Fw: Rajni v/s Amitabh Bachan(heights!!!!)

2008-12-31 Thread Saibaba SV

- Forwarded Message

Rajnikant was bragging to Amitabh Bachan one day, You know, I know everyone
Just name someone, anyone, and I know them.

Tired of his boasting, Amitabh Bachan called his bluff, OK, Rajini how about
Tom Cruise?

Sure, yes, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it Rajini said.

So Rajini and Amitabh Bachan fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise's
door,

and sure enough, Tom Cruise shouts :--- Thalaiva! Great to see you! You and
your
friend come right in and join me for lunch!

..Although impressed, Amitabh Bachan is still skeptical. After they leave
Cruise's house, he tells Rajini that he thinks Rajini knowing Cruise was
just lucky.

No, no, just name anyone else Rajini says

.President Bush, Amitabh Bachan quickly retorts

..Yes, Rajini says, I know him .

And off they go. At the White House, Bush spots Rajini on the tour and
motions him, saying, :Rajini, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a
meeting, but you and your friend come on in and let's have a cup of coffee
first and catch up.

Well, Amitabh Bachan is much shaken by now, but still not totally convinced. Af
ter they leave the White House grounds, he implores her to name anyone else.

The Pope, Amitabh Bachan replies

..Sure! says Rajini, My folks are from Germany and I've known the Pope a
long time.

Rajini and Amitabh Bachan are assembled with the masses in Vatican Square when
Rajini says, This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all
these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go
upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope.

And he disappears into the crowd headed toward the Vatican .. Sure enough,
half an hour later Rajini emerges with the Pope on the balcony.

But by the time Rajini returns, he finds that Amitabh Bachan has had a heart
attack and is surrounded by paramedics. Wo rking his way to Amitabh Bachan's
side, Rajini asks her, What happened?

Amitabh Bachan looks up and says, I was doing fine until u and the pope came
out on the balcony and the man next to me said,

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

Who's that on the balcony with Rajini?

Fw: :Sardarji's Mom's Letter {very very funny}

2009-01-07 Thread Saibaba SV
May be an old one. However forwarding the same.
S.V.SAI BABA

Dear Banta,
Vahe Guru !

I am in a well here and hoping you are in the same well there. I'm writing this
letter slowly, because I know you cannot read fast.

We don't live where we did when you left home. Your dad read in the newspaper
that most accidents happen 20 miles from home, so we moved 20 miles.
I wont be able to send the address as the last Sardar who stayed here took the
house numbers with them for their new house so they would not have to change
their address. Hopefully by next week we will be able to bring our earlier
address plate here, so that our address will remain same too.

This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine, situated right above
the commode. I'm not sure it works.. Last week I put in 3 shirts, pulled the
chain and haven't seen them since..

The weather here isn't too bad. It rained only twice last week. The first time
it rained for 3 days and second time for 4 days.

The coat you wanted me to send you, your Aunt said it would be a little too
heavy to send in the mail with all the metal buttons, so we cut them off and
put them in the pocket.

Your father has another job. He has 500 men under him. He is cutting the grass
at the cemetery.

By the way I took Bahu to our club's poolside. The manager is really badmash.
He told her that two-piece swimming suit is not allowed in this club. We were
confused as to which piece should we remove?

Your sister had a baby this morning. I haven't found out whether it is a girl
or a boy, so I don't know whether you are an Aunt or Uncle.

Your uncle, Jetinder fell in a nearby well. Some men tried to pull him out, but
he fought them off bravely and drowned. We cremated him and he burned for three
days.

Your best friend, Balwinder, is no more. He died trying to fulfill his father's
last wishes. His father had wished to be buried at sea after he died. And your
friend died while in the process of digging a grave for his father.

There isn't much more news this time. Nothing much has happened.

P.S: Beta, I was going to send you some money but by the time I realized, I had
already sealed off this letter.

Our Earth And The Solar System

THIS is really fascinating - I’ve never really given this any thought
whatsoever, but it’s rather dazzling to see it presented this way.

I certainly thought this was enlightening. Didn’t even realize we knew much
beyond our sun It’s a big universe.

Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky.

It is more than 1000 light years away. So... how significant should we really
be feeling now?

And to think that each of us is but one person (out of a few billion) on earth
and The Creator cares about each of us.

Pretty awesome. Isn’t it?

Fw: [forwards4all] Save Indian Economy - Save INDIA

2009-01-23 Thread Saibaba SV

Save Indian Economy - Save INDIA

Dear Friends,
WE ALL CAN COLLECTIVELY MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO THE INDIAN ECONOMY BY
FOLLOWING FEW SIMPLE STEPS.
Our country like many other ASIAN countries is undergoing a severe Economic
crunch. Many INDIAN industries are closing Down. The INDIAN economy is in a
crisis and if we do not take proper steps to control those, we will be in a
critical situation.
More than 30,000 crore rupees of foreign exchange are being siphoned out of our
country on products such as cosmetics, snacks, tea, beverages... etc which are
consumed here. To protect our own interests we request everybody to use INDIAN
Products only for next two years. With the rise in petrol prices, if we do not
do this, the rupee will devalue further and we will end up paying much more for
the same products in the near future.
A cold drink costs only 70 to 80 paisa to produce, but is sold for NINE rupees,
and a major chunk of profits from these are sent abroad. This is a serious
drain on INDIAN economy. Remember, COCA COLA and PEPSI are US-based
companies and our money is being drained to USA.
What can you do?
You can consider some of the better alternatives to aerated drinks. You can
drink SWEET MILK, LEMON JUICE, FRESH FRUIT JUICES, CHILLED LASSI (SWEET OR
SOUR), BUTTER MILK, COCONUT WATER, JALJEERA, MASALA MILK.. what´s more,
everyone deserves a healthy drink, including you!
1. Buy only products manufactured by WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.
2. INFORM as many people as possible about this.. Spread Awareness.

This is the only way to save our country from severe economic crisis. You don´t
need to give-up your lifestyle. You just need to choose an alternate Product.
All categories of products are available from WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.
*** LIST OF PRODUCTS ***
1. BATHING SOAP:
USE - CINTHOL OTHER GODREJ BRANDS, SANTOOR, WIPRO SHIKAKAI, MYSORE SANDAL,

take a firm decision today.
BUY INDIAN, BE INDIAN.
We are not against of Foreign products.
WE ARE NOT ANTI-MULTINATIONAL.
WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE OUR NATION.
WE ARE FOR IMPORTED COMPUTER CHIPS NOT FOR IMPORTED POTATO CHIPS.
Although we ACHIEVED OUR INDEPENDENCE more than 50 years ago, EVERY DAY IS A
STRUGGLE FOR REAL FREEDOM.

FINALLY: It may not be possible or very difficult to GIVE UP ALL OF THE ITEMS
MENTIONED ABOVE, BUT CAN´T WE GIVE UP ATLEAST THREE ITEMS FOR THE SAKE OF OUR
COUNTRY´S ECONOMY?
And don´t forget to forward this mail to all your friends to create awareness.

the time an eagle reaches the age of 30 or so, its physical condition
has deteriorated to the point that survival is difficult: its talons
lose their flexibility and cannot properly grip prey, its beak becomes
dull and bent, and its wing feathers grow thick and heavy, sticking to
its chest and impairing its flight. The bird then retreats to a
mountaintop, where over a five-month period it sequentially knocks off
its beak by banging it against a rock, plucks out its talons, and then
plucks out its feathers, each stage producing a regrowth of the removed
body parts that renews the eagle and allows it to live for another 30-40
years.

Although this tale may provide a vivid illustration of the philosophy
(presented on the final slide) that sometimes one must shed the past in
order to move forward (or, as often expressed, In order to rebuild,
you must first tear down), it is merely a myth that strays far from
the reality of an eagle's life, according to the University of
Minnesota's Raptor Center: We have received quite a few e-mails regarding the
Eagle Rebirth
story recently. The story is quite far from what an eagle's life truly
consists of, but we would be happy to share with you the natural
history of the
Bald Eagle. Eagles would not typically lose their beak or talons,
unless it was the result of a traumatic injury. The talons and beak are
two of the three best defining features of what makes these birds
raptors.
Without the sharp talons for catching prey and the strong, sharp beak
for tearing food, the raptor would certainly die of starvation. An
eagle hatches with both a beak and talons and these will continue to
grow
throughout the bird's life. The beak and talons are composed of hard
keratin and are somewhat similar to human
fingernails. The talons of the eagle are not flexible as the story
claims. New layers of keratin growth build onto the old layers ensuring
a strong structure for the raptor. The
raptor keeps the beak in good condition naturally in the wild by eating
tough prey and rubbing the beak clean on stones or other hard surfaces
(feaking) after eating.

Eagles and other raptors generally do not pluck out their
feathers. All birds, including raptors, do go through a process of
losing feathers and this is called a molt. A bird's feathers do suffer
regular wear and tear so, ultimately, the quality of the feather will
decrease and it will need to be replaced. The feathers are not lost all
at the same time. If this were true, the bird would be unprotected from
natural elements and more importantly it would not be able to fly.
Eagles and all other raptors need to fly in order to hunt and survive
so the loss of flight would most likely mean starvation for the bird.
Each feather comes from a feather follicle much like hair does on a
mammal. When the feather is first emerging and developing it has a
blood supply coming from the body going up into the shaft of the
feather. If this feather is broken or pulled out it is not only very
painful for the bird, but could result in blood loss and damage to the
feather follicle. Severe damage to the feather follicle could result in
the permanent loss of the follicle. If a feather is lost before a molt
it could take up to a year to be replaced. Raptors and all other birds
molt in a symmetrical pattern. If a primary feather is molted on the
left wing, the same feather is molted simultaneously on the right wing.
This can ensure balance in flight for the bird while it hunts during
this molting period.

The average life span of an eagle is approximately 30 years. The eagle,
like many other living organisms, does not have the luxury of making
the decision to extend their life cycle far beyond what is normal for
its
species. In captivity, an eagle may live beyond what the average life
expectancy is, because it receives both regular and nutritious meals,
has access to veterinary care and can be sheltered from the harsh
elements by housing provided by the facility caring for the bird. Even
then, the life span is in no way extended as far as this myth is
suggesting.

There is speculation as to the origin of this myth, but we can assure you that
none of it is true. Last updated: 19 December 2007

I don't know whether this will work. And Computer professionals can comment on
this.

But it looks like a good, simple idea!!

How to protect your e-mail address book

A computer repairman says this is like having gold. This is
 a good thing.
 I learned a computer trick today that's
 really ingenious
 in its simplicity.

As you may know, when/if a worm virus gets into your
 computer it heads
straight for your email address book, and sends
 itself to everyone in
there, thus infecting all your friends and
 associates.

This trick won't keep the virus from getting
 into your computer,
but it will stop it from using your address book
to spread further, and it will
alert you to the fact that the worm has gotten into your
 system.

 Here's what you do:

First, open your address book and click on 'new
contact,' just as you would do
if you were adding a new friend to your list of
 email addresses.
In the window where you would type your friend's first
 name, type in ' AAA'.

For the screen name or email address, type ...@aaa.
 AAA

Now, here's what you've done and why it works:

The name 'AAA' will be placed at the top of your
 address book as entry #1.

This will be where the worm will start in an effort to send
 itself to all your friends.

