How to View new messages two computers with TB! ?
So I have two computers. I have TB! on both. Both access the exact same IMAP Folder away on some remote server. On either instance of TB!, A filter examines the Inbox, then filters a message to one of several Common Folders. However, it seems that if one or the other computer is off, then any new messages will not appear on it. It seems the new messages went to the other computer. Furthermore it seems, that some messages get swept up by one computer and when the other checks, it doesn't get the aforementioned, previously collected emails, but it steals whatever is currently new. Make sense they way I wrote it? I previously thought IMAP stayed up on the servers and we drew frm it. That is unless I set the folders on the IMAP server to some limit in time/number-of, or some such. So is there a TB! setting I should attend to? Need serious help with upgrade to B-Pro 6.2.2
I had version 5.9 on one computer a 5.8 on the other. Bought (without the discount cuz I didn't see it available) 6.2 installed it on both Win7-64 bit computers. Now all email accounts think they are POP3 when they are , or were, IMAP4 . I can not D/L emails from 1and1 nor GMX. The fail message is related to TLS refuses ... and/or another version of failure is Disconnected. If I try to send an email, the message is not sent and the log show See log for details. That's funny an circular logic but does not help me guess what's wrong. If I try to make repairs to any email account, TB-Pro shows the email account as POP3 no matter what I try. Thus, the new versions seemed to have converted all accounts to POP3. So I was forced to delete all accounts and make new ones. At that point, I elected to not delete the files and folder. This as incorrect choice as TBP still made the new account POP3 and that was unchangeable as long as the previous files and folders where there. I had no choice but to delete them in order to be able to re-create IMAP4. AND, it seems then that all files containing the previous emails were destroyed. O how to I set up an imap4 for 1and1. How do I set up a POP3 for GMX? I have tried all variations of what each site publishes for Port numbers. They both claim SSL and there's no way I can see to make that choice in TBP. if I am able once again to get and send email, what is the way to re-introduce any Restored Versions of past folders from all the email accounts? I have been using TB for over ten ears. This us the one and only time an upgrade has brought my systems to a standstill. I will guess that the root of the problem is mine. But I can't for the life of me guess where I messed up two computers on one upgrade. -- Regards, Robert Current version is 6.1.8 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Troubles with Christmas Addition
I uninstalled 5.4 and then installed 6.1.8.0 (after purchasing) I have so many issues, mostly with imap, that I can't recall them well. I have messages in the inbox's that refuse to go away after deletion. This even though the settings all indicate to move-to-trash. If i do a delete, say in the Inbox, The message list shows it is gone but the account list still shows an unread message. Anything which might invoke imap folder maintenance will stall and I must cancel the task; sometimes mans kill the program in task manager. I am running 5.4 on this computer. The settings appear to be the same as those pn the Christmas version. That one is pn the other computer. I am writing from the 5.4, I believe, as it's too much trouble to work in the 6.1 version. O'd guess this is all a factor of my-bad. It's just that I can discover what is set wrong. Message List expansion while scrolling through
Hello TBUDL, I hope I have the terms/layout-terms correct. The screen-layout I use is to have Tree vertically on left. On right I have, on top, the message-list which goes with whichever Folder is high-lighted in the Tree. Then, also on the right, under the message-list, is whichever message that is highlighted above in the message-list. So, I begin by touching a message in the message list. I may hesitate on that line a moment to see something. So, if I hover on the message-list too long, first a small pop-up appears with Text from the selected(hover)message in message-list. If I wait further then the entire message is displayed and obscures the message-list where I was desiring to read the line shown in the message-list (name/date/subject). If I really wanted to read some of it, I just press to stick the cursor on that message-list-line and I therefore can read the message below. Since I am all plain-text, I am not so concerned about HTML-Trojans and evil things rearing their heads. So, my question then is how do I stop TB from doing the message-text pop-up from a scroll/hover on the message-list pane? thanks -- Best regards, Robert Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I made a test; subject contains xyzzy then KILL. but, this is seemingly useless in that the offending message remains on server (forever) also noted, as said before, the statistics tab never indicates if the filter was tried. All remains a zero. I was able to see that (using dispatcher window) that the Read became unchecked. And as I said, that particular test message is still on my server having been neither D/L'd not deleted by the dispatcher. However, I tried that last week with this 3.80 version and got the system so screwed up I had to revert to a previous edition as well as do a system restore. Filter Help
