Subject: Re: [AI] merge 2 PDFs and instantly convert to JPEG

Hi all,

Am done with at least merging both of my PDFs using online tools.
But When I tried to convert this merged file to JPEG format using online
tools / ABBYY FineReader, the result was not satisfactory.

Issue:
I wanted the output to be in a single JPEG format, but both the tools I used
as mentioned above gave me as 2 separate files altogether or in Zip format;
which is of no use to me.
I needed to upload the JPEG file in an online portal which does not have the
option of uploading more than one file for the same option, hence I merged
both the PDFs into a single file.

@Mukesh Baviskar
I searched for the photo shop software but could not find the free one.
Hence if possible, please send me a link to a free software so that I can
complete the required task.

Thanks all.

 About Skim Reading
The Skim Reading feature lets you quickly browse through long
documents by reading the first part of each paragraph. To begin
skim reading in a document, press CTRL+INSERT+DOWN ARROW. By
default, JAWS reads the first line of each paragraph, but you can
choose to read the first sentence of each paragraph instead or set
up your own skim reading rules. To change your skim reading

2015-03-09 Thread Mukesh Baviskar

Hi,
First of all I congratulate you for taking an initiative to develop a
Marathi font for VI users. There are following differences in Hindi and
Marathi font:

There is no nukta in Marathi letters
There is no dot above the ardhachandra in Marathi

Please see the attached Marathi alphabet.

There may be any more differences which I didn't understand. AI friends may
throw light on it.

Thank you very much.

hi,
yes I know that a dot sign beneath a letter is used in Marathi.
It is called Nukta in Hindi.
you can type the dot sign separately after typing the particular
consonant letter.
Instead, you can also type the letter with the dot sign joined
monolithically.

Mind that Hindi does not use all Devanagari letters.
It may be a different matter that the key layout which you used before
Google Input may not have mentioned the special letters.
Can you brief other symbols that are used in Marathi other than the nukta?
I have to work for Marathi.
I have done for other Indian Languages.

hi,
Let you be further clear.
1. In both Marathi and Hindi language, the Devanagari letters are used.
Hence there is no different in letters. Only the name is different.
Either you use Hindi or Marathi or Konkani or Nepali key layout; you
will type the same
letters.
In Hindi keylayout also, you can use Marathi fonts.
Basically there is no Marathi or Hindi or nepali Fonts.
All they are Devanagari fonts.
Sorry again, you are in wrong assumption.
No difference in alphabets in Hindi Marathi and Hindi at all.

2. Phonetic layout suits for those person who frequently use English
and local language.
3. Traditional layout does not suit for screen reader users. But,
finally if you still prefer traditional layout, just adopt the
Microsoft made Tamil layout. it has many benefits.
a. It is already available in your computer and will always be in
future too. It is not necessary to download and install from outside.
b. This layout will be available in any computer having windows
operating system installed. It means you can type Tamil in any
computer of the world. If you use a particular layout, you may not be
able to type in that computer in which your layout is not installed.
4. However, what ever layout to use, for a visually impaired person;
the layout which has the following characteristics is appropriate to
screen reader user.
a. It must not type more than one character on single key press (no
macro!).
b. It should not have an option in which more than one key press is
needed to generate one character (multi key press type single
letter!).
c. It should not have assigned control or alt keys for typing purposes
(No use of modifie for typingr!).
That's the key point to understand.

Hello Siddhi,
Take a try of macro.

code:

Sub AVG()
With Range(A4)
   .FormulaR1C1 = =AVERAGE((R[-3]C+R[-2]C+R[-1]C)/3)
   .Formula = .Value
   End With
   MsgBox Done!
End Sub

Save it in standard module using alt + f11, Insert-module-paste the code and

Dear Siddhi,
As per my knowledge there is no alternative to read number character by
character. If you follow my suggestion then the cell will contain only
digits and not the formula. So you can read it by character by character.
In this case there is no need to paste it in another cell. You can get the
numbers in that particular cells only. If you don't mind do send the sample
dummy file and I will modify it for you to read numbers as per your
requirement.

My question was that if you have large number (in billions) and
formula in the same cell. is there anyway where you could read the
number charcter by charcter instead of pasting into other cell? as
when I press f2 JAWS reads to me the formula and not the number.

