Hi no they didn't have to, i guess they did as the new Fleksy wasn't working out as expected, plus they wanted to accomodate everyone including VoiceOver users, i stand by their word on this. It will, as long as it is not too long. I have a six-foot Amazon Basics USB to Lightning cable that will charge my iPhone 5 as well as the Apple lightning cable. However, I bought a 25-foot cable so that I could connect it to my charger in my great room and take my phone to my bed. It wouldn't charge through that cable, I assume because the voltage drop was too much over that long a cable. I have this problem in my iPhone. some times reboot 2 or 3 times per day, and i am happy when it is like this, because when is not a t, them it reboot around 7 times, that i notice, because I known that it happen when the phone is just resting. nope, I have restored my iPhone several times, and always it has this weird thing. Just it reboot been on my table, just making a phone call, or just typing something on it. I also prefer typing on my PC, and I use Google Calendar, so I can just enter an appointment in Google Calendar using my browser, and it'll show up on my iPhone's calendar. Hi I use solely the apple bt keyboard. I have tried Bowwave and the RII mini-keyboards but they aren't any better than the touchscreen when typing. Basic VO use is of course easier with physical keys. I'm also looking for a small bt remote controller if it could be configured to perform the basic VO keystrokes. -- mr. I use the on screen key board and the dictate function as well. Just depending on where I am. I have never used a Bluetooth key board. Not against them, just haven't felt the need. Hello, Ann and everyone. This question cannot be answered with a black-and-white response. The bes way I can think of to answer it is to bear in mind a series of what I hope are largely unarguable points that take into account the advantages of the on-screen keyboard, the external keyboard, and dictation. I don't own a braille display, so I'll eave it out of the mix. 1. If you use the on-screen keyboard, every editing and navigational VoiceOver command for the iPhone and iPad is available to you. If you use an external keyboard, many, but not all are available. If you use dictation, your command responses are even more limited. 2. Gaining proficiency on the on-screen keyboard may take a long time without using apps such as MBraille. Even with solid proficiency (excluding MBraille), using a QWERTY keyboard and dictation will be faster. However, dictation may not always yield the right results. Even in the best recording conditions, it doesn't get things right. If you say, for instance, I want to sync my iPhone, dictation may render the spelling of sync in such a way as to make someone reading your message think that you want to immerse your keyboard in water. Then again, when you get an opinion from someone, it's important to consider the source. Someone who has been typing much of her life on a QWERTY keyboard may stick to that method of input and vigorously defend it even if it means carrying an extra device around. Of course, if you have the financial resources and the time to employ them, the best answer is use everything you can, practicing with each until you become excellent regardless of what input method you use. I normally use 3 to 4 letters for my first word. So I Will group those 4 letters together in a square, 2 letters per column. If you do this and notice, the points of each letter will normally go up. * As a defensive move, it might also help to put the lower valued letters, which are normally more common inside your group of letters to help keep your opponent from stealing them, or accessing them to break your word. * Stealing opponents letters: I think it increases the value of your word if you use one of your opponents letters in your word. You are only able to use an opponents letters if its unlocked. * Breaking your opponents word: You can break your opponents current word by using one of the letters in their word in your new word. If you break your opponents current word, then this nullifies it, and your opponent will get 0 points for that turn. I use both MBraille and the on-screem keyboard. MBraille works best for me if I'm writing or answering emails or sending long texts, or if I might need to edit something. Hello Maria, Here is a great playing guide for the game Spell Stack put together by the developer. http://www.ananseproductions.com/spellstack-players-guide/ Learning how to move letters around and position them is part of the stradegy of the game. I will say that it is very important to look the board over thoroughly before deciding what you want to do. Here are a few tips to keep in mind: * It is always good to use your opponents letters when possible. Either stealing an available letter, or breaking your opponents word if possible. When you steal an opponents letter by using it in your word, it gives your word a bonus and counts for more points. You can read more about stealing letters and breaking your opponents word in the playing guide found at the link above. * You can also move your opponents letters if they have a value of zero, but remember, if they are not placed beside one of your letters, there is a good chance that the letter will be locked and you will not have access to it any longer. * In the same respect, if you have a letter beside your opponents letter, and you choose to move it, and you have no other letters beside that letter of your opponent, then there is a chance that it will become locked where you no longer have access to it. * To unlock a letter that you want to use, you must surround it with your letters if possible. Sometimes depending on the position of the letters, this might not always be possible. * Putting your letters you want to use close together and away from your opponents letters can increase their value, hence, the value of your word will be more. As I said, moving and placing letters is a part of the stradegy of the game. And honestly, a lot of this will just come as you play. The more you play, the better you will get at this. email coming up while I'm in other apps