When it tries to send itself to ...@aaa. AAA,
it will be undeliverable because of the phony email address
 you entered.
If the first attempt fails (which it will because
 of the phony address),
the worm goes no further and none of your friends
 will be infected.

Here's the second great advantage of this method: If an
 email cannot be delivered,
you will be notified of this in your In Box
almost immediately. Hence, if you ever

get an email telling you that an email addressed
 to ...@aaa. AAA could not
be delivered, you know right away that you have
the worm virus in your system.
You can then take steps to get rid of it!

 Pretty slick huh? Try it

If everybody you know does this then you need not ever
worry about opening mail from friends.

DO IT NOW and pass this on to all your
 friends.

Fw: [forwards4all] Rafflesia Arnoldi [World’s Largest Flower]

2009-05-31 Thread Saibaba SV

Rafflesia Arnoldi - World’s largest flower

The largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia Arnoldi, weighs 7 kg (15 pounds)
and grows only on the Sumatra island of Indonesia. Its petals grow to 0.5 metre
(1.6 feet) long and 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick.
There are 16 species of rafflesia, found in Sumatra, Malaysia and Borneo. The
species is named after the naturalist Sir Stamford Raffles, who founded the
British colony of Singapore in 1819. Raffles discovered the parasitic plant
with his friend Dr. Joseph Arnold during their travels in May 1818. The
Rafflesia Arnoldi is named after the two.
Several species of Rafflesia grow in the jungles of Southeast Asia, all of them
threatened or endangered. Rafflesia arnoldii is the largest; its blossom
attains a diameter of nearly a meter and can weigh up to 11 kg. Not only is it
the world's largest flower, it is one of the most bizarre and improbable
organisms on the planet.
It produces no leaves, stems or roots but lives as a parasite on the
Tetrastigma vine, which grows only in primary (undisturbed) rainforest. Only
the flower or bud can be seen; the rest of the plant exists only as filaments
within its unfortunate host. The blossom is pollinated by flies attracted by
its scent, which resembles that of carrion.
The Rafflesia is rare and fairly hard to locate. It is especially difficult to
see in bloom; the buds take many months to develop and the blossom lasts for
just a few days. How many of these strange plants still survive is unknown, but
the last of them can be expected to vanish as the remaining primary forests of
Borneo and Sumatra are burned. However fascinating and beautiful the rafflesia
arnoldi may be, it is also called “corpse flower” and really reeks, the latter
to attract flies for pollination.
Of about 200,000 kinds of flowers in the world, the smallest is the duckweed,
which can only be seen with a microscope.

Installing Husband (Funny)

A desperate woman writes to the Technical support Guy:
Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and I noticed a distinct
slowdown in the overall system performance, particularly in the flower and
jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs
such as NEWS 5.0, MONEY 3.0 and CRICKET 4.1.
Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the
system.
Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to
no avail.
What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate Woman

She got a reply back from the Technical Support Guy.

DEAR DESPERATE Madam,
First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband
1.0 is an operating system.
Please enter command: i thought you loved me. html and try to download Tears
6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application
works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications
Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.
However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to
default to Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6. 1
is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.
Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it
runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your
system resources.)
In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program.
These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and
cannot learn new applications quickly.
You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and
performance. We recommend: Cooking 3.0 and Hot Looks 7.7.
Good Luck Madam!
Tech Support

Five cannibals (Man eaters) get appointed as programmers in an IT company.
During the welcoming ceremony the boss says: You're all part of our team
now. You can earn good money here, and you can go to the company canteen
for something to eat. So don't trouble the other employees. The cannibals
promise not to trouble the other employees.

Four weeks later the boss returns and says: You're all working very
hard, and I'm very satisfied with all of you. One of our developers has
disappeared however. Do any of you know what happened to her? The
cannibals disown all knowledge of the missing developer. After the boss
has left, the leader of the cannibals says to the others: Which of you
idiots ate the developer?

One of the cannibals raises his hand hesitantly, to which the leader of
the cannibals says: You FOOL! For four weeks we've been eating team
leaders, managers, and project managers and no-one has noticed anything,
and now YOU ate one developer and it got noticed. So hereafter please
don't eat a person who is working.

Keep Swine Flu away

2009-08-10 Thread Saibaba SV
The Basic Precautions to be taken to keep away from Swine Flu is reproduced
from Yahoo India News for the benefit of the members

S.V.SAIBABA

Keep Swine Flu Away with Basic Precautions

Swine flu in India is spreading like wildfire, taking
the toll to six. Officials say there are currently more than 800 cases
of the H1N1 flu strain in India. Governments from all around the world
are finding ways to combat this deadly disease. So what can you do to
protect yourself? Stay calm and practice these 10 effective prevention
tips.
1. Wash your hands frequently
Use the antibacterial soaps to cleanse your hands. Wash them often, at least 15
seconds and rinse with running water.
2. Get enough sleep
Try to get 8 hours of good sleep every night to keep your immune system in top
flu-fighting shape.
3. Keep hydrated
Drink
8 to10 glasses of water each day to flush toxins from your system and
maintain good moisture and mucous production in your sinuses.
4. Boost your immune system
Keeping
your body strong, nourished, and ready to fight infection is important
in flu prevention. So stick with whole grains, colorful vegetables, and
vitamin-rich fruits.
5. Keep informed
The
government is taking necessary steps to prevent the pandemic and
periodically release guidelines to keep the pandemic away. Please make
sure to keep up to date on the information and act in a calm manner.
6. Avoid alcohol
Apart
from being a mood depressant, alcohol is an immune suppressant that can
actually decrease your resistance to viral infections like swine flu.
So stay away from alcoholic drinks so that your immune system may be
strong.
7. Be physically active
Moderate
exercise can support the immune system by increasing circulation and
oxygenating the body. For example brisk walking for 30-40 minutes 3-4
times a week will significantly perk up your immunity.
8. Keep away from sick people
Flu
virus spreads when particles dispersed into the air through a cough or
sneeze reach someone else’s nose. So if you have to be around someone
who is sick, try to stay a few feet away from them and especially,
avoid physical contact.
9. Know when to get help
Consult your doctor if you have a cough and fever and follow their
instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed.
10. Avoid crowded areas
Try to avoid unnecessary trips outside. Moreover, avoid touching your eyes,
nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.

Bhuvan

2009-08-16 Thread Saibaba SV
Good News from Yahoo News is given below for the benefit of the members:

S.V.SAIBABA

Bhuvan: ISRO's answer to Google Earth

Fri, Aug 14 02:42 PM
In
what appears to be a challenge to Google Earth and Wikimapia, the Space
Applications Centre (SAC) of ISRO has come up with 'Bhuvan', bringing
India's name into the limelight yet again. Bhuvan, which literally
means 'earth', is a web-based tool like Google Earth, but it promises
better 3-D satellite imagery of India than what is currently being
offered by other Virtual Globe software. Moreover, it brings you a host
of India-specific features such as weather information and even
administrative boundaries of all states and districts.
Bhuvan is
equally capable of offering images of the globe, but the best
resolution area is India, at least for the time being. Bhuvan will be
able to give you an image from only 10 meters away, an ISRO spokesman
said; which means in the Indian subcontinent even a commuter moving on
the road can be easily spotted. Bhuvan uses images taken at least a
year ago by ISRO's seven remote-sensing satellites in orbit including
Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2.
Unique features
1.
Bhuvan allows users to access, explore and visualize 2D and 3D image
data along with rich thematic information on soil, wasteland, water
resources etc in the Indian subcontinent.
2. It displays multi-resolution, multi-sensor, multi-temporal image data.
3. Users can superpose administrative boundaries of choice on images as
required.
4.
It allows visualization of AWS (Automatic Weather Stations) data in a
graphic view and use tabular weather data of user choice.
5. Fly to locations (Enables users to fly from the current location directly to
the selected location)
6. It features a Heads-Up Display (HUD) navigation controls (Tilt slider, north
indicator, opacity, compass ring, zoom slider)
7. Allows navigation using the 3D view Pop-up menu (Fly-in, Fly out, jump in,
jump around, view point)
8. 3D Fly through (3D view to fly to locations, objects in the terrain, and
navigate freely using the mouse or keyboard)
9. Drawing 2D objects (Text labels, polylines, polygons, rectangles, 2D arrows,
circles, ellipse)
10. Drawing 3D Objects (placing of expressive 3D models, 3D polygons, boxes)
11. Snapshot creation (copies the 3D view to a floating window and allows
saving to an external file)
12. Measurement tools (Horizontal distance, aerial distance, vertical distance,
measure area)
13.
Shadow Analysis (it sets the sun position based on the given time
creating shadows and effects of the lighting on the terrain)
14. The Bhuvan portal is designed to run on slow Internet connections.
Bhuvan's edge over Google Earth
Google Earth Bhuvan
Zoom levels up to 200 mt Zoom levels up to 10 mt
Single layer information Multi-layer information
Images upgraded every 4 years Images upgraded every year
No alternate viewing options Options of viewing on different dates
Uses international satellites Uses Indian satellites
Thus,
Bhuvan represents, in essence, the whole India on your computer. The
next version of Bhuvan is expected to be called Bhuvan ChandraBhumi,
which will feature both earth and moon in resolution up to 347 m
maximum in near side and 432 m far side which is taken by Chandrayaan.
The Bhuvan project demonstrates the country's expertise in both
information and space technology.

Fw: [forwards4all] History Mystery

2009-10-11 Thread Saibaba SV

History Mystery

Have a history teacher explain this - if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy’s secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named ‘Ford’.
Kennedy was shot in a car called ‘Lincoln’ made by ‘Ford’.
Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here’s the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
Creepy huh? Send this to as many people as you can, cause:
Hey, this is one history lesson most people probably will not mind reading!

The Wife And The Window

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning, while they are
eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hang the wash outside.
That laundry is not very clean, she said, she doesn’t know how to wash
correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap. Her husband looked on, but
remained silent. Every time her neighbour would hang her wash to dry, the young
woman would make the same comments.
About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the
line and said to her husband:
“Look! She has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this.”
The husband said: “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows!”
And so it is with life:
“What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through
which we look. Before we give any criticism, it might be a good idea to check
our state of mind and ask ourselves if we are ready to see the good rather than
to be looking for something in the person we are about to judge.”

