Patrick, the mouse wheel works and there is no difference, if I press ctrl or alt or both. With a lot directories ;-) the wheel is not comfortable too. Imagine I have 100s of directories and I have to choose one in the last third. BTW, can you explain the difference between folder and directory, for a non-native English speaker I cannot see a difference. At the end it counts for me, that it does what I want. Some months ago with Ubuntu 18.04 a GTX 1030 was slower(!) with opencl, but now the 1030 is faster, about 2x without opencl, while the 1660 is about 10 times faster with opencl. Of courese this depends on the test scenario. I used the testfile bench.srw from the phoronix test-suite. It also depends a lot which nvidia-driver you use. It worked without problems, when I installed the nvidia-driver during installation, if I installed it afterwards I got mixed versions. > I got openCL playing in each of these configs but it stopped working > after the first suspend-to-ram. Is there a manufacturer, chipset, model etc I should be going > for, or avoiding? Similar here, 3700X with 32GB RAM, but I think there is no difference to 16GB doing tests. It always depends which modules you use with darktable. I think the RAM of the graphics adapter is a _lot_ more important. I use a GeForce GTX 1660 (no TI!). There is no noticeable advantage with the TI. If you want it faster you have to spend a _lot_ more money, as already mentioned more RAM of the graphics adapter reduces tiling and that saves a lot more time than a faster GPU. We had this discussion a while ago doing tests with cli, my pc was a lot faster because it did not use tiling. So if you do not very complex tasks with DT, the 1660 is the sweet point IMHO. With "very fast GPU" I got af a reboot of the pc: 8,123046 [dev_process_export] pixel pipeline processing took 0,616 secs (0,967 CPU) [export_job] exported to `ff_02.jpg' So it was slower, but these are so short times and because it is so short, its meaning is not reliable. No idea, how I got the values above. What does cache_memory influence? No idea, from where this value comes. I could _could_ calcalute this value a long time ago after a recommendation, I don't remember this. How opencl_checksum is calcaluted, this is a value from a rc-file with a total different graphics card. I use only a few modules, bench.srw uses a lot more modules than I normally use. Hard to say, if I found a typical fullformat excample, but with my own fullformat example I see: 7,393864 [dev_pixelpipe] took 0,116 secs (0,300 CPU) processed `Gamma' on CPU, blended on CPU [export] All others are: "blended on GPU [export]" 7,393968 [dev_process_export] pixel pipeline processing took 0,608 secs (0,915 CPU) Complete log is attached. So my ff-36MP-photo is a lot faster calculated. My goal is to avoid to copy stupid settings from the old pc. Interesting is: Spitzlicht-Rekonstruktion' on GPU, blended on GPU [export] With the bench.srw it was calculated by the cpu. So the use of the cpu depends on something and not on the coding of the module itself. So my question, if some of these values should be changed, because the new system is a lot more powerful: cache_memory=1073741824 maximum_number_tiles=1 metadata/resolution=300 opencl_checksum=3732205163 opencl_device_priority=*/!0,*/*/* opencl_mandatory_timeout=200 opencl_memory_requirement=768 opencl_micro_nap=1000 opencl_number_event_handles=25 opencl_size_roundup=16 pixelpipe_synchronization_timeout=200 plugins/map/max_images_drawn=100 plugins/map/max_outline_nodes=1 > then there is > only one direction where OpenCL memory optimization could help: if > you can avoid the contrast equalizer module to use tiling. > > But there is not much to gain. Thanks Ulrich, but isn't there always the same difference? I discuss this bench.srw because it is available publically and uses a lot of image manipulations. Actually I use bigger files with 36MP FF, but with a lot less modules, especially not mdules for advanced users. `Spitzlicht-Rekonstruktion' (highlight correction) I use very often, but I think I never used `Tonemapping' After reading https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/darktable_and_opencl_amd.html I am getting very unsure. I do not have any variable in ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc containg GPU. opencl_memory_headroom This parameter controls how much graphics memory (out of the reported one) darktable should leave UNTOUCHED for driver and display use. As for AMD/ATI devices we anyhow only can get half of the available RAM it's safe to set this to zero. So all of the 512MB can be used by darktable. So should opencl_memory_headroom be a small value and 300 is fine? 3000 is the half memory of my GPU. I attach my complete darktablerc. Both pcs have a GeForce GTX 1660 (6G, 5941MiB), AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. 