Hi, all. I'm not sure if I can explain this well, but I'll try. Sometimes when I'm in an app I get a notification that I have new email. I'm put in the message and if I flick right I'm asked if I want to dismiss or read. I really don't want to do either, especially if there are 4 or so emails in a row, but don't know how to get out of that and back to whatever I was doing in the first place. Any suggestions would be welcome. It's not a huge problem, but I'd like to figure it out if possible. I know Voiceover announces the table columns and rows, like row 3 column a which is awesome, but in my computer, with Jaws, I use to do alt+J L, V and it would convert tables to text keeping all the info but delete the table format. I have not been tables and charts friends from the beginning stage of my computer/technology life Please can somebody tell me how you manage tables in Pages? I am using iPad mini and ios 7 the latest. I know that I can use the computer, but the purpose I am using it for requires me to use my iPad. Yes, I searched google, and no luck. It said to select table and find the table handle and presss delete. I do not find it anywhere in Pages. I have asked everywhere, looked in applevis and google, so coming here with all my trials. I have a blue tooth keyboard, but do not use it that much. Mainly just if I have several emails I want to do, and the blue tooth keyboard just makes it easier and quicker. I mainly use the MBraille app to do a lot on my phone. Texting, posting to apps like twitter and facebook, even making calls. When I do not use MBraille, I mostly use dictation. I very seldom use the on screen keyboard. I just find the on screen keyboard is slower than my other methods. And even though I do not use it, there is also the Fleksy vo app. It is free, and it even makes typing easier than using the on screen keyboard. We are fortunate to have so many different tools to help us type what we want to say. Hope this helps. Just I finished my call to apple tech support. They did a test, and yes, my iPhone has a hardware problem. So I will be waiting for the new iPhone, for return the old one. in the test, we found another problems that i didn't detect before. For example, if I turn on the bluetooth keyboard device, and turn of the iPhone at the same time, my iPhone didn't turn on any more, and it didn't accept the reset with the power and home button, died. So we have to connect my iPhone to iTunes to restart it again. The bad part of this story is that they are holding the price of the iPhone that they are sending, until they receive the old iPhone. questions about SpellStack
Can someone tell me how to sign into SpellStack? I get a screen with a logout button, and when I tap on it I go to the tutorial and start another game. DOES that mean I am logged in? Originally I tried to use the username and email and password screen, but I touched OK and it would only go back to the same screen. I saw nothing to tell me I was logged in. I do not want to log in under facebook or twitter unless absolutely necessary. Second question. Listened to the first tutorial and got through the first few puzzles in the tutorial. I think I understood them. I am now up to the spell pet. The t has a locked letter from other player above and below it. What is being shown here? I cannot move anything but the p. Hello Nimit, I don’t think it’s possible to do what you want in Pages for IOS. A couple of months ago, I spent a long time trying to do fairly simple things in Pages on our iPad Mini, but found that text became unselected when I moved to the area where you change the font and so on. I tried creating a table, but then it became difficult to edit the text outside the table. As far as I can tell, accessibility of Pages for IOS is getting worse as new features are added. I don’t consider the iPad as a serious work tool. I use my Mac for serious word processing because Pages for Mac OS X is a much better application. Sounds like you have alerts turned on for Mail. You may want to consider going into Settings - Notification Center scrolling down quite a ways and changing Mail from alerts to banner or off altogether. Hi, I use anything known to man when it comes to my phone and iPad mini. I use bluetooth keyboards, Fleksy vI, MBraille, and dictation and the onscreen keyboard if necessary. The only thing I don't use is a Braille display. That is only because I can't afford one. HI. I rarely use a blue tooth keyboard for the phone, use a combination of mbraille, fleksy the on screen keyboard and dictionn. I do sometimes find myself using a blue tooth keyboard with the iPad mini although haven’t tried fleksy VI on the mini as yet. Hi, I use a multilink bt keyboard that's quite portable yet big enough for me to type easily. Yet, since Mbraille, I use it much less. I think I would skip it altogether if I would not need quick spellchecking or autocorrect. Flexie is also a nice opttion. I'm completely at a loss please help
Hi, Yesterday while using my iPhone 4s, I noticed that the tone that is heard when you ask siri for help or the same tones when you use the dictation feature is very soft as in volume. This happened all of a sudden and I don’t know how to raise such volume. The voice that also says thinking before it starts with whatever you’ve asked for is low. I prefer VizWiz because of the ability to ask a question. Tap Tap See has been useless to me because the responses rarely tell me what I need to know. today I was taking a picture of my Van's tire to ask them to read the writing for me but no matter what I did VizWiz would not work. It acted like it was taking a picture but nothing was taken. It would not record a question. Is it still working for other folks? I tried it on both my 5S and 4S. I can't be bothered with Tap Tap See as I'm sure no matter how often I send the picture with no questions I'll just get back the answer. It is a wheel. So as the sale I wanted on tires is now over Not having the correct info from my tires was definitely a frustration. I'm hoping VizWiz is still working and just a glitch. Bard Mobile App?