Fw: Family [Nice Story]

2009-10-12 Thread Saibaba SV

-

Family [Nice Story]

I ran into a stranger as he passed by, “Oh excuse me please,” was my reply.
He said, “Please excuse me too; I wasn’t watching for you.” We were very
polite, this stranger and I. We went on our way saying good-bye.
But at home a difference is told, How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal, my son stood beside me very still. As
I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
“Move out of the way,” I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken. I didn’t realize how harshly I’d
spoken.
While I lay awake in bed, God’s still small voice came to me and said, “While
dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use, but the children you love,
you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor, you’ll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you. He picked them himself: pink, yellow
and blue. He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise, and you never saw
the tears that filled his little eyes.”
By this time, I felt very small, and now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed, “Wake up, little one, wake up,” I said.
“Are these the flowers you picked for me?”
He smiled, “I found ’em, out by the tree. I picked ’em because they’re pretty
like you. I knew you’d like ’em, especially the blue.” I said, “Son, I’m very
sorry for the way I acted today; I shouldn’t have yelled at you that way.”
He said, “Oh, Mom, that’s okay. I love you anyway.” I said, “Son, I love you
too, and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.”
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for
could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will
feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it,we pour
ourselves more into work than to our own family - an unwise investment indeed,
don’t you think?
So what is behind the story? Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER, (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU!
A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street,
going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out
from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.
As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the
Jag’s side door! He slammed on the brakes and spun the Jag back to the spot
from where the brick had been thrown.
He jumped out of the car, grabbed some kid and pushed him up against a parked
car shouting, “What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are
you doing?!” Building up a head of steam he went on. That’s a new car and that
brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?”
“Please, mister, please. I’m sorry, I didn’t know what else to do,” pleaded the
youngster. “I threw the brick because no one else would stop...” Tears were
dripping down the boy’s chin as he pointed around the parked car.
“It’s my brother,” he said. “He rolled off the curb and fell out of his
wheelchair and I can’t lift him up.” Sobbing, the boy asked the executive,
“Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He’s hurt and he’s
too heavy for me.”
Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in
his throat. He lifted the young man back into the wheelchair and took out his
handkerchief and wiped the scrapes and cuts, checking to see that everything
was going to be okay. “Thank you and may God bless you,” the grateful child
said to him.
The man then watched the little boy push his brother down the sidewalk toward
their home. It was a long walk back to his jaguara long, slow walk. He
never did repair the side door. He kept the dent to remind him not to go
through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your
attention.
Lessons from the Mail: “God whispers in your soul and speaks to your heart.
Sometimes when you don’t have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at you.
It’s your choice: Listen to the whisper - or wait for the brick.”

Wrong Email ID (True story ??)

A man checked into a hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to
send an e-mail to his wife.
However, he accidentally typed a wrong e-mail address, and without realizing
his error, he sent the e-mail.
Meanwhile... . Somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned from her
husband’s funeral. The widow decided to check her e-mail, expecting condolence
messages from relatives and friends.
After reading the first message, she fainted. The widow’s son rushed into the
room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

Subject: I’ve Reached

I know you’re surprised to hear from me. I landed here safely. They gave
computer here and we are allowed to send e-mails to loved ones.

I’ve just reached and have been checked in. I see that everything has been
prepared for your arrival tomorrow.

Eagerly waiting for you!

Re: Lesson from Life of EAGLE

2009-10-13 Thread Saibaba SV
Dear Subbu Sir

This mail on Lesson from Life of Eagle is a Hoax mail in circulation since 2007.

The comments in Hoax-slayer.com is given below

S.V.SAIBABA

http://www.hoax-slayer.com/rebirth-of-the-eagle-hoax.shtml

COMMENTARY:
The information in the message is false.

Eagles do not undergo the process of rebirth described in the slide show. In
fact, the story is simply an allegory about change and does not reflect the
real life style of eagles. Presumably, the creator of the slide show invented
the eagle rebirth story as a means of illustrating his or her concepts
regarding the role of change in our lives. Unfortunately, the author has
presented the rebirth story as if it was factual and therefore many recipients
tend to take it literally.

Of course a closer review soon reveals the absurdity of the tale. The story
does not explain how the eagle could possibly survive without food or water for
the five months of its transformation. Moreover, an eagle's talons and beak
continue to grow throughout its life and therefore do not grow old and unusable
as claimed in the story. And its feathers are also continually replaced. The
American Bald Eagle Information website notes:
For those of you who have e-mailed me wondering if it's true that an eagle goes
into seclusion, plucks all of its feathers, sheds its beak and talons, and then
renews itself, is a myth. An eagle's beak and talons grow continuously, because
they are made of keratin, the same substance as our hair and fingernails.
Eagles molt in patches, taking almost half a year to replace feathers, starting
with the head and working downward. Not all feathers are replaced in a given
molt. An eagle without feathers, talons, and a beak would die of starvation and
exposure.Bald eagles typically live between twenty and thirty years in the
wild. The lifespan of other species of eagles may vary, although none are known
to reach seventy years in the wild.

Although scientists have studied eagles of various species for generations and
much has been published about them, no credible sources back up the eagle
rebirth story in any way. There are, however, plenty of reliable sources that
dismiss the story as a foolish hoax.

Rebirth stories, such as that of the mythical phoenix rising from the ashes of
its funeral pyre, have been part of human cultures for thousands of years. The
philosophical message behind the story - that we often need to undergo a
painful and prolonged process of change in our lives in order to spiritually
grow and move forward - is certainly worth heeding. However the nonsensical
story used as a vehicle for the message all but destroys its credibility.

And there are other anomalies in the presentation. In some slides, the eagle
shown in the photographs is a Bald Eagle, but in others a different species,
the Golden Eagle, is shown. The story also sprouts the scientifically
meaningless claim that the eagle has the longest life-span of its species.
The author perhaps meant to say that eagles live longer than all other kinds of
birds, but this is also incorrect. Parrots and other species of birds are known
to live longer than eagles.

Dear Sir

As explained in my subsequest mail, the magnifier tool in Windows 7 can be
selected by clicking the Magnifier tool option . We get options to see a
portion or full page in different size of magnifications. In Windows XP, the
Magnifier is available under:
StartAll ProgramsAccessoroesAccessabilityMagnifier

On clicking Magnifier we will get the tool with options to magnify in
different sizes. But as informed by me earlier, we can get only a portion of
the document magnified. In Windows 7 only magnification of the full page is
available.

With reference to the earlier mails in this regard, in addition to the use of
Readability tool and physical magnifying glass for better readability of
mails and other documents, there is provision of  a Magnifier tool in the
Windows itself. It is available from Windows XP upwards. I have attached two

file of the same email(new.jpg) after using the Magnifier. I have also
attached the procedure for invoking the Magnifier. I hope that this will be
useful in addition of the tools already suggested.

Police can now track your
e-mails
Mumbai, Nov. 22 -- The police can now
read your e-mails without prior permission from the home department. The
Parliament recently cleared an amendment to the Information Technology (IT)
Act,
allowing the police to intercept or decrypt online information without seeking
the home department's nod.

Rising instances of cyber crime have prompted the move aimed at cutting red
tape. The amendment empowers the inspector general of police to permit
interception or decoding information in cyber space in an emergency. This will
help speedy detection of cyber crimes like phishing or sending offensive
messages and in tracking terrorists who operate using the Internet.

Advocate I.P. Bagaria said the amendment was necessary. Every citizen has a
right to privacy. However, this cannot be at the cost of the state or country,
he said. The secretary in-charge of the state home department should be
informed
about the interception within three days of tracking.
The secretary - the final sanctioning authority - has to grant permission
within seven days. Once the sanction has been obtained, it has to be placed
before the Review Committee within two months. Senior advocate Amit Desai said
this period should be reduced. Otherwise there are chances of misuse of these
powers.

The police had to earlier take permission from the additional chief
secretary, home or, in an emergency, the joint secretary. Liberalisation of
interception is required when the world is dealing with terrorism, said senior
police officer-turned-lawyer Y.P. Singh.

Cyber expert Vijay Mukhi said there should be a mechanism to check
misuse.

Interesting to read similar case of U turn  on the same day.

S V SAI BABA

Kasab's U-turn again, retracts guilt plea

Fri, Jan 22 07:38 PM
Mumbai, Jan 22 (PTI) Six months after he surprised the 26/11 court by
confessing to his role in the Mumbai carnage, Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab
today said his guilt plea last July was made under duress from police.

It is not for the first time that Kasab has made a U-turn. He had earlier
disowned his confession made before a magistrate about the 26/11 terror
conspiracy and his role in the dastardly strikes. Three days back, Kasab had
claimed that four terrorists who had struck at Taj hotel were Indians.

Today, Kasab retracted his guilt plea made on July 20 last in which he had
talked about attending an LeT camp in Pakistan, arriving in Mumbai from Karachi
by sea route, firing at people at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Cama
Hospital and fighting a gun battle with policemen at Girgaum Chowpatty.

Yes I had said all this earlier in the court but it was under police
pressure, Kasab said in reply to questions put by judge M L Tahaliyani on
evidence adduced by prosecution against him.

As soon as the judge began asking him questions on the guilt plea made by him,
Kasab complained that his advocate K P Pawar was not helping him. However, the
judge rebuked him saying he had asked him to talk to his lawyer yesterday but
he did respond.

Ravi Subramanian says he became approver under external pressure

Claims he and his family were harassed in custody
The judge posted the case for February 11 and 12

PUDUCHERRY: In a new twist to the Sankararaman murder case, Ravi Subramanian,
who had become an approver during the course of investigation, turned hostile
when he was examined by the Special Public Prosecutor at the Principal District
and Sessions Court here on Thursday. During examination by Special Public
Prosecutor N. Devadass, Subramanian informed the court that he became an
approver under external pressure. He was coerced by the police to turn an
approver and give statement favouring the investigation. Contradicting all the
statements made before the lower court and the police about identifying the
accused, his connections with a few accused persons and his visits to the Mutt
to plan the murder, Subramanian said he neither knew the accused persons nor
about the murder plan. He also informed the court that the police did not seize
any documents from his custody.
Contradictory statements
Following his contradictory statements, the SPP informed Principal District and
Sessions Judge D. Krishnaraja that he was treating him as a hostile witness.
Subsequently, Subramanian was cross-examined by defence counsel K.S Dinakaran
and Prakash. Subramanian deposed that before he was produced in the
Kancheepuram Court on December 27, 2004, he was in illegal custody for around
15 days and was harassed by then Superintendent of Police Premkumar and
Additional Superintendent of Police Sakthivel. Maintaining that the harassment
caused physical and mental agony, he said his wife and children were also in
police custody and harassed.
Stating the truth
Since his wife and children were in the police custody, he, out of fear, gave a
statement dictated by the police before the court, Subramanian said, adding
that he was now stating the truth because the officers who arrested him were
not in service. Subramanian who was first treated as an accused in the case
during preliminary investigation by the police later became an approver. He was
then treated as witness in the case.

Dear Sir

This is also one of the Hoax /Misconception Mails in circulation for more than
5 years. Please see the response of an official of RANBAXY given long back
regarding the contents of this mail:

S.V.SAI BABA

Reply from RANBAXY :

I have seen this below mentioned mail floating across group email I feel its
my moral responsibility to correct all misconceptions regarding HIV/AIDS. I can
do this because I am educated enough to comment on this and for those who don't
know my profession ..I am serving as Brand Manager (Product Manager) handling
anti HIV/AIDS portfolio (called as Antiretroviral Drugs) in Ranbaxy.

Please read following points carefully don't send such emails related to
medical ailments without having complete knowledge about it (even partial
knowledge could be grossly dangerous).

HIV (virus) requires *ONLY* *Blood or Semen* as medium to transmit from one
body to another HIV *can not* transmit even through *Saliva* (mucous) i.e. even
if HIV-infected patient coughs and another person is exposed to his sputum
(cough), the virus still can not transmit because concentration of virus
particles in sputum is almost NIL exposure to air
anyway kills virus in fraction of seconds.

