if you have books-on-line installed, have a look at the Copying Databases to
Other Servers section. as you can see there are a bunch of ways to handle

the email directly to the recipients incoming mail server. So does this
skip over and restrictions that an ISP or cable comapny like Comcast might
have setup to block port 25 or other measures?

BTW - I use Navicat as well, and a warning here if you get a VPS with Plesk on
it. I think it's a nice control panel for the most part, particularly if you
are going to be hosting

They still would probably have to set up the database though, I doubt you
would ever have root access on a shared server!
I don't see what they would have to do anything, unless
it's permissions setting or something. A one-time
wanted I dont have yet is CF8, which is why I
didnt respond earlier.
(oh and one more thing - even though I'm in Australia, my servers are
in Texas and I have American based hosting customers. Credit card
transactions are international.)

Are these USING HOST HEADERS are common practice as a
hosting company ?
It's common to use host headers with web servers in general, as it allows
you to map multiple names to a single IP address.
Are these host headers caused the slowness ?
I don't see why they would.

I just blogged about this but I figured I'd post my request at house of
fusion since so many of you also use ISPs.
In order to find a good fit for hosting, I think you need to list up
front some of your requirements. Here are the basics of mine.
Requirements:
CF8
Control Panel
Multiple
I'm all for CrystalTech but I've always heard good things about
HostMySite.com as well.

I've always had really good luck with Gearhost.com. They don't have CF8
right now, but they're talking about upgrading soon it sounds like.
