[vchkpw] timeout error while connecting to Qmail
Dear All I am running qmail with VPopmail. In my scenario, I have SMTP gateway which deliver and receive all mails from outside and deliver all mails to Qmail. ON my smtp gateway I am running sendmail latest version. All mails are coming to this smtp gateway and while delivering to qmail, I am getting this kind of error in my sendmail log. Hi All I already Posted that Question but can't give any success of any replied message. Plz give me any solution of that problem. I am making a Application in .NEt in which i am using pop accounts from Qmail server. When i configure account for pop mail from Qmails. It gives me error in .NEt like that Socket Closed and on QMail server i am getting error in that format in the Maillog. Jun 1 07:18:07 mail1 vpopmail[28975]: vchkpw: password fail [EMAIL PROTECTED]:211.114.109.6 its adding Ip after email from where request is generating. How can i remove that ip after the email. Hi All I have installed Qmail on linux 7.2 with vpopmail support and relay-ctrl patch. I am trying to pop my mails from that qmail mail on other application server through remote pop accounts procedure. When i give him user name as email and send password then Qmail server reject that password and append the IP after the email, although user name and password is correct, i check it manually on telnet. But giving me error of that kind. May 6 07:52:21 mail2 vpopmail[25532]: vchkpw: password fail [EMAIL PROTECTED]:211.117.134.11 What's and where it is wrong. bcz of ip concatenating pop server unable to authenticate that user. [vchkpw] System virtual User Authentication
hi All I post that questoin many Times but did not get any valid reply. Theproblem was that i have running some virtual domains on linux server with qmail.I have some default linux users and many vritual domain users. The virtual domain user successfully authenticated with vchkpw but defualt users failed to authenticate himself through pop and imap. As i have done while installing vpopmail , and enable-passwed=y but did not get any success. So my question is that Can i authenticate both virtual domain and defualt user with pop3 and imap. ? hi All Mysql problem is solved with giving localhost. But the mail Question was if add a domain on one server with a centralized(name as vpopmail)database. it can be accessible on other server from same database. For example i add one domain on Testmail server and add one user. These all information stored in mysql vpopmail database. Now on other server where vpopmail is alsoinstalled with mysql support running on other abover defined server.So Can i accesss/authenticate all user of Server 1 on this second server. Anyidea.

Hi All I am installing Qmail on redhat 8 with vpopmail. I have two server running for qmail.I have one server Qmail server and on other Qmail server, database(mysql) qmail is running. Now on both Qmail machine vpopmail is installed with mysql database support and it is configured fine till. One standalone qmail server , if we add a domain it successfully created and deleted with other server database support.( means all data stored on other qmail server on which mysql is also running). But on which mysql is running and also on it qmail is running and vpopmail in installed with mysql support with same configuration as on other qmail standalone server. why it sending mail when quota limit is near 20 or 15% used.
To ensure that your quota counts are always accurate, you need to make
sure that any applications that are involved in the adding/removing of
messages
are maildir++ compliant.
Using a non maildir++ compliant POP3 daemon (such as the one that comes
with qmail) is the most common cause for the quota system to falsely be
reporting that a user has hit their quota limit.
Bill Shupp has a patch for qmail that fixes both the qmail-pop3d
and the qmail-local programs so that they become maildir++ compliant.
You can download this patch from here :

I would recommend that you then go and delete all your user's
quota files (because they contain inaccurate counts). The quota
files will be automatically recreated and will contain the correct
totals next time a message is delivered.
I have used this command in the past on my server to zap all
the user's quota files :

This is a limitation of the vpopmail quota warning system. The
warning message does not contain any date field, which causes
assorted weird results depending on the mail client that is used

hi ppl i m using qmail on redat with vpopmail latest version. I set that .quota warn message file for quota warning message, but do't know why it sending mail when quota limit is near 20 or 15% used. ANd some time i have one or two mails and got quota warn message, why and the date it show in the header date field is very far behind the currrent date.why plz tell me on which basis u judge quota warn message to be delivered as i have 6mb(in bytes 6291456). As i am dividing by 1024 for getting calculation. hello all i send two question but can't get any reply. i think that thing has no solution. Actually i am using qmail on redhat and i use vqadmin to allot quota and i allot the quota to 3mb per user. i use imap to read mail and create folders but quota can't work properly on that maildirectory. i want to apply quota on all folder which user create and also include INBOX but vqadmin set quota on only INBOX and sometime mail can be recived after quota exceeding. so any solution to this problem. i think it must have solution ,i search on many sites but i can't get any reply or thing which is suitable for that problem. so guide me how i manage it. thanks

You won't need to decrypt if clear-password is enabled. The clear password
then will be already present.
But you'll have to remember updating encrypted _AND_ clear password if you

'Something else' is the wrong doing. You should do exactly what vpopmail expects you to do: - change the (encrypted and plain text) password in 'vpasswd'. - run vmkpasswd $domain (substitute '$domain' with name of the domain you're processing the vpasswd file for) The former will make changes in the file readable by human beings like you, the latter will transport the changes to binary file (vpasswd.cdb) used by 'vchkpw' for authenticating user. You will _have to_ do both steps, unless you're familiar with using cdb library and changing vpasswd.cdb directly by yourself (I assume you're not). So again: assuming domain name is 'test.com' and username to change the password for is 'user' you'll have to change the line corresponding to 'user' in file '~vpopmail/domains/test.com/vpasswd' and set the new password, both encrypted and plain text.