In case HIV-infected person got an injury (like the cut in below mentioned
story) and he is bleeding, the virus can transmit to another person only if
another person has a cut/wound in his body that too when *blood From both
person comes in contact with each other* (this is also very very Rare unless
bleeding is very high) and not otherwise HIV can *never survive in any other
liquid* medium also other than blood or semen ( please for God sake ... never
in Pani Puri wala's pani) Even if one drinks an HIV infected blood (or semen)
of someone (ingest through Gastro Intestinal track), the virus *can not survive
in the acidic pH of stomach*. Highest extent of acidity is 0 (practically not
possible) so imagine 1 as pH which is in our stomach. (This pH can bun Your own
finger
in less than a second if you dip in that acid).

Exposure of less than 1 second in AIR KILLS the HIV virus* (story of needle
pricks in Cinema theatres goes down the drain). Even if blood from a wound (of
infected person) dries up (*blood clot*), *the virus dies* and can not infect
anyone else HIV transmission is *ONLY* an *INFECTION* i.e. entrance of virus in
one's body. It *DOES NOT MEAN AIDS*. An HIV-infected person (after entrance of
virus) can progress to condition of AIDS only after *8 to 10 YEARS *(not in 15
days as in the mentioned story)

It is *not HIV (virus) that kills a human* . the virus attacks immune cells
(cells that fight against foreign pathogens/antigens) and hence a person's
ability to fight against infections diseases slowly diminishes and person
ultimately dies of a disease which could be as Simple as TB.
Most importantly, HIV is no longer dreadful disease ... it is *CHRONIC
MANAGEABLE DISEASE* just like Diabetes or Hypertension.

If there is anything you need to be careful from to prevent HIV is *UnsafeSex*,
*Blood transfusion* (check before taking) / Blood donation (us sterilized
needles only) and any *blood contact during an accident *or so where amount of
bleeding is very high

SUCH AN INFORMATION IS STRICTLY FOR THE USE OF HUMANITY...
SO GO ON...DO THE GOOD WORK...PASS IT ON TO OTHERS...

Life is Beautiful Virus HoaxSummary:
Warning message claims that an email with an attached Power Point presentation
called Life is beautiful is a virus that will destroy all files on the
infected computer (Full commentary below.)

Status:
False

Example: (Submitted, November 2006)

VERY IMPORTANT WARNING

Please Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo,
Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning direct from both
Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to
the Internet.

You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation
Life is beautiful.

If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it
immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen
saying: It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful. Subsequently
you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain
access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which started to
circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and
the antivirus software's are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been
created by a hacker who calls himself life owner.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to PASS IT ON
IMMEDIATELY.

Commentary:
This warning claims that a very destructive virus disguised as a Power Point
Presentation called Life is beautiful is currently being distributed via
email. However, there is not, nor has there ever been a virus like the one
described in this message.

There are several variants of the hoax, including versions in Chinese, French,
Spanish, Italian and several other languages. The message tries to add
authority to its claims by mentioning high-profile companies such as Microsoft
and AOL. Incidentally, Microsoft does not send out unsolicited virus warnings.
Moreover, Norton is the name given to a range of security software products
sold by Symantec Corp. Thus, information about virus threats is published by
Symantec, not Norton. In this case, Symantec has published information
about the Life is beautiful message - but only to denounce it as a hoax.

This hoax started circulating in early 2002 and it has been passed around ever
since. In spite of a great deal of online exposure, the hoax tends to resurge
from time to time and its rate of circulation increases dramatically for a few
months. As hoax emails go, this is one of the most successful. Perhaps
because of the apparent destructiveness of the virus and the urgent tone of
the warning, people are apt to forward the message without much forethought.
Like many other hoaxes, it capitalizes on the recipient's desire to help other
Internet users by warning them of a perceived threat.

Before forwarding a virus warning email, it is always a good idea to check that
the information in the message is valid. Virus hoaxes are quite common, and
like this one, they tend to circulate for years after they are first launched.
In other cases, virus warnings that may have been originally true circulate
long after the described virus has ceased to be a significant threat. Virus
hoaxes and outdated warnings are no help to anybody. All they do is waste time,
cause confusion and needlessly clutter inboxes. Such problems mean that
forwarding warning emails may not be the best way to help battle viruses and
other computer security threats.

If you receive this email hoax, please help to stop its continued circulation
by letting the sender know that it is a hoax and should not be forwarded.

Older versions of the hoax:

This information arrived this morning, from Microsoft and Norton. Please send
it to everybody you know who accesses the Internet. You may receive an
apparently harmless email with a PowerPoint presentation called Life is
beautiful.pps.

If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it
immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen
saying: It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful, subsequently
you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain
access to your name, email and password. This is a new virus which started to
circulate on Saturday afternoon. WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO STOP THIS
VIRUS. UOL has already confirmed its dangerousness, and the antivirus Softs are
not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls
himself life owner, and who aims to destroying domestic PCs and who also
fights Microsoft in court! That's why it comes disguised with extension pps. He
fights in court for the Windows- XP patent.

Subject: Talmudic wisdom

A Priest meets his friend, the Rabbi, and says to him, You have taught me
many things but there is one thing in particular I want to learn very much
but you do not wish to teach it to me. I want you to teach me the Talmud.

The Rabbi replied: You are a Non-Jew and you have the brain of a Non-Jew.
There is no chance that you will succeed in understanding the Talmud.

But the Priest continued in his attempt to persuade the Rabbi to teach him

the Talmud.

Finally, the Rabbi agreed. The Rabbi then said to the Priest: I agree to
teach you the Talmud on condition that you answer one question.

The Priest agreed and asked the Rabbi, What is the question?

The Rabbi then said to the Priest: Two men fall down through the chimney;
one comes out dirty and the other comes out clean. Who of those two goes to
wash up?

Very simple, replied the Priest. The one who is dirty goes to wash up but

the one who is clean does not go to wash up.

The Rabbi then said to the Priest: I told you that you will not succeed in
understanding the Talmud. The exact opposite happened. The clean one looks
at the dirty one and thinks that he is also dirty, goes to wash up. The
dirty one, on the other hand, looks at the clean one and thinks that he is
also clean and, therefore, does not go to wash up.

The Priest then says to the Rabbi: This I did not think of. Ask me,
please, another question.

The Rabbi then said to the Priest: Two men fall down through the chimney;
one comes out dirty and the other comes out clean. Who of those two goes to
wash up?

The Priest then says to the Rabbi: Very simple. The clean one looks at the

dirty one and thinks he is also dirty and goes to wash up. The dirty one on
the other hand, looks at the clean one and thinks that he is also clean and,
therefore, does not go to wash up.

The Rabbi then says to the Priest: You are wrong again.

I told you that you will not understand. The clean one looks into the
mirror, sees that he is clean and, therefore, does not go to wash up. The
dirty one looks into the mirror, sees that he is dirty and goes to wash up.

The Priest complains to the Rabbi, But you did not tell me that there is a
mirror there.

The Rabbi then tells the Priest: I told you. You are a Non-Jew; with your
brain you will not succeed in understanding the Talmud. According to the

Talmud, you have to think of all the possibilities.

All right, groaning, said the Priest to the Rabbi. Let us try once more.
Ask me one more question.

For the last time, the Rabbi then said to the Priest: Two men fall down

through the chimney; one comes out dirty and the other comes out clean. Who
of those two goes to wash up?

That is very simple! replied the Priest. If there is no mirror there the
clean one will look at the dirty one and will think that he is also dirty

and will, therefore, go to wash up. The dirty one will look at the clean one
and will think that he is also clean, and will, therefore, not go to wash
up. If there is a mirror there, the clean one will look into the mirror and

will, therefore, not go to wash up. The dirty one will look into the mirror
and will see that he is dirty and will, therefore, go to wash up.

The Rabbi then says to the Priest: I told you that you would not succeed in

understanding. You are a Non-Jew; you have a Non-Jew brain. Tell me, how is
it possible for two men to fall through a chimney and for one to come out
dirty and the other to come out clean?

Mind Reader
~ Great Program - Give it a try! ~

Hello friends,

Here is a great piece of program called Mind Reader.

All you have to do is take two single digit numbers. Add both of them to get
one value. Then combine both numbers to get a value and subtract the sum total
from this combined value. Check out the symbol beside the number and then
click on the circle in the program.

Bingo!! It picks the exact symbol that you chose. It's very logical and
mathematical too. Think about it and you'll be able to crack the logic in it :)

Give it a try!!

Good luck!!!

Canadian Research Group Says Vicks VapoRub on the Bottom of Feet at Bedtime
Stops Coughing-Fiction!
Summary of the eRumor:
The email says that the Canada Research Council doesn't know why but has found
that using Vicks VapoRub on the bottom of the feet at bedtime will stop
nighttime coughing.

It says that even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes
and that relief will last for hours.

This was discovered as part of a research project about the effectiveness of
prescription cough medicines compared with alternative therapies in children.
The Truth:
There is no Canada Research Council but the National Research Council of
Canada did issue a statement about this eRumor.

The Council said that it had never conducted any such research about Vicks
VapoRub and that it does not, as the eRumor suggested, do research on
alternative applications of medicines.

It is popularly believed that rubbing Vicks VapoRub on the feet can help
coughing. We're not aware of any official research that found that it works.

The Vicks company has never made such a claim although Vicks VapoRub and its
formula of camphor, eucalyptus oil, and menthol is formulated to deal with
coughs. The company recommends rubbing it on the chest or throat for relieving
coughing during a cold or on muscles and joints for relieving minor pain.

The eRumor, however, appears to have been fabricated by someone who believed in
the efficacy of rubbing the product on the feet and who wanted to be able to
cite official research supporting it.

Subject: stop cough in 5 minutes

From another group No harm trying it

How to stop cough in 5 minutes!!!
This is a must try We have all been kept awake by our own or someone else's
cough. Try this and pass it on. The tip and not the cough. ANYTHING is better
than antibiotics. Even babies could benefit from this and the parents wouldn't
worry about the safety of their child. And of course, it is harmless and free
from any type of side-effects. WOW! I was raised, and raised my kids with
Vicks. How come I never knew this? I can't wait for my next cough. Amazing!
Treatment:
To stop night time coughing in a child (or an adult, as we found out
personally), put Vicks Vapor Rub generously on the bottom of the feet at
bedtime and then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes and stay
stopped for many, many hours of relief. This works 100 percent of the time, and
is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough
medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will
sleep soundly. I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these
findings on the part of their scientists when they were investigating the
effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children, as
compared to alternative therapies like acupressure. I just happened to tune in
to a.m. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids
often do more harm than good due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs,
so I listened. It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than
prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, and in addition to have a
soothing and calming effect on sick children who
then went on to sleep soundly.

My friend tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent
cough a few weeks ago, and it worked 100 percent! She said it felt like a warm
blanket had enveloped her. The coughing stopped in a few minutes, and believe
me this was a deep (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds, uncontrollable
cough and she slept cough-free for hours every night she used it.

If you have children or grandchildren, pass it on. If you end up sick, try it
yourself and you will be absolutely amazed.

How to stop cough in 5 minutes!!! This is a must try...

Subject: FW: Y U Need 2 B Wary Of Hotel Magnetic Key Cards.

Always take a small magnet on your holiday, they come in handy at the end of
it.
Thought you all needed to know this

This is pretty good info. Never even thought about key cards containing
anything other than an access code for the room!

HOTEL KEY CARDS

Ever wonder what is on your magnetic key card?