1pc has 32G RAM and the other 16G. DT is the only program at the moment, which uses opencl. /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg 586MiB xfwm4 4MiB After starting darktab le Xorg memory increases a little bit /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg 618MiB | xfwm4 4MiB /usr/bin/darktable 73MiB At the moment I have: $ grep -i opencl ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc opencl=TRUE opencl_async_pixelpipe=false opencl_avoid_atomics=false opencl_checksum=3732205163 opencl_device_priority=*/!0,*/*/* opencl_disable_drivers_blacklist=false opencl_enable_markesteijn=true opencl_library= opencl_mandatory_timeout=200 opencl_memory_headroom=300 opencl_memory_requirement=768 opencl_micro_nap=1000 opencl_number_event_handles=25 opencl_scheduling_profile=default opencl_size_roundup=16 opencl_synch_cache=false opencl_use_cpu_devices=false opencl_use_pinned_memory=false $ grep -i memory ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc cache_memory=1073741824 host_memory_limit=1500 opencl_memory_headroom=300 opencl_memory_requirement=768 opencl_use_pinned_memory=false Which values should be changed? Note: the more expensive TI is not remarkable faster, nearly the same speed, depends on the photo. I think this card has the best price-value. If you are not adventurous with Linux, use Nvidia and / or search for AMD and troubles. It doesn't help if you read it will get better and what could be maybe. Note the differences if you compare. At the end your system must work now and not maybe some day, IMHO the cpu is not so important, if you compare the GPU. Would be interested how long the RTX2060 takes with the bench-file. Try to install the phoronix test suite to get compareable test-files and do something like below: You can download the bench-file here, but the phoronix suite contains more test files to compare: https://math.dartmouth.edu/~sarunas/bench_raw/ $ darktable-cli bench.srw bench.srw.xmp bench.jpg --core -d perf -d opencl ... 0.147530 [opencl_init] device 0 `GeForce GTX 1660' has sm_20 support. 0.147660 [opencl_init] device 0 `GeForce GTX 1660' supports image sizes of 32768 x 32768 0.147663 [opencl_init] device 0 `GeForce GTX 1660' allows GPU memory allocations of up to 1485MB [opencl_init] device 0: GeForce GTX 1660 GLOBAL_MEM_SIZE: 5942MB MAX_WORK_GROUP_SIZE: 1024 MAX_WORK_ITEM_DIMENSIONS: 3 MAX_WORK_ITEM_SIZES: [ 1024 1024 64 ] DRIVER_VERSION: 435.21 DEVICE_VERSION: OpenCL 1.2 CUDA ... 5,678742 [opencl_profiling] spent 2,4782 seconds totally in command queue (with 0 events missing) 5,678749 [dev_process_export] pixel pipeline processing took 3,343 secs (8,930 CPU) [export_job] exported to `bench_02.jpg' 6,009675 [opencl_summary_statistics] device 'GeForce GTX 1660' (0): 551 out of 551 events were successful and 0 events lost Here is the result of the cpu only, I use a Ryzen 3700X: 18,169530 [dev_process_export] pixel pipeline processing took 16,369 secs (230,259 CPU) So using the GPU is about 5 times faster for me. Read for more tests: https://math.dartmouth.edu/~sarunas/darktable_bench.html What I found out, that it is getting a lot more expensive, if you want significant more speed, but I cannot give you an advice what do use, if you want to spend less money. Ask always for people who use this card really and don't talk about theory. There are a lot of details. It didn't work for me out of the box, I had to install some packages, which I had to guess. You have always to check which operating system / graphics driver is needed. In my case I had to use Ubuntu 19.10. After I configured the photo manually, dt seems to remember this, even if the xmp-file was deleted. Only a newer used photo showed the manual lens configuration. Did you check what's available in Synaptic, possibly adding a > repo? Do you talk about Ubuntu? Other linux distris have a newer exiv2. I am "fighting" with thix exiv2 problem since 2 years and it looks like the problem will exist for 2 more years. Unfortunately it is not so easy for me to change the distro. