Dear sonu

We can definitely make hindi unicode and that is what we specialise in. But
presently most of the civil service aspirants are of english medium.
We are awaiting atleast 30 to 40 aspirants demanding the hindi material. I
promise you we will start doing it.

Hindi medium students should download all the relevant books from
bookshare.org as many of them have been prepared and uploaded there.

2017-08-08 Thread jayachandran.T via Ai
I have4 Hindi pdf files. All the four are not image pdfs.
I am unable to read it with the help of NVDA.

I converted those files into word also by using abby fine reader. But still
I am unable to accomplish the task.

I will be thankfull, if somebody could guide.

Dear friend, by your logic a woman should also get that right, to have
the right of polygamy. Would you agree? It's a question of one's right
to say no, you don't get a right to have sex whenever you feel like, a
woman may not want to have sex at the same time every time for a
thousand reasons, you must respect her wish. Why don't people
understand that every individual has his/ her right to what they want
or do not want. Getting married doesn't give you a right to treat your
wife as your servant, you cannot treat even your servant that way now.
Best.

Thanks friend for your well info, but my question is if wife can be called a
human then why man cannot be? Suppose, if someone’s wife or partnor try to
force that person for her needs and laws are also available them to force mails
to fulfill their needs then why cannot be a law for helping mail for ignorance
or forcement? what here has happened here with this mails. Untill he was
fulfilling her needs she went to him making him available for everything. One
has also said that a girl forced a man to marry after job but before that she
ignored his proposal. One thing for sure, that we do not know the ground
reallity of boath mail and feamail what ever case they were faceing when this
insident occurred and became boath of each went against hence untill we
understand complete matter and points of boath side equally, we cannot make the
right judgement. So, I think mr kapoor should definitely go to high court to
get the justice because, we can fully understand the importance of a job and
how a blind person fight whole life to get a job. What can be done of this one

It can be a need, duty and hunger but it cannot be forced. The wife has to be
willing. If it is forced, it is rape in my book. Please remember, the wife too
is human with dignity, feelings, moods, desires etc. She is not a commodity one

Re: [Ai] Question about dealing with parents having a regressive view about the capabilities of the disabled

2017-08-08 Thread Geetha Shamanna via Ai
Hi Avinash,

Blind people in rich countries have also devised a way to depend on escorts
:-)

Here in the UK, it is possible to employ an escort (known as support
worker) to accompany the blind person to conferences, meetings, etc. These
support workers are paid by the government under a scheme created to
encourage more and more disabled people to seek paid employment.

Some of them take undue advantage of the scheme and misuse it. I have come
across blind people who employ support workers for the same number of hours
in a week that they themselves work. In other words, they have a support
worker with them during every minute that they are at work. This is a
massive wastage of resources; if a blind person is not able to perform a job
independently to a large extent, they shouldn't be hired in the first place.

In this country whose transport system is perhaps one of the best in the
world, a vast majority of blind people still don't travel independently.

I guess the human tendency to look for an easy solution rather than
challenging oneself is the same everywhere.

As Mr Galani said: "Dependence is not undignified" I agree and I believe in
the practical notion of interdependence. We all whether disabled or
non-disabled are interdependent beings. But being a disabled, accompanying
escort certainly brings many uncomfortable gazes about ones abilities and
capabilities. I often wonder if India was a rich developed country could
blind people had afford escorts?
I've no qualm in writing on publick platform, its a blessing for blind
people that India is a poor country where cheap labour is available in
abundance. So if you're blind and you've job and little bit money you can
hire less educated, semi/unskilled attendant. Otherwise in the fast growing
world no one has time to say hy to non-disabled let alone blind people. So
poverty of others is a critical constituency which enables blind people to
take escort along. Otherwise, how many car walas come out of their cars and
help blind individuals? its rikshaw pullers and auto wala uncles and
near/distant relatives who are less educated and out of formal job become
escort.

it seems that the developer of this website has done something for
solving captchas. According to my understanding, Alok's approach is
similar to the one adopted by this one.

Re: [Ai] Question about dealing with parents having a regressive view about the capabilities of the disabled

2017-08-08 Thread Prashant Ranjan Verma via Ai
Hi all,
I observed discussion on travelling alone and about escorts. So I am sharing
my recent experience.
Just last week I have returned from Indonesia and Malaysia.

When I got the task to conduct a workshop in Jakarta, Indonesia and realized
that the best route to reach there was through Kuala Lumpur, I started
planning a two days sightseeing in this city.

As many have said, planning is most important when you are travelling alone.
In Indonesia I needed no support because the people who were hosting my
workshop had offered complete support including airport pickup and drop etc.