The average example was to confirm Amar's suggestion.

hi,
There is no Marathi separate TTs available. However you can read
Marathi unicode texts either by selecting the voice to Hindi or
Nepali.
Unfortunately, the numbers and name of symbols will not said in
Marathi. If you used Hindi, the numbers and symbols will be said in
Hindi and If you use Nepali, the number and symbols will be said in
Nepali.
Since you are Marathi speaker, I guess Hindi may be comfortable But as
i know; In marathi, the nukta (a dot) is used and for this Nepali
reads far better than Hindi.
Better to test the both.

hi,
There is not a ready made formula.
However, you can do it easily with yourself.
1. In the sheet in which you want put the top five student, just link
the cell like sheet1!a1
2. Sort the sheet with the marks .
3. The name, subject, marks will be automatically adjusted.
Alternatively, you can use the validation command to a cell too.
The name can be auto generated as said in hint 1.
For auto sorting, a macro coding is essential.

Re: [AI] Excel formula

2014-01-09 Thread Mukesh Baviskar

Hi Johar,
Thank you. It's working fine.

Actually, I want to create a list of today's birthdays and a list of
birthdays in that particular months.

The formula you suggested is creating a list of today's birthdays. I
understood after seeing the output. So in this formula I want a remark
'Today' and not the particular month.

Secondly, I want a remark 'particular month' when the birthday is in that
particular month. So the remark should be the name of that month ignoring
the day and year.

Is it possible?

Thank you for solution.

Dear friends,
Please correct this formula to get correct output.

=IF(P9=TODAY(),IF(P9,CHOOSE(MONTH(P9),January,February,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October,November,December),))

It's working fine if the year is 2014 but not if the year is different.

Conditions:

If the date is today then only the month should display else blank.
The year should be ignore.
For example:

08/01/2000: January
01/01/2000: blank cell
08/01/2014: January
01/01/2014: blank cell
The date is in column 'p' in dd mm format. In short if the date is
current date that is for today '8' then only the month should be display
in the output.

Please suggest me a correction to get correct output.

Thank you.

Hi,
It is definitely possible.
Just use day and month functions.

Dear friends,
Please correct this formula to get correct output.

=IF(P9=TODAY(),IF(P9,CHOOSE(MONTH(P9),January,February,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October,November,December),))

It's working fine if the year is 2014 but not if the year is different.

Conditions:

If the date is today then only the month should display else blank.
The year should be ignore.
For example:

08/01/2000: January
01/01/2000: blank cell
08/01/2014: January
01/01/2014: blank cell
The date is in column 'p' in dd mm format. In short if the date is
current date that is for today '8' then only the month should be
display

in the output.

Hello GIRIPRASAD,
There is no need to change the document into html document. Use the
following steps and the problem will be solved.

Open word document
Go to reference-table of contents
Follow the instructions-done.

Before doing it first simply give headings from 1-5 as per your requirement
then follow the above steps.

Thank you. Now I understand that the auto sum function cannot be done

it well and is useful to hint about what valid input that the cell can
accept. Error Alert is used to specify a custom error message in case the
user enters an invalid value in the cell.

To specify an Input Message, open the Data Validation dialog box, switch to
the Input Message tab using CTRL+TAB, specify the Heading for the Input
Message and the Message itself and hit the OK button.

 Hello Johar,
Thank you. My first problem is solved. In second problem I have a little
modification as follows because each time the cell renge is different. The
data entries may more or less each time. So I don't want to stick to a
particular cell range. Therefore I want to use auto sum formula so that the
problem of different cell range will solve. Is it possible to give a auto
 sum formula in this case?
 Require a formula as follows:

if cell b13 has a text 'Closing balance' the cell c13 should have a auto
 sum
 formula.

 Example: =if(b13=Closing balance,sum())

This formula is giving error. Please correct it.

 Thank you.

You can achieve your target by following formulas.

Q1: If cell b13 has a text 'Closing balance', The cell k13 should have
 a formula 'j13-i13'

 Answer: =if(b13=closing balance,j13-i13)

Q 2: If cell b13 has a text 'Closing balance', The cell i13 should
 have a formula 'sum(i5:i12)'

 Answer: =if(b13=closing balance,sum(i5:i12))

Q: 3 a: If cell d13 is greater than k12, The cell d13 should not
 accept the value

Answer: step 1: go to b13

 Step 2: press alt+v, v

Step 3: from allow combo box select custom.

Step 4: press tab and type the formula =k12=d13

It means it will not accept the value if d 13 is then k12.

step 5: press tab and go to ok button.

 Q 3b: show a inpute message 'enter a value less than k12'

Answer: This part is not clear to me, because if the value of d13 is
then k12, then it will not allow the data to be entered. No matter
what you want to enter in cell b 13. If you want to enter the data,
then you must have the value of d13 = to or then k12.