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/focal/s390x/exiv2/0.25-4ubuntu3 exiv2 0.25-4ubuntu3 (s390x binary) in ubuntu focal Focal will be released in 2020.04 and is the coming LTS-version. Debian uses exiv2 0.25-4 since a very long time and 0.27.2-3 is in experimental (see https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=exiv2 ) So this means the next long time release of Ubuntu will still have 0.25 including all the troubles with new lenses. The reason for the problems are API changes from 0.25 to 0.26 maybe, but other distros managed the change. https://www.exiv2.org/changelog.html On the other side: https://www.exiv2.org/manpage.html Exiv2 can read an optional configuration file ~/.exiv2 on Unix https://dev.exiv2.org/issues/0001035 I'm going to accept this assignment for v0.26 as we can't consider this for v0.25 https://dev.exiv2.org/boards/3/topics/3017 However, Digikam and Darktable doesn't apply any lens correction, cause my lens is identified incorrectly ... You can fix this for yourself. In Exiv2 v0.26, you can put the name of your lens into the file ~/.exiv2 This is discussed here. http://dev.exiv2.org/issues/1328 So there is no solution before 0.26. There are a lot of new lenses which lead to problems for Ubuntu users. I think **4** years are a very long time of problems and therefore my question, why a simple lens identification can make so much trouble and if there is not an alternative? Eg I can imagine a darktable configuration, use exiv2 or exiftool for lens identification. This should not be so much of coding. There will be new cameras and lenses always and there should be an easy workaround for users of new lenses. I like dt and would like to use it, but I have to look for another program if my equipment is not supported. But I will try a lot to use my fav dt. My lenscorrection files from Ubuntu 18.04 do not work out of the box in 19.10, but I think I will get it work again (1 already works again, very small changes are necessary and it is guessing what could help). I did things, which I would never do normally. I replaced the xml-files for the brands I use with the newest one from git, changed it from to . So a lensfun update will replace these files. On the other side, I am pretty sure, there will be no update and if, it contains the new lenses hopefully. After the files from git my Pentax K-1 was recognized correctly, before it was recognized as K-S1 (a known bug since a long time) Before I tried: # lensfun-update-data Reading http://lensfun.sourceforge.net/db/versions.json … Reading http://wilson.bronger.org/lensfun-db/versions.json … Info: No newer database was found for last installed Lensfun. This didn't help for my lens-recognition. I tried to compile eviv2 and ended on dependencies / not available other packages. Any help is welcome. Please point me to the exact download-link, which I should use with Ubuntu 19.10. I gave up with Ubuntu 18.04 already because of dependency problems. I searched for repos of course https://www.exiv2.org/download.html does not show an Ubuntu 19.10 specific repo. I have downloaded https://www.exiv2.org/builds/exiv2-0.27.2-Linux64.tar.gz and set the environment, so I can use a newer version in the shell, but this doesn't help with dt. Maybe there is an exiv2-repo for Ubuntu in OBS, but I could not find it. At the end I am very unsure if a newer exiv2 helps to solve my problem with the Ricoh GR III, but for sure with other unknown dslr-lenses. I try to attach a small screenshot, which shows my Ricoh problem. Every things works, except that I have to select the lens manually. This GRIII has a fixed focus lens and is a compact camera with an APS-C sensor. It doesn't matter how I call the lens. Exiftool reports "GR Lens". If I call it "fixed lens", I have to select this name. IMHO it should be enough that the camera is recognized. The camera is recognized automatically as it should. So why a lens selection, if there is only one possible? Al darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
[darktable-user] Are there Ubuntu-19.10-Users with manual added lenses?
