Hello all!
Once again, incorrect information needs to be corrected!
Schleicher only applies spray painted markings which are
sanded flash afterwards.
They do not offer anything else.

(actually stickers sound great if underwing markings are not required!)

For us operators, I really think it is quite simple ... just do what the GFA
requires (ie observe the requirements of AN84) and if there are issues
between the GFA and CASA, let them sort them out.
AN84 Issue 2 was released on 7th April, 1998 and the pre-amble states

I was going to comment on AN84 in my previous email but decided
against it as it would have muddied the situation.
AN84 (like all ANs) is a guideline and advisory only. It came about
as GFA (were forced?) to issue an AD requiring full rego markings on
all aircraft*. I am
I believe that GFA AN84 is an agreed set of differences / exemptions from the
existing part 45.
The proposed new part 45 as mentioned by Wombat actually includes all of these
and goes further - removing the need for under wing markings and halving the
minimum height of the vertical markings.
I
I just have not seen any reference yet to GFA AN84 which details the
requirements. This is downloadable from the GFA website /Airworthiness

Also I dont know if GFA still has an exemption but this would seem
to make comp numbers or letters a non compliance and certainly those
gliders who use the last two letters of a registration such as LTY
and omit the L are not in compliance.

Hi all,
I
Use vinyl stickers.
There are plenty of places that will cut them for you.
Look up the CASA regs on line. There used to be an explanatory
document too. The rego doesn't have to be very big nowadays and now

I need to put new markings on a glider. What is the norm these days - stickers
or paint?
Thanks, Ben

Welcome Bob,
I believe part of the answer is that any inconsistencies to the smoothness
of the high pressure (underside) of the wing will be highly detrimental to
its efficiency.
