Re: Filtering question
Hello Chris, > OK, thanks for checking, I must be doing something daft then. Maybe one > of you would be kind enough to look at what I have done here please?? OK, what I would do in your case: Filter: My New Mail Folder Condition: If Sender... or Recipient ... Action: None (Yes NONE) Sub-filter: Forward Mail Condition: Any Message Action: Move to the folder Forward message Both actions are included in the sub-filter because the sub-filter will ONLY be tested and executed IF the condition in the filter is true. Try it. You don't have to replace your current filters. Just deactivate them and create the suggested ones. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Hello Chris, >> If you want to, you can send me by PM your complete set of filters as >> text(*) and I will take a look at them. > > Have done so, many thanks! OK, I did receive your PM with your filters. OMG! How many do you have? With so many, I think you may be prone to 'loosing control'. I have just taken a quick look at them (will do so in more detail over the weekend) and so far I have seen two things: - You have other (several) filters that do forward messages to your gmail account. - I have seen that most (if not all) have the Option "Continue processing with other filters" set/ticked. Why this? Any reason why you want a message be 'tested' by all your filters? If a message matches the condition of the first (or Nth) filter, I see no sense in checking possible matches with the rest of them. Unless you have a good reason to have this option set, untick it in all filters and try and see if there is a difference. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Which New Message Template?
Hello Tony, > I need to update the new mail template but I have used it (with > minor variations) in many folders. Is there a way to find them all? Aside of what MFPA and Thomas have suggested, there is one thing that maybe useful to you to be aware of about folders: default templates. When you create a new folder, its templates default to whatever are the Account Templates. What I did many years ago is add this line at the end of all account templates: %COMMENT="This is default"%COMMENT="" This way, if and when I modify a folder template, I will delete this line. Deleting multiple folders
Hello all, I have several hundred folders that were created by a filter in the past few years. I have now decided to remove that filter and would like to delete all those folders. Is there any way to delete multiple folders, that I am not aware of? Deleting one by one is going to be a pain. Re: CTRL+Z
Hello Andrew, > CTRL-Z is a mnemonic for "Undo". I was expecting that it would undo > the deletion and move message back to where it was. And it works as such when you are in the Editor window. When you delete a message, at least with POP accounts (don't know about IMAP) it is actually just "marked for deletion" and it is not moved to Trash. When you delete messages in a folder, you can actually see them if you select "Folder/Browse deleted messages" from the main menu. Then, deleted messages (marked for deletion) are displayed with a "strike through" line. Re: CTRL+Z
Hello Thomas, > They are also copied to trash, so you can find them there. Well, yes and no. Or not always. I just remembered that you can have different deletion options in each Folder Properties if for Deletion you select "Use folder-specific deletion settings" . In my case, in the folder I checked, for Normal deletion I have "Mark as deleted, do not use the Trash folder". TB has s many options! ;-) Anyway, I have checked a folder that does not have "Use folder-specific deletion settings" ticked. If I delete a message, it is certainly copied to the Trash folder. But wait, if I "Browse deleted messages" I can see the message with the strike-though line, and if I do 'Undelete' it, the line is removed, the message is no longer 'marked for deletion', it is shown normally in the folder, BUT it is NOT removed from the Trash folder. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Hello Susanne, > How can I filter the messages into two folders, without getting mix-ups? > > Is it even possible? Yes, it is. The best I can think of is using Address Book Groups. Create two groups A and B. Include in A those in group A and in B those in group B. And include in A and B those that are on both. Then use two filters. 1. With Condition: "Address groups A contain sender" And action: Move to folder A. In the Options for this filter, select "Continue processing with other filters", so the next filter will also be executed. 2. With Condition: "Address groups B contain sender" And action: Move to folder B. DO NOT select "Continue processing..." Maybe it is not the only way to achieve what you want, but this should work. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Email Filter question
Hello MAU, > Maybe it is not the only way to achieve what you want, but this > should work. I think I "spoke" too fast and it won't work. I think the move to action will not work correctly for those who are on both groups, because the first filter will move them to folder A and the second one to B. But I am afraid it will not remain in A. Maybe you will need to create 3 AB groups. A for those who are only in A, B for those in B and AB for those who are on both. Then a third filter with condition "Address groups AB contain sender" And two actions: Move to folder A Copy to folder B Filter 1 in previous message will not need to include "Continue processing.. I will try to test this tomorrow if I have some time. -- Best regards, Miguel A. I am not an IMAP user, but my guess is that you may need to do both things. First on Gmail side and then in TB. As I say, just a guess. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Title: Re: Mark Folder as Read appears to fail Hello Acheton, Created using TheBat! 9.3.1 on Windows 10 Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit?. Because I use the same version and have no problem. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Mark Folder as Read appears to fail
Hello Acheton, > 64 bit That is certainly strange. I have just now tested with a folder with 533 messages and it just works. Have you tried to select one or a few messages in the message list and mark it/them as read? -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: View Mode - remember / autoexpand groups
Hello Acheton, > Is there anyway to set a view mode so all groups are open? Yes, there is. When setting up a view mode you can tick the option "Expand all threads". Re: search for emails
Hello Tom, > I do use sender or recipient too but sometimes you are just > searching for all correspondence with one > person and then it would be good to use header. I hardly do any searches for email, but if Header is an option, it should work. You may need to open a bug report. Anyway, until you are sure that searching Header works, for all correspondence with one person you can search for Sender .OR. Recipient. Also, you may want to set up Options/Preferences/Address History. https://www.ritlabs.com/en/support/help/76/# -- Best regards, Miguel A. No problem if you click on the "Name" header. What you get is the 'Sort Folders and Accounts' dialog, where you can select what to sort and how. And you can always Cancel. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Hello Maggie, > I'd love to have an explanation of how all the choices might affect > my setup before randomly trying each one though. I notice there's no > help button in that window. The only choice that may need an explanation is the first one: "Items at the current level". It refers to the level (top folders, subfolders), of the one you have currently selected when you click "Name". I think the rest of Target choices are quite self-explanatory. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Folder Inaccessible
Hello Keith, > Access violation at address ...01D56328 in module > 'thebat64.exe.' Read of address ...04. > > Can anyone help me with this? That type of error (access violation) are usually due to a software bug, and usually difficult to investigate. I suggest that you open a bug report at https://bt.ritlabs.com. Obviously, specify which version of TB you are using. If it is not that last one, you may need to upgrade. > On an unrelated topic...Do the TBTech and TBOT lists still exist, or > is it just TBUDL and TBBETA? Re: New Mail Drop List Broken Again
Hello Steven, > Is there a way to get the dro-list to show my favorite addresses and > groups again? AFAIK this type of problem with the drop down list has been an issue for a long time. Anyway, try what I did a long time ago to "solve" the issue.: - Create a New group. - DO NOT set to "Add items to the instant address popup" - Add an address, even a fake one, and mark it as "Favourite". - Close AB and see is the drop down list appears (see mine attached). - If it doesn't, try re-starting TB. If that doesn't work, remember that you can access the Favourites drop down by right-clicking on any header field of a new message. See Clip-2. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Hello MAU, > - Close AB and see is the drop down list appears (see mine attached).
