whenever files "disappear" on clementine, check in various artists, the
searchbar will also find "missing" files
It's good to check files for meta data quality with a tag editor
[clementine, ez-tag] before dropping the files in your music folder

Right click on the library pane>Display Options>Group By should get you a
sort more to your liking
You could add Grouping to list Composer, you can make the playlist display

Gmusic Browser has an amazing range of options
I use clementine as it suits my needs
I use KDE as a desk top, QT stuff integrates with less care & feeding...
Gmusic is gnome oriented
the dev is helpful, but it is more of a one man show
Exaile is handy for checking files before I import

Are you playing from a dynamic or a static playlist?
Take any playlist & shuffle playlist
Shuffle the playlist several times & scan the list to see...
set to don't shuffle
Play
you will have a much better idea of how many files have been played, there
won't be any repeats or skips unless they are
You will probably find the "missing" files in unknown artist or various
artist, the metadata for the files is not quite right...
Open the playlist all songs & sort by different parameters for clues
Try checking with a tag editor I use Easy Tag
Things like the file name not lining up with the ID3
What do you mean by
"I go to my library and play songs from a folder"
Playing through the clem interface or by right clicking from a file browser?