Answer:
a. Customer's name
B. Customer's partial home address
c. Hotel room number
d. Check-in date and out dates
e. Customer's credit card number and expiration date!

When you turn
them in to the front desk your personal information is there for any employee
to access by simply scanning the card in the hotel scanner.. An employee can
take a hand full of cards home and using a scanning device, access the
information onto a laptop computer and go shopping at your expense.

Simply put, hotels do not erase the information on these cards until an
employee reissues the card to the next hotel guest. At that time, the new
guest's information is electronically 'overwritten' on the card and the
previous guest's information is erased in the overwriting process.

But until the card is rewritten for the next guest, it usually is kept in a
drawer at the front desk with YOUR INFORMATION ON IT!

The bottom line is: Keep the cards, take them home with you, or destroy them.
NEVER leave them
behind in the room or room wastebasket, and NEVER turn them into the front
desk when you check out of a room. They will not charge you for the card
(it's illegal) and you'll be sure you are not leaving a lot of valuable
personal information on it that could be easily lifted off with any simple
 scanning device card reader.

For the same reason, if you arrive at the airport and discover you still have
the card key in your pocket, do not toss it in an airport trash basket. Take
it home and destroy it by cutting it up, especially through the electronic
information strip!

If you have a small magnet, pass it across the magnetic strip several times..
Then try it in the door, it will not work. It erases everything on the card.

A new threat to our Earth

2010-06-11 Thread Saibaba SV
Reproduced from Yahoo News:

Will the Earth blackout in 2013?
By Piyali Dasgupta – June 9th, 2010
If you’ve had your fill of apocalyptic scenarios, earthquakes, volcanoes and
global warming, here comes a new threat which may wipe out the world in 2013.
Imagine a scene from any of Hollywood’s disaster films. An eerie scene where
mobile phones go on the blink, GPS is knocked out, TVs go blank and the world
is plunged into chaos.
Looks like disaster flicks aren’t too removed from reality since all this could
well be the potential result of a gigantic solar storm, according to a new
report by NASA. The report, a warning, says Earth and space are coming together
in a way that’s new to human history.
A solar storm, which is essentially violent eruptions in the sun, can eject
destructive radiation and charged particles into space. These are closely
connected to magnetic fields – which are hazardous for satellites and space
stations.
There are reports of a geomagnetic storm sparked by a huge solar flare that
swept over the Earth in 1859. Telegraph wires shorted out and set houses on
fire. A brilliant aurora was seen in Hawaii—so bright that “people could read
newspapers by [its] red and green glow.” Scientists predict that in May 2013,
the sun’s solar cycle will peak at about the same level as in 1859. (This
content courtesy a post onGawker.com)
High-tech systems are critical for life as we know it today. Everything that we
depend on and take for granted – air travel, GPS navigation, banking services
(even a credit card transaction uses a satellite) and emergency radio
communications – can all be knocked out by intense solar activity.
To get an idea of scale, a massive solar storm could result in 20 times more
damage than the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina which hit south-eastern
US in August 2005. The storm killed 1,800 people and caused damages worth $81
billion.
Some good news is that some of the damage and destruction can be avoided with
warning of an impending solar storm. There is technology to put satellites in
‘safe mode’ and disconnect transformers to protect them from destructive
electrical surges.
The task of accurately forecasting a solar storm lies with the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the US. “Space weather forecasting is
still in its infancy, but we’re making rapid progress,” said Thomas Bogdan,
director of NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center in Colorado.
The key for Bogdan lies in NASA and NOAA collaborating. “NASA’s fleet of
heliophysics research spacecraft provides us with up-to-the-minute information
about what’s happening on the sun. They are an important complement to our own
GOES and POES satellites, which focus more on the near-Earth environment.”
Says Bogdon, “I believe we’re on the threshold of a new era in which space
weather can be as influential in our daily lives as ordinary terrestrial
weather.”
So far, we’ve been lucky to escape any big solar storms. I guess we could send
Bruce Willis (a la Armageddon) to save us from the Sun in true Hollywood style.
But then I would rather wait for NASA and NOAA to save us from space weather.

New symbol for Indian Rupee

2010-06-24 Thread Saibaba SV

Cabinet to clear design for rupee symbol today

Thu, Jun 24 04:23 AM

The Indian rupee is likely to get its own unique symbol on Thursday, with the
Union Cabinet set to approve the final design. With this, the rupee will join
the elite league of global currencies like US dollar ($), British pound
sterling, euro and Japanese yen, which have their unique symbols.
In pictures: Rupee's New Avatar
The shortlisted design apparently plays on the Hindi letter 'R' with a
double-slash. The FE designers have conceptualised the design here.

The government has already shortlisted five entries after a pan-India open
contest which was advertised by the finance ministry in February 2009.
According to the terms of this contest, the winning design will become the
property of the government of India and the winner will have to surrender the
design copyright to in lieu of Rs 2.5 lakh.

According to design experts, formulating a unique currency symbol is extremely
difficult, made tougher by the requirement that it must be adaptable to
computer keyboards. The design will also have to be incorporated in currency
notes, which would mean asking printers abroad where the currency is printed to
make large-scale investments.

Russia too wanted a unique symbol for its currency in the 1990s. It is still
looking for a symbol to represent the rouble. Designing new symbols involves
rigorous testing as the symbol would be used across all technical applications
apart from widespread usage on the Web, mobile phones and banners, a designer
at a leading ad agency told FE.

The government decided to have a unique symbol for the Indian rupee as its
abbreviated form (Rs) is also represented by the currencies of Pakistan, Nepal,
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Last year, the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee had
made this announcement in his budget speech. In the ensuing year, we intend to
formalise a symbol for the Indian rupee, which reflects and captures the Indian
ethos and culture, Mukherjee had said then.

The Five Step Approach to Managing Anger

2010-06-29 Thread Saibaba SV
Today I read this useful article and want to share with the members:

S V SAIBABA

The Five Step Approach to Managing Anger

If something happens that makes you feel angry (like not being allowed to go to
a party until you clean your room), this approach can help you manage your
reaction.

It is called a problem-solving approach because you start with the problem you
are mad about. Then you weigh your choices and decide what you will do.

Each step involves asking yourself a couple of questions, then answering them
based on your particular situation. Let us take the example from the start of
this article: Your mom has just told you to clean your room or stay home. You
really want to go to that party. The red-hot anger starts building. Here is
what
to do:

1) Tune in to your feelings (self-awareness). Start by noticing what you are
angry about and why. Put into words what is making you upset so you can act
rather than react.

Ask yourself: What is got me angry? What am I feeling and why? You can do this
either in your mind or out loud, but it needs to be clear and specific. For
example: I am really angry at Mom because she wont let me go to the party
until
I clean my room. It is not fair! Your feeling is anger, and you are feeling
angry because you might not get to go to the party.

Notice that this is not the same as saying, Mom is so unfair to me. That
statement does not identify the specific problem (that you can not go to the
party until you clean your room) and it does not say how you are feeling
(angry).

2) Stop and think (self-control). This is where you stop for a minute to give
yourself time to manage your anger. It is also where you start thinking of how
you might react - but without reacting yet.

Ask yourself: What can I do? Think of at least three things. For example, in
this situation you might think:

(a) I could yell at Mom and throw a fit.
(b) I could clean my room and then ask if I could go to the party.
(c) I could sneak out to the party anyway.

3)Consider your options (think it through). This is where you think about what
is likely to result from each of the different reactions you came up with.

Ask yourself: What will happen for each one of these options? For example:

(a) Yelling at your mom may get you in worse trouble or even grounded.

(b) Cleaning your room takes work and you may get to the party late (but hey,
arriving late may add to your mystique). With this option, you get to go to the
party and your room is clean so you don not have to worry about it for a while.
(c) Sneaking out may seem like a real option in the heat of anger. But when you
really think it through, it is pretty unlikely you would get away with being
gone for hours with no one noticing. And when you do get caught - look out!

4) Make a decision (pick one of your options). This is where you take action by
choosing one of the three things you could do. Look at the list and pick the
one
that is likely to be most effective.

Ask yourself: What is my best choice? By the time you have thought it through,
you are probably past yelling at your mom, which is a knee-jerk response. You
may have also decided that sneaking out is too risky. Neither of these options
is likely to get you to the party. So option (b) probably seems like the best
choice.

Once you choose your solution, then it is time to act.

5) Check your progress. After you have acted and the situation is over, spend
some time thinking about how it went.

Ask yourself: How did I do? Did things work out as I expected? If not, why not?
Am I satisfied with the choice I made? Taking some time to reflect on how
things
worked out after it is all over is a very important step. It helps you learn
about yourself and it allows you to test which problem-solving approaches work
best in different situations.

Give yourself a pat on the back if the solution you chose worked out well. If
it
did not, go back through the five steps and see if you can figure out why.

These five steps are pretty simple when you are calm, but are much tougher to
work through when you are angry or sad (kind of like in basketball practice
when
making baskets is much easier than in a real game when the pressure is on!). So
it helps to practice over and over again.

Getting rid of stress,How to relieve stress

2010-06-29 Thread Saibaba SV
Another useful article, I want to share:
SVSAIBABA

Getting rid of stress,How to relieve stress;
Stress are some things that many individuals suffer with and they live day by
day with getting head aches, experiencing fatigued and several other health
problems.

At first, these health conditions may appear small but if the stress is not
handled they can get really big and really serious.

It really is super easy to lessen stress but in order to do the person must
want
to change.

The way to overcome stress is so simple but yet hard for those who endure it
everyday.

To start with inhale deep, and then out. Do this more than once until you start
feeling calm.
once you start to feel better look around you and begin to appreciate life. Be
fortunate for the day no matter the number of bad things have happened to you.
Spread a few words of encouragement around. Convey to someone that you are
pleased that they're working for you and give thanks to them for assisting you
out. The law of attraction will start to come about when you start becoming
grateful for little things such as a friendly relationship and the job you
have.
Ever thought about why somebody else might be better off or sometimes got
promoted ahead of you? Part of it might be because of the negative atmosphere
you have happening around you and to ensure those atmosphere to come off we
have
got to observe life in an alternative way. Once you are tired of having
problems
and being stomped on you'll hopefully learn to recognize that it is just not
worth it in life so you will support other people and brighten their day.

You would be surprised about how stress might not only effect you just how much
it can effect the other individuals around you. When you are trying to watch a
game on tv and someone comes in angry and starts to make a complaint about
their
day it takes away your amusement of the game and may perhaps even change your
mood. If you are working and you are always stressed, or if you are trying to
lose weight and stressed out about that instead of making other people near you
despondent or aggravated on you perform some relaxation meditations and point
out some affirmations outloud. Seek to change your mood as soon as you feel the
stress come on. One example is I am slimming down and my boss is happy with my
work. At the time you begin to voice one of those never state it as the future
tense but constantly in the now tense: IE: I am, not I will be.

Yet another way that one could overcome anxiousness is just simply going out
for
a stroll or doing a bit of exercising. The change of scenery and getting the
bloodstream moving helps out. The good thing is you really don't even have to
do
a 30 minute stroll or a one hour work out. All that you'll need to do is just a
10 or 15 minute walk and you'll feel much better. If you can't walk but
possibly
have some stairs going up and down those for a couple of minutes works just the
same.