I try to use DNG-files from a Ricoh GR III with darktable 2.6.3~git2.22c690a53 (from OBS) and Ubuntu 19.10 GR III-lens is not recognized automatically, but the camera itself is. After discussing this in the lensfun-maillinglist it could be that is not very much related to lensfun, but maybe to Ubuntu or darktable. The problem with Ubuntu is, that exiv2 is very old with this distro. Even the coming Ubuntu 20.04 uses the very old exiv2 0.25, while 0.26 is needed at least for a manual lens id configuration, although it looks like that this camera has no lens id using exiv2 0.27.2 This exiv2-problem exists for about 2 years now and will exist 2 more years with Ubuntu. So there are 4 years for some new lenses to wait. As said, it could be, that with this camera there is no eviv2-problem, but for sure with other new dslr-lenses. Is there a way, that darktable uses exiftool instead of exiv2? The decision is hard, but I don't want to change the distri to get a newer exiv2 and compiling looks to be not so easy (glib2). So I am posting the problem with the Ricoh GR III in this list too. Maybe someone can help. My lens-configuration is based on this post: https://github.com/lensfun/lensfun/issues/895 I have put the configuration file in ~/.local/share/lensfun All the variations I tried, worked manually, but not automatically. This is my latest trial: - RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. RICOH GR III RICOHGR3 1.53 RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. RICOH GR III GR Lens RICOHGR3 1.53 ... - In other words this means, I have to choose the lens every time manually, while the camera is recognized automatically. There are a lot of Sigma leneses, which are reported as Sigma only. See eg: Subject: Re: [Lensfun-users] Adding new corrections and creating corrections from user submissions Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2018 23:44:14 +0200 The first problem is, that the dt-repo for the latest Ubuntu 18.04, doesn't contain an exiv2-version, which supports this. The 2nd problem is, that lensfun uses this recognition and how lensfun-corrections has to be defined in such a case. Same situation, with this lens: Pentax HD Pentax-DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited smc PENTAX-DA 70mm F2.4 Limited Without the last line, I am told to choose the lens manually using the corrections from the repo-installation (not the update). I am a little bit confused, because the same lens queried by exiftool says sometimes, it is the HD an then the smc lens. It is the HD lens with the red ring. exiv2 says too it is the smc-version with a test file. I understand that they sell a lens with an old ROM, but I do not understand, why I remember a query, where HD was the result. Unfortunately I cannot find a file, which says it is the HD lens. Maybe some software changed the file then. Al darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

Not sure, I discussed this already in the lensfun-list. It should, but my experience is, that the "trick" with helped very often, but not always. > If you'd like to have that, you should probably raise an issue on > github/lensfun, which is used for the correction database maintenance. This thread was originally started as crossposting to the lensfun-list and the lensfun people have subscribed the list. If I am pretty sure, that it is correct, what I am writing and if I detect a bug, I will send them a mail of course. In the meantime I have some lenses corrected, which did not work before. I do not use "update" anymore and then it works in ~/.local/share/lensfun if I do not use a version. I decided to create an own file there for every lens which doesn't work. I am still fighting with the Pentax DFA 24-70. It doesn't help to use the correction file from 16.04 (which worked). My next step will be a local exiv2-info-file. The .local files are always owned by the user, but I want to add, that it is a link to another partition. This worked perfect with Ubuntu 16.04. IMHO it should be enough permission, so a user can read it. But in this case, the user can write it too. Do you have files in /var/lib/lensfun-updates/version_1/ or in other words, did you execute lensfun-update-data as root? Maybe if the update is done as root, files in ~/.local/share/lensfun are ignored? On the other hand, there is a file with cropfactor 1 for this lens in the lensfun-database, but this is a lensfun-configuration problem IMHO. The posted configuration works for me, if the other similar lens corrections are removed. I also wonder which lensfun correction is used, if there is a 2nd correction in the file. [darktable-user] lensfun priority troubles with Ubuntu 18.04
