I want to buy another selection of gigabit copper to sfp converters for reverse engineering purposes. Ideally some which are known to work well and especially any which don't fail in non climate controlled environments. What is everyone using?

The question I would ask is Who really needs gigabit to a home? Or for that matter a small to medium business? Numbers look cool when they get bigger especially when $$ are smaller behind them. I am just thinking of the days of making the best of what we have and making more with less.

That’s not a proper operational control panel until you take all those pretty wire way covers and throw them in the bottom of the box. I would seriously suggest getting a small enclosure to terminate the fiber cable into and then using a patch cable between the switch and the fiber patch.

I think the idea is you can run a 12 strand aerial cable down a rural road. Since you're using this skinny cable, you can use a $40 closure to put a PON coupler in front of the customer prem. My quick estimate is the difference might be around $6,000 per mile.that changes with