Dear Arvind,
Creating Templates is a good idea for letterheads. You will need to create
separate templates for different paper sizes.
To create a template I suggest you take the following steps
1. - in a new word documenttype out the company name etc in the header
and address in the footer. Format them as you like it and you can also
include logos. Adjust the margins and the paper size. Get sighted
assistance

if necessary to make sure the appearance is as desired.
2. now save this file as a word template. In the save as dialog box in the
save as type combo box make sure you choose Word Template *.DOT
Now whenever you will open this template, a copy of it will open
automatically in a new document. This new document will have your letter
head. You should type out the letters and take printouts.
The templates will not change unless you specifically open them for
editing.

Hope this helps.

Need to know:
How and where does one save it?
Will one template work for all paper sizes or do we have to create

templates for different sizes of paper?
How does one access/open the saved template for reuse?
Is template the only way out for letter-heads or is there any other
better/simpler way too?

Hello,

Here is an extract from Satguru's message on the list on this topic:

you can not use Talks and Radio at the same time. To
overcome this, do the following:
Launch Radio and open the Talks settings by Talks+*. Go to options and
select Apps Specific settings. Talks would read Radio, using Standard
settings only. Again go to options and click on Add App Specific Value
and arrow down to Mute and select. Change it from No to Yess and
exit.

Next time when you would open the radio, the talks would be muted
automatically and exiting the radio would again unmute the talks.

With best regards,

Re: [AI] Excel query, very urgent

2011-02-09 Thread Mukesh Baviskar

   Hello Vamshi,
After coping the cell please use paste special command. Then select
values--Press enter. Done! The actual value will appear in that particular
cell instead of formula. Try it.

Subject: [AI] Folder not listed in subdirectory, file is coming in search
results. How to make it appear again?

Dear AI Members,
I am in need of your guidance.
There is one folder called “Diploma Courses in Law”, which was lying down
in my G drive in a sub directory called “PenDriveEducational”. The space
of the drive is 30 gb, and used space is 3 gb approximately.
The above said folder is not appearing in my drive, but if I search, then
I get one file of that folder in the results. Then I am able to go into
that folder by choosing “Open file location” option.

All folder contents are listed there.
The address bar says the location as “G:\PenDriveEducational\Diploma
Courses in Law”. Which is the actual location of that folder. But still I
am not able to see that folder in normal cases or in other words in the
list of the subdirectory.

I am certain that my computer is virus free.
What can be the problem and what is the solution for it?
I will be really grateful if you assist me in this regard.
Regards,
Amar Jain.

Try this:

I think it will solve your problem. Good luck.

Hello Mukesh,

The BSNL office in my area said the same. When I insisted, they accepted
my application and forwarded it to the higher authorities or concerned
section. I was granted the concession after a few months. In fact, they
don't have provisions for this concession in all schemes in their software

Hai my dear friend, now you can record anything in the computer by
using Windows Movie Maker. You can get this option in side the
programmes submenu. After oponing movie maker you have to go tools
menu, in the tools menu you have to select Narrate Timeline. option.
After you to press enter on that option, after that by using tab key
you have to select start naration there you have to press space bar.
But, before doing all this kind of things you have to connect
headphones to the computer.

Thanksregards,
ABDUL RAZZAQ

Hi Rohiet,

I would need to know your networking environment. Your best option is to
look at the help that is provided with Jaws for Windows. The process is
quite straightforward. However, without knowing your networking

I cannot comment further.

Hello ai!

I am raju singh, replying you that how to copy audio cd to local hard
disk?

one of the software nero start smart is the most popular and famous
software , which allows us to easily copy audio cd to local hard disk. and
prior to Nero 7 is the software, which can be fully access with the JAWS
9.0 or later. if you also facing the problem about nero, please let me
know, I can also provide script of nero also. any ways, if you have
install nero, or if you have nero (prior to 7) running on your computer,
first turn on your computer, press and hold f5 for sertain second to
refress your screen. and after a few second, insert an audio cd. now you
will here JAWS saying, mahesh (G:)

What do you want Windows to do?
using Windows Media Player
Copy CD
using Nero Burning ROM
Play Audio
using Nero ShowTime
Open folder to view files
using Windows Explorer
Take no action etc. remember! JAWS can say some thing, you don't have to
warry about it. press enter on convert audio file to digital audio file
using nero burning rom and finally complete the remaining stapes.

sir! i think, that I have given your answer.
if some problem persists, let me know.

sincerely, yours.

