The 3rd Rice Lake Plains Christmas Bird Count took place on Friday, January 1,
2016. Twenty-eight field observers and 8 feeder counters tallied 7,566 birds of
51 species. This was the highest individual total ever, but was 1 less than the
record species total of 52
(Kente Portage Rd.), then right
on Cty Rd. 64 to Carter Rd. as above.

On December 17, 2016, the Port Hope-Cobourg Christmas Bird Count was held under
somewhat challenging conditions. Heavy snow during the night and into the
morning made driving and birding difficult. A break in the precipitation in the
late

road just before the bridge and a smaller home on the north side, 5766
Lakeshore, and it was on the edge of the woodlot behind the latter that the

On Saturday, December 14, the 43rd Port Hope-Cobourg Christmas Bird Count was
held. The weather was cold with temperatures ranging from -18ºC to -13ºC. Wind
was NE from 30 to 50 km/hr. Snow started in the afternoon, becoming heavy by

Nineteen field observers and 11 feeder watchers tallied 5545 birds of 41

The Fifth Annual Rice Lake Plains Christmas Bird Count took place on January 1,
2017. Thirty-five field observers and 11 feeder watchers counted 9,116 birds of
49 species

Take Welcome/Port Hope exit from401, go north to Dale Road/CtyRd2 turn west

The 47th Port Hope-Cobourg Christmas Bird Count was held on December 16, 2017.
A total of 38 field observers and 5 feeder watchers tallied 20,357 birds of 82
species.
The weather in general was good, with light winds and a high of -5°C
large Cameco plant.
For Cobourg harbour, follow Division Street down to the harbour and park (free)
in the west parking lot.