gimp-lensfun 0.2.4-1 liblensfun-bin 0.3.2-4 ii liblensfun-data-v1 0.3.2-4 ii liblensfun1:amd64 0.3.2-4 ii python3-lensfun 0.3.2-4 So everything is 0.3.2-4, except for gimp which is 0.2 I use lensfun with darktable 1:2.4.3-0pmjdebruijn1~bionic I try to get a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS working with _fullformat_ and darktable 2.4.3. The lens works with APS-C, but not with fullframe after the repo-installation. The correction suggested by me with a comment in the xml-file was used with APS-C (and worked). The correction below generally works for APS-C and FF, but it is not recognized in .local-folder. It is a different correction that I suggested. The correction below is for FF. So there are 3 place where a correction can be: /usr/share/lensfun/version_1/ /var/lib/lensfun-updates/version_1/ ~/.local/share/lensfun What I tried with different headers and maybe there is something wrong. I removed _all_ correction for Sigma 70-300mm in /usr/share/lensfun/version_1/ and /var/lib/lensfun-updates/version_1/ So the only correction then was in ~/.local/share/lensfun. Darktable did not recognize the lens. I added the correction below in /var/lib/lensfun-updates/version_1/, but have kept all existing 70-300 corrections. Darktable did not recognize the lens with FF. Then I removed _all_ 70-300 corrections and added the correction below in /usr/share/lensfun/version_1/. Darktable recognized the lens with APS-C and FF. So this will work until the next update only. I have backuped the original slr-sigma.xml, so I can restore them easily for tests. Please note, I added: Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS to the existing FF-correction Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS Sony Alpha Sigma SA Pentax KAF2 Canon EF Nikon F AF 1 Thanks for your replies. Because I have 1 file, where lensfun works here too with this lens and my system! See the websample-screenshot. It is a raw-file with a DFA 24-70 too. The webfile recognizes the lens on the left side and on the right side for lens correction. Maybe it are different raw-formats. Mine: [MakerNotes]0x0027 DSP Firmware Version: 1.43.29.23 Web: [MakerNotes]0x0027 DSP Firmware Version: 1.00.00.00 So it could be, that there is a newer format, which doesn't work with my dt / exiv2-version. I am thinking of linking the newer lib-version to the old 14-version. Maybe this works, but did not try it. I am convinced to solve the left side in dt first. I must see the correct lens there and then we go on to lensfun, if needed (on the right side) > > Maybe I should remove the Ubuntu-dt-version and compile dt myself, > > but that takes time, which I don't have in the next time. > > that isn't/didn't work for you, why would it work now or make a > difference. Compilation of exiv2 was no problem, but I fear it is getting more complex with dt. No idea which options are possible, but maybe I can define my compiled exiv2-version when building dt. Maybe I just have to wait until a new version for dt is published. There are 2 possibilites, the suse-repo for xubuntu (actually I use xubuntu) and the ubuntu version. I still do believe, it is not a lensfun problem, first dt must recognize the lens. I am pretty sure that it works with lensfun, when the lens is recognized by darktable and dt uses the compiled exiv2 version, and not the old one. Maybe I should remove the Ubuntu-dt-version and compile dt myself, but that takes time, which I don't have in the next time. It depends on your equipment. If exiv2 recognizes your equipment you are happy ;-) I didn't find any problems with image manipulation. I know a little bit more in the meantime. IMO one big problem is the exiv2-version. Bionic contains the 1 year old exiv2 0.25-3.1, but only version 0.26 allows to define own lenses and 0.26 recognizes more lenses, if you search the web. See eg http://dev.exiv2.org/boards/3/topics/3017 So the first thing is to get exiv2 0.26 work. If darktable shows a lens like 0x you have to define .exiv2 in the home directory. If the lens ic recognized then by darktable, you must check if lensfun recognizes it. I have lenses which are recognized by dt (on the left panel), but not on the right side (lens correction), although a lensfun-file exists. I have to do more tests, to find out, why a lens which worked with dt 2.4.3, but not with Bionic anymore. Hopefully it is a syntax problem of the lens file, which has changed. Again, the 1st step is to get exiv2 0.26 work. Al darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
[darktable-user] Disappointed by new Ubuntu version Bionic
I had big problems with Ubuntu 16.04, but now with Ubuntu 18.04 it is getting more worse. This is the version I use at the moment with Bionic (18.04): darktable 1:2.4.3-0pmjdebruijn1~bionic liblensfun1:amd64 0.3.2-4 exiv2 0.25-3.1 First I tried the Ubuntu-repo-version, then I changed to ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-unstable which is the same at the moment. In 16.04 (Xenial) I used liblensfun 0.2.8-3. What comes in my mind is, there was a syntax change, so maybe this has to be checked. There is still the bug e.g, with the Pentax K-1, which is recognzized as K-01. Well, this can be solved easily, but I have problems now with lenses, which worked already. Every photo takes 5 seconds until it is loaded. So it is very time consuming to check the lens correction by clicking on every photo. A similar situation is noise reduction. A selection with camera and ISO would be interesting. My wish would be 3 technical criteria for a selection in combination with a dt action. Maybe analyzing the xmp-file could be a workaround. It looks like, if there is no lens correction, the word lens cannot be found in the xmp-file. But it is getting complicated, if there are lenses, where no lenscorrection exists. I didn't find the lensmodel in the xmp-file. Al darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

