today I tried a webinar with 8 members - with me as moderator/presenter.

After a few minutes the viewers not see me. Behind the chat-Tab are the 
red error-messages "Multimedia inaccessible".

But: at two viewers all is OK: They se my video and hear my voice.

I started my script to restart KMS, coturn and tomcat. The 2 viewers see 
and hear me further, the other had no video, no audio

and, behind the chat-tab "Multimedia inaccessible".

I tried to restart separately KMS and coturn, cause it is fast to 
restart this. (Tomcat neeeds after a reboot 15 minutes to come up, with 
a restart it needs 30 seconds.)

"Multimedia inaccessible".

I canceled my webinar after 15 minutes and many restarts of the services.

My system:
Internet: 1GBit sym.

Hello,

today I had a manager (a little older one) who try the first time "such 
modern thing like a online-conference".


I sent him an invitation-email and he made three (or more) times a 
doube-click on the link.

I see his name a lot of in the client-list.

After that I see the red error "no multimedia" (or sth. like that).

I restarted KMS and Tomcat and all is OK again.

Is it possible to avoid that? Maybe only one connection per invitation?

rate, 32k bitrate).

While the 1,5h conference every participant must from time to
time make a new login. At first the video goes slwoly (end
stand still), the voice
is clanking, than they must login new. After that all is OK.
Good video, good sound.

I use a 100MBit synchronous Fiberchannel for our OM-server.

It was a conference between the CEO's from me and another
"global player".
It bugs me that the CEO's from the other side said that "Zoom
runs better". (They hat tested Zoom the last weeks.)



Is there a possibility to make our OM "more tolerant"?

Hello Maxim,

I think hard about your roadway to implement my wish "link with 
room-name instead of room-ID".


In my opinion it's not necessary that you make such a lot of work for 
this feature.

It will be enough when you "only" expand the processing of the link.

Currently it processes e.g.
- ...5443/openmeetings/#room/46 -> call a room with user-login)
- 
...5443/openmeetings/hash?invitation=83a94e03-4b72-4983-b178-e14575260b12=2 
-> call a room with an invitation


My suggestion: Please add a new processing,
e.g. "...5443/openmeetings/#roomname/ROOMNAME" (or something like that)

After you detect this parameter identify the room-ID of that ROOMNAME. 
And when its unique you have the number to make your "normal" process 
further.


(Maybe its a great idea to write this in the great new manual. I think 
there are another people who made a permanant link on the desktop of 
their CEO's - like me.
And it is less funny to  go there after every update of OM to modify the 
room-number.)

I'm afraid this will be too much changes for M4 due to
1) Additional DB column have to be added (the form already have 
plenty of columns :( )

2) the values for this column should be unique if not empty
3) backup restore should be tuned to correctly work with possible 
duplicated values
4) link generation should be updated to generate links with name (if 
present)

5) link parser should parse both names and numbers

When I do this with the first icon "garbage can" then the whiteboard is 
not empty.


Please, can anybody test following:

with full-drop database.
(My idea was a manual for update from any lower-version to a higher one 
with a emty database, filled with backup from a running version.)


I had problems with create a new database and import my backup.
(I tried in one step but there I got an error, so I make two steps.

I copy from my my running OM: server.xml, 
mysql-connector-java-8.0.18.jar, persistence.xml and 
applicationContext.xml.

(So I have certificates, correct databaye-access and my coturn-config.)

mysql -u root -p
DROP DATABASE openmeetings;
CREATE DATABASE openmeetings DEFAULT CHARACTER SET 'utf8';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON openmeetings.* TO 'OMDBUser'@'localhost' 
IDENTIFIED BY 'DBsecret' WITH GRANT OPTION;
(After that I have a new empty database with access from my OM-DB-User 
to the openmeetings-database.)


./admin.sh -i -v -tz Europe/Berlin -email my-own-admin-em...@address.xy 
-group webbase -user admin --password adminSecret --skip-default-objects

./admin.sh -r -file backup-file-from-my-running-previous-version.zip
/etc/init.d/tomcat3 stop

(Wait a long long time - 10 minutes... After that my log shows that OM

Hm, after that I expect that is running -  but I run into the installer.

But after login I run in an internal error - an "unexpected" one.

yesterday I tried to work with a tablet (10') and my smartphone.
On both devices I only using the touchscreen - many things are difficult 
to use.
Generally its possible and OM is working without errors.  Some things 
are impossible - e.g. changing the position of a border.
(I add a mouse (over a USB-Adapter) at the tablet - nice and funny to 
work with it. But its no solution for everyone.)
Many people are "married" with their mobile device, so they wants to use 
it with OM.

Hello Maxim,

i have it checked.

I restore my configuration from yesterday-backup and start my M3-version.
All OK, I generate an invitation-link, the "no-rights-only-viewer-user" 
can login, it can see and no modify: All OK.

When I update from the M3 to the newest M4 my 
"no-rights-only-viewer-user" can modify the whiteboard.

When I check on the flags "moderated" and "Wait moderator" nothing happenes.
The "no-rights-only-viewer-user" can login with my generated link, get 
the window who ask the name and can modify the whiteboard.

Hint: I have no backup from my MySQL-database before I try out the 
M4-version the first time.

So every of my tries are with the same database.

it's a little bit difficult to know where you have the problem.

I think you have the certificates for your domain.

cert.pem
chain.pem
fullchain.pem
privkey.pem

Then you have to edit your "conf/server.xml" and make (or modify) the 
following lines like this.



   
    certificateFile="/etc/letsencrypt/live/YOURDOMAIN/cert.pem"

certificateKeyFile="/etc/letsencrypt/live/YOURDOMAIN/privkey.pem"
certificateChainFile="/etc/letsencrypt/live/YOURDOMAIN/fullchain.pem" />
   


After that your Tomcat is able to work with port 5443 and the right 
certificates.


Hint: By me I work with a subdomain on a server behint a NAT. Here 
follows that I have to modify the DNS record to the IP-adress of my own 
router, there a forwarding.

If your problem is here let me know.

sharing-icon (top right) when I switched on sharing/recording.
By me I had to exit the room (as moderator a bad idea) and enter again. 
And then I dont know if recording do or not.


In your case: Is the icon the whole time away?

not in the room.


Actually everyone who enter the room see the whiteboard, chat and so on.
I want to show a picture (before beginning) where the viewers see a 
little picture and something like "Please wait, it's beginning at 00:00..."

slow down the other features.

Screen-sharing window is usually huge this is why user can close
it any time and re-open by clicking same icon
Maybe sort of "text info popup" can help?