If you think that the stress that you experienced is so unmanageable and there
is no way you could correct it or if you might be struggling with major
depression talking with your doctor or therapist may well be the greatest
alternative as they can provide you with either medication or some guidelines
to
get over it

For the information of Mediclaim policy holders

From Yahoo News:
IRDA to probe insurers axing cashless mediclaim

Mon, Jul 12 03:08 PM

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) on Sunday
said it has decided to examine the issue of insurance companies withdrawing the
cashless facility for hospitalisation of patients to mediclaim policy holders.
IRDA chairman Hari Narayan told Mail Today that 'appropriate action' would be
taken in the matter after discussing the issue with the concerned stakeholders.

Let us examine the issue. We are gathering the background information from the
insurers. We would then take appropriate action, J Hari Narayan told Mail
Today
on phone from IRDA's headquarters at Hyderabad. Asked whether there had been a
breach of trust between the mediclaim policy holders and the insurers, he
replied, Let me first get into the issue. It would be too early to make any
statement. The issue is being examined by us.

The move by insurance companies to withdraw the facility of cashless
hospitalisation has left the middle-class in a lurch.
At least 18 insurance companies, including public sector entities, have
withdrawn the cashless mediclaim policy facility and stopped direct payment of
treatment charges to high-end hospitals in Delhi, NCR and at other metros like
Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai from July 1.

The policy holders are fuming. They feel cheated. It's a breach of trust. I
availed the mediclaim policy for a year and paid Rs 30,000 for my family
members
where they offered me cashless hospitalisation. How can they write-off the
agreed contract, says Rajesh Kumar, a resident of North Delhi.

At least 100 hospitals in Delhi and NCR, besides other metros, have been taken
off the designated list of hospitals eligible to extend the cashless facility
of
treatment. These hospitals include high-end ones like Max or Medicity, Apollo,
Fortis, Ganga Ram and other big hospital chains in Delhi and NCR. Mediclaim
policy holders who want to avail the facilities at these hospitals, will now
have to pay. They can then claim the amount from the insurer with no guarantee
that the entire amount would be reimbursed.

Taking serious note of the issue Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday
said the state government would take every possible step to ensure that people
are not held to ransom in the fight between hospitals and insurance firms.

She promised to look into the issue. We will hold talks within a week and try
to find a solution to the problem, she said.

Terming it as a serious issue, Delhi health minister Kiran Walia said, We are
really concerned as we know the impact. We cannot allow somebody to hold the
patients to ransom in the fight (between insurers and hospitals), said the
health minister.

Industry bodies too have reacted sharply to the development. The chairman of
the
Federation of Indian Chambers for Commerce and Industry (Ficci) health services
committee, Anjan Bose, termed it a retrograde move.

This will put the policy holders, particularly the middle class patients, who
do not have ready cash available with them at a disadvantage. Such a step will
have adverse impact on the penetration of the health insurance market in
India,
Bose said.

Insurance companies have been providing cashless services at over 3,000
hospitals across the country. Dr KK Aggarwal, president of the Heart Care
Foundation of India, said the cap on charges for particular treatment by
insurance agencies is a right move. But why should the policy holders suffer,
he said

WIFE VS. HUSBAND

A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An

The Silent Treatment

A man and his wife were having someproblems at home and were giving each other

need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AMfor an early morning business flight. Not
wanting to be the first to

5:00 AM.' He left it where he knew she would find it.The next morning, the man
woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AMand he had missed his flight. Furious,
he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a

Fw: MICROWAVING WATER !

2010-07-23 Thread Saibaba SV
Important information.

A 26-year old man decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of water and
put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had done numerous
times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he wanted to
bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off, he removed the
cup
from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted that the! water was not
boiling, but suddenly the water in the cup 'blew up' into his face. The cup
remained intact until he threw it out of his hand, but all the water had
flown
out into his face due to the buildup of energy. His whole face is blistered
and
he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face which may leave scarring.

He also may have lost partial sight in his left eye. While at the hospital,
the
doctor who was attending to him stated that this is a fairly common
occurrence and water (alone) should never be heated in a microwave oven. If
water is heated in this manner, something should be placed in the cup to
diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir stick, tea bag, etc.., (nothing
metal).

General Electric's Response:

Thanks for contacting us, I will be happy to assist you. The e-mail that you
received is correct. Microwaved water and other liquids do not always bubble
when they reach the boiling point. They can actually get superheated and not
bubble at all. The superheated liquid will bubble up out of the cup when it is
moved or when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it.

To prevent this from happening and causing injury, do not heat any liquid for
more than two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the
microwave for thirty seconds! before moving it or adding anything into it.

Here is what our local science teacher had to say on the matter: 'Thanks for
the microwave warning. I have seen this happen before. It is caused by a
phenomenon known as super heating. It can occur anytime water is heated
and will particularly occur if the vessel that the water is heated in is new,
or when heating a small amount of water (less than half a cup).

What happens is that the water heats faster than the vapor bubbles can form.
If
the cup is very new then it is unlikely to have small surface scratches
inside
it that provide a place for the bubbles to form. As the bubbles cannot form
and
release some of the heat has built up, the liquid does not boil, and the
liquid
continues to heat up well past its boiling point.

What then usually happens is that the liquid is bumped or jarred, which is
just enough of a shock to cause the bubbles to rapidly form and expel the hot
liquid. The rapid formation of bubbles is also why a carbonated beverage spews
when opened after having been shaken.'
Snopes confirmed.
If you pass this on you could very well save someone from a lot of pain and
 suffering

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE USING FACEBOOK

Hacker Proves Facebook’s Public Data Is Public

Security specialist Ron Bowes has once again proven how easy it is to glean
valuable user information from Facebook, by spidering Facebook’s online
directory and compiling it all into one neat little torrent that could be
downloaded off his site, SkullSecurity.com.

Bowes created a torrent containing over 171 million entries with links to
profiles that provide access to the names, addresses and phone numbers of 100
million users, one fifth of Facebook.  Bowes accessed Facebook’s directory,
which has the default dictum “Anyone can opt out of appearing here by changing
their Search privacy settings.” Yeah, but should they have to?

These kinds of security breaches will only encourage more hackers desperate for
attention. Now would be a good time for Facebook to set their default search to
“Friends Only.” Why? Because most people are aren’t quite aware that check mark
next to “Everyone” includes a hacker who can grab your personal info, package
it
up and sell it to the highest bidder.

According to Bowes the torrent contains (at 2.8 GB, our torrent is “still
downloading”) …

The URL of every searchable Facebook user’s profile.

The name of every searchable Facebook user, both unique and by count (perfect
for post-processing, datamining, etc).
Processed lists, including first names with count, last names with count,
potential usernames with count, etc.
The programs [Bowes] used to generate everything [which makes it easy for other
hackers to replicate the process]

While the advice to an individual user to change your privacy settings may be
moot at this point, the suggestion that Facebook make it profiles unindexable
by
default isn’t. Especially when you read the more ominous statement from Bowes
further on in his post on the breach, “So far, I have only indexed the
searchable users, not their friends … I’d like to tackle that in the future.”

Happy Friendship Day !

For some people friendship is everything and every person has some view about
friendship. A famous quote by Anais Nin says: “Each friend represents a world
in
us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting
that a new world is born.”
Friendship day is the day of celebrations of the most warm feelings of the
heart: Friendship. It is celebrated on the first Sunday of August every year.
Friendship day 2010 is on 1st of August.

It was in 1935 when the idea of dedicating a day in honor of friends was
conceived. US Congress proclaimed that there should be some day dedicated to
friendship. They chose it to be the first Sunday of August. This charming idea
was joyfully accepted by several other countries across the world. Since then
friendship day has become an annual day for reflecting on sacred feeling of
friendship.

Here are a few interesting facts about the International Friendship day:
* The United Nations named Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of
Friendship in 1997.
* Women’s Friendship Day is on the 3rd Sunday of September. So, dear
girls, do
not forget to celebrate this special day.
* International Friendship month is February.
* The 3rd week of May is called Old friends, New friends week.
* Dia del Amigo is Spanish Friendship day that is celebrated every year
on July
20.

40 US billionaires pledge to give away half their wealth

2010-08-05 Thread Saibaba SV

From Yahoo.News:

Thu, Aug 5 11:13 AM

Forty US billionaires pledged to give away at least half of their wealth to
philanthropic purpose in response to a campaign by Microsoft chief Bill Gates
and legendary investor Warren Buffet.
Among those who pledged their contributions are New York mayor Michael
Bloomberg, noted Hollywood director George Lucas and media mogul Ted Turner.

The group today joined six other billionaires who had already made previous
pledges, which includes Gates and Buffet who launched an initiative asking
fellow billionaires to share a sizeable chunk of their wealth during their
lifetime or after their death for humanitarian cause.
The US has 403 billionaires in the world - the most in the world, and New York
tops the list within the country.

Buffet, who heads the insurance and investment company Berkshire Hathaway Inc,
has pledged 99 per cent of his wealth.

In 2006, I made a commitment to gradually give all of my Berkshire Hathaway
stock to philanthropic foundations. I couldn't be happier with that decision,
he wrote in a pledge letter.
Now, Bill and Melinda Gates and I are asking hundreds of rich Americans to
pledge at least 50 per cent of their wealth to charity.

In his pledge, Bloomberg underlined the need for rich people to give away their
wealth now and not wait until they were dead.

The reality of great wealth is that you can't spend it and you can't take it
with you, he said.
And so I am enthusiastically taking the Giving Pledge, and nearly all of my
net
worth will be given away in the years ahead or left to my foundation.

The campaign does not require billionaires to make donations to The Giving
Pledge, but only to give away their wealth in some charitable cause of their
own
choice.

George Lucas, creator of Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies, highlighted the
need for reforming the education system in the US, to something more than an
assembly line with producing diplomas as its only goal.

When I was in high school, I felt like I was in a vacuum, biding time. I was
curious, but bored. It was not an atmosphere conducive to learning, Lucas
wrote, noting that he started 'Edutopia and the George Lucas Educational
Foundation' to push educational innovation.

Storytellers are teachers and communicators who speak a universal language.
That was Homer's primary role, and both Plato and Aristotle used narratives and
dialogues as a means of educating, he said.

In his letter, Ted Turner talked about the strong impression his father's
philanthropic efforts like - supporting tuition of two African-American
students
in the late 1950s - had left on him.

The media mogul noted that the contributions of more than USD 1.3 billion to
various causes over the years was one of his best investments.

Those dollars have improved lives, saved species, fought disease, educated
children, inspired change, challenged ideas and opened minds; and at the time
of
my death, virtually all of my wealth will have gone to charity, he said.

Bill Gates, who has a net worth of USD 53 billion, is the second richest man in
the world, according to Forbes magazine.

He was dethroned from the number one spot, this year by Mexican
telecommunications czar Carlos Slim Helu with a net worth of USD 53.5 billion.

Bill and Melinda Gates have given more than USD 28 billion to their foundation
since it was founded in 1994.

We have committed the vast majority of our assets to the Bill amp; Melinda
Gates Foundation to help stop preventable deaths such as these, and to tear
down
other barriers to health and education that prevent people from making the very
most of their lives, Gates wrote.

Below are details on how much they are worth, based on data from Forbes
magazine, and how they made their fortune.