I had two days in Kuala Lumpur after completing the workshop in Indonesia
and I started searching for options by which I could get some assistance in
sightseeing and shopping.
Since Enable Travel have not fully started international operations, I
looked for other accessible travel options but could not find any for this
city on the internet. Then I spent some time on websites that provide tour
guides at a cost. Among them I got reasonable deals with withlocals.com. I
had text chat with two guides who had no issues in serving me and they also
had transport with them. However, the cost seemed a little high to me
considering that I had just two days' time.

Then I made use of some of the goodwill I have fortunately earned over the
years. Some people from Malaysia had come to my workshop about 10 years
earlier. I contacted one gentlemen from National Council for the Blind in
Malaysia and he recognized me and offered to help me. He attached a person
with low vision and also booked the hotel for me.

That partially sighted person turned out to be amazingly confident and well
informed about the city. We travelled in public transport and went to the
famous monuments and tried local food. It was a new experience doing
sightseeing with a person whose sight was not more than mine.
He was also very good at taking support from sighted persons when needed.
For example, when he took me to a departmental store for shopping, he
directly went to the counter and asked them to provide a staff to assist us
in picking the items we wanted. They provided an assistant quickly and he
helped me with all that I needed.

At the hotel, I informed the staff at check-in that I needed assistance
mainly at the time of breakfast. They happily sent a staff to escort me
from my room to the breakfast buffet. The staff described all the options
at the breakfast table and I could easily take what I wanted.

At the airport, I make request for special assistance at check-in counter.

Myself and Veena have been to many places and have been able to manage
without a full-time guide or local friend. We do take assistance in hotel
and use taxi services in places we are not very familiar with.
Another think is that I research about the place I am going to. For example
before our recent trip to Europe, I research for information about the
history, weather, places of interest, things to do, food to eat and items to
buy for each of the 21 cities we visited. I saved all the information on my
computer and also put it in my mobile for quick access. I have found this
exercise to be very useful. Even the guides and fellow travellers are amazed
to see how much we know about the place. Armed with the right information,
we feel empowered and confident instead of having any stress or
apprehension.
I try to book and pay for as many services as possible beforehand so that we
don't have to deal with cash and haggle with service providers at the last
moment. I try to be always connected and for this I buy a local sim card or
activate international roaming if economical.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks,
Prashant

I just installed this app and used for sometime. when you open the
app, it says tap on the screen. you have to just double tap anywhere
on the screen, picture will be taken, and talkback announces the
result in few seconds.
but the funny thing is that it is not giving the correct result. I am
in my office now. I took few pictures but it says man sitting on bed
with laptop, man standing in kitchen, man standing wearing a blue tie,
and some funny things.
it's giving this result even when I did not take a picture of any
human. but anyway, thanks for sharing.

Re: [Ai] For software developers - creating custom accessible CAPTCHA

2017-08-08 Thread Alok Kaushik via Ai
Hi Harish / Akash,

Thanks for your response.

Yes. I completely agree that theoretically it is possible to extract the alt
text of the image and convert words in numbers. However, the idea was to stop
general bots, which would still happen. It is possible to determine the
captcha programmatically provided that coding to target specific site is done.
I would myself not recommend this approach for a site that is vastly popular,
or has high stakes, in which case specific targeting could very well happen.

There are many other backend tracking and detection mechanisms that should
be implemented for a high visibility / high stake site. Amazon has been
able to keep intruders away even without a captcha.

OTP may be cited as one of the alternatives.

However, solution has to be context specific, and many portals that are new or
have a relatively low user base may not be able to opt mobile integration or
deploy network level safety mechanisms.

Sugamya Pustakalaya has a captcha that asks the user to add two numbers.
While this would suffice for a general bot, it would not suffice if someone
specifically targets that site, and codes to determine the captcha. Hackers
would indulge in custom coding if they have something to gain from it.

Your observation is completely valid. We just need to decide context specific
trade-offs.

I may be sticking out my neck and making a statement about future. I feel
that with the emergence of AI / computer vision most captchas would not be
safe in near future, even if they are just images. We may actually see image
based captchas go away in the time to come, and something new may emerge.

Thanks.

Alok

Hi Alok

Just to bring to your attention, there is a security challenge in this approach.

CAPTCHA is essentially used to fight against Bots and to prevent them from
guess the CAPTCHA.

As I see, you have the words placed in Alt text. It is not a big deal to read
the alt text fromDocument object and convert the numbers in words back to
numerals.

Check it out.

Harish.

Subject: [Ai] For software developers - creating custom accessible CAPTCHA

Hi,

In one of my recent software development works I created a CAPTCHA that is
accessible for screen readers using the following approach.

1. Generate a random 5 digit number.

2. Generate an image containing the embedded 5 digit number. Image is
programmatically generated and is not an image that could be downloaded. 5
digit number is communicated to the captcha generating code using encryption.

