Check the debug log with d_source and d_plugin set.
It should show activity parsing the BBC web sites and then trying to

There have been no code changes to SlimTray source code for 5 months.
Have you tried using the slimserver from 10th with the SlimTray of the
27th to see is it something with Slimserver.exe that is affecting
SLimTray.

Checking for slim.exe in services is not enough to see if it is running
- you must also check Task Manager.
Have you tried swapping one Slimtray.exe with different nightly
slim.exe ?

So I think the installer creates the latest build into SlimSep.exe but
the makerelease.pl code copies the file SlimSetup.exe. It doesn't seem
right and it doesn't explain the SlimTray issue nor the change in
SlimTray file size but I think it needs to be sorted.

I did the debugging last night and in a few cases I downloaded 7.0a1
instead of 6.5.2 (tiredness?). The build error is real but I'm not so
sure it will fix the problem as I had assumed.
I'll look again later today.

Sometime netstat doesn't return all the processes unless you are logged
in as root. Also I think you specify port that are listening.

My mistake - OSX has a different function assigned to -p compared to
Linux.
I don't have OSX but I believe the following command may work on OSX
and list off all ports which have a listening process - not enough
details but it may prove that there is a user of 9000.

Most of the users who noticed the problem were AAC or WMA Lossless
users as MP3, Flac and WMA files were played without transcoding.
If you force transcoding - try force it into MP3 (e.g. use Limit Bit
Rate).

That behaviour was noted by some other Linux users (or was it you ?)
when they pressed skip fwd - what app and version are you using ?.
About 2 yrs ago Mplayer did something similar until the broken pipe
signal was handled properly.

The directory is correct and it should contain 9 files and 5 sub
directories.
All the signs are that the AlienBBC plugins has not been found by
slimserver.

Set debug level for os.paths to debug, try to enable the wma conversion.
Then open the debug log.
The log should show all the paths that SC looked for wmadec.

I just installed nightly 8oct on an XP system and I got the same error.
It seems to be broken on all conversions - if you try to change them..
Interesting - if I change the last Windows media entry from disabled to
native - it tell me I'm missing a binary as well !

I had a similar issue with installing SC7 on Windows XP - the install
hung until I stopped SC and SlimTray. So perhaps for the other users -
the SC service is slow to stop for some reason.

Since you got the same message twice - it is unlikely to be fatal.
Start SC from a shell prompt with --d_startup option and see what

This should be defined in the strings.txt file - you can check it using
Wordpad.
It is used to deal with capital letter in the middle of a phrase - used
with German.

You should be able to get AlienBBC working now - the file conversion
setting bug has now been fixed. So install the SC 7.0 nightly and then
continue your AlienBBC thread.
The main issue now is to get clear install instructions for AlienBBC on
Debian/Ubuntu.

using the 31/10 build on XP I can play AACplus stream with no problem
both just the URL or the URL in a PLS.
Can you post the URL which fails for you ?
A checking Stream error is usually a playlist parsing problem where
SC cannot find an URL to play.

Both those URL play OK using Tune-in.
The build of 31/10 is 14241
Run SC from a cmd prompt. Then enable logging for Player.source and
then play the problem URL. The log from socetwrapper and mplayer will
be shown in the cmd prompt window mixed in with the SC log messages.

It has been this way since 6.5 with the introduction of direct
streaming.
With direct streaming a TCP connection is set up for audio directly
between SB and the station - SC only updates the display. So when SC
stops, display goes blank but audio will continue.

The current AlienBBC 2.0beta .exe installs to the Slimserver directory
by default as the 2.0beta release was created before all the renaming
of directories.

The homemusic will not work with ANY version of Slimserver/Squeezecenter
- the screen has an incompatible layout and emulation has been removed.
Only the Soundbridge M1001 or Radio work (in a minimal fashion) with
Slimserver.

RHS - you then enter edit mode of Favorites list.
Click on X icon on an entry to delete. Drag'n'drop to reorder.

It looks like Scrobbler could be interfering. Can you so a log with
player.source, player.streaming and plugins.alienBBC all set to Info.