Hi: I just downloaded the bard mobile app and am trying to figure out how to use it. Here is the thing. I have tons of books downloaded to my computer that I put on my old victor stream. Is there any way to transfer these books from my computer to my Iphone? If you have several books downloaded but haven't listened to them yet, how do you redownload them to the phone using the app? If you go to the bookshelf tab, you'll find an entry for help. This is a good resource. You can use iTunes to transfer books from your PC to your iPhone. You can download books directly to your phone from the recent books list or from your wish list. You can use any browser to add books to your wish list. You can also search for books with the app, add them to your wish list and then download them to your phone. To search for books, go to the get books tab and double tap on the browse BARD option. Hi, if you have the books original zip file, you can use iTunes to transfer the books over. Connect your phone to your computer, run iTunes, arrow to the device section and to your phone, then tab to the apps section and activate it. Next tab to the file sharing section and choose the bard mobile app and then choose the add file button. A file name open box will open. From here you can use the standard windows file open navigation to choose the zip files to upload to the bard mobile app. I hope this helps. -- Raul A. Hi, I primarily use the onscreen keyboard with the aid of a speed dots screen protector. I can type very fast on it and love it the most. I use a bluetooth keyboard for situations where I write long emails and I'm not moving around, like a short bus or car ride. Never use the keyboard when I'm walking around. I also use a Braille display with a Perkins keyboard and that is also good for long emails and a lot of texting. However more than 50% of my usage is just the screen. -- Raul A. HopStop for iPhone - Schedules Not Available
I've used HopStop and have found it especially useful. Recently, though, I've found schedules to be unavailable for the Houston Metro bus system. Interestingly, the directions section of the app still gives useful information. It may be that the sources of data for schedules and directions are different. Nevertheless, no schedule information seems to be available for several (possibly all) routes. Definitely not for routes 26, 27, 81, 82 and a few others I've checked. I've used the feedback section of the HopStop Web page to provide a comment to the producers. Have any others on this list had this same problem? Have you found solutions? Thanks so much. Ann, I bought a Verbatim foldable bluetooth keyboard when I first got my iPhone 5 and it has sat unused in my drawer. It didn't take me long to figure out that wagging another device around was no fun and I needed to make other arrangements to enter text using the phone. I use the Fleksy app for entering long texts and email messages that require more than a few characters. When entering search items and passwords, I use the onscreen keyboard with touch typing. When entering longer items or something requiring a quick turnaround, I'll use my computer keyboard to type up the item and get it to my phone for transmission using the Zero Tap app. As others have said, we have many choices so finding what works best for you just takes some trial and error. If for some reason you don't have the original zip files you can compress the books once again for the files menu so for instance, bring the book to focus. Bring up the files menu. Brian, I believe Chuck has already posted a link to the ZeroTap app. I apologize for including a space between Zero and Tap in my first message because doing so can mess up the search for it. ZeroTap is a combination website and app. When you go to the website, you can click a link to go to what they call the Magic Box and input text at your computer keyboard.