Rajesh

I haven't been checking my mails recently so I don't seem to have read any
discussion on scribes recently. There are some points I d like to bring to
the attention of the readers from Maharashtra. I think you know these.
I am quite shocked with your friend's experience.
The Maharashtra SSC board is governed by the Guidelines of the Bombay High
Court dated December 2006. these are the only comprehensive guidelines
anywhere in India. I had said while drafting these guidelines that they
are not the final words on the subject and would be improved upon in
course of time. Anyway nothing further has happened.
However good or bad these guidelines are, they are the only guidelines on
the subject. They are fairly clear and there are hardly any ambiguities
and there should not be arbitarieness.

Nagpur or any village examination and every Examining Authority in
Maharashtra is governed by these guidelines.
1. The Application form must mention the column for scribe.
2. The candidate must be allowed to arrange a scribe. Only if the
candidate

cant arrange one then the examining authority must arrange one.
3. We have enough experience with the kinds of scribe provided by
Examining Authority so i don't know why your friend did not write to the
Board and get his scribe approved.

The normal procedure is that once you are visually challenged you write to
the Board via your school and ask for the rules and tell the Examining
Authority much before the exam. You have to submit details about your
scribe.

It has been a common practice in Mumbai to submit the scribes bonafide
certificate, copy of i card etc.
Get the approval letter from the Examining Body and then carry that letter
everyday when you give the exams.

I don't think your friend followed the procedure. I have no idea about the
precedent.
yes I am aware that the Examining authority started by making the mistake
on the application form itself but your friend had to be most cautious. I
know what a tough world it is for us. I live it every minute. The only
words that come to my mind is that I wasn't promised a rose garden but the
thorns really hurt and unfortunately they keep hurting all our lives.
There is no respite from the pain of being visually challenged and living
in this world You have no idea about the effort that I make every morning
to psych myself into believing that the day will work out.
Most of the times it does work out . Therefore I do advise everyone on
this group to look hopefully at things and not cynically before things
even become a mess.
Therefore glitches like the one you described do come up. However a little
or maybe lots of effort before the event would have saved him the
heartbreak later.

Recently Vishal Jain had to fight a battle about scribes. Garima had to
do so in her own way. For Sameer we had to go to court. In another case
that is for Kritika although the issue was much larger we ensured that she
had the benefit of the guidelines. We did not wait for the government to
make a mistake we were proactive.

I always advise Pranay to cover this issue in November on eyeway so that
correspondence can be started early. This has helped many students.

Try to challenge the exams in Court and in any event lodge your protest
with the authorities.

If you don't have the guidelines let me know I will email it to you. Cant
attach them to accessindia mails.

Friends
We were discussing here last week about the issue and everyone was
assured that in SSC exam of may 16th, SSC will provide the scribe, as it
has done in past.
Now, I want to know the experience of examinees yesterday, whether
suitable scribe was in fact provided, and if at all any scribe was
provided.
Here, in Nagpur a friend of mine had to undergo agony as they flatly
refused to provide any scribe at the eleventh hour and asked him to
arrange his own.
When I reached the venue with scribe for him, the refused to permit him
to write the exam, as the prescribed time of half an hour for reporting
was over!!!

Anyone can give Microsoft's Office 2010 productivity suite a spin, but

not all
the pieces are ready. Gregg Keizer outlines what to expect

In mid-November Microsoft launched the first public beta of Office

2010. As the
last big testing milestone for the new suite, Microsoft was keen to get

the beta
into the hands of a very large group.

Tens of thousands tried the technical preview, but now we're talking

about
millions of people, says Takeshi Numoto, corporate vice-president for

Office.

From the user's point of view, the best thing about Office 2010 beta is

that
it's available to use, free of charge, until 31 October 2010. And

unlike with
the Windows 7 beta, you don't need to rush to download the software

immediately.
You can do so any time you feel like it. In fact, we've made it even

more
convenient than that: you'll find an extended trial version on our

cover DVD.

For most people, however, a month would be plenty of time to establish

whether
the new office suite is worth having.

Microsoft certainly hopes you like Office 2010: it had a tough enough

time
persuading consumers and small businesses of the need to switch from

Office 2003
to Office 2007. The last version brought new file formats that didn't

want to
work natively with its predecessors, plus a revised menu structure that

was
intended to simplify things but wasn't universally welcomed. Will

Office 2010
beta be enough to change your mind?

Initial feedback on the public beta has been mixed. PCAdvisor.co.uk

users
reported that it installed faultlessly, but not all the expected

features are
available yet, and not everyone is ready to embrace that shiny yellow

Ribbon
interface.

For an in-depth look at what it contains, how it performs, what you

need to do
to get hold of Office 2010 - or be rid of it - and the system resources

FAQs: All you need to try out the Office 2010 beta

When can I download the beta?

