that. :-) -- Best regards, Alexander (http://www.neurowerx.de - ICQ 238153981) using v3.0.0.19 on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 DP2: Heaven by Pete Namlook from 'Silence 2' Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hi Chris! That is correct. The .cnt contains the help file's table of contents. The .gid file contains the index used when searching. I belive that both can be safely deleted. No good idea to delete the .cnt as you will lose your content. The GID file is autogenerated and normally hidden. Re: Security newby and yellow circles
Hi Cristina You wrote: Some of the messages I receive have a yellow circle with a checkmark. What does that mean exactly? Does it have anything to do with securely signing your messages? How do I do that? That little yellow circle with a checkmark indicates that the message has been signed using either S/MIME or PGP/MIME. To do this, you'd have to have PGP or GnuPG installed and working, and then enable TB! support for them. You can then sign using the Privacy settings in the editor. For PGP/GnuPG, you'd have to create a set of keys to sign with. For S/MIME, you'll need to get one created for you through one of the certificate authorities. -- Allie Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

It has to do with digitally signing your message and thus showing that you sent the message and that it wasn't tampered with on the way to the recipient. CR How do I do that? You get a certificate by Thawte (or some others) or you create a PGP key (GPG is compatible with that) and you sign your message. Both work with a public and a private key. You sign with the private key and the signature is checked with the public key. The main differences between the two types are that with certificates you send the public part along with every signed message and with PGP the public keys can be requested from the owner or from a key-server. With certificates the signing is done by the mail client, with PGP it's done with that PGP/GPG variety that you've got installed. Messages signed with a certificate are substantially bigger than the same message PGP signed. With PGP you've got two ways of signing messages, you can either sign in the text (that's when you find messages starting with -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 and ending with some odd codes) or with the signature as attachment, the latter looks a lot better, but unfortunately not all mail clients support PGP/MIME (TB does support it) Most signed messages on this list are PGP signed, it's been quite a while that I've seen a MIME signed message and that's not only on this list, but that might just be the kind people I hang around with. -- Groetjes, Roelof The Bat! 3.0.0.19 Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 1 pop3 account, server on LAN Disclaimer: Any opinion stated in this message is not necessarily shared by my budgies or rabbits. pgpkziXU9JiqN.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Mail filtering on IMAP folders?
Hello everyone, I posted a message earlier about mail filtering on IMAP folders. I am using The Bat! 3 and it seem as the mail filters only activate if I click on the Inbox folder. The mail is still received as normally and I get a new mail icon in the system tray. The problem is the filters which do not activate unless I click on the Inbox folder. When I do I can see messages moved to Trash and other folders. What can be the problem and how do I get around this? TheBat! = Options = Prefences = Antispam DG [x] Mark stored junk mail as read. DG 2. TheBat! = Account = Sorting Office/Filters = Read messages DG Set up your filter up in the Read messages folder. OK, this works, but it beats me why the method using Incoming mail doesn't work as expected (or my expectations are wrong). But, as someone said, NFS doesn't quite work. Using this method, I've made a filter which will mark all read messages (in JUNK folder with my email as recipient) as unread. But it worked yesteday, and today it isn't working... :) BTW, what's the purpose of Source folder in filter conditions? The Source folder is fixed as the Inbox for Incoming mail filters. The Source folder is fixed as the Outbox for Outgoing mail filters. The Source folder for Replied and Read filters is selectable. A selectable Source folder allows messages, that already have been filtered and moved to any folder, to be filtered again by a Replied filter or a Read filter. The Replied or Read filtering becomes more efficient (faster), because only messages that already have been recognized by other filters will be filtered again. Hello Michael, On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 you wrote in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] MA Anyway, if you get a chance to download PGP 8.1, you can update your MA current version that way. Did it as soon as it came out. MA And BTW, I have been using PGPDisk for many years also. It's a useful little programme as I back up all my files to a USB drive. -- Regards, Richard | Using The Bat! 3.0.0.19 SpamPal | Windows XP (build 2600), version 5.1 Service Pack 2 pgpW4YQyAicRI.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