I went around this a couple weeks ago and have been playing with the suggestions since then. They do not work. Given: Spam Filter imbedded in Firewall/AV/Spam commercial software detects what it thinks is spam and adds an 'X-found-spam' to the headers. Mailing Lists can set the To: field to either your personal email address or to the Group List email address The From address can be the original poster or the List address There is usually a Reply To containing the List address or the Reply-to is at least the original sender if not a list. The tag of 'spam' could be a false positive IF you already know the sender Problem: Without the ability to check the header field 'Reply-To' matching it to a known AB entry I can not isolate the tagged email as truly spam. Because: AB Contains Sender could be unknown user of known email list AB Contains First Recipient Spammer sends spam-email straight to ME. I am in AB as known Reply-To can not contain my email address FROM the Spammer (usually) The filtered email, containing the X-Header with the word spam is then either truly tagged as spam and handled by THAT filter or it is handled by the False-Positive action and forwards to the software programmers out of courtesy so they can adjust their software accordingly. Help please. Or admit we need to be able to examine AB against Reply-To field and it's variants. -- Regards, Robert D. :flag-us-ky: _ The Bat! I am writing this to the general users area becasue I have reverted all the way back to 3 63 08 to try and find why my View Mode is gone. An InBox Filter for ReplyTo in AB
If my antispam reader misidentifies a TBUDL email as spam, then I need an additional filter pragma . So, I want to compare the reply-to: and see if THAT is in my Good-Guys AB group. We know that Roelof Otten fervently re-stated : What you can do is place your mailing list filters, that act upon the Reply-To header, before your spam filter. Ahhh / I had it that way to begin with Roelof. But the deal is that TrendMicro anti-spam filtering adds Spam: to the subject line. And there is also a X-header line. IF is is a False-Positve, then I must forward it plus headers to one address at TrendMicro Team for analysis. TB! is perfect for this except If I do this then I want the message to be in its CORRECT Folder so I can continue reading the emails of that group. Filtering on First Recip
I use a firewall which inspects incoming email. If it meets some criteria it adds the term spam: the the first part of the subject line. I can filter on that But ... I am a beta tester of their product and, on occasion, the thing mis-tags a good email The latest one being from Goncalo Farias [EMAIL PROTECTED] in TBBETA ... Now then I have a filter that looks for the first word being spam: then colour-code the message to my designated colour for spam and continue filtering because it may turn out to NOT be spam and if so I need to bundle it off to the programmers so they can tweak their settings. Otherwise, if it runs the gambit and IS spam, I bundle it to the FTC site where they wave toilet paper at it. There is a second-from-the-last filter which asks is message colour-coded spam? AND is first recipient in MY Lists address-group? YES? format to the programmers the last filter formats to the FTC now then, Goncalo's email, you may see in TBBETA has as first recip Robert D. tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com that would be ME my Lists group in the AB has TBBETA@thebat.dutaint.com and a first name of TBBETA the filter ALWAYS fails this one rule and moves on but does not send to FTC either because it fails that one too by virtue of really belonging to the friends group and not the spams group. Why does the filter miss the fact that the first recipient is in the AB-group Lists And I want more choices from which to select ... you all recognize that List traffic has often strange to and reply-to stuff, right? Scan to Email using TB!
I bought a new Scanner/FAX/Printer/Copier/Dishwasher ... admittedly, it isn't anywhere the top line, rather middle ground. A *Brother 640*. One can designate which Email program the scanned attachment goes to. I tried Outlook Express. An email was generated, I assigned an address and sent it. I then tried TB!. Mail Ticker use from a VF
I seem to be unable to select a VF for inclusion in what activates Mail Ticker. I have a VF, located under TheBat! folder, which gets messages in reply to something I wrote. Properties-Window Annoyance
I was just trying to respond to Villi's email about Bug: Account, Properties, Transport, SMTP, Authentication... this required me to be reading his email, for the directions to follow AND it required me to have the focus inside the Gmail Properties Box in THAT account of TB! Now, this does not seem to be possible Because once one brings up the properties box, one can NOT get out of that window and bring another to the front to be able to read farther on. I had to print out Villi's email to be able to follow the directions to conform a TB! beta bug ... Now his message is on paper. Hot Key Annoyance
This just happened to me a second or two ago. I was near the end of a post to a Livestock Guardian Dog email list and my clumsy finger hit **some** unknown key in the upper or topmost tier and the whole email was sent along with a download of all accounts. I have, what I thought, were hot-keys switched off !! Most annoying it is. Most terribly annoying. I immediately hit the X on the Connection Centre window to try and kill it. I then hit the kill on the Dial-up but the message got out. What ires me is that I know there were typo's with red underlines and I was going to go back and do the grammar and spell check stuff as I do after I get to the end of the writing. I am not, despite being on Internet for a very long time, a speed type due to finger configuration and possibly brain configuration. I do NOT like that I have no control over some secretly placed hot-key. Mind you, I suspect it **could* be F-11 but am not sure. I would like to be able to selectively switch-off these keys. -- Regards, Robert D. :flag-us-ky: _ The Bat! Switching Languages
I was just writing to a friend and put a %language=HU in his template so that, I hoped, the special characters in his name would show up in the plain text email. They did. I was happy. However, I was writing in English and thus my spell checker only understood Kuvasz and a few other Hungarian words I said not too worry. Then I wrote to TBUDL and saw I was using charset Latin-9 and apparently still in the Hungarian spell checker. I checked the options charset and it said Latin-9. I changed it back. The Main TB! Options/Language still said English ... there is no Hungarian BTW so I have no idea what HU meant when I put THAT there ... Hun? Atilla the Hun charset? Egads. I set this reply to German Old then fiddled around with the Charset window. Changing to various charsets had no effect on the number of englisch wörter misspelled in deutsch. And there never was a Hungarian translation I guess? Well, it doesn't show up in the language or spell check menus.
