I experienced a similar issue after patch 2.
Check if the people records were modified for the affected relationships. If
so, the relationships were probably deleted during the recon job.
We disabled the CTM:PPL:OnDelete_DeleteASTAssetPeople filter to stop this from
happening.

This is what I did for installation issues:
1. Go to c:\temp delete any temp files left by the Remedy
installer. Try the install again.
2. If it still doesn't work, repeat step 1. Copy the install
folder to a different location try again.

We are upgrading as well have been using the 7.5 client with both our
6.3 production and 7.5 test environment. I switch back forth between
the environments using the same client.
Just make sure that if you go to patch 3 of the client that you get
patch 3a. I don't know that plain old patch 3
We were on 7.5 patch 2 (VM, Windows 2008, Oracle 10) moved to patch 003. We
did not experience server crashes on either patch.