The question is, if darktable should offer a quick solution for alias lenses, which the user can define *immediately*. IMHO yes. > > notice / warning in dt if an alias lens was added to lensfun. > > Can you elaborate on this? Besides, assumed that an alias feature > is available in Lensfun or DT, why are further steps necessary? So if darktable allows alias lenses by the user, which are not in the lensfun database, the user should be informed, that the dt-alias-lens is now available in the lensfun database, so that the dt-alias can be removed. Actually it is not so important if it is an alias lens. If I think a workaround could be to use the correction of lens B for lens A, I should be able to do this. IMHO the xmp-file should contain the lensfun-lens, and not the alias-name, which lensfun doesn't know at this time. This is the same as I do manually now. > > [...] > > > >> That said, often one gets away with expanding the lens model > >> name. I think this is a very important topic how to manage not recognized lenses and cameras. As you already mentioned, camera aliases are important too. My lens is recognized e.g., but the camera not, so I have to define a camera for every image, although all Pentax-APSC-DLSR have the same data. AFAIK it depends on the sensor size, so why not a suggested sensor size if the camera is not available. Eg. it is recognized that the photo was taken with a unknown Pentax-DSLR, so dt should make a suggestion for Pentax APS-C, which can be predefined in preferences. Well, I am not alone, and there must be a way to get an acceptable solution. Is there already an official bug / wishlist entry for darktable? So why not let the user do the solution? I would like to see the following in dt: dt-preferences: define used cameras and lenses in a _flat_ alphabetic list. If you need to define a camera manually, like i have to do with a KP, it is a lot of klicking. I think the most people have less than 10 cameras and less than 10 lenses, so a hierarchical menu for the owned equipment is time consuming. The list will grow, because some day everyone buys a new camera and keeps the old photos. But nevertheless a flat menu will be the best for manually choosing. alias lenses of existing lensfun-lenses in dt. notice / warning in dt if an alias lens was added to lensfun. The selected alias lens has to be written in the xmp-file and not in the dt-database. Personally I do not fill the database with data and after a fresh install of dt the database is empty, because everything I need is in the xmp-file. > Currently, we simply copy the lens entries and mark them as copies > in XML comments. In the furture, they are replaced with alias tags. As long as the lens is recognized, there should be no difference for the user. > That said, often one gets away with expanding the lens model name. > Note that excess words in a lens model name are ignored by Lensfun > while matching (at least in the mode by which Darktable uses > Lensfun). This does not help with the smc/HD thingy, but e.g. an > A09 can be appended without making the database inaccurate. The next problem is a solution to get new lenses available in darktable, easy and fast for the user. At the moment I am using .local/share/lensfun and use the files from git. But I think this can be done easier while doing a "normal" system update. Again, if there is no official bug report for this topic, I will open one. Simply, the old version doesn't support my lenses. After I switched back, the distortion remained until I deleted the lens calibration, so I "packed" the history and activated the lens calibration again. Then it was ok. In the meantime I know, why 0.3.2 didn't work sometimes, I use different cameras and one was the new Pentax KP, which is not supported until now. When I assigned a Pentax K3 instead, it worked generally. Probably not a good idea. Thanks and sorry, I don't still know what you mean and cannot get it work. Is it possible to change the dt-menu to English so I see the terms in English, which dt uses? I made a screenshot which you can see at http://up.picr.de/29278321lv.jpg Where do I have to select the filmroll? In the upper part or in the middle part and where do I remove the whole filmroll at once? I know how to remove photos. [darktable-user] Automatically removing of vanished and double imported files
Renaming of photos leads to a lot of troubles and I try to find a workaroud for renamed photos, sometimes with the same name as an older photo had. This occurs especially with serial photos. Eg you are taking pictures for a portrait in serial mode and then from 100 edited you keep the and rename then. In this case I change the time too, so that there is only 1 photo in 1 second and every photo is taken 1 second later in exif-data, while the makernotes are untouched, which show the actual values. I am using a bash script to rename photos and the new name has always a corresponding xmp-file. Is there a way to remove double imported photos from the database automatically? Is it possible to remove vanished photos from the database automatically? The xmp-file contains a line with "xmpMM:DerivedFrom=". Could it help to replace the old filename with the new one? Roman, obviously there is a bug, since the pef-file cannot be opened. Download a pef file from http://www.photographyblog.com/previews/pentax_kp_photos/ and try it yourself, please.