Bill and Melinda Gates -- founder of software giant Microsoft and the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation; worth $53.5 billion.

Warren Buffett -- famed investor who made his fortune through his Berkshire
Hathaway firm, which buys companies he sees as undervalued; worth $47 billion

Eli Broad -- the real estate and construction billionaire founded home builder
Kaufman amp; Broad, worth $5.7 billion; has already given more than $2 billion
to The Broad Foundations; worth $5.9 billion.

John Doerr -- venture capitalist with Kleiner Perkins Caufield amp; Byers who
made millions with early bets on Amazon, Netscape and Sun Microsystems and
became a billionaire with Google; worth $1.7 billion.

Gerry Lenfest -- the media entrepreneur has already given away more than $800
million, or about 65 percent of his fortune, a spokeswoman said.

John Morgridge -- Former Cisco Systems chairman now focuses on philanthropy;
worth $1.6 billion.
Paul Allen -- Founded software giant Microsoft with Gates; worth $13.5 billion.

Laura and John Arnold -- John Arnold worked as a high-flying trader at Enron

Fw: Touching life story.....

2010-08-07 Thread Saibaba SV

Touching life story.

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For
many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's
showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told
him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited
signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the
morning of his graduation his father called him into his private
study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine
son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son
a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man
opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily,
he raised his voice at his father and said, With all your money you
give me a Bible? and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy
book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in
business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his
father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He
had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make
arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had
passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He
needed to come home immediately and take care things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and
regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father's important papers and
saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With
tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he
read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope
taped behind the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the
sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation,
 and the words...PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not
 packaged as we expected?

Fw: Ship Wreck

2010-08-08 Thread Saibaba SV

Ship Wreck

A ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were
able
to swim to a small desert like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else
to do, agreed that they have no other recourse but to pray to God for help.

However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they decided to divide the
territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a
fruit-bearing tree on his side of the island, and he was able to eat its fruit.
The other man's parcel of land remained barren.

After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The
next day, there was another ship wreck, and the only survivor was a woman who
swam to his side of the island. On the other side of the island, there still
was
nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, and more food. The next day,
like magic, all of these things were given to him. However, the second man
still
had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave
the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked on his side of the island.
The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second
man
on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God's blessings,
since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven
boom-out, Why are you leaving your companion on the island?

My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them, the
first man answered. His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve
anything.

You are mistaken! the voice rebuked him. He had only one prayer, which I
answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.

Tell me, the first man asked the voice, what did he pray for that I should
owe him anything?

He prayed that all your prayers would be answered.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but
those of another praying for us. This is too good not to share.

With obedience and love for others come blessings. My prayer for you today is
that all your prayers will be answered. Be blessed.

What you do for others is more important than what you do for yourself.

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an
order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets.

I asked for a half dozen nuggets.

'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter.

'You don't?' I replied.

'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply.

'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?'

'That's right.'

So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets

(Unbelievable but sadly true...)

TWO

I was checking out at the local Walmart with just a few items and the lady
behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those

'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things
so they wouldn't get mixed.

After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the 'divider',
looking
it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.

Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this
is?' I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'

She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.

She had no clue to what had just happened.

'Do you need some help?' I asked.

She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door

convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?'

'Hmmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked.

'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me.
As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you
drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk'

PLEASE just lay down before you hurt yourself !!!

Fw: Take Care and Beware !

2010-09-30 Thread Saibaba SV

Take Care and Beware !

Are you consuming your daily recommended number of fruits ?
Beware, you may also be consuming more than your daily allotment of PESTICIDES.
Peaches top the list of most pesticide-ridden fruits, with some combination of
up to 53 pesticides found on all the peaches in the study...yikes. With their
relatively thin skin, peeling and washing can only do so much, so this one tops
the list of fruits to definitely buy organic whenever possible.

An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but too many conventionally-grown
apples might eventually send you to the doctor. Apples had 50 different
pesticides found on them, so if you pick apples instead of gum to fight bad
breath, pick organic apples

With 97.3 percent of the samples testing positive for pesticides, nectarines
are third on the list of fruits with a high pesticide load. 85.3 percent of the
samples of the fruit known by some as peaches without the fuzz had multiple
pesticides on a single sample -- the second-highest number, behind peaches.

With 38 different pesticides found, strawberries check in as the fourth fruit
to
buy organic whenever possible. And, without a skin, there isn't much between
you
and whatever has happened to accumulate on the berries.

Cherries are the next fruit on the list of the 12 most contaminated fruits,
that, when combined with commonly pesticide-laden vegetables, will expose a
person to about 10 pesticides per day, on average.

Imported grapes earned the spot as sixth-dirtiest fruit on the list;
interestingly, grapes grown in the U.S. Also earn a spot, though further down
the list.

Pears are next on the list, based on the six methods that each piece of fruit
was tested by: percent of the samples tested with detectable pesticides, and
percent with two or more pesticides; average number of pesticides found on a
sample, and average amount (level in parts per million) of all pesticides
found,
maximum number of pesticides found on a single sample, and number of pesticides
found in total. Given all that, that pears are in the middle of the pack.

Raspberries check in at number eight on the list. And what damage could a
little
pesticide on a little raspberry do? According to a study in the journal
Occupational and Environmental Medicine found that people who had been exposed
to even low levels of pesticides were found to be 1.13 times as likely to have
Parkinson's disease as those who had never been exposed.

Grapes are back on the list, this time for those grown in the U.S. And, while
grapes aren't regularly peeled before they're eaten, they should definitely
still be washed, because washing does reduce levels of some pesticides.
However,
other pesticides are also taken up internally into the plant, are in the fruit,
and cannot be washed off.

Plums round out the top 10. Like the other stone fruits on the list, they're
tough to scrub, and aren't really receptive to quick 'n easy peeling, so going
organic is your best bet for healthy, clean plums. And, while scientists from
Israel have been able to genetically modify plums to deliver a huge payload of
antioxidants, we still have to ask, is it worth the potential risk?

Oranges go to eleven on the list. Part of the reason they're further down is
that they have a thick rind that is often discarded (or composted, though
orange
peels show surprising promise as feedstock for ethanol as well) rather than
eaten, as with stone fruits, grapes, and other fruits with edible skins. Still,
if you like to cook with zest of the rind and want to minimize your risk from
one of the most-consumed fruits, stick with organic oranges.

Rounding out the list are tangerines. Similar to an orange (and sometimes
mistaken for them), the tangerine tends to be smaller, and many have thinner
rinds than most oranges. That means a bit less real estate for
pesticide-blocking.

Fw: CELL PHONES AND HEALTH

2010-09-30 Thread Saibaba SV

One of the most common sights we see these days, is that of people with their
mobile phones next to their ears. A boon for better communication, cell phone
usage nonetheless has many health hazards.

Various studies indicate that the emissions from a cell phone can be extremely
harmful, causing genetic damage, tumors, memory loss, and increased blood
pressure and weakening of the immune system. This is alarming information, and
one has to take into account all these factors..

CELL PHONES AND HEALTH
Though there is no evidence of cell phones causing cancer or any such illness,
but the suspicion, or fear of the same is not baseless either. The
electromagnetic radiation from cell phones does have a potential link to
cancer.
The fact that this radiation is invisible, intangible, and enters and leaves
our
bodies without our knowledge makes it even more intimidating.

Possible hazards:
* Two minutes of exposure to emissions from mobile phones can disable a safety
barrier in blood causing proteins and toxins to leak into the brain, could
increase chances of developing Alzheimer's multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's.
(Scientists at Sweden's Lund University)
* Scientists say exposure to the phones' low-level radiation causes red blood
cells to leak hemoglobin and can lead to heart disease and kidney stones.
* Recent studies suggesting a link between cell-phone use and brain tumors, and
the possibility that the microwaves could ignite petroleum fumes at gas
stations.
* A cell phone unit, or communications tower, has so many of thee radiation
emanating gadgets. This can be a problem for its immediate environment.

Fw: The TRUTH ABOUT COCONUT OIL

2010-10-26 Thread Saibaba SV
Forwading this useful article since it is very informative...

S.V.Sai baba

.

 The Truth about Coconut Oil
The truth about coconut oil is obvious to anyone who has studied the health of
those who live in traditional tropical cultures, where coconut has been a
nutritious diet staple for thousands of years.
Back in the 1930's, a dentist named Dr. Weston Price traveled throughout the
South Pacific, examining traditional diets and their effect on dental and
overall health. He found that those eating diets high in coconut products
were
healthy and trim, despite the high fat concentration in their diet, and that
heart disease was virtually non-existent.
Similarly, in 1981, researchers studied populations of two Polynesian atolls.
Coconut was the chief source of caloric energy in both groups. The results,
published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,[2] demonstrated that
both populations exhibited positive vascular health.

In fact, no evidence exists that the naturally occurring high saturated fat
intake had any kind of harmful effect in these populations!

That's not what you expected, is it? Based on 60 years of negative public
policy
towards naturally occurring saturated fats, you would expect these cultures
to
be rife with clogged arteries, obesity and heart disease.
It may be surprising for you to realize that the naturally occurring
saturated
fat in coconut oil actually has some amazing health benefits, such as:

  * Promoting your heart health[3]
  * Promoting weight loss, when needed[4]
  * Supporting your immune system health[5]
  * Supporting a healthy metabolism[6]
  * Providing you with an immediate energy source[7]
  * Keeping your skin healthy and youthful looking
  * Supporting the proper functioning of your thyroid gland[8]
But how is this possible?
Does coconut oil have some secret ingredients not found in other saturated
fats?

The answer is a resounding yes.
Coconut Oil's Secret Ingredient
50 percent of the fat content in coconut oil is a fat rarely found in nature
called lauric acid. If you're a frequent reader of my newsletter you already
know that I consider lauric acid a miracle ingredient because of its unique
health promoting properties.
Your body converts lauric acid into monolaurin, which has anti-viral,
anti-bacterial and anti-protozoa properties.[9]

Monolaurin is a monoglyceride which can actually destroy lipid coated viruses
such as:
   * HIV, herpes
   * Measles
   * Influenza virus
   * Various pathogenic bacteria
   * Protozoa such as giardia lamblia.
Lauric acid is a powerful virus and gram-negative bacteria destroyer, and
coconut oil contains the most lauric acid of any substance on earth!
Capric acid, another coconut fatty acid present in smaller amounts, has also
been added to the list of coconut's antimicrobial components.
This is one of the key reasons you should consider consuming coconut oil,
because there aren't many sources of monolaurin in our diet. But the health
benefits of coconut oil don't stop there.

The Benefits of Medium-Chain Fatty Acids
Coconut oil is about 2/3 medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), also called
medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs. These types of fatty acids produce a whole
host of health benefits.
Coconut oil is nature's richest source of these healthy MCFAs.
By contrast, most common vegetable or seed oils are comprised of long chain
fatty acids (LCFAs), also known as long-chain triglycerides or LCTs.
Let me tell you why these long-chain fatty acids are not as healthy for you as
the MCFAs found in coconut oil[10] :
   * LCFAs are difficult for your body to break down -- they require
 special
enzymes for digestion.

   * LCFAs put more strain on your pancreas, liver and your entire
 digestive
system.