Immediately. Microsoft rolled out the beta at its Professional

Developers
Conference (PDC) in November. You can download it from

tinyurl.com/yexjp89. If
you don't want to hang around waiting for a hefty download to complete,

there's
a 60-day trial version on this month's cover DVD.

Do I need 32bit or 64bit Windows?

Office 2010 is the first Microsoft suite to be offered in both 32- and

64bit
versions. Choose the version that fits your operating system. If

you're not
sure of this, click Start, Control Panel, System Maintenance, System

and details
about your PC will appear.

We were unable to install Office 2010 beta on 64bit Windows XP,

however.

Is Microsoft limiting who can try it?

There's no cap on the number of downloads for Office 2010 beta. And

Microsoft
has not, as yet, set a time limit. I'm not sure whether we have a

specific
plan to shut off availability at some point, says Takeshi Numoto.

The Microsoft vice-president adds that the company intends to make sure
millions and millions of users are able to download and try the

preview.

What edition of Office is the beta?

You can choose between Office Professional Plus 2010, the
everything-and-the-kitchen-sink edition, or Student and Home. When

Office 2010
launches commercially, Professional Plus will be available only to

enterprises
and volume licensees.

Professional Plus includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,

OneNote,
Access, Publisher, InfoPath, SharePoint Workspace and Communicator.

Microsoft originally listed three different versions

particular cell in excel?

I have given column headings from 1 to 180 starting from A1. Now,
when I go to A4, Jaws should say 1 instead of A4.

Re: [AI] EXCEL FORMULA

2010-04-26 Thread Mukesh Baviskar

   Hello,
round off the figure in nearest rupee of 9.03 is 9 and not 10. Whenever The
figure after decimal is 50 it will round up the nearest figure which 9. You
may use the 'round' formula for this. For example:
=ROUND(a1,0) IN B1
If you want to change 9.03 to 10 use roundup formula as:
roundup(a1,0)in c1 you will get the answer 10 instead of 9
Try it and solve your problem. If you have any doubt contact me on my
mobile. Thank you.

Respected Sir,
Internet banking is very much safe for us, provided that we maintain the
confidentiality of the login information.
It is advisable to not to use public computers for internet banking, so if
you have computer at home, you may use there confidently.
And the features like enable high security in SBI which sends you an sms
which contains password, for any transaction makes E-banking more secure.
Same way in the case of cards you have got feature of extra authentication
while transacting online using your card which will be introduced in IVRS
by 2011 as per latest guidelines of RBI makes it secure.
The new feature of SBI net banking for visually challenged which allows
you to lock your username instantly using a keystroke in case of any thret
provides you good security.
I don't have good knowledge about it, but few banks have come up with some
USB device concept. It is a security measure but what it is all about, I
don't know.
So if you are confident that you can maintain account login information,
and if you can insure that your computer is secured in a way not full of
viruses etc, then you are good to go.

I am using E-banking, and hasn't come across any risky incident as such.
Regards
Amar Jain.

Dear friends,

Here in Gujarat, the responsibility of assessing the answer papers is
solely of the blind teacher. No allowance is given by the Gujarat State
Government for this purpose. We have to manage it ourselves.I am a teacher
of English in a secondary school, and I do the job by appointing the right
kind of reading assistant.

exams are round the corner and he would need to know the provisions as
soon

Appointing a reading assistant is the right solution.
However, such an assistant should be freely chosen and may not be
imposed.
Some allowance is given by Maharashtra government to VI teachers.
To find the required GR in Marathi, is somewhat a tough task, however, I
will try it, and its practical implementation and availing such an
allowance regularly is altogether another story.
Even UGC gives some monthly allowance to VI lecturers, or rather, I
should
properly say, assistant professors now, however, it has to be claimed in
general grants for five years and hardly a few professors are actually
able
to avail it, at least in my knowledge.

What Law or past judgments or any circular say on this?
Or Income tax rebate for disabled is there because to bear such cost?
Thanks

Yes, it is his responsibility to evaluate exam papers of his subject.
We, in Delhi, evaluate our exam papers with the help of sighted persons
and
pay the costs. But school authorities can't force him to appoint any
person
of their choice for that purpose.

Dear all,

We have A helpdesk caller from Bhiwandi, district Thane in
Maharashtra, who is an Urdu teacher in a Maharashtra government aided
school . Teaches class 7th to 10th. His vision is deteriorating
continuously and now finds difficulty inevaluating exam papers. His
school authorities have asked him to appoint an assistant to do the
task and asked him to bear the expenses on his own.

We would like to get in touch with the visually impaired teachers in
Maharashtra ASAP and to know how they evaluate papers.

Thanks.