3. Convert the complete 5 digit number in English words, including the
words thousand and hundred.

4. Assign the converted number in words as the alternate text of the
image dynamically. This would allow the screen readers to read out the number
in words, while other users will see regular image.

5. Track the random number as a session variable for later comparison.

I am writing this for following two reasons.

1. This approach seems to be working for me. Want to know if anyone sees
any issue in this either in usability or security.

2. If anyone doing software development is interested in implementing
this, I can share the code off the list.

Thanks.

Alok

Hi friend would like to give my input regarding your question, firstly all the
apple products very accessible for visually challenged, secondly I prefer based
on your choices iphone 6 or SE because 5s may soon stop receiving updates so u
will regret investing on it, and regarding the the size SE is small compared to
iPhone 6 but finally any product of apple is accessible once we get used to it
it's great

Saksham is introducing yet another feature to improve availability
and accessibility of its offerings. We have been bringing out audio
described films for long now. To increase its availability and ease of
use, these audio described films are now available from Sugamya
 Pustakalaya as DAISY Audio books.

To begin with this offering we have uploaded below 10 audio described
 films to Sugamya Pustakalaya:

 1 Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
 2 Barfi
 3 Dangal
 4 Gandhi
 5 Hanuman
 6 Munna Bhai MBBS
 7 P K
 8 Three Idiots
 9 Black
 10 Halo

It is so good to have them on the DAISY player or the DAISY player app
on phone and computer with auto resume and navigation feature. It was
quite an enjoyable experience to listen to them as a DAISY audio book.
I am sure you would enjoy tem as much.

 Wishing you happy movie listening.

Re: [Ai] Question about dealing with parents having a regressive view about the capabilities of the disabled

2017-08-08 Thread avinash shahi via Ai
As Mr Galani said: "Dependence is not undignified" I agree and I
believe in the practical notion of interdependence. We all whether
disabled or non-disabled are interdependent beings. But being a
disabled, accompanying escort certainly brings many uncomfortable
gazes about ones abilities and capabilities. I often wonder if India
was a rich developed country could blind people had afford escorts?
I've no qualm in writing on publick platform, its a blessing for blind
people that India is a poor country where cheap labour is available in
abundance. So if you're blind and you've job and little bit money you
can hire less educated, semi/unskilled attendant. Otherwise in the
fast growing world no one has time to say hy to non-disabled let alone
blind people. So poverty of others is a critical constituency which
enables blind people to take escort along. Otherwise, how many car
walas come out of their cars and help blind individuals? its rikshaw
pullers and auto wala uncles and near/distant relatives who are less
educated and out of formal job become escort.

Hi there hope you're doing well, here is my suggestion get the iPhone SE if 3D
Touch and design does not matter, it is very small and very powerful device.
Every iPhone has same accessibility regardless of what you get.
Hope that helps.

well i suppose Rajesh, that your question is for Avinash,
however no one think, that to be depend is undignified.
as George said, planning is best if u are alone,

Balanced way is to take help, wherever necessary.
Necessity may differ with background, specific situation

Just sharing a sentence from a working paper which I've cited for
publication consideration. Colrege: (1999) while commenting about
youth with disabilities writes: 'what are the markers of being an
adult for an individual with disabilities, who is regarded as
dependent, in need of care and overprotected' (cited in Singal, 2008).
Now questions arise: In a growing age of hyper capitalism and
individual excellence, does dependence entails any degree of dignity?
And on a moral ground should our conscience allow us to always
accompany escort if he/she is not at all interested in the events
we're to attend? I've been to many seminars/conferences in Indian
cities and have found that many educated blind people bring escorts
who're least interested for the seminar. And then they demand
reimbursement for their travel cost on account of their blindness.
This is the reason the Indian Council of Social Science Research and
Council of Historical Research resist from funding blind people cause
they don't only seek funding for their travel cost but their escorts
also.

As I see, you have the words placed in Alt text. It is not a big deal to
read the alt dext fromDocument object and convert the numbers in words
back

to numerals.

Check it out.

Image
is
programmatically generated and is not an image that could be downloaded.
5

digit number is communicated to the captcha generating code using
encryption.

3. Convert the complete 5 digit number in English words, including
the

words thousand and hundred.

4. Assign the converted number in words as the alternate text of the
image dynamically. This would allow the screen readers to read out the
number in words, while other users will see regular image.

5. Track the random number as a session variable for later
comparison.

I am writing this for following two reasons.

1. This approach seems to be working for me. Want to know if anyone
sees any issue in this either in usability or security.

2. If anyone doing software development is interested in
implementing

this, I can share the code off the list.

Thanks.
Alok

I don't see any problem with clause "C", if you can get the benefit of
concessional ticket, you should purchase, it will be helpful to the
government as the government will have to spend less on your travel.