   * LCFAs are predominantly stored in your body as fat.
   * LCFAs can be deposited within your arteries in lipid forms such as
cholesterol.

   * In contrast to LFCAs, the MCFAs found in coconut oil have many health
benefits, including the following beneficial qualities:

   * MCFAs are smaller. They permeate cell membranes easily, and do not
 require
special enzymes to be utilized effectively by your body.

   * MCFAs are easily digested, thus putting less strain on your digestive
 system.

   * MCFAs are sent directly to your liver, where they are immediately
 converted
into energy rather than being stored as fat.

   * MCFAs actually help stimulate your body's metabolism, leading to
 weight loss.

Coconut Oil Helps Fight Diabetes
Your body sends medium-chain fatty acids directly to your liver to use as
energy. This makes coconut oil a powerful source of instant energy to your
body,
a function usually served in the diet by simple carbohydrates.

But although coconut oil and simple carbohydrates share the ability to deliver
quick energy

She was my so called 'best friend'.
I stared at her long, silky hair,

But she didn't notice me like that,
And I knew it.
After class,
She walked up to me and asked me for
The notes she had missed the day before.
I handed them to her.She said 'thanks'
And gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her, I want her to know
That I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
And I don't know why.

11th grade:-
The phone rang. On the other end,
It was her. She was in tears,
Mumbling on and on about how
Her love had broke her heart.
She asked me to come over
Because she didn't want to be alone, So I did.
As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her
Soft eyes, wishing she was mine.
After 2 hours, one Drew Barrymore movie,
And three bags of chips,
She decided to go home.
She looked at me, said 'thanks'
And gave me a kiss
On the cheek..I want to tell her,
I want her to know that

Senior Year:-
One fine day she walked to my locker.
'My date is sick' she said,
'hes not gonna go' well,
I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,
We made a promise that
If neither of us had dates,
We would go together just as 'best friends'.
So we did.
That night, after everything was over,
I was standing at her front door step.
I stared at her as She smiled at me
And stared at me with her crystal eyes.
Then she said- 'I had the best time, thanks!'
And gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
That I don't want to be just friends,

Before I could blink, it was graduation day.
I watched as her perfect body
Floated like an angel
Up on stage to get her diploma.
I wanted her to be mine-but
She didn't notice me like that, and I knew it.
Before everyone went home,
She came to me in her smock and hat,
And cried as I hugged her.
Then she lifted her head from my shoulder
And said- 'you're my best friend,
Thanks''s and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
That I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
And I don't know why.

Marriage:-
Now I sit in the pews of the church.
That girl is getting married now.
And drive off to her new life,
Married to another man.
I wanted her to be mine,
But she didn't see me like that,
And I knew it.
But before she drove away,
She came to me and said 'you came !'.
She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
That I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
And I don't know why.

Death:-
Years passed, I looked down at the coffin
Of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.
At the service, they read a diary entry
She had wrote in her high school years.
This is what it read:
'I stare at him wishing he was mine,
But he doesn't notice me like that,
And I know it.
I want to tell him,
I want him to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love him but I'm just too shy,
And I don't know why.
I wish he would tell me he loved me !

...'I Wish I Did Too...'

Fw: How you spend your thoughts

2010-10-28 Thread Saibaba SV

How are you spending your precious, powerful thoughts? Are
You spending them on the things you desire or on the things
You detest?

Would you waste your money buying things you didn't even
Want? It makes no more sense to waste your thoughts on those
Things you don't want.

Your life unfolds in accordance with your most pervasive
Thoughts. Your actions, and the results they bring, flow
Directly from what you think from moment to moment.

Can you create and nourish a rich and detailed vision of
Yourself living the life you wish to live? Yes, of course
You can.

Allow yourself to fashion that vision, to nourish it, to
Expand upon it with your thoughts, and by so doing, to truly
Live it. The more you focus your thoughts on what you do
Desire, the more surely you bring those desires to life.

Make positive and meaningful use of the awesome power of
Your thoughts. Where your thoughts most frequently go, your
Life will surely and quickly follow.

Fw: Letter to God- Too Funny

2010-10-28 Thread Saibaba SV

You may have read this before, but sending it to you to bring a smile again.

There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job was to process all
the
mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a
shaky
handwriting to God with no actual address. He thought he should open it to
 see
what it was about.

The letter read:

Dear God,

I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday
someone
stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my
 next
 pension payment.

Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for
dinner.
Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with, have no family to turn
to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me?

Sincerely, Edna

The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other
workers.
Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the
time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which they put into an
envelope
and sent to the woman.

The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and
 the
dinner she would be able to share with her friends.

Christmas came and went..

A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All
 the
workers gathered around while the letter was opened.

It read:

Dear God,

How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your
gift
of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very
nice
day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift.

By the way, there was $4 missing.

I think it might have been those bastards at the post office!!!.

Fw: Benefits of Sweet Potato (lowers hypertension, bad cholesterol and blood sugar)

2010-11-01 Thread Saibaba SV

Here's another health tip.

REALLY!!!

Did you know that SWEET POTATO (kamote)far exceeds the nutrition and health
values of rice?

Here are the benefits of substituting rice with kamote:

1. Sweet potatois more filling and suppresses hunger pangs longer. It is also
cheaper than rice.

2. Unlike rice, it is easy to grow. It grows in backyards with or without
fertilizers. Local government executives can provide their poor communities
with
idle government land for planting kamotewhich the entire community can share.

3. Unlike rice which needs to be eaten with a dish, sweet potato tastes good
and
can be eaten by itself. Thus, substituting rice with sweet potatosaves money
for
other needs.

4. Rice cannot match the nutritional values of sweet potato.Because rice
converts to sugar in the body, the Philippinesregisters as a top producer of
diabetics in the world.
The poor tends to load up on rice and less on the dish which are more
expensive.
That makes them vulnerable to diabetes, an ailment known in developed
countries
as a rich man’s disease.

5. The nutritional values of a3 oz. baked sweet potato are: calories 90, fat 0
g, saturated fat0 g, cholesterol0 mg, carbohydrate21 g, protein2 g, dietary
fiber3 g, sodium36 mg, vitamin A19,218 IU, folic acid6 micrograms, pantothenic
acid1 mg, vitamin B61 mg, vitamin C20 mg, vitamin E1 mg, calcium38
mg,manganese1 mg, carotenoids11,552 mcg, potassium475 mg and magnesium45 mg.

Compare that to a 100 g serving of white rice with: calories361 kcal,
water10.2
g, total fat0.8g, dietary fiber0.6 g, calcium8 mg, phosphorous87 mg,
potassium111 mg, sodium31 mg, vitamin B10.07 mg, vitamin B20.02 mg, niacin1.8
g, protein 6 g and carbohydrates82 g.
6. Too much rice consumption can make you sick, but sweet potato (kamote)can
bring you to health and keep away some health problems. These have been proved
medically.

In a medical documentary I watched recently on KBS World (theSouth Korean TV
Network),I was awed by the results of the researchthe Koreansconducted on the
nutritional and medicinal benefits ofkamote(which they refer to as sweet
potato).

In that Koreanmedical documentary I watched (which I followed through the
English subtitles), they presented the research findings on people with
established health problems who were placed on a kamote/sweet potatodiet.

Believe it or not– sweet potato (kamote)lowers hypertension, bad
cholesteroland
evenblood sugarwhen eaten as SUBSTITUTE TO RICE!
Thepurplesweet potato (kamote) is particularly effective forlowering
hypertension.

Not only that, theKorean medical documentarycredits thesweet potato (kamote)
as
high fiberand is one of the best foods that one can eat to prevent cancer!

For those who are only impressed byUSdoctors, read this:
the North Carolina Stroke Association, American Cancer Society, and the
American
Heart Association have all endorsed the sweetpotatofor its disease prevention
and healing qualities.

The Americans, the South Koreans– both progressive nations – have raised
thekamote to a high pedestal. Many of them even call the sweet potatoa “super
food that heals.”

Michelle the Maharani: Glamorous First Lady is an Indian queen at lavish state
dinner
Last updated at 7:42 AM on 9th November 2010
A radiant Michelle Obama stole the spotlight from her husband again at a state
dinner in India on Monday night.

The First Lady shimmered in a glamorous full-length skirt cinched in with a
jewel-encrusted waistband. Unusually, she kept her toned arms covered by a pale
brown top - perhaps as a gesture of respect to her Indian hosts.

The First Lady wore her hair down and an Indian-inspired top with her
glittering
belt and floor-length skirt

Michelle Obama offered a toast to India's President President Pratibha Patil
during the state dinner, held in a tent with over 100 guests

Earlier in the day she pumped her fists to female power and told inquisitive
schoolgirls that her husband apologised first when the couple argued.

President Barack Obama and the First Lady were the guests of honour at the
glittering banquet held by Indian President Pratibha Patil at the presidential
house Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi Monday night.

In his toast the President jokingly acknowledged his wife's dance moves, which
have dominated the press during their three-day visit to India.

Obama said his wife will always be a better dancer than he is and that on their
trip to India 'she has turned into a better dancer' thanks to the Bollywood
routine she picked up.

The President also acknowledged India's many 'strong woman leaders.'
Earlier in the day the couple took off their shoes to visitthe site where
Gandhi
was cremated.

The Obamas, in their stockinged feet, helped lay a large white wreath on a
flower-covered tablet in front of an eternal flame. Heads bowed, they observed
a
moment of silence before tossing flower petals onto the platform.

The First Lady wore her hair up and recycled the belt she wore on Saturday as
she tossed flowers at the Gandhi memorial

That is the custom for entering Raj Ghat, a sunken grass courtyard memorial to
Gandhi.
It was the second time the Obamas had paid respects to Gandhi during their
first
official visit to India. In Mumbai on Saturday, the coupled visited a home in a
museum where Gandhi once lived.
Michelle Obama also took a solo trip to meet with schoolgirls and visited a
craft museum.

She advised the girls to study hard and be educated. She also said she likes to
exercise because 'women have to stay strong'.
After the tour, the group sat under a canopy of trees and shared mango juice
while Mrs Obama answered their questions.
Manpreet Kaur, 14, who had travelled by overnight train from her village in
Punjab, asked the first lady if American girls struggled like those in India
with the issue of gender preference for men.
Mrs Obama replied that things in the US had improved and there now were as many
women in universities as men.

Mrs Obama talked to schoolgirls about how she likes to stay strong with
exercise
and how her husband apologises first when the pair get into a fight

The First Lady tried on a beaded necklace at the National Crafts Museum and
ended up buying an armful of bracelets, perhaps for daughters Sasha and Malia,
who did not come along on the trip to Asia

Manpreet followed up with another tough question, asking whether Mrs Obama or
the president had to apologise first after they have an argument.
'She said of course the president makes up first,' the girl said, drawing
giggles from the rest of the group. The girls said they were surprised by the
answer and would go home and tell their mothers.
Mrs Obama greeted the 10 to 14-year-olds under a peepal tree, a tree of worship
considered the personification of Buddha in India.
With the museum director, the US ambassador's wife and a translator, Mrs Obama
and the girls toured the National Crafts Museum's terra-cotta animal statues,
bronzed Hindu gods, replicated village huts and painted scrolls of mythical
kings.
Most of the children are the first girls in their families to study.
The low-key school trip was the first lady's last solo outing in
