Michael Polak,
Regarding Arachne digest, what time of day is it sent, and how frequently? It
would simplify my email not to have so many little messages as separate files.
Why should the digest not be able to take MIME attachments as raw data as is,
without trying to interpret the strange

On crashing one's hard drive installing Linux, it seems to me safer than
installing MS Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000. Linux installation leaves the other
partitions alone. But it is quite possible to destroy a Windows partition with
Linux fdisk. I am familiar with the
It is current practice for an ISP to assign DNS numbers dynamically
when the connection is established. After running Arachne or Lynx,
the values that were used are in the environment variables "myip"
and "remip".

FreeWWWeb has no news server? I thought their information page said there was a

Why would one want to use Web access to email instead of POP3/SMTP which is

When I signed up I remember distinctly being surprised that there was

Sorry it took so long for me to report back. Thanks to your input, I got
Arachne up and running using my DSL connection. As a refresher, I'm running
a peer-to-peer network in my home office using a 400 mhz Pentium as the main
"server" with a P166 and a 386sx-16 connected as clients.
Someone was looking for FAX program; believe it was for Win3.x ??

NT 4.0 isn't shipped with the HPFS support (as 3.51 was right?) - but you
can still use it if you get the files for 3.51. I don't know about NT 5.

How can I *force* Arachne to generate a virtual page?
With virtual set in options, almost all pages are rendered as virtual.
I need this if I am going to save pages as BMP files, and for certain
things I *must* have this ability.
But at least one page I ran into today is *not* rendered as

Don't laugh at the subject; Arachne has found a way to do that!
Actually it is a bug.
If you elect to export a file [at least txt but probably any export] and
the destination you give doesn't have the space to handle the file,
Arachne doesn't bother to tell you there's no space, Arachne doesn't